Bought an XDA IIs on Ebay with a broken screen with the intention of swapping my screen from my imate pda2k evdo to the xda iis. Unit arrives but is totally unserviceable stuffed case etc. Seller exchanged unit for a mint condition one with a good screen but showing all white when turned on. Tried exchanging screens but no improvement.
Unit will synch up to computer with activesynch.
I have tried all the hard/soft/bootloader resets with no change in operation.
I have tried mtty1.42 but cnnot get to the wceusbsh001 stage.
Any suggestions?
Try flashing it with a official rom. I had the same problem with my BA two days ago when I cooked a rom and forgot to check for free space, so the rom was too big and when I booted I got the white screen.
The solution was to cook another rom with basic nothing on it, flash and ta-da! Back to business
Tried to do a rom update from o2 Asia for Australia.
It would not give me a download for its imea number so I used the download for an older xda iis that I had.
Got the following error
error 100 model ID error 25 N 10 10 10
When it listed the version information my unit showed
1.40.00
1.12.00
with no extended image information in between.
Where to from here do you suggest?
I have replaced the BAupgradeut with the MAupgradeUT.
On the first try it came up with model error again.
I then started the process again It showed no device information at all for CE, Extended or Radio and it did a full three stage upgrade.
However the WSOD still continues. I can still explore the device through activesynch/explorer.
If I try to do another upgrade to check the device info it does not register an extended rom version on the device information screen as it was before the upgrade.
Any suggestions

Well i ran the update
http://www.sourceo2.com/O2_Developers/Devices/O2_Xda_II/XdaIIs_launchROM.htm
It started the update then said it wasnt for my device. Its left my unit dead only showing a black screen USB v2.06. Now when I connect it to my desktop Active Sync always says not connected. Seems as if the unit isnt powering the cradle?
Iv tried various restore roms some give diff errors country code errors or just not for the device. But how can I be sure the xda iis is powering the cradle. Any more suggestions before i admit defeat and ring o2? Guess I will never try a update again if one from o2 wrecks my xda II's.
Its arrived on the 29th, so I would say o2 should xchange it for new one
Russ
This is not an update. Its the same version of the firmware that the XDA ships with. Its provided for people who have messed up the rom in their device by installing an incompatible rom version designed for another device (or another manufacturers version of the blue angel). All it does it restore the unit to its shipping state.
Suggest you ship it back for reflashing by O2.
Hopefully, O2 will get around to releasing the update that IMATE users are already using soon (but I am not holding my breath).

hey all, my XDA II O2 is dead, i have a bit of a story to tell about it too. the poor thing won't boot up past the O2 spash screen.
i was initially selling my O2 around the traps as a working unit, then someone asked me to show them landscape view, and i didn't know how. i soon found out i needed to upgrade to 2003se or 2005. so on my homage to flashing my O2's ROM. i went and tried a 2005 and some random version radio stack hoping to upgrade two things at once, then, only one worked. my OS flash was fine, but my radio ROM didn't work at all. so basically i could get into WM2003, 2003SE, 2005 fine but couldnt use my simcard.
i've tried countless times to manually fix it aswell as using the official O2 ROM update off their site. then i went and sent it to O2 customer service or whatever it's called this year . they charged me $45AUD for general service fee which included flashing the radio and OS roms up to the latest. then they ring me up one morning saying my poor O2 needs a new motherboard (somewhere between $350 - 450 i think). i asked why, they said because it wouldn't power on at all. so i tried turning it on, it didnt work all of a sudden, so to speak.
i still had to pay the $45aud and ended up without a working O2, at all.
i felt furious but helpless and tried not to have to pay the fee, but had to.
long story short, heh, i need to do something with my shell of a XDA II, either sell, sell parts, fix, find a special ROM flash that might fix it. i don't know, i've tried so hard and have gotten nowhere. so, guys, any insight in what i could/should do?? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
OH OH OH also, on that note, i can't go into bootloader mode or any other mode at all, so i cant re-flash
Threaten to sue. It worked partially when you sent it to them as it would power up - they've made it worse.
Richard

Hi,
My MD's XDA IIs keeps hanging at the O2 boot screen (white screen). I have done the usual thinks soft reset, hard reset and complete rebuild. It will be stable for a short period then nothing will work. Then when you reboot it, you just get stuck at the boot screen or a white screen.
I have also tried completely draining external and internal battery and starting again.
I have a feeling the unit needs to be sent for repairs, having said that has anyone any ideas of what else I can try?
Thanks
Tried loading the latest o2 rom from o2's website?
Richard
Hi Richard,
Have tried this and still no joy.
Ben
2yr warranty on XDA's if you are the original purchaser.
0808 100 3427
No impact marks / water damage ? And the warranty sealis still intact?
If it's out of warranty dependant on the LCD fitted ( there are 2 ) I can supply a used replacement mainboard for £50 or fit it to your unit for £65.
Same day turnaround for £70. It's easier than trying to troubleshoot your existing board but if you want to then the first thing I would try is check internally for water damage and if found remove with a fibreglass pencil.
After loading the latest rom there isn't really anything else you can do software wise.
Richard
Hi Richard,
I will speak to my MD (who is out playing golf at the minute) on Monday and see what he wants to do. As I think he is due for an upgrade.
Thanks for your help.
Ben
Have you tryed mtty method ?
Has anyone seen this problem or know what this might be?
Using Hermes 100 (8525) and Pandora or Schap latest builds
Screen fades to white and only returns to normal after hard reset.
Never had this problem before using Pandora almost exclusively until the problem occured.
Thanks, Tom

Warranty time!... Unless you are good in taking the phone apart and fixing the loose wire connection, I would recommend returning the phone if still under Warranty. If out of warranty, then you have to pay to get it repaired. The warranty is for 12 months from first day of service. If you are not sure whether phone has warranty left or not, call the AT&T Phone Repair at 1-800-801-1101, and give them the IMEA number printed on the back of the phone under the battery. AT&T will then tell you if your phone is still covered or not.
Good luck..
I was afraid of that...
Thanks for your help!
A friend of mine had this happen to her JasJam. I pulled it apart as per the video instructions (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsljpn74SW0) and checked all the connections were good and tight. Also, if you search these forums you will find a thread on this subject where a couple of other chips in the phone are mentioned. I made sure these were not loose, and reassembled the phone. It fixed the problem....so far. Good luck!
Get in the bootloader and check it for bad blocks (info 8). If there are some you can attempt to fix them (task 2a) provided you have Hard-SPL installed.
Not a guaranteed fix, but something to check before sending it in.
Had this problem, reflashed phone back to 'offical' tmobile rom, and sent off for repair.
Had a 24 month warrenty, so came back.
Diagnosis was 'main board failure'.
Said it had been repaired, however a brand new one was delivered

If you decide to send off your 8525 for exchange make sure you flash back to OEM ( AT&T) rom. If you leave any cooked rom on they might not honor the warranty work. If you are experiencing white screen at all times, place the unit in a zip-lock plastic bag and leave in freezer for 5 minutes. then turn on and flash with AT&T Rom.
Hi all ,
I have been using my UK orbit for about a year with no problem (so far). For the the past two weeks though after a random use of 2 to 5 minutes it freezes! It either stays with what is on screen or returns a white screen. From today also the led is not turning on while charging and it wont turn on !!
I tried re flashing, rebooting, putting back the older ROM but the symptoms happen, no matter what ROM or application is used.
A few days before this started if a remember correct I had bled dry the battery (in flight). But everything was ok for some time.
I would be really glad if someone could help me out, I really like ORBIT and wouldn't like to leave it. Keep up the good work for this magnificent site
I had the exact same problem with my P3300. It's a malfunction in the Motherboard. I've called the dutch helpdesk and because a hard reset didn't do much good the PDA was picked up later that day to be sent to Eurotwice, the repair station in Belgium. I got my phone back 2 weeks later, I started it and it froze again! So I immediatly called HTC Netherlands and again, the P3300 was picked up by UPS that afternoon. The second time I wrote a letter to the repair station and sent it with my phone. In another topic on another website I read that some other phone with the same problem had been fixed by replacing the motherboard. I got my phone back today and it works great! It hasn't crashed today, and I have confidence it won't in the future. So my tip to you and anyone who experiences this problem: Call the HTC helpdesk in your country and ask them to sent your PDA to a repair station. It might take a while but they fix it well! By the way, you have 2 years full garantee so it didn't cost me anything! Great service from HTC!
