WM6.1 and TomTom Nav 6 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I have just added TNT's 6.1 rom but when I install TomTom 6, I can't get Plus services working.
Checked the username/password/device ID, reset the device on tt.com but it seems to bomb out with network error and not get off the hermes
I have the 6.0.030 version of TT
Any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem. Anyone have any ideas, could it be something on the SD card for the TomTom that needs to be changed or removed?

check to make sure your connections are configured properly. I was having issues with Pay's 6.1 ROM and I found that the 'ISP' connection wasn't working. I had to change the server in the ISP connection settings.

All my other data stuff works so I don't think that's it.

This is acting more like there is a method of connection being used by TT that is no longer there with 6.1
As above, everything else about data (email, IE etc) all work fine

I am running Dr. Faria Clean 6.1 and I just added Nav 6 today (still waiting for my BT GPS). I was able to download some new voices via Plus today without any issues. I also downloaded a new color scheme. I am on the AT&T network. I hope this helps.

Hmm, interesting. I ran Pay's 6.1 and ran into the same problem. I also ran Dr. Fari's full ROM and had the same thing as well. I'll see if I have time today to download and load the Dr. Faria Clean and see what happens.

Did you try to start IE and surf to a page to make sure data connection was working before starting tomtom?
I know some software doesn't seem to be able initiate data connection and will only work if it is already available.

That's not it. Everything else works fine. I was actually streaming internet radio stations when I tried to do it so it's not it.

One more clue.....
Looks like there is some values not being set correctly for connections on AT&T
In the case of the TNT 6.1 rom, it would seem that some apps were defaulting to "The Internet" not Media Net for the connection and not working.
So it would seem that TT might be defaulting to a value that some ROMs are not setting correctly

If someone could tell me where to check my settings I would be more than willing to post them. I would be curious if you could get it to work with faria's clean ROM though. It seems to work great for me.

tt and I did some more testing and ran the CINGULAR WAP cab that I keep for instances such as these. It fixed the problems with some of the applications that weren't connecting to the data network (MobiTV, XMRadio), but Slingplayer and TomTom both had troubles. The funny thing was that when it went to connect it kept trying to connect via the ISP even when MediaNET was selected for both options. Something is definitely not set correctly on TNT 6.1 so I'm pretty convinced that it's a TNT problem and not a 6.1 problem. I've posted the Cingular WAP settings cab for ease of use.

Problem solved......
The problem turns out to be that the Connection Config added an AT&T proxy server.
Delete the proxy server and it all starts working ok

I had MediaNet and 'My ISP' I simply changed the 'My ISP' server to match the one from MediaNet. Everything works. XM, MobiTv, TT6, Google, MS Live, Youtube, etc..

WM6 ActiveSynch(exchange) and Cingular problems.

I'm getting some annoying inconsistencys with wm6 roms and getting exchange server to work with Cingular. It seems the only rom that I can get this to work correctly is WMXL V0.20
Whenever I install a new rom I make sure to setup my Cingular data connection first and test it out and make sure it works before I setup my exchange server. Once I get my exchange server setup it synchs fine but when done it has that annoying Attention link and tells me I need to create a data connection blah blah. Umm I have a data connection it just freakin used it to synch my data.
I don't understand this happens with every rom I use except wmxl V0.20 and I do everything the same. While I like using WMXL V0.20 I still would like to figure out whats going on. Maybe it has something to do with all the other roms show a U instead of E when I connect (wmxl 0.20 shows a E which is whats correct) I am not sure.
Anyone else using Cingular and 8525 having similiar issues? I would like to add that I do not have the roaming icon issue.

Problem connecting to the GPRS, 3G, etc. Bad Radio?

I am using radio 1.38 since upgrading to Black 1.2. I've noticed that even with the Cingular WAB settings (cabs in another thread), it does not connect. I open PIE and click a page. It initiates a GPRS connection but never connects. Keeps saying "connecting to:" media net, ISP, whatever, but doesn't connect.
Am I missing something? Seems all the settings in connections is right. ISP = isp.cinglar and WAP = wap.cingular and all the passwords are entered. Could it be the radio? All calls are OK however.
Thanks for any help.
BTW, if the radio is bad, can I downgrade to radio 1.34? I am at 1.30OLIpro.
Suggest you try the settings from somewhere else. Walshieu's program has the settings for cingular medianet, give that a shot??
The .cab file posted has been known NOT to work and may have done something to ballz up the connections??

i tried the program but same problem. can it be a bad radio if i can make calls but can't connect to GPRS? or is must be something else?
Uninstall ALL your software and try it without. If your GPRS works then its probably the 3rd party stuff.
Same problem since day 1

I´m just piggyback this thread, I´ve had exactly the same problem since last December when I got my 8525. I´ve posted in different forums but no one was able to provide a clue, actually I´m offering a reward for the one that can solve this problem for me. Is not the device itself because I´ve tried with 2 or 3 different ones and the behavior is the same. I hope we can get a hand on this.

Windows Live and T-Mobile UK Sync error

I am sure this has been covered elsewhere but I have searched extensively and cannot find a solution to this.
I am having problems syncing with Windows Live. I have tried pretty much every recent ROM and whenever I go to set up my account, it accepts all my details and goes through the set up procedure, but when it goes to sync, it says Synchronisation has failed because 'Windows Live is unable to connect. The service may be temporarily unavailable or you may be in a place where data coverage isnt very good. please try again later.'
If I log onto the same account on an identical device running wm5 with the non-beta live cab installed, I have no problems.
I have tried with WiFi and 3G and get the same result.
I know its not a problem with signal because I have a wm5 and wm6 device running side-by-side.
When I run the set up on wm5, it automatically initiates an internet connection but on wm6, if I havent already opened up a data connection before starting Windows Live I get an error straight away saying it cant find and active connection.
I have noted that other people have had similar issues but cant find a solution.
The devices I am using are UK Tmobile - could there be a network issue?
Had same problem a while ago when first upgraded to WM6
Tried various flavours including LSVW's but always had the same problem.
I then tried a different radio rom and Custel's great WM6
thankfully all is now working brilliant and never had a problem.
However not sure if this was the change in radio or the flavour of WM6 that caused it to correct.
i also have changed the settings in HTC custom so that in the comms tab i do not have GPRS/3G always on.
I have it set to disconnect.
Hope it helps.
I had this issue as after a few hours I did figure out one POSSIBLE cause.
When I turned off messenger on my PC, then it was able to sync.
You'd think it wouldn't need that but there you go.

Hi, Kindly wanted to CHRISNASH, if the suggestion our fellow guys suggested resolved the issuse of connecting & syncing with window live as i hav the exact same problem? PLEASE...
i'll try the Custel rom tomorrow - its the only one I haven't tried I think. its certainly not an issue with the desktop as I dont have an account logged on.
I'm pretty sure I havent had these issues with my orange sim so it looks as though it might be tmobile related.
I havent used any connection tweaks so it cant be that.
ill also try one of the earlier lsvw roms which I know worked with my orange sim and see if that works.
any other suggestions would be seriously appreciated as I am running a conference with some students next week and I have planned a load of activities using it!
Windows Live not working with t-mobile and wm6
Well, I just tried my orange sim in my wm6 hermes and Windows Live synced fine. I put my tmobile sim in and it wouldnt sync giving the usual error message that it cant find a connection even when there is one. So I guess there is an issue with tmobile UK and Windows Live on WM6. Interestingly I have no such issues with it on WM5. Unless of course its an issue with the Radio version. I'll test that out now and report back.
Its definitely an issue with tmobileUK, wm6 and windows live, cos I just flashed the same device that had wm6, 1.41.00 radio and tmobile sim and wouldnt sync with windows live, with a wm5 rom and kept everything elas the same and it synced just fine!
Any ideas anyone?

E-Mail Problem After Upgrading 8525 to WM6

I upgraded my Cingular 8525 to WM6 (specifically this one: RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3_1_.57.502.1_6275_1.48.00.00_108-ATT-MR3_Ship.exe). Now, when I am connected to my PC via USB cable, and have an ActiveSync connection, it can't check my e-mail via AT&T MEdiaNet. If I'm disconnected, it works just fine.
When I try to connect to MEdiaNet, I get a message that says "Error Syncronizing", then a popup that says "Cannot connect with current connection settings."
I'm using ActiveSync 4.5.0 (build 5096). In File->Connection Settings, I have checked "Allow wireless connection on device when connected to the desktop". Still no good.
AT&T's tech support has been of no help. It worked before I upgraded from the most recent official AT&T ROM to WM6, so I'm assuming there's some setting that's different, and I just don't know what it is.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me, please?
I also had this problem. It only started after I had set up internet sharing. I have currently got Schap's latest rom running. I have been able to get around the issue by setting up a bluetooth relationship with laptop, connecting to laptop, open ActiveSync on phone, menu, connect via bluetooth. Works fine like this.
Got a reply in another forum that solved the problem:
"On the Connection Settings screen there is an option for "This computer connects to?". What is yours set to?
Mine was set to Automatic and would not allow data connections. Once I changed it to Internet it allowed my 8525 to maintain a data connection via 3G when plugged in."
Upgrading to WM6
I am thinking about doing the same thing. Any tips for the upgrade process? Are you happy with the version you flashed to?
If you have checked the box to allow wireless connections to this device when connected to the desktop under connection settings in Activesync then that may well be the problem. Have had that problem with a number of ROMs

Before you upgrade any ROM or radio, the most important thing to do is read, read, read. There are some excellent resources available that will guide you through the process. Most important, as all the resources will tell you, is to install a program called "Hard SPL", a.k.a. Olipro. It reportedly goes a long way toward preventing problems when flashing the ROM. Best of all, like so many other wonderful tools for our HTC phones, it's free!
I'm happy with the version I used, but there is now a slightly updated one available. I had troubles with the battery life with radio version 1.48.00, so I changed to 1.50, which is working better. WM6 is a significant improvement over WM5, in my opinion. Faster, more stable, HTML e-mail, and more. Plus, you can always go back to WM5 if you don't like it.
Good luck!

I suggest reading the upgrade guide at www.mrvanx.org
Be sure to flash HardSPLv7 from Olipro
Yeah, I am really happy with having flashed my device. Once you do it, you can always redo it. Give something a try and see if you like it, then check other threads to see if you may want to try something else. Be sure you get the most recent version of whatever you select.

ATT TILT 2 on Rogers: Plz Help with Operea and Internet Sharing

Hello~
I recently discover this forum and the info that is available overwhelms me (in a good way)! I am a new user to Windows Mobile and find it some what difficult to "tweak" things...so I pretty much accept the way things are on my phone...except 2 problems...
Anyway, as mention above, I currently have the ATT Tilt 2 on Rogers and everything is great except the Internet Sharing and Opera.
Opera: I tried using the Opera that is pre-installed on it but it won't load as if there is no internet connection. IE, however, works flawlessly....I disabled the Proxy and Opera still won't work....I downloaded the latest Opera Beta and that works fine...It is not a big problem but would like to fix it if possible =)
Internet Sharing: I would love to use my phone as a modem, through USB or Wifi, it doesn't matter. However, every time i plug my usb in, and tried to connect thru USB, it will just give me "Error APN"...i talked to HTC and they said the software was only designed to work with AT&T...so I don't know.....
However, I download WMWIFI Router last night and it works flawlessly...but since it is a trial, it won't work after 21 days...So I was hoping i can solve this problem before the trial expires...
Any help or guidance would be great! Thank you all for reading this and your contribution =) Have a great day!!
I too have the Tilt2 on the Rogers network and i have the same problem with InternetSharing (i.e. using the phone as a modem). Did you manage to make any progress yet?

I've got the Tilt 2 working on Fido, so it can be done. Here's how:
On the AT&T ROM there is a shortcut to disable the proxy in Start/Tools/Proxy Manager. However this only works for IE. To disable the AT&T Proxy in Opera also, edit
\Windows\Opera\opera.ini
and set the Use HTTP and Use HTTPS proxy settings to 0, then soft reset.
You can change the settings in opera:config, but they didn't stick after a soft reset.
Thanks moltenfire. it worked for me!
Nobody answered the question about the "Error APN" message.....?/?
Thanks Moltenfire. Editing the INI file worked for Tilt 2 on AT&T!!
I am on Rogers with a Tilt 2.
When I was using the stock ROM I had to remove the ATT Proxy in opera:config before any internet connection would work. Not sure if this is the issue for you...
I have swtiched to Josh's Basic Black ROM and the WiFi Router and Opera work flawlessly. Sharing the internet connection over the USB cable also works just fine.
Cheers
