Damm, PDA2K can't send to JAM and Qtek - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

yes folks
but is this true , at least this is what my agent told me lately, that JAM and Qtek can't recieve bluetooth from any I-Mate PDA2K
waiting for your comments 8)

Hmmmm sounds strange. Cant really see why not!!
Did your agent give you an offer on new devices instead of the PDA2K ???

nob,
no new offer, i just have to live with it
I really want to know , if this is known issue, otherwise , i think it is a good idea to conctat the mother company of i-mate and raise the issue
and by the way, where can i find their site,
bye for now

http://www.htc.com.tw
But contacting them wont do you much good i think.
Contact your supplyer with support/complaints

hmmm
well, your BT radio is 3900 , while mine is 3500, where did you get 3900 , is it a patch

The .3900 is on the FTP server, blueangel/Cab_files/blue..../BroadcomCorp_BT1.0.0.3900.cab

have you tested BT connections between these devices??

can you give me a direct link to the file
yes I tested the devices and my device can't send to JAM or Qtek 2020 but they can send to me
thanks

O2 in "possibly got it right with IIs" shock

So the IIs's (what IS the plural of IIs??) arrived today so serious playi.... er ... product familiarisation has begun.
First off, the colour of the O2 version is very nice (I think the II is looking old fashioned already). The case is ok (I'm not a case fan, I prefer to just lug it around in my pocket).
The keyboard is probably far too fiddly to ever get used by my normal sized pinkies but the blue backlight means that it will look good next to my PS2 even without BT turned on!!!!
The software seems to be up to scratch too, they've even added a decent battery life monitor to the Active and Today screens (The Active screen actually seems fairly usefull this time round!). Not had much of a play with the additional software, apart from those that came with the latest Xda II ROM upgrade ("phone Alison" ....... why is it dialing Colin??), but the GPRS monitor is a welcome addition.
Now onto what, for me, is the most essential part - WiFi and Bluetooth. Let's not beat around the bush, the II was rubbish for both, only really with the latest ROM was the II capable of anything like decent performance with BT Headsets and still didn't support Handsfree. As for WiFi, I used a Sandisk SD card with my II and it was a pain to connect.
Whilst waiting for the release of the IIs we've been playing with iPaq 4150's which have great BT & WiFi tools that even our execs could use!
*WiFi*
Turned the phone on at home and it immediatly sniffed my network (Linksys router) and asking to connect prompted me for my encryption key followed by faultless connection to the internet. Exxxxcelent
*Bluetooth*
My boss had a Nokia CK-7W carkit fitted a few weeks ago, oh how we laughed when the latest II ROM still rendered the II useless in his car!!!! So it was with slight trepidation that we turned the ignition on only for the IIs to find/bond and work perfectly with the kit at first time of asking.
So all in all I'd say that O2 must have actually been listening to us after all (despite not updating the website FAQ's properly since the original Xda). We have a few very good contacts within O2 and had seen a fair amount of info prior to release and received assurances on the above functionality, but I have to say that I didn't believe it till I saw it all with my own eyes!!
Now for some serious testing to see if it's beauty goes further than skin deep

 similar experience when my friend was trying out the Fonix voice stuff on his XDA II. We were in stitches at his attempts to phone my mobile (with "Phone Dave Mobile") and it either not understanding or coming up with a suggestion which was hard to see why it thought it sounded like it. It even suggested a number for my friend's expletive of "Oh f**k this"
lol, fonix is hours of fun for all the family ........... cos it could ring any one of them when you're trying to phone your boss!
The next big test for the IIs will be the built in BT phone kit in the 5 series BMW, hopefully one of our directors will be around today to give it a go.
does the bluetooth in new XDA IIs support audio through your headset?
it would be great if it did, but i doubt it
WiFi / gprs bridging
Can the gprs internet connection be shared out through the WiFi? I'd like my notebook to see it as an access point and use it's network access. Never got this to work with xdaII bluetooth and my powerbook, Apple's BT stack doesn't recognize the widcomm bt "server".
I'll buy one tomorrow if it can bridge the 802.11 and the gprs!
Audio through your headset? not sure what you're wanting it to do here but I'll list the options on the BT new connection Wizard
Hands-free/Headset Setup
ActiveSync
Browse Files on a remote device
Connect to a network
Join a personal network
Exchange Business Cards
Explore a Bluetooth device
As for sharing the GPRS connection via WiFi, it may be possible if you set the connection on the Xda to NOT connect to the internet, otherwise the WiFi settings seem to overide GPRS. Sorry not much help! Couldn't you link them up with BT instead?
GOOD NEWS though
Successfully paired up the IIs with a BMW X5's built in BT phone stuff so it's another tick in the box for O2
Can you hear your MP3's or tomtom voice through your bluetooth headset?
no

Hi there
great report
just a quick question..........I have been ringing o2 daily to enquire about the arrival and keep getting told that it is 'next week'........where did you get your unit from ?? I tried o2 Salisbury on Thursday and they told me that they hadn't received a release date yet !!
cheers!
The phone is out at o2 now, has been since late Thursday evening. It will not be in the stores until Wed/Thu next week.
just call up and order it. I did
Could somebody with the XDAIIs please post the extended Rom files.

I would also need them... please
I ordered ours through our dedicated o2 business team at the beginning of the week, as our commodity manager sent us the product code when the launch got delayed (internal pakaging problems!). The advantages of working for a big company with a corporate o2 deal!
Price wise we don't do so well on hardware, prob cos we pay next to nothing for line rental, I think they were 350 gbp each (ever noticed how u don't pay as much attention when it's not your money?), all "in contract upgrades". I'll double check when I get to work.
Anyhoo, a big box arrived on Thurs and opening it revealed 11 cool gadgets! Still waiting for the accessories to be released though.
I'll check for the cab file later.

How to do it?
Unlock extRom using the unlock tool attached.
reset device
Browse to the extended rom from your desktop computer and copy the files - zip them up and post them here.
is extended rom unlocker the same for Himalaya and Blue Angel?
It unhides both, but it doesn't unlock the Blue Angel. But you can copy the files out of the extROM once you can see them.

We are trying to get I-Mate to pay attention to our support needs. Here is my conversation with support this evening:
Brian> Welcome to club i-mate support. My name is Brian, how can I help you today?
Brian> Hi Moriah...
Moriah> I was wondering wehn we would get the bluetooth patch that was promised
Brian> The specific release date is not yet decided but as soon as it is, will be available on our www.clubimate.com website.
Moriah> My headset won't stay connected if the device shuts off. Bluetooth is pretty useless then.
Brian> Please keep a regular check on our www.clubimate.com website for further news and updates on our devices and services.
Moriah> Your reply is a joke.
Moriah> That is what everyone is hearing.
Moriah> Tell my why I should spend $900 on something that does not work as the specs say?
Moriah> How do I return the device for a refund?
Brian> As for the Bluetooth patch, only the first part of it is launched, The second part of the patch is due shortly. The Upgrade and the patch are being tested so as to provide full satisfaction for our users and eliminate the issues prevalent.
Moriah> I have had the device for 2 months now and have heard that already.
Moriah> Can I return it for a refund. It costs to much to not work right.
Moriah> My boyfriend has been trying to return his but the vendor is not replying.
Moriah> Please tell me how to get a refund.
Brian> well you can check with the vendor, from where you bought?
Moriah> Except they are the ones not refunding the money. Overseas Electronics in IL.
Moriah> We had to file a dispute with American Express to try and get a refund.
Moriah> Doesn't IMate warranty their devices?
Brian> we do give warranty on our devices, only if there is any hardware issue or software
Moriah> Well there is obviously an issue if the device does not work with a bluetooth headset as it should right?
Moriah> So does that mean I can get a warranty replacement through you then since mine is defective?
Brian> As of now, our engineers are testing the patches and the upgrades to be released so as to provide a total solution once and for all.
Moriah> So how long am I suppose to go with a device that does not work as stated in the specs before I can get a warranty replacement?
Brian> i would suggest you to wait for few more days...
Moriah> A few more days huh.
Moriah> that is not very specific.
Brian> Yes we can understand....
Moriah> So I will contact support again in 3 days (as what I understand a "few" to mean) and get a warranty then
Moriah> Thanks for the cut and paste answers.
Moriah> You will hear from me soon.
Moriah> Bye.
...I have recieved the same "Cut and paste" type answeres as well....
..guess we can all just keep holding our breath until we are all "blue[tooth]" in the face....
Thanks for nothin, iMATE
I ALSO have noticed...
...when I first load the ClubImate webpage, it will show Tech Support: ONLINE at the top right as usual....
..but once I log in with my username and password, It always switches to OFFLINE.... EVERY TIME!!!
...I believe iMATE has BARRED me from their tech support.....
...GREAT customer service! I have both AT&T and T-Mobile accounts, and was looking at the MDA-Compact/Magician for my second phone- but I think Ill go with another Brand for my other phone if my experience with iMate stays as it is much longer........
Hi
I suspect that the multitude of bugs that the Blue Angel devices suffer from are all the fault of HTC. Individial manufacturers do very little to the core software of the device before shipping. They add their logo's add their own sh1te,buggy software (O2 Active!) and then ship em out in a box with a sleeve & manual that makes the device look like their own.
The delays that Imate are suffering from are HTC's fault, the patch they talk of will come from HTC to Imate and from Imate to you.
The XDAIIs, MDAIII, QTEK9090, blah, blah all have the same issues.
I for one will not buy another device thats made by HTC.

I agree completely. Question is, do we as consumers/customers have any way of putting pressure on HTC to fix their problems? If so, then everyone who has a Blue Angel should be putting pressure on them, as well as the company from which it was purchased.
If not, then the only way to get anywhere is to force the 3rd parties like iMate, O2, T-Mobile, Orange, etc. to make HTC fix their problems.
Dear Members,
If you own a PDA2k device and suffer from Bluetooth shortcomings then please check out the following thread at Club i-mate:
http://www.clubimate.com/forums/tm.asp?m=6698
Perhaps the pressure on Carrier Devices would compel it to work harder on the update and to improve its communication with its clients.
Thank you...

T-Mobile MDA III

I see all these posts of o2, Qtek etc updates to radio rom etc etc but never any mention of T-Mobile updates even ringing them to find out where updates are or maybe comes back with a blank.
Do any of you know where these are or maybe if any are ever developed
Many thanks
T-Mobile is trouble.. I also have the T-mobile MDA III and have flashed it with the normal qtek ROM. It's just taking to long. They say there will be an update (t-mobile germany has released one) But the rest not.
I think it will take at least a month if not more for an update.

To be honest with you, T-Mobile are probably just sitting waiting for a stable rom to come out.
Despite the numerous releases by Q-tek, Imate et al, it would appear that you still have to run an abundance of patches on top of the rom to get to a semi-decent state.
O2 have only released one patch thus far, a bluetooth one which seems to solve some issues, but not all.
Problem is the numerous different suppliers. If it was one product and wasnt rebadged or branded or anything, then we could probably set up a pressure group to get something done about it.
I take it T-Mobile UK arent helping? If not, then email them weekly for updates, thats what I intend on doing with O2.

You say you backed up before applying the German ROM, does that mean you have a backup of the UK T-Mobile MDA III ROM? If so I would be greatly in your debt if you could provide a copy!

Yes I have a backup on my PC, basically I used the Backup ROM to SD Card method detialed here http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=151&PN=1
Which means when you copy it back to your pc using http://www.tamiminet.com/othman/ntrw.exe its the size of your memory card which in my case is 1Gb I could write this to DVD and post it to you.
Or if anyone knows how I can convert this to the .nb1 or what ever I'd be happy to do that and upload it.
Fantastic!
If you don't mind, could you compress the file with WinRAR or similar to see how big is it? if it's a reasonable size < 200mb I would be more than happy to provide a download site or perhaps it could be put onto the FTP for this forum? (although I'm not sure how that would be done)
Cheers, JDH

I'll have a go tonight but its unlikely to compress that far, I'd do it now but I cant get to the drive its on at home from work where I am now.
So we still wait on an appropriate Tmobile UK MDAIII ROM
In spite of the now famous BA_WWE_BelDT_12200_557_10602_SHIP.exe ROM file using the BaUpgradeUt.exe bat file upgrader software in conjunction with the GetDeviceData.exe modification software to input the proper switches for T-mobile UK MDAIII devices, we are better off waiting for more stable hacks or even official releases in order to solve the BT and other problems? And I just now was getting to a point where I thought the fixes were at hand. Oh well, any advice garnered through experience would prove valuable as gold here. Cheers, guys...
Willfarr,
I have applied most of the ROM updates as they have appeared on the forum and happily they seem to have helped; particularly with the low level mic issue.
The only reason I'm after the original ROM is that reading elsewhere on the board it seems that only the earlier batches of MDA IIIs (such as mine) have the yellow hue screen issue. As such, I got in touch with T-mobile and they have agreed to replace it under warranty, I just don't want to send it back with a hacked ROM in case they notice and refuse to replace it!
If you're having any software issues such as the mic problem it's probably worth trying the updates, just make a backup first!

Just uploading the zipped file now
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/MDAIII/XDAIIs.zip
You also know you'll need a 1Gb SD Card don't you and this program I have also uploaded
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/MDAIII/ntrw.exe
And to write the uncompressed zip file back to the card you do the following:
Type ntrw write XDAIIs.nb1 E: (using a dos windows where "E:" is your drive letter for the SD Card

Bluetooth headaches

Can the XDA IIs owners confirm if BT works reliably on their device than on the pda2k hardware, or is the problems equally the same on both hardware????
I have tried BT stack 3500 and the 3900 with the stock 1.40 pda2k rom, doesnt make much different.
Also is there any way to find out which version of audiogw.dll my device uses?
thanks.
the only difference with the 3900stack is that when u tap and hold down on a file u dont tap beam file, u click send by bluetooth, i had xda2 and when i got xda2s it didnt work the same. i came here and fixed it . i even sent to o2 to be repaired and they couldnt fix that.

I am talking about differences between the actual hardware of a XDA IIs and the Imate pda2k devices. I heard from someone that the bluetooth in cdma version of pda2k worked much reliably than the gsm versions. I believe this was also known as the Audiovox 6600 as the following url shows:
http://www.telusmobility.com/on/pcs/handset_audiovox_ppc6600.shtml
could the BT stack in this version of pda2k much better than the gsm versions? Would it be possible to somehow copy and reinstall the BT stack on a gms pda2k and expect the BT to operate much better than what we are experiencing???
any ideas/suggestions.....

Bluetooth is one! Terrible BT hardware. Half a meter away and the cracks make the headset unusable. 22003SE and BT patches / WM5 just equally crappy
Just waiting for the Atom/Athena
In the meantime, my 2020 with 2003SE / automated Sin Merge is the best combo I tried. Thinking about moving to WM5 but the issues I had on my BA with ActiveSync/Outlook/Exchange server are making me think twice...
BTW, any news on FCS for Athena?
Hal
It's about effing time!! The Blueangel was not ready for sale. Not everyone knows how to hack a ROM and most business users need it to work out of the box which it defo didn't.
I know the problem: 02 didn't release the 1.40 ROM.
AND as I mentioned in another thread I have just broken my handsfree socket by mistake. I could fix it but I don't wanna take it apart and ruin the warranty.
I also don't wanna pay to have it fixed as I don't have ANY money. The down key is getting dodgy as well. I think I will go for a new one on insurance. Do you think they will gimme an Exec no that the 2s has been discontinued?
I only got the 2s as an insurance job for the XDA2 about 5 months ago. Do you think that they will be funny about it in the shop or will they not bother?
the s.... is crap
