Connecting Laptop to internet by Dialup connect. on pocketpc

Thank you for reading this, I really need your help.
Two options: which one below is true or possible?
1- It is possilbe to Connect my Laptop to internet via Dialup connect. on pocketpc phone? and connect my Laptop to pockect pc phone via Bluetooth.
Or should I use the dialup connection on my laptop to connect to internet using Wireless modem on my pocket pc phone?
does this make sense?
I have Siemens SX66.
You must be a mind reader because I was going to ask the same question.
Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated
I've successfully connected my XDAIIs to laptop for internet access.
On USB craddle, you can
1. Laptop connected to internet ( dial up / lan / whatever ) --> XDAIIs sits on craddle and connect to Active sync ---> XDAIIs can access internet
2. Use XDAIIs as the dial up modem via GPRS and your Laptop is able to access internet. This option u will need "HTC HUB" modem driver.
IrDA, you can
1. Use XDAIIs as the "Virtual" dial up modem via GPRS and your Laptop is able to access internet. This option u will need IrCOMM2k for emulating IrDA port on your laptop to see XDAIIs as its modem on its com port.
Bluetooth
This one i never try. I don't have bluetooth on my laptop :-(
As Forum Elders and experts have been saying...PLS TAKE SOMETIME AND EFFORTS TO SEARCH ON THIS FORUM and u will need the desired.
FYI, one can use 2s/2i/mini/Jam/XDA II ...etc as a wireless Modem via USB/Serial/Bluetooth/Irda.
Pls also take efoorts to read the manual which is provided with...

Thank you my friend, but if you get my previous reply, I want to conneted to the internet using my mobile number by dialing up an ISP account and not GPRS as I HATE GPRS, it is unreasonably expensive.
Can you help on this. I have searched and searched and searched...
Hi there,
Follow the steps below.Kindly note that to access your ISP, your SIM card should have Data Services enabled from your service provider. Also, the dial up number should be PSTN Number....viz nos start from 1 cannot be dialed from a GSM Network.Check thiis with your Network service provider.
1.FIrst of all pair your device with your laptop BT, so that your laptop checks the services which your PDA offers viz Serialport,DUN., Activesync etc...
2.Now, go to Network connections on your Laptop and opt for make a new connection.Just take care that you should opt for Bluetooth Modem while selecting the Modem.Rest all is same as you had done for your ISP.
3.Now, just dial the connection...your phone shd be able to maka a data call.
Pls let me know if you were able to do so...Best Luck

Thank you hdubli, I will try it and let you.
How about direct dial up to ISP/PSTN from pda phone?
Can we do that?
Imagine, go anywhere only with pda phone.
Yes one can do that For doing so one has to select the "Cellular Line" while making a new connection on phone and input the dial up number provided by service provider..I suggest consult your service provider for doijg this

You can only get up to 9.6kbps dialing up to an ISP account (CSD service, typically USD$9.99/mo). With GPRS you can get at least 28.8kbps... That's why GPRS is more expensive (typically USD$19.99/mo)...
Now unless you plan to just browse gopher sites (gopher://quux.org/)... I don't think CSD is worth the trouble...

GPRS is fine, but expensive in the UK. It is £2.35 per MB with an 02 monthly contract. Unless you get an 02 Pay As You Go SIM and 'bolt on' 02 Active5. It's £4 for 5mb.
If you use simple old fashioned dialup PSTN/ISDN you can use (for example) a free 0845 dialup (UK2.net) and use your bundled minutes instead.
OK it's slower, but I just want email headers and have over 800 minutes rolled over this month!!

O2 XDA Orbit Connections tab

Hi guys new here found this site after upgrading on O2 from an aging Sony Ericsson P900 to my first ever WM5 device. £50 on £25 12 month contract
So far I think its absolutely great no probs what so ever
Just one thing, Ive been trying to get it to access the O2 Active Wap site but it always ends up going to the html version (pda.o2.co.uk), Ive tried looking around googling for answers some say pocket IE doesnt do wap and some say it does if you set it up properly.
This is where the Connection tab comes into it, Ive read to go to Settings>Connections>Connections> Manage exsiting connections and in there set up the proxy but all I see are two tabs; Tasks and Advance........no Proxy settings tab to be seen??
Any advice, Thanks in advance
First question has to be... why bother with wap when you have access to www?
PIE does support wap, you just need to use wsp://xxxxx instead of http://xxxxx
But, I'm pretty sure none of the WM5 Xda's are supported by the O2 active wap site. So even if you can get on there you won't be able to do the things you can on a standard phone, like download ringtones etc.
The preconfigured O2 setting should be fine for accessing wap if you really want to (the connection is only there to use MMS). You don't need to change the proxy settings.
Thanks for the reply, I managed to discover how to get the proxy setting up, I had to change the select network to connect to internet using My Work rather than My ISP before it would come up in the Tasks tab
Just wanted to try to get the wap version of the site for the content, sport, tfl tube news, competitions etc. Tried wsp:// still comes up with the crappy pda version with all the ITN crap.
I would use the full http versions on GPRS if O2 had a decent enough data package, Im still getting over the fact its no longer free after 3 yrs of non charging
Anyone know how to get it to say emulate a non pda phone?

Phone not automatically connecting to gprs

Hello, im fairly new to these forums and have upgraded my 8525 to the 20070408_RUU_Hermes_WWE_3.24.0.4 wm6 rom. I've also installed the cingular WAP MediaNet MMS Settingsv2.cab to get the cingular settings back. My problem is that my 8525 does not automatically connect to gprs like it used to on wm5. To enable gprs i must go on internet explorer and force it to open gprs. Is there a setting i must go to set it to automatically connect to gprs upon start up? thanks in advance.

Hi All
I have the BT Anywhere HTC620.I upgraded to the "RUU_Excalibur_WM61_Kavana_080408_WWE" but i carnt find the BT network in the phone settings only Vodafone Orange O2 & T-Mobile. can it be changed over? or will i have to stick with WM6.
Thanks
si86
Hi.
BT Mobile uses the Vodafone network and that's what it displays on the homescreen.
Beware, the Vodafone settings wont allow you to SMS/MMS as you AREN'T a Voda customer.

has the settings or you could try

Haven't tried this but I think it sends the BT settings to your phone.
There is also 'BT Services' under the Start menu on mine, but that might have been added automatically once I set it up manually - worth a look though.
Hope it helps.
Thanks i will give it a try

Which settings are you missing?
I use Ricky's ROM v23 and BT Anywhere.
Adrian
Does it show BT for the network, cos mine is on Vodafone. Another thread say the BT use the Vodafone network. could you point in the direction of "Ricky's ROM v23 "
and i will give it a try. I have even put the original BT rom back in and found the network code for BT (23415) and with wm6.1 it still comes up with Vodafone.
