I am trying to dial up to Cingular (in the US) GPRS using my Blue Angel. It actually works very well using the ol' *99# method, but that's only when the phone is already disconnected from GPRS. Is there a command I can send to the phone to make it disconnect from its GPRS connection. The error Windows gives is "phone line busy," which makes complete sense.
as you are able to link the pda with the phone? through the BT
Thank you
This is with a laptop. Everything works as it would on another phone, except for one thing. It will say the modem is busy if the XDA is already connected to GPRS.
hi
i have a belkin g wireless 802.x.G router at home and have a wifi setup since long..
i was always able to connect to the wireless network with Bluangel aswell as my laptops.. (i have no encyrption.. or secutrity settings)
i upgraded the radio rom to 1.12 and after that have not been able to connect to the network.. it says belkinG network found and connected but the internet explorer or msn or agile messenger cant seem to find the net settings..
internet is on share in main computer nad my lap tops still conect and use it..
i thought may be it was because of rom 1.12 but flashed older 1.31 imate with ext rom and radio rom but still cant get the internet to work..
when i use PIE it says network card not found..check settings..
in wireless settings i can see it saying that it is connected to belkin network
can anyone help me
thanks

can you see if your pda2k's wlan adapter has an IP address? if not, then only radio is connected but that doesn't mean you have a working network connection.
I use vxUtil which is a collection of network tools, this enables me to ping, check settings, ip addresses and a whole lot of other stuff since the onboard utils just don't cut it for network use..
argh
I have the same problem although I havent upgraded any radio settings! My Wifi has worked fine since ive had my m2000, being able to stream video and music or surf the web. but recently i cant surf the web although I can still stream music.
Ive downloaded the program you reccomended, but not to sure what to do with it. Any help would be ideal
Thanks

Thank you for reading this, I really need your help.
Two options: which one below is true or possible?
1- It is possilbe to Connect my Laptop to internet via Dialup connect. on pocketpc phone? and connect my Laptop to pockect pc phone via Bluetooth.
Or should I use the dialup connection on my laptop to connect to internet using Wireless modem on my pocket pc phone?
does this make sense?
I have Siemens SX66.
You must be a mind reader because I was going to ask the same question.
Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated
I've successfully connected my XDAIIs to laptop for internet access.
On USB craddle, you can
1. Laptop connected to internet ( dial up / lan / whatever ) --> XDAIIs sits on craddle and connect to Active sync ---> XDAIIs can access internet
2. Use XDAIIs as the dial up modem via GPRS and your Laptop is able to access internet. This option u will need "HTC HUB" modem driver.
IrDA, you can
1. Use XDAIIs as the "Virtual" dial up modem via GPRS and your Laptop is able to access internet. This option u will need IrCOMM2k for emulating IrDA port on your laptop to see XDAIIs as its modem on its com port.
Bluetooth
This one i never try. I don't have bluetooth on my laptop :-(
As Forum Elders and experts have been saying...PLS TAKE SOMETIME AND EFFORTS TO SEARCH ON THIS FORUM and u will need the desired.
FYI, one can use 2s/2i/mini/Jam/XDA II ...etc as a wireless Modem via USB/Serial/Bluetooth/Irda.
Pls also take efoorts to read the manual which is provided with...

Thank you my friend, but if you get my previous reply, I want to conneted to the internet using my mobile number by dialing up an ISP account and not GPRS as I HATE GPRS, it is unreasonably expensive.
Can you help on this. I have searched and searched and searched...
Hi there,
Follow the steps below.Kindly note that to access your ISP, your SIM card should have Data Services enabled from your service provider. Also, the dial up number should be PSTN Number....viz nos start from 1 cannot be dialed from a GSM Network.Check thiis with your Network service provider.
1.FIrst of all pair your device with your laptop BT, so that your laptop checks the services which your PDA offers viz Serialport,DUN., Activesync etc...
2.Now, go to Network connections on your Laptop and opt for make a new connection.Just take care that you should opt for Bluetooth Modem while selecting the Modem.Rest all is same as you had done for your ISP.
3.Now, just dial the connection...your phone shd be able to maka a data call.
Pls let me know if you were able to do so...Best Luck

Thank you hdubli, I will try it and let you.
How about direct dial up to ISP/PSTN from pda phone?
Can we do that?
Imagine, go anywhere only with pda phone.
Yes one can do that For doing so one has to select the "Cellular Line" while making a new connection on phone and input the dial up number provided by service provider..I suggest consult your service provider for doijg this

You can only get up to 9.6kbps dialing up to an ISP account (CSD service, typically USD$9.99/mo). With GPRS you can get at least 28.8kbps... That's why GPRS is more expensive (typically USD$19.99/mo)...
Now unless you plan to just browse gopher sites (gopher://quux.org/)... I don't think CSD is worth the trouble...

GPRS is fine, but expensive in the UK. It is £2.35 per MB with an 02 monthly contract. Unless you get an 02 Pay As You Go SIM and 'bolt on' 02 Active5. It's £4 for 5mb.
If you use simple old fashioned dialup PSTN/ISDN you can use (for example) a free 0845 dialup (UK2.net) and use your bundled minutes instead.
OK it's slower, but I just want email headers and have over 800 minutes rolled over this month!!
Rich
Peoples,
I would like to set up my Orbit to work as a modem for my Laptop whilst on holidays ie use it to connect to the internet etc
Question is how can I do same, and the best method given that my laptop has bluetooth and wifi (or direct cable connection?)?
Many thanks
I assume you're on O2 and don't mind paying for GPRS roaming while aboard, which I assume your holiday is also aboard.
You can follow the below link from O2 (setup for windows) which tells you what username/passowrd, phone number and ips you need to put in the settings.
http://www.o2.co.uk/assets/O2HybridNav/Static-files/PDFs/Windows manual set up instructions.pdf
as far as the installing the modem goes, turn on bluetooth, discoverable, and your PC should see your phone in the bluetooth browser and you should be able to add it as a modem.
Thanks for the reply humps
...will try here (UK) first, but back in Australia will use a local SIM for data and calls....cheers
It's not that hard..
You simply need to pair up your orbit with the lappy... the blootooth should detect and install various components (modem etc)... but the one you need to use is Bluetooth LAN. On the orbit, go to intenet sharing, make the pc conenction Bluetooth PAN, and hit conenct - I've not tried it on USB, as the bluetooth is perfect...
Then, just double-click the bluetooth LAN connection on the laptop, and it should piggyback on the back of the orbit's GPRS connection.
USB is easy, start Internet Sharing in the Programs menu, tell it what connection settings to use, select USB, then touch connect. Plug the cable into the laptop and your done.

Except it runs the battery down very quickly. USB will charge the battery whilst you browse.... But other than that it is fine.
i was wondering is it possible to share ppc's wifi connection through usb to a lappy without wifi capability?

Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1315142&postcount=2
It might or might not work though!
This really gets me in the UK... I have hundreds of mins free calls yet get charged sill money for going on line GPRS.... When away its cheeper to plug into a phone line and go on dial up and the same speed.... why hasnt someone come up with a way of using the phone as a 'modem' old skool style. that way i could use the phone call mins and pay for the on line time rather than kbs
Interesting thought GPRS v GSM
Have you tried settings..connections, add a new connection and just specify 'Cellular Line' arather than GPRS...
You'll need an ISP with a dialup number, but it would count as a standard call.
Problem, of course, is that most ISP dialups are 0845 numbers which won't come out of your call allowance, but if you could find one with say an 020 number, you may be getting somewhere (line spped would be v slow, but it would be good enough to download mails and then read them offline)
