I'm attempting to install iMate JasJar ROM on my SPV M5000 as detailed in the sticky topic "EXEC SUMMARY: TIPS n TRICKS to make your JasJar run well" in the Universal forum.
So far, it hasn't worked
Here's what I'm doing:
1) Downloaded https://www.clubimate.com/support/JASJAR/ROM/JASJAR_WWE_11353_137_10301.zip
2) Sync then reset the M5000
3) Left it plugged in, ran the JASJAR_WWE_11353_137_10301.exe
4) Click next, then it is "checking the information on your device"...
5) Then it says "Error 101: Connection Error" and have to exit.
I have tried this over and over, and on another PC with AS4.1 installed. Keep getting this error.
Any ideas?

You have to try do not syncronize with AS,so, just click in setting conection in AS y keept disable conect with usb and COM.
Yeh, I've tried turning off connection options in ActiveSync. The little red cross shows on my tray icon, but getting "Error 101 Connection Error".
I've also had Error 120: Country ID Error.
I have tried running the update in bootloader mode. Still doesn't work so I reset out of that.

You have to use MaUpgradeUt_NoID.exe to bypass the country error, since you're going from one manufacturer's ROM to another.

Thanks for the advice... I tried downloading, unzipping, copying to PPC and installing MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe. It just gives error "This is not a valid PPC application" when you double-click it in the PPC file explorer.
Any ideas? Is this the right version of the file? Am I missing something?
No no u dont put the MayaNOID.exe on your ppc...
look in the folder of the jasjar rom you should see an executable romupgutt.exe (the only executable in the folder with a picture), simply copy the NO Id .exe into the rom folder and delete the rom upgrade utility executable thats already there.
Connect your M5000 via usb, kill activesync then launch the No ID upgrader. If it fails the first time, running it a second time usually does the trick

Just unlocked my ext_ROM using buzz's unlocker. Have copied the orange CAB files to desktop PC and will attempt to run them after rom upgrade. Will let you know how it went.

The JasJar rom I have is just a single executable to run on the desktop PC. There's no folder... should there be?
Maybe I don't have the right files?
I have
JASJAR_WWE_11353_137_10301.exe
ROMUpgradeUt.exe (downloaded randomly from somewhere)
MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe (downloaded from forum.xda-developers.com)
But yeh - the latter two ask for RUU.dll when I run them on the PC.
Should I have a folder full of other files, where do I get them?
The RUU.dll file is inside the JASJAR...exe file. Right-click on the executable and extract it to a folder using WinRAR or WinZip that is installed on your PC. Then, you can copy the MaUpgradeUt_NoID.exe to that folder and run it.

Haha - I tried using Winzip and WinRar to extract the archive (it's self-executable right?)
Anyway - didn't work (error was that it could not be recognised by the app). So used filemon to determine what it was writing to and found it under docs and settings\username\local settings\temp.
Sorry I'm being a complete lamer. Just very scared I'm going to end up with brick!
So, I now have this screen. It shows a Magician! Can I use it for my Universal?
Why doesn't it have the update version information??! I'm scared!

As far as I know, I don't think the ROM can be dumped. Nor have Orange released a ROM update and so it's not available anywhere!
Reason I want to put iMate ROM on is to test if there are any performance gains to be made. People seem to recommend updating to iMate ROM. Either way it's an experiment.
BUT - I'm still loathed to go through the process .... can someone who's done it post and confirm that it's ok to use the Magician update wizard AND that it's ok that the version info isn't shown in the update screen (see above)?

i tried it on my spv m5000 using the files listed above. got past the magician screen. didn't work. just said that the rom didnt suit the machine because its from a different country. then the program ended.
still, I have recently been reading that the qtek rom is the one to go for.

Appologies if this has already been covered, I had a look around and couldn't find anything though.
As anyone who's installed the new I-Mate ROM and Extended ROM will be aware. The extended ROM removes the rather nice "Wireless" information panel from the Today Screen.
I have managed to restore it on my device, and have posted the reg file for anyone else who misses this addition.
can this be used on the o2 rom, if not can sum1 post a cab for the app? this wee program sounds interesting

Try placing this dll into your Windows directory, then run the reg file.
No promises though.
didnt work, i had that dll aswell, nothing messed up so i assume they wer the same, i want to get this cos it looks dead handy
It worked here.
1. download the dll and place it in \windows\ dir.
2. run the reg file from MDA.
3. go to settings => today => items. en check wireless en press OK.
the item will appear on your today screen. thnx for the tip.

these files are the good ones. the dll file is 0 Bytes, but working here. first past the dll and AFTER that run the reg file.

ok ive been looking at this dll, or actually i cant, wen u extract the file it is extracted, however it is not available at all, as in it does not show up, not even as a hidden file, i have no security setting regarding the extraction of zip files or any other compressed file, the funny thing is wen i go to extract it again in the same place as before it asks to replace the file, i dont know wat the craic is with this, could u please modify ur attributes of the file from not being hidden or read only just to be safe and upload it again please

Everybody should have the DLL in win dir, since it's not used only for the wireless app. Just have a look enambling the "show all files" option in explorer.
Observations with ROM 1.20.32 WWE
OK my observations are that
netui.dll is in the ROM and does not show in Pocket File Explorer at all, not even when set to "Show all"
If you use Resco Explorer 5.15 you can find if

It is a Read-only, Hidden, System, ROM file
Adding the registry settings does not enable the today pluggin.
I just tested this on my Wizard (K-JAM) and it works a treat.
The dll was part of the i-mate ROM already so once the registry keys had been added, the plugin enabled immediately (no soft-reset required).

Agreed. I also tested this registry change with my T-mobile A2DP rom and with no luck.
The registry add the selection under setting / today / item but when you select and it doesnt show on the today screen.
It may only work with 1.30 ROM.
I bought a MDA2 off ebay and it said in the ad it had WM2005 on it, i figured it was a typo so i went ahead and bought it. ANyway i got the MDA and it has WM2005! The main reason i bought it was to run tomtom navigator 5, now i managed to install it but the backlight refuses to work. I just want to know where i can download the original rom from as i dont want WM2005 because its not designed for the phone....
Tried to be clever and i downloaded a rom from the o2 website and tried to reflash the phone with that rom, it came up with some error message and it totally crapped out my mda. My mda is now on a dark screen that says serial v1.02 and when i put it in the cradle it changes to USB v1.02. Tried running different roms but its not accepting any. Activesync is not picking the device up anymore...

ok, try hard resetting your phone, it should boot back into WM5, you will then need to download a wm2003 rom (check the WIKI for options and choose one) and install that (again the wiki should hold all the information you need)
( i didnt tell you this in the first place because i was looking to find an official o2 uk rom, however you need to give them your imei, and o2 phone number to do that, somthing i dont have )

Ok firstly, hard reset (holding power whilst placing stylus in reset hole) is the first thing i tried, its not having non of it. Just shows USB v1.02. I was able to download the rom from the o2 website by giving my IMEI of this tmobile phone (how? i dont know). There was an error durin the installation which caused my mda to crap out. Its not going past that screen at all.

k, this hapened to me earlier todday as it happens (i was testing ivans new rom)
the reason it was caused is that the operator ID is set wrong, to fix this follow these instructions:
go to "c:\documents and settings\your_username\local settings\temp" and delete everything there.
run the origional o2 upgrade DONT PRESS NEXT OR ANYTHING, JUST START IT.
go back to "c:\documents and settings\your_username\local settings\temp"
there should be a new folder created, copy this to a tempory location.
extract the contents of this attached zip file into that copied directory.
double click on setoperator.bat
run the HimaUpgradeUt.exe in that folder to put your phone back to the wm2003 os.
if this doesn't work then i'm stumped, sorry
when i run the o2 upgrade it just shows a plf183.tmp file, no folders... ill try afew more things

Somebody please help me, i was trying to upgrade my hx2110 from WM2003SE to WM6,yeah it was my fault..i didn't follow the instruction very well... i was stupid, upgrading using SP29xxxx(2003 Update ROM from HP) then swap the NBF Files...upgrade complete, and now He's dead.. Pre-BL still works, but i have no luck to reflash, HPRUU flashing stop at 0.1% and it says "Congratulation...blaa..blaa" but nothing happened to my hx2110..i used to read the step to unbrick hx2110, but i don't have another iPAQ hx2000 series to do the trick..is there any other way to un-brick my iPAQ ? please help...sorry for my bad english...
well, you are sure that you are setting it into pre-bl the way you are supposed to? (it will say USB in the bottom left corner, not usb is connected) and you have deleted the whole ipaq folder off of your hard drive and (C:/ipaq) and run that service pack again right?

sorry for being afk right now but I'm out and about (im posting this from my treo). you should take a look at the chrismrulz bootloader. its supposed to help when nothing else can. I'm surprised that the pre-bl isn't helping you fix you problem.
edit: i'll take a look tonight and see what I can do about helping you get your device up. if anyone else has any ideas, feel free to post
edit 2: I took a look around for ideas and the only one that still seems viable is grabbing another ipaq (either borrowing one from a friend or paying $10-40 on ebay and getting one you can hold onto for parts). good luck with your pda and next time don't let your excitement get in the way of methodically reading and executing the instructions. It doen't detect Model ID and ROM but, this HPRUU allow me to flash...
The Process stops at 0.1% but, the flasher lies to me it said "Congratulation..bla..bla..bla"

i always run all of my updates from 'white screen bootloader' aka pre-bl. hmm... that's a very interesting screenshot. is it charging the battery still when you plug it into the dock... also make sure that after it says pre-bl and you put it in the cradle that you hit the calendar button so that it goes from usb is connected to usb. also, do you have a power adapter hooked up to your dock or are you trying to do it just over USB?
as far as trying mtty, if you want to try it in a really easy form try chrismrulz' bootloader. here is the download link for it. it prepares your rom and then uses mtty to upload to your device. make sure to turn off activesync on your computer (right click on the greyed-out icon and go to options and deactivate almost all of them). then you take that, plus your original firmware rom and put it on a folder on your hard drive with no spaces in the path (i put mine in C:/bootloader). you then run bootloader.exe and just let it do it's thing. I don't click on any of the pop-ups, other than to show it where the rom is. I hope this works for you

WOOOOHOOOOOO!!!! I've made it, now my hx2110 running WM6 4PDA Version!!! Here's the step :
1.) Download SP29795.EXE from :

2.) Flash it using SP2975 RUU, it will flash your bricked iPAQ into WM2003SE 1.00.14
3.) Oops, flash completed..but some error has been occured..it won't enter WM2003SE
4.) Don't panic, reflash your iPAQ using SP29795 RUU, but swap the NBF From SP29865.exe

5.) Start flashing, after finished..voila! WM2003SE 1.10.09 should works..

This happened to me a long time ago and solved it by changing the ROM and then going back to the one I wanted

I fixed it by reseting into bootloader, then hard resetting, then re-aligned 4 or 5 times and it finally worked.
i tried everything. i changed the rom then i restarted it. i do hard reset but anything can not solved problem. wich rom have you tried?

connect your htc to pc when align screen appears. then, using pc explorer delete folowing file on htc: \Windows\welcome.exe
this can solve your problem.
go back to previous rom.

i can't delete the welcome.exe becouse it is read only. How can i do?
ок man. I will try to help you. there are two ways: simple (the 1st and crazy - the 2nd). So..
1st:
simply delete this shortcut (file) Welcome.lnk from this folder on HTC: \Windows\StartUp
note: after the 1st successful startup system will delete it independently, so you just skiping this step
2nd:
if You like to overcome difficulties like Armenian Komsomol member this way is for You!
Install on the personal computer the program pocket controller (like so is called), then connect PC to HTC for let pocket controller donloads cab file to HTC and then reboot HTC. The personal computer hooks control and already from the personal computer you can pass wellcome.ехе procedure and delete it using total commander if it present in your ROM.

Thanks for trying to help me but i'm stuck at the roms setup beggining align screen! Becouse of that i can't install soti pocket controller. and i can't find how to delete welcome file becouse it is read only still!

Yes i tried but i can't do it. Becouse the file is read only the device don't give me the permission for deleting it! Help help help! How can i delete it ?
what do you mean saying "can't install soti pocket controller" ?
I think for the Pocket Controller to work it needs to be installed on both, your PC and the device. Could be mistaken, it's been a while since I used it last.
I'd re-flash and see what happens.

i mean. i have to install it pc first and then xda. But i can't install it to pda becouse i'm stucked at align screen. i can't do anything! How can i install a program without skipping the align screen!? i have to find a program wich gives me chance to delete "welcome.ink" file from xda.
finnaly the situation is; i am at the begining of rom (align screen)

Try hard reset. If no joy - bootloader + reflash.
create blank file called "WELCOME.NOT" (without the quotes, for example you can use notepad) and copy it into the root of your SD card (card reader required),and soft reset. This way the welcome screen will be bypassed , but you have to allign the screen to make it usable from start=>settings=>system=>screen
If all fails, could it be the hardware problem, rather than soft?

it's probably because you're using vista, although the screen that comes up and says to close other programs before flashing probably means INCLUDING Windows Media Player and whatever that MACOS-dock type taskbar addon is
Especially media player because it can try to make a connection with your phone as a 'removable storage' device
once you get that coloured screen up on your phone , it means your device is in bootloader mode
you can try to run the update again once the phone is already in that state and it might fix it.
if not, as i said, search the forum ... you might need to change your device drivers
it also looks like you havent USPL'd your phone yet so this ROM might not flash correctly.

this might also be a good time to point out theat there is also a v44 version of that rom on here, rather than the v43 you're trying to use

good idea for the phone screen but we can't read the numbers so you can just give them. i think SPL 3.13.0000 so you haven't Unlock your device.

2- if it's good, your numbers on bootloader (screen 3 colors) have changed normally in 1.11.xxx
3- you can now flash your device with your wm6.5 rom.
And yes use search for help you if always problem.

have you tried putting the phone into bootloader mode first and THEN flashing?
also search the forum for' error 260 vista drivers' ... you might need to rollback the USB driver to an earlier version but try everything else first.
USPL should be done first before rom flash

sorry, I don't think i understand your question
to put your phone into bootloader mode, hold the RECORD/NOTES button and press the stylus into the reset hole at the same time.
Then you get the coloured stripes screen like your screenshot (that is bootloader mode)
First you need to USPL your phone. This makes SPL version 1.11.0000
Don't upgrade the rom until you can see :
SPL 1.11.0000
when you reset

Try to run the "start_uspl" from Artemis_USPL but i think you must:
1 instal the program for synchron with vista,
2 connect your device but not in bootloader, you must see the today screen on your device.
3 only when synchron is finished you can run the "start_uspl" for unlock your device.
4 if there is no error and when the process is finished, normally he ask for restart device, and look if the numbers 3.13 is change in 1.11
Edit if there is an error (white screen, etc) try to run the "start_uspl" again and again. It will finish by working, i had to try many times before it really working.
but when the prozess finished "dos window 100%" my phone display is white an the connection to the PC is deactive
