How do I change the Bluetooth file received location - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Ok im going nuts, normally i can find, or figure it out myself, but on this one i need help.
How do I change the Bluetooth file destination (to my memoy card) when "beaming" or sending a file from device to device.
It is in none of the settings on the actual device (that i can find), i have downloaded a registry editor onto the phone but despite my efforts i still cant seem to find where the default path is stored in the HKEY's.
Does anyone know, whether there is a program to do it, a HKEY to modify or simply a setting to change. Any help would be greatly appreciated, by me and my hair.
Device : O2 XDA Atom
OS: Window Mobile 2005
Owner: Loosing hair rapidly

Solution for Navman GPS

Please get the file http://www.angeltowns.com/town/bluetooth/EnableCharPin.zip
- Copy the file EnableCharPin.exe to you PDA
- Start the bonding dialog until you get the password screen
- Now launch the explorer and start the executable (you will get a small message)
- Get back to the password screen (if you don't find it click on the BT icon in the today screen)
- Characters are now enabled
To Gary: I replied to your mail but I get the following error: The destination server for this recipient could not be found in Domain Name Service (DNS). Please let me know if this solution works for you.

i need your help with the bt patch
Hi,
I have downloaded the file from
http://www.angeltowns.com/town/bluetooth/EnableCharPin.zip
and looked for the exe file, to run in my xda2.
The exe is a PC installer (didn't work in my xda - not a valid win32 app...)
I finished the installtion process, and now in my add / remove programs i have "Bluetooth Character Password Enabler".
But when i'm trying to bond with my Navman,
still only numbers can be entered.
Any idea?
(maybe someone have the EXE to run on my ppc, not the installer?)
Thanks in advance,
Tomer
This is a bit unclear, I used towa´s patch like said earlier, followed exactly the instructions and could enable the charpin, and enable my navman
just download and COPY the patch to your xda true activ sync or whatever, and the start the bonding procedure, and when the screen for the pasword comes up, you lanch the explorer on your xda look for the charenable pin, click on it, it will give the message charpin now enabled, close the explorer and type in NAVMAN in big font, and it works perfect.
let us know if you got it to work
Thanks for you quick response.
I tried to do the process as explained:
copyed the file EnableCharPin.exe into my ppc
(via active sync), turned on my navman,
start BT, look for devices, found the navman gps one, next,
and now when the password screen appears i went to "my documents", clicked on the file, and than the error message 'EnableCharPin' is not a valid Pocket PC application" appears.
Any idea?
I saw a post in the forum about registry key or hack, to enable it,
whithout further information.
Thanks,
Tomer
Problem with EnableCharPin
The work that has gone into tying to solve the issue is impressive.
Unfortunately I have the same experience with the response 'EnableCharPin' is not a valid Pocket PC application'
Does anyone have a way to accomplish inputting alpha characters via changes in the registry?

I have NAVMAN GPS and have the same error. Can anyone explain how is it possible that one can run Windows installer on XDA??
I have just installed this WIDCOMM BT manager. This thing at least is not asking for any pincode so I can easily establish the connection but later on i am not getting any data on the port. I am using ArcPad application by ESRI and I am supposed to use port 8 for GPS.
Can anyone tell me why there is no data comming thru the port?
Another problem is that the connection is lost after few minutes...
it works 4 me now
I did hard reset (upgraded my os / radio to 1.66.00 , 1.10.00)
disabled multilingual support,
installed the exe (FROM MY PC, NOT FROM THE DEVICE ITSELF),
and it solved the problem.
In the pairing process I managed to write NAVMAN (capital letters!),
without any problem
I hope it helps...

Hey Tomer !
Thanks for your tip. I have had problems with the connection, but I used your tip, and now it works perfect.

Navman bonding
I dont have a problem getting the XDA II to bond with it, the problem I have is I can only select Com 7 in the Bluetooth tools menu and when I go to set up the GPS in Smartst it wont let me select Com 7.
Anyone have any ideas
I have a XDA and a Navmann 4100. A couple of weeks ago my Navmann dealer sent me the patch EnableCharPin & BTHTools1012 and I started the bond between the PPC and the 4100 and all went fine but a couple of days ago I suffered and full reset on the ppc and now I can not bond the ppc and the 4100 anymore.
Can someone tell what shall I do to bond once again the ppc and the 4100?
I have tried several times with the same process as before (EnableCharPin & BTHTools1012) but I had no succes, the ppc does not allow me to write Navmann, it only lets me write numbers.

I had this same problem when I had to do a hard reset with mine couldnt get it to rebond. The only way I managed it was to re install the character enable program. It seems to be specific on which order you do it unfortunately I cant remember what it was. I had to try it a few times myself for it to work.
The way I have managed to do it in the past is to make sure the PPC device is connected to your PC via active synch when you attempt to enter the characters (NAVMAN) That seems to in some way enable the enablecharaterpin software on the PPC. Let me know how you get on.

probably the wrong place to ask but could that be used with the palm os ? ie charpin .exe

Hard to say... I believe that a guy called towa wrote this for PPC, but if you look up his user name here and e-mail or PM him he might know
Hope that helps

Blueangel: Idea to SIMLOCK.EXE

Hello!
I had an idea to the horrible "simlock.exe" from the blueangel:
We all know that the "simlock.exe" is write-protected in the rom. So i have searched (with Total-Commander CE) in which other files is standing "simlock.exe" too. And i found the "rilgsm.dll". But this "rilgsm.dll" is write-protected too.
Ok.
I searched now the registry and wooow: I found "rilgsm.dll" in "HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL" under the String-value called "dll". When I renamed this "dll" to "xdll" (described in much other things under BA-Hacks) the GSM-Phone isn't working.
My solution:
I copied the "rilgsm.dll" to my PC, opened it with Ultra-Edit 32 and found "\Windows\simlock.exe". I wrote now "\Window2\simlock.exe" in this "rilgsm.dll" and saved it as "rilgsm2.dll" and copied this new "rilgsm2.dll" back to the Blueangel under "\Windows". In the registry i wrote under "HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL" under "dll" now "rilgsm2.dll" so that the system now will start my modified "rilgsm2.dll". I also made a new directory called "\Window2" and copied the "AddRingtone.exe" as "simlock.exe" in this new directory "Window2".
So now when I reset the Blueangel it works with my T-Mobile-SIM-Card. So now i haven't another SIM-Card from an other provider, this i will test tomorrow.
But maybe someone can use my idea and will build an crack for this horrible "simlock.exe"
Who knows....
==========
Please let me know when you test my idea and when it works or not...
THANK YOU!!!!!

Status: Blueangel: Idea to SIMLOCK.EXE
This message is for everybody who is interesting what i've found out:
The "rilgsm.dll" is the "Radio Interface Layer". In the BlueAngel this "rilgsm.dll" calls the "simlock.exe" for the correct SIM-Card. The "simlock.exe" gives a lot of result-codes back to the "rilgsm.dll".
My solution in the moment (I hope that i'm on the right way):
On my phone I've modified the "rilgsm.dll" so that it doesn't call the simlock.exe anymore. In this moment when i put in a other sim-card as T-Mobile the phone asks me for the PIN-Code of the new sim BUT then the phone brings me an error "unknown sim-status".
So I hope now that i find out what is necesary for the BlueAngel that it will accept a sim-card from an other provider.
If aomebody has an idea pleas feel free to write me...
good job!
yeah,i think you are are on the right way,i will test your idea.
I dont know if this is any help but i found it on a rival forum (GSM-forums)
Unlock pocket pc PPC 4100 solution here ...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
u just need to replace a file on windows folder file name is ( rilgsm.dll )
1. sync your PPC with your computer
2. Download the attached file in this post, rilgsm.dll
3. In active Sync - hit the "EXPLORE" button
4. Double click on PPC and then on the "windows"
directory
5. Copy rilgsm.dll into that directoy , and replace
the existing one
6. Turn off the PPC and then do a soft reset - take
the stylus and breifly poke it in the "reset" hole on
the rear of the unit ( opposite side of the antena).
The unit should then reboot
7. Take out your battery- put in your sim card
8. DONE!!!!!
Here is a files u will need

I tried it, but it doesn't work on the BlueAngel. After you replace the dll, the wireless radio switch of the phone turns on/off the Bluetooth
As for the phone functions: it says a wireless radio needs to be attached to use them...
Could be a place to start, although from what I've learned here so far, you can't (read: shouldn't be able to) unlock the phone just by hacking the rilgsm.dll. Or am I mistaken?
Status: Blueangel: Idea to SIMLOCK.EXE
Hello!
What is the status for my idea to hack the simlock?
I can't hack correct the "rilgsm.dll" only with a hex-editor. And I haven't the tools to dump the communications between the "rilgsm.dll" and the "simlock.exe". As I say in my last post in the moment the solution is that the BlueAngels doesn't ask anymore for the unlock code, but it says "Unknown sim status" when I put in an other sim-card from an other provider.
So in the moment i'll try to get a unlocked version of the BlueAngel. I know somebody who has unlocked versions of the BlueAngel.
When I get such a device first I will make a rom backup.
Then I will compare the file "rilgsm.dll" from the unlocked device with the file from the locked device.
Maybe i must flash my locked device with the complete rom of an unlocked device, i don't know.
I can't say I'm on the right way, but I will not give up in this moment.
I think to get the unlocked device will last approximately two weeks. So wish me luck!
Greetings, Peter

htvi,
Could you provide the .uif file that was extracted by the imei-check tool for each imei/unlock code combination? with those it should be possible to figure out how the people at www.imei-check.co.uk are extracting the unlock code!
Thanks in advance,
JDH
P.S. If anyone else has such information i.e. IMEI, Unlock code and the imei-check .uif data file (as extracted from each Blue Angel) that would be of a great help!

a few specific ROM issues

i have been compiling my own ROM using the available tools. it is almost at what i would call perfect, except for a few issues that i am unable to solve. any knowledge and help would be highly appreciated!
1) in the Control Panel, i would like to remove the following items:
encryption
managed programs
usb to pc
2) setting the IE homepage: I have set (by adding to an .rgu file)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Abouturls]
"home_0409"="http://www.google.com/m/classic"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Abouturls]
"home"="http://www.google.com/m/classic"
but no matter, after i flash, it always goes to "http://mobile.htc.com"
obviously my settings are being overridden elsewhere, but i have searched for hours and have not found where from.
3) i am trying to delete the registry entry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
"Extension"="Rilphone.dll"
i have placed in an .rgu file the following entry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
"Extension"=-
but no matter, the first entry is always present after flashing.
4) i cannot figure out where the Resco Explorer registration info is located so i can have it registered from the start. i have search and found that i am by no means not the only one with this problem, but no one has reported success.
5) i am using the Vista Cube, and somehow the name entries for the "email" and "sms" tiles have been switched. once, again, i have placed correcting entires, but they are apparently being overridden.
other than these issues, i have created my perfect rom! if anyone can help on any of these, please do report. thank in advance.
P.S. i have posted the same here and here.

Any other solutions, please?!
Thanks in advance.
Problem may be cause of your SD card if u r using WM6. SD card PowerManagment value is set("DisablePowerManagment") to 0 in your registry. This means after a while your device will set your SD card power off for savg batttery. This cause to unread your program files etc while u start any program on your form your SD card device.
I fixed this problem like that;
By any registry editor:
Find the Path:
"Hkey_local_machine>drivers>sdcard>clientdrivers> class >SDMemory_Class"
after that find;
""DisablePowerManagement"" key and set its value to "1" than save and exit. Than soft reset your device. Problem will be fixed.
Sorry for my bad english.
Windows Mobile powered devices are shipped with default security settings.
The security model enables Mobile Operators to make post-production changes to security settings.
This can place significant restrictions on software which has not been signed and approved.
However you can change the default settings.
Take control of applications on your phone.
"All listed settings are decimal"
1. Connect the phone through ActiveSync.
2. Run your favorite remote registry editor "CeRegEditor (Download)" "Mobile Registry Editor (Download)" on your PC. http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl/
3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies
Unsigned Prompt Policy:
This policy indicates whether the user is prompted to accept or reject unsigned .cab, theme, .dll and .exe files.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies
DWord = 0000101a Data = Use the following-->
0 = Indicates user will be prompted.
1 = Indicates user will not be prompted.
you will set that register decimal 1. that is solved problem
I have a HTC Tytn II and i get the same error. However, When trying to alter data using the reg editor you recommended, i found the 0000101a was already set to 1. Any other ideas?
Hi All,
Would someone be so kind to me a explain how I can move a package from the EXT directory or one Kitchen to the EXT directory on this version of kitchen.
I thought I could just simply copy the directory? So I had a go compiling a version of youtube from a different kitchen It would seem mot to work thou as I get the dreaded The file 'xx' cannot be opened. Ether it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring the file.
Any ideas how to get this to work?
Or look for the tool MsSigner, it can be found in most kitchens.
You'll be able to sign it with a signature that is accepted after you aply the enablyRapi and SPCCerts policies.
You're probably missing a key dependency package like dshow (mshow?) or concurrence manager. Also, make sure the shortcut path is valid. Lord knows why, but that's the message you get for bad shortcuts.

Config failed (0x80070005): Access is denied

Hi there,
I have a new Q9h (my 3rd). It arrived yesterday with WM6.1. As I have in the past, I did a regiedit to remove file size limits for ring tones and alarms; then I used enableRAPI to organize my start menu.
Today, I connected my phone to my computer and figured I'd try Motorola Software Update. It found and update and didn't give me an option to back out. It seems to have applied a security patch making external registry edits through activeSync impossible and doesnt allow enableRAPI to connect.
I used RESCO registry editor on my Q and took care of the file size limit... but I am EAGER to modify my start menu.
When I run enaableRAPI (it's from the zip file with the .bat, xml and .exe files) i get this:
Config failed (0x80070005): Access is denied.
I called Moto.. they said if ActiveSync is working (which it is) this is likely something put in place to prevent hacks and means that the software is not compatible.
I am SOOOO annoyed! I spent my money on this darn phone and some a$$hole programmer at M$ or AT&T or MOTO gets to decide how I can access my stuff.
Please help. =(
thanks.
Solution.. sorta
Resco Explorer... slower than other ways.. but it works..
