Can the XDA IIs owners confirm if BT works reliably on their device than on the pda2k hardware, or is the problems equally the same on both hardware????
I have tried BT stack 3500 and the 3900 with the stock 1.40 pda2k rom, doesnt make much different.
Also is there any way to find out which version of audiogw.dll my device uses?
thanks.
the only difference with the 3900stack is that when u tap and hold down on a file u dont tap beam file, u click send by bluetooth, i had xda2 and when i got xda2s it didnt work the same. i came here and fixed it . i even sent to o2 to be repaired and they couldnt fix that.

I am talking about differences between the actual hardware of a XDA IIs and the Imate pda2k devices. I heard from someone that the bluetooth in cdma version of pda2k worked much reliably than the gsm versions. I believe this was also known as the Audiovox 6600 as the following url shows:
http://www.telusmobility.com/on/pcs/handset_audiovox_ppc6600.shtml
could the BT stack in this version of pda2k much better than the gsm versions? Would it be possible to somehow copy and reinstall the BT stack on a gms pda2k and expect the BT to operate much better than what we are experiencing???
any ideas/suggestions.....

Hi
I have used an XDA 1 up until recently and loved it. I used a wired GPS with tomtom3 and it worked well.
I asked O2 which one I should buy. XDA IIs or IIi based on the fact I wanted Wi_Fi and to use wireless GPS with tomtom3. The support guy said 'go for IIi as it's the latest and best, supporting bluetooth for tomtom'.
I ordered the IIi and a 1 year contract from O2. It arrived and I unpacked it and low and behold, it would not install with tomtom3. 'Unkown System Architecture' was the error. I spoke with TomTom and they said IIi is not supported, only the II and IIs..... Great :?
I now either wait to see if TomTom3 add IIi to their compatible list OR i revert to the IIs. This is my question... Should I wait, or go for the IIs?
I must say for the record though.... I am impressed with the IIi and Wi-Fi but general build quality is dissapointing. The software is buggy and the camera is utterly useless and quite simply not worth using on the camera. It gives black images which are just useless. The build of the actual phone is tinny and the battery duration is terrible. Compared to my XDA, the phone runs out rapidly.
Bit of a nightmare now as I dont know whether I am better off waiting for IIi to be supported or exchange for the IIs.
??????? DOH!
anybody tried both?
I'd send it back to O2 under the 14 Day Money Back and get yourself an XDA IIs, I run BT TomTom 3 on my XDA IIs works a treat even without the Broadcom Patch.
Although to use a BT Headset I needed the Patch.
Good Luck
Bluetooth
Thanks nixonm
I'm certainly considering it... I have 7 days left to decide... Just seems a shame to not have the latest one, although I actually prefer the look of the black IIs.
I have heard the bluetooth is slightly intermittent on the IIs, although the specs look the same on my-xda.com.
I assume you dont find this to recommend the IIs. Are you running this with the tomtom bluetooth GPS receiver?
I am using a Fortuna ClipOn Bluetooth GPS, had no problems connecting it to the XDA IIs.
Had loads of problems with my Motorola HS810 bluetooth headset, until I installed the Bluetooth patch from the FTP site.
The lastest ROM release just released by O2 fixes this also.
I looked at the O2 XDA IIi too, but it's slightly wider & taller, no keyboard and silver, plus the TomTom issues.
im running tomtom navigator 3 fine on my xda2i with a bt gps - i've not seen that problem you are having.
fyi my rom versions...
rom version 1.10.00 WWE
dated 12/24/04
radio 1.00.00
protocol : 1337.39
ext rom version 1.10.124 WWE

Very interesting! I have been speaking with TomTom themselves and they said it wasn't on their compatability list. I tried installing TomTom3 and it warned of Unknown Architecture. I even tried the 3.07 upgrade installer which tomtom provided and they wouldnt work. My ROM versions are identical to yours.
I am happy with what you have said though as it gives me some hope to get it running on the IIi. I will try re-installing once again on the IIi.
Thanks
if it helps, I havent tried anything newer than ttn3 version 3.02 - was going to try the 3.07 update later today. I'll get a pic of it running on my 2i up somewhere when i get a chance so you know im not making it up !!
good luck !
malty
hope im ok uploading pics.... please delete if not. Excuse the mucky greenhouse .. its not mine
Cheers for that maltloaf
I didn't disbelieve you anyway, but those images will help me when dealing with TomTom as you clearly have it running. I did think it was odd how the IIs used the same OS as IIi, but mine just doesn't like the install.
I am going to try a hard reset to factory conditions and then re-install.
Cheers for your info.
I also have TT3 3.02 on my XDA2i, in one car i use a cradel with a wired GPS and in my car i use a leadtek Bluetooth all with no problems, but i did try the 3.07 and it stoped working, ( ithink i know why that is tho )
John
I also have the TomTom V3 with bluetooth working on my XDA IIi works great, better that running it on XDA IIs.
My advice would be to stick to the XDA IIi.
>>>>DANGER<<<<
Allways stay away from the XDA IIs!!!
It is hazardous to your wallet!
>>>>DANGER<<<<
Wheaaah! Success!
FINALLY..... It works!
I re-installed from another disc using 3.03 and once again it warned me stating that this version of windows was un-supported and might not display properly :? However, I ingnored it and installed the UK maps and then the 3.07 upgrade. It worked!
BONUS>>> I now have it operational with Bluetooth so I am pleased.
Thanks for your help and comments.
Regards
Justin
yes folks
but is this true , at least this is what my agent told me lately, that JAM and Qtek can't recieve bluetooth from any I-Mate PDA2K
waiting for your comments 8)
Hmmmm sounds strange. Cant really see why not!!
Did your agent give you an offer on new devices instead of the PDA2K ???
nob,
no new offer, i just have to live with it
I really want to know , if this is known issue, otherwise , i think it is a good idea to conctat the mother company of i-mate and raise the issue
and by the way, where can i find their site,
bye for now
http://www.htc.com.tw
But contacting them wont do you much good i think.
Contact your supplyer with support/complaints
hmmm
well, your BT radio is 3900 , while mine is 3500, where did you get 3900 , is it a patch
The .3900 is on the FTP server, blueangel/Cab_files/blue..../BroadcomCorp_BT1.0.0.3900.cab
have you tested BT connections between these devices??
can you give me a direct link to the file
yes I tested the devices and my device can't send to JAM or Qtek 2020 but they can send to me
thanks

Hi all!
Every body actually knows about the trinity gpsone activate.
Now, the guys here succeeded to port the driver & put it in a cab!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294113
I understood that the radio should support it, is there any chance to do that?
+++++
one more thing
+++++
We have 2 external output for antenna in the side of the universal device. maybe it should fit & connect anyhow to the gpsone chip?
Any ideas?
Gil
Only the new Qualcom chipset supports GPS; Trinity, Hermes and Breeze have this chipset. Unfortunately Universal's chipset does not have any GPS ability (at least this would be a big surprise to me). Too bad, the Universal is still my favourite PPC.

Universal's radio has MGP6200 chip. This is so-called "assisted-GPS". But we need to patch radio to turn it on. And I don;t think that it would be well-working.

Thanks for enlightening me! That's really interesting... What is the exact state of knowledge? After a quick look at the "Internal TyTn Herm 200 Pictures Inc. Chip Sets"-thread in the Hermes forum I saw cr2 stated that the Universal lacks the GPS RF amplifier, but also - to quote him - "AFAIK, the radio on the HTC Universal includes the GPS-related code". That was at the beginning of the whole Hermes-GPS-research, so with the state of knowledge of today, are there any new conclusions regarding Universal?
I would like to know whether the parts of my i-mate pda2k are the same with O2 XDAIII parts.. I want to replace the casing of my imate pda2k as well as the keyboard.. I am just planning to buy defective O2 XDA III to replace some parts on my imatepda2k.
Do all the screws, fittings, external and internal parts of imate pda2k same with O2 XDA III?
and the O2 XDAIII the same with O2 XDAIIs? they do look the same..

You should look in the wiki, you will see all the possible name variations for the BA. If I am not mistaken, the only thing that may change between models is having a camera (or not like the SX66). The only BA-type device that will have a difference is the Harrier (CDMA version of the BA) which has a few more important differences.
i believe there are actually more differences in the hardware specs, like two different displays or something and i do remember there was a table on the wiki and i know, whenever i look for it, i spend ages searching, i wanted to provide the link here, but actually, i cannot find it right now... again.

True, but if he is only looking at the casing, he should not be concerned with anything "under the hood". As long as the case is the same, he will satisfy his needs.
actually i am planning for to get the casing of a defective O2 xdaIIs, which similarly looks the same with the imate pda2k.. will i succeed with this one?

I pray that somebody else magically comes up with a better answer here, but I have been looking high and low for the same thing, ever since I got the TP2 last Nov, and I haven't found any way to get a different BT stack on here
