Anyone able to connect to the home page in WM6? I used wpbear's cabs to setup up medianet settings. Web works and sling mobile works fine. But can't connect to Medianet.
In WM5, I connected using http://home.
Anyone figure this out?
I use device.home
i dont know about wpbears cabs, but do you have 2 options in your connections? one for MyIsp and one for Media net? if so you will need to switch to media net in order to get to it, as it needs the proxy! If the proxy is missing from the configuration then it wont go to it
I didn't use any cabs...I just configured mine by creating a new network connection and named it Cingular. Then use wireless.cingular.com and localhost as the proxy, create a new modem associate with this connection with apn= wap.cingular and username [email protected] password CINGULAR1... then just hit the browser with http://device.home it will connect to cingular's medianet. You can also create a new network connection named it WiFi, leave all settings blank and use this setting for the wireless.
The only interesting thing I found out is that if you have a online account with Cingular..after you logged in, you'll noticed that it automatically detected your HTC tytn phone..even you change it to other type of phone, couple hours..it will detect that you have a HTC tytn. If I put the SIM onto a Motorola K1, it will show unknow phone...interesting.

I'm using Black v2.0.2. However, I've had this problem with all the WM6 ROMS. In WM5, I was able to connect to the internet through Activesync and sync the weather, news, etc. etc. With the new ROMs, I can no longer do it.
The older versions of Activesync had an option of entering the proxy server info in. Version 4.5 does not any longer. Or at least I can't find it anywhere.
My work proxy server is inetproxy2.home.net. I also believe it is port 80. How do I configure my Hermes to sync all the data with the internet connection through my work rather than connecting to GPRS eventhough I'm already connected to activesync?
Thanks for any help.
Default port
Try port 8080. That's the default port number for most proxy servers.

if the proxy information is inserted into Internet Explorer on your machine ActiveSync will use this and overwrite the proxy configuration on the current enabled/active connection in Connection Manager... but for passthrough to work you have to have a profile setup in activesync....

I have the AT&T 8525 and i just upgraded to WM6 and when i turn my wifi on and then try to connect to the interent by opening my internet browser it says that the connection was lost or what ever. I know my wifi is working though because i have other programs that use the interent and they connect fine! Anybody have any suggestions or help they can guide me through to get past this? Thanks!
yea im having the same problem....
Same here. But I use Opera so it doesn't bother me to much.
Same thing
I experience the samething as well. I did not test connection with other applications but PIE didn't work with Wi-Fi turned on. Thanks
I have the same problem. However, i managed to solve the little bug.
all you have to do is press start menu, click programs, and look for proxy manager, and diable proxy.
It should fix your IE problem when connect using wireless.
good luck!
You wont be able to use wifi with the MediaNet profile, change it to My ISP.. you might also need to change the isp.cingular APN to wap.cingular it depends on what type of data plan you have in the billing system. if you have isp.cingular which is for laptop connects which gives you a real IP then isp.cingular should work.

The other day I flashed to the Black Majik ROM I couldnt connect to the Internet. I changed from MEdia Net to myisp and I was connecting to to the Internet with something called "hspda" I think. I got an H in the status bar instead of the 3g symbol. Is that faster or slower than 3g?? sorry If I sound retarded. English is my second language but I'm trying also I'm not to familiar with windows as I use Linux and BSD on my computers.
Windows Mobile 6 devices offer Internet Sharing feature for Bluetooth and USB. It works in this way that you start Internet Sharing application inside of your Windows Mobile phone and then other devices can share the Internet connection. What if you could fool Windows Mobile phone and instead of Bluetooth use WiFi? Would it be possible? Yes, it is:
how to use Internet Sharing over WiFi, which essentially makes the Hermes an Access Point.
Do the following:
1) Open Settings->Internet Sharing. Enable IS for Bluetooth PAN.
2) Change HKLM\Comm\ConnectionSharing\PrivateInterface to "TIACXWLN1" (it should currently be "BTPAN1").
3) Open Settings-> Connections -> Wi-Fi. Select Network Adapters tab. Click IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi.
4) Enter IP address 192.168.1.1 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Click OK.
5) Select Wireless tab. Add New.. to add the Network name for your ad-hoc network (I prefer "adhoc"
6) Set the client computer to use the same ad-hoc network. Client will receive an IP address from the device (don't need to manually set the IP).
I got this from a different website.

Edward!! you rock! this has got to be the sweetest thing, since wm6..for me atleast, Im actually posting from my old hacked OSX x86, I really cant believe this worked, but it did.
Thanks a ton for sharing the info.
Edward, Can you plse explain why you set the wifi adaptor to a fixed IP?
The 192.168.1.1 is as far as I know only valid if the router has the 192.168.1 range. For me it should be 192.168.123. ...
Thx for an explanation.
a cab would be perfect!
Yes! A very nice feature; could this be put in as a cab?
Or better, in the comm manager.....
Anyone?

I tried the steps to the letter however, I am unable to connect. I tried on one device running Schaps 3.54c & the other vp3G. I get confused after I complete the step "select wireless tab then add new." The new wireless network shows unavailable on my device" I think I'm unsure how to configure the connection on the PC side. I'm unable to get the wireless configurator to allow me to input a specific IP address. I'm using Windows XP Pro. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
OK, I have been resisting, but why would you do this.
If you are using wifi to access the Internet, and the phone and PC both have wifi (in order to use wifi sharing), why not just access the wifi directly from the PC? Sorry to be thick, but I don't see why you would want this?

THANK YOU
I have tried this out and it apprears to work pretty well- thank you so much, I had hoped this would be figured out. i had the idea to do this but not the technical know how.
This is awesome
but you know what would be also interesting?
to be able to share the wifi connection over Bluetooth or usb instead of the cellular.
Basically using the phone as a wifi adapter.
What say you?

Has any one gotten this to work with the 6800? The registry key for bluetooth is different.
Thanks

Actually, it came from this site - we've been discussing it for days in the Development and Hacking forum! It was in this post by Fluxist who'd discovered it in the first place, and the other sites have been following suit... we're working on a more elegant way to do it now. And you directly quoted his post!
I'm going to be trying to write a full-on NAT router for it I think, although we're seeing if we can do a basic version for now.
man, i cannot belive this..
that is amazing

I was thinking the same thing. I frequently stay in foreign hotels in which are "unwired." I'd love to use my phone as the registered device when buying wifi so that I could make VOIP calls and check my e-mails on ground and tether it to my notebook back in the roam. In Dubai, you can get hooked for $30 a day for wifi.

Hi.
BT Mobile uses the Vodafone network and that's what it displays on the homescreen.
Beware, the Vodafone settings wont allow you to SMS/MMS as you AREN'T a Voda customer.

Haven't tried this but I think it sends the BT settings to your phone.
There is also 'BT Services' under the Start menu on mine, but that might have been added automatically once I set it up manually - worth a look though.
Hope it helps.
Thanks i will give it a try

I use Ricky's ROM v23 and BT Anywhere.

Does it show BT for the network, cos mine is on Vodafone. Another thread say the BT use the Vodafone network. could you point in the direction of "Ricky's ROM v23 "
and i will give it a try. I have even put the original BT rom back in and found the network code for BT (23415) and with wm6.1 it still comes up with Vodafone.

Hy, I think the ip which is shown there is providet via DHCP from the DHCP-Server of your carrier. Your Laptop is in the same IP-Area because you use your phone a modem.

hy, i think changing the app doest solve your problem.
You need to be in the same network with your Laptop.
Is there an Error Page in your browser?
You need to Install a Port-Forwarding, or else you cant acess it from the internet, furthermore you need to know the external ip of your college's
network. For further help pm me or write down the ip's an the used networkmask here.
