Hi.
BT Mobile uses the Vodafone network and that's what it displays on the homescreen.
Beware, the Vodafone settings wont allow you to SMS/MMS as you AREN'T a Voda customer.

has the settings or you could try

Haven't tried this but I think it sends the BT settings to your phone.
There is also 'BT Services' under the Start menu on mine, but that might have been added automatically once I set it up manually - worth a look though.
Hope it helps.

Thanks i will give it a try

Which settings are you missing?
I use Ricky's ROM v23 and BT Anywhere.
Adrian

Does it show BT for the network, cos mine is on Vodafone. Another thread say the BT use the Vodafone network. could you point in the direction of "Ricky's ROM v23 "
and i will give it a try. I have even put the original BT rom back in and found the network code for BT (23415) and with wm6.1 it still comes up with Vodafone.

BT GPRS / BT GPRS MMS Settings
Hi All
I flashed my 620 with the original BT rom and found these settings for GPRS and GPRS MMS, then put the “RUU_Excalibur_WM61_Kavana_080408_WWE” rom back in.
Go to Settings, Connections, GPRS and add the 2 following settings they seem to work, (will let you know when I get my next bill in )
NAME BT GPRS
CONNECT TO THE INTERNET
ACCESS POINT btmobile.bt.com
USER NAME bt
PASSWORD bt
AUTHENTICATION TYPE NONE
PRIMARY DNS 0.0.0.0.
SECONDDRY DNS 0.0.0.0.
IP ADDRESS (leave blank)
NAME BT GPRS MMS
CONNECT TO WAP Network
ACCESS POINT btmobile.bt.com
USER NAME bt
PASSWORD bt
AUTHENTICATION TYPE NONE
PRIMARY DNS 0.0.0.0.
SECONDDRY DNS 0.0.0.0.
IP ADDRESS (leave blank)

Thanks for the settings, just gone with the upgrade 2 and it looks sweet.
How do i get the settings for answer phone?

Orbit connectivity driving me mad

Hi,
I have a new O2 Orbit but its connectivity to GPRS, WiFi and via cable/ActiveSync is driving me mad. In turns one or all of them don't work without me making any changes. O2 support have suggested:
- setting the username/password for GPRS, WAP etc - tried
- cleaning the SIM card - tried
- Hard reset - not tried yet, I don't want to have to re-install all the apps
This forum has suggested setting the setting the second drop down on Network Management to My ISP instead of My Work Network (which seems to be a WAP network). That helped for a while then it stopped.
GPRS thinks it has connected (showing the G icon with various arrows) but just doesn;t transfer any data.
Is this a hardware fault? I have a good signal on WiFi and GPRS but connectivity just comes and goes.
Any ideas?
Jon
It also forgets http proxy settings on the work connection when you run Internet Explorer. So annoying! The orbit is unusable if you need to set a proxy for your wifi.
I am having problems of GPRS connecting when i don't want it too!
Does anyone know of an app or setting that will make the orbit require authorisation to go connecting to GPRS? So i am in control of when i spend money!
I've been looking into this myself and found this on another forum.

I have just installed it and it works perfectly.

MediaNet

Anyone able to connect to the home page in WM6? I used wpbear's cabs to setup up medianet settings. Web works and sling mobile works fine. But can't connect to Medianet.
In WM5, I connected using http://home.
Anyone figure this out?
I use device.home
i dont know about wpbears cabs, but do you have 2 options in your connections? one for MyIsp and one for Media net? if so you will need to switch to media net in order to get to it, as it needs the proxy! If the proxy is missing from the configuration then it wont go to it
I didn't use any cabs...I just configured mine by creating a new network connection and named it Cingular. Then use wireless.cingular.com and localhost as the proxy, create a new modem associate with this connection with apn= wap.cingular and username [email protected] password CINGULAR1... then just hit the browser with http://device.home it will connect to cingular's medianet. You can also create a new network connection named it WiFi, leave all settings blank and use this setting for the wireless.
The only interesting thing I found out is that if you have a online account with Cingular..after you logged in, you'll noticed that it automatically detected your HTC tytn phone..even you change it to other type of phone, couple hours..it will detect that you have a HTC tytn. If I put the SIM onto a Motorola K1, it will show unknow phone...interesting.

I don't want to have to re-create my internet connection everytime I flash my 8525. Anyway to backup my settings or creating a script that will automatically configure my device to use the Cingular configuration?

Phone not automatically connecting to gprs

Hello, im fairly new to these forums and have upgraded my 8525 to the 20070408_RUU_Hermes_WWE_3.24.0.4 wm6 rom. I've also installed the cingular WAP MediaNet MMS Settingsv2.cab to get the cingular settings back. My problem is that my 8525 does not automatically connect to gprs like it used to on wm5. To enable gprs i must go on internet explorer and force it to open gprs. Is there a setting i must go to set it to automatically connect to gprs upon start up? thanks in advance.

hermes(m3100) wifi problem - help please

i have a orange m3100 version of the hermes.
recently i flashed it with schaps 3.54b rom
now i can't use my wifi router/network @ home nor another wifi router/network @ work.
in fact i'm well connected, i'm sure of this because from another computer of the networks, i can ping the (static) ip of my hermes. i tried changing and changing again my ip and tested it.
but the hermes cant go on internet.
i use the right gateway and DNS in each case but no surf in pocket ie.
any solutions or other tests i can do?
in french if possible since i and my rom are in french.
thank you.
update : i made some tests :
it is nos a dns problem : i put the right gateway and dns on the smartphone but i cant get a website by typing its ip in pocket ie adress bar (other browsers dont work better) and i cant even access my router admin interface.
when i'm trying wifi with static ip or dhcp on my m3100, i can ping its ip from another computer of my networks and the smartphone responds ok, and i can see its mac adress in the connected clients on my router config screen. But the smartphone can't ping anyone.
i asked a friend who told me that the proxy (192.168.10.100 :8080 ) used for the connection to orangeworld in gprs/edge is also used when i try to connect via wifi and that is why it cant connect nowhere because my personal network is configured differently and without a proxy.
if i delete the proxy my connections will cost me more when i use gprs.
if i configure my router like this (192.168.10.xxx) with a proxy on 8080 it could work but only on my network and not @ my workplace or somewhere else where network params will be different.
any ideas or solutions ?
wow ! so many people trying to help :/
well i found a temporary solution to my problem, probably not the best one but the best i can do by myself so if someone wants to help : thank you
it was actually a proxy problem.
i looked in the registry and found a key where the proxy adress was detailed : 192.168.10.100:8080
i have exported this value as "proxon.reg"
then i modified the value by deleting its content and i exported the empty value as "proxoff.reg"
now i have my "proxy switch".
before activating the wifi and starting ie, i lauch "proxoff.reg" which clean the registry for the proxy data and magic : ie connects fine.
and when i want tu surf via my provider orange, i desactivate the wifi and launch "proxon.reg" which restore the correct proxy data to the registry. and i can surf on gprs/edge.
all this is fine when i switch off the phone functions in the comm manager.
but now i need someone to tell me how i can automatize this for the wifi and edge connections because if the wifi signal gets too weak, i dont want my phone to switch to the gsm when the proxy is desactivated.
i hope you can understand my english.
please help.
In the last version of BatteryStatus (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=270751) you can find, among the others stuffs, the "Disable Proxy for WiFi" option (see the Tools tab)... Maybe more simple than "regg-in" on and off? I'm ok with it, try and see if it's ok for you also...
Bye!
hey kamaal i just downloaded the batterstatus program but im not seeing the "Disable Proxy for WiFi" option in the Tools tab
***edit:
sorry i downloaded the extended version beta and it was there

many thanks in advance
Since the s620 does not have 3g I have not considered internet dependent applications (ish). That being said it might be easier to get skype running instead.

i have instaled skype but never got it to work any ideas
