If you're using the Xda IIs, and you need a Java Midlet manager, there's one already installed: Start->Programs->Midlet Manager

I have an 02 XDA IIs
I just downloaded the ARM version of Pocket CMD.
Put my device in the cradle, and then run the install from my PC.
It then installed the app into my system memory.
My XDAIIs displayed a message "This program may not work correctly as it is designed for a previous version of windows" So I click OK.
Then go into programs and click the 'pocket cmd' icon and it says "Cannot Find pocketcmd.exe or one of it's componets"
Bugger.
Did I do something wrong, or does it just not generally work?
I urgently need telnet, it will make my life much easier!
Please Help
"This program may not work correctly as it is designed for a previous version of windows"
This is the entire answer..
Pocket CMD doesn't work under SE...
The error you get, isn't because of the SE incompability, but if you fix it.. ..it still won't work!
But you are lucky!
There are several telnet applications available that doesn't require CMD.
freewareppc.com has several that are free..
I use z-term, but this is not free..
Me, I need CMD to compile c++ on the device.. Not so easy to find a replacement application..
Sorted!
Many Thanks!!!
PocketCMD
you can download PocketCMD from here http://www.hpc.ru/soft/software.phtml?id=8396
Ever since the new custel, lsvw, black 3.0 and etc... I can't get gmail to work well on any of them. I installed the new midlet fix and still nothing - anyone fixed the problem?
Do those use the Java applet?
If so and it's the same one as Custel 2.5 (not sure about the other ROMs):
1. Attempt to download the gmail applet from the Get Faster gmail link from http://gmail.google.com
2. After waiting for the Midlet Manager to complete, exit both the browser and Midlet Manager.
3. Open the Java applet and select the option on the Menu to Install from a local source (which should be there after it fails to download successfully from the google site; a .jad file sitting in My Documents).
I have the file on my phone. If you need it, please advise. Hopefully, this helps.

Could you please post the .jad file. Whenever i goto the site for the faster gmail it detects my phone as LG CU500 for some weird reason. And the one it downloads, the login button wont work.
Thanks in advance for your help.
^^^ You can easily tell it that you are not that phone and will give you the option to download the 'general' J2ME version.
I know you can do that because sometimes I change my phone to be seen as a PC and I get an error close to what you are getting.
Worse case scenario, you can find and download the app to you PC then transfer to your phone. It will take you only a few minutes.
Please try again. If not there are other sites that have the java app. No disrespect but don't act as a lazy noob.
It sees my Softbank X01HT as a Dopod 730 (something close to this). I have attached the file; hopefully, this is what you are looking for.
Rename the file to gm-Generic-Advanced-MIDP2.jad (in other words, delete the .zip extension; it is NOT a zip file).

Why midlet?
Isn't it more convenient to have gmail connect with the standard inbox rather than a java midlet? That way you can set it to check your mail in your specified time frame? I've had it working with all roms i've tried this far, (dutty, lsvw, black, and custel)
wow.. the midlet works fine - better than the version detected as LG when we download from gmail directly.
Hi guys,
I'm trying to run a regedit program on my 02 XDA 11s.
I have tried several, and when I try to run the setup or exe I get the following message:
"There is no application associated with SETUP. Run the application first then open this file from within the application"
Any ideas, it must be something simple as I have tried several different programs and all experience this problem.
Thanks in advance,
Rob.
whats the file type ?
cab
exe if it's exe you should make sure it's not a pc activesync install
if it's zip
or rar
you should make sure that you have a unpacker for those 2
I think the program I tried to run was not for my mobile device.
Is there a stand-alone regedit program avaiable that I can download.
Thanks,
Rob.

Many thanks.
I think I need to connect via the Sync cable and use the ActiceSync cable as most applications seem to have to be installed this way.
Thanks,
Rob.
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but a forum search revealed nothing...
How do I install .NET 3.5 on my Touch HD?
I have installed Advanced Congif , and it tells me i need to install .NET in order for it to work.
I downloaded the .net redistributable file from the MS website (filename is NETCFSetupv35.msi), but when I try to run it on my HD as I would with a .cab file, it tells me there's no associated program to run it.
I guess it has to be installed some other way (through ActiveSync maybe?), but I don't know.
Any helpful soul out there care to put me out of my misery?
Cheers in advance
Pete
Yes it has to be done through Activesync.
run it on your pc, and it will install on your device (or next time you connect if you're not connected when you run it)
It says on the microsoft download page...:
This package uses ActiveSync 4.0 to update the device. Before running NETCFSetupv35.msi, connect your device to your PC. If your device is not connected, ActiveSync will store the CAB file and will not install the package until you connect. If you are not using ActiveSync, run the CAB files on the device that correspond to the device–specific CAB files found in the install folder.

Instructions
Click the Download button on this page to start the download, or choose a different language from the drop-down list and click Change.
Do one of the following:
To start the installation immediately, click Open or Run this program from its current location.
To copy the download to your computer for installation at a later time, click Save or Save this program to disk.

I did not use ActiveSync to install it. I can't remember where I found it, but it has some kind of "Microsofts digital signature", so I think it's the right one...

Thanks!
Thanks guys,
sorted, using the .cab (couldn't work out how to do it with Activesync).
Can't install :-(
Nooo! I have a problem...
I had some trouble with .NET CF 3.5, and then I wanted to reinstall it, but when I uninstalled it, and then tried to install it again, it didn't work.
It doesn't work through ActiveSync AND the cab. Do anyone know whats wrong here, or do I need to start a new thread?
Is your ActiveSyns up to date? And did you download the file from the mircosoftsite? I reïnstalled the file yesterday..

My ActiveSync is okay, and the cab is from the microsoft site...
EDIT:I think something is wrong with my phone, but I don't want to do a Hard reset.
Installed no problem if you use your PC to get the CAB just pop in onto the memory card, bung it in your phone and using file explorer locate file and install onto your device. Easeeee
Even easier would be to use PIE and visit this site/thread and follow the link to download directly onto phone then do above in File Explorer

When I use a kitchen to make a custom Rom for example GSM kitchen for Diamond, a pop up appears that says ''the program need administrative privileges to run'' or sumthing and then it closes itself... I have the prob with all kitchens when I run the execute.
What did I do wrong? Or maybe Vista conflict with it..
Anyone have the same prob???
Thanks in advance

You have to click on the exe file with the mouse right button and run as administrator.
