Wireless Modem via Bluetooth on a Blue Angel - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hello all, my big question:
Has anyone successfully used the Wireless Modem application via BT to connect a laptop/desktop to the internet via GPRS?
Some more specific data about my problem:
This is what I am trying to do (unsuccesfully for now): Connect my bluetooth enabled laptop to my PDA2k (with Bluetooth and GPRS). I have tried both the Socket Bluetooth CF card (Bluesoleil Bluetooth stack) and a USB BT stick (generic Windows XP SP2 BT stack). Can't get it to work.
The error I get is Error 734: " The PPP Protocol Control Link was terminated".
This error occurs after the connection has gone OK through all the steps (dialing, checking username and password, etc), right after "registering your computer on the network", and then it drops. So it seems the connection goes through (all devices are "speaking" to each other OK), but the connection is dropped because of a screwed up setting or something else in the configuration.
On the other hand, the laptop to PDA2k connection via a USB cable works perfectly and I can get online. It is just BT that is not working.
Thanks,
Fernando

Follow up
Hello all:
I just performed four "experiments" to figure out what's going on with this:
(a) USB stick (Windows XP SP2 BT stack) paired with a PDA2k (most recent stack downloaded from club imate).
(b) Socket CF card (Bluesoleil BT stack) paired with a PDA2k (most recent stack downloaded from club imate).
(c) USB stick (Windows XP SP2 BT stack) paired with a HP iPaq 6315 (Widcomm BT stack).
(d) Socket CF card (Bluesoleil BT stack) paired with a HP iPaq 6315 (Widcomm BT stack).
Experiments (a) and (b) failed, while (c) and (d) worked flawlessly.
If the scientific method works, there is most definitely something defective with the BT stack in the PDA2k.
I wonder if the solution is to load another BT stack. Any ideas?
Thanks all,
Fernando

Using PAN and Internet Sharing

Maybe I am missing something here. I used to use the DUN with my 8525 and never had a problem with my laptop. I flashed today with XDA .20 and can not figure out how to work the new PAN. I tried everything and just can not get it to work. Am I missing something?
Use the internet sharing app. If you are tethering via USB make sure to disable bluetooth or your device won't get a DHCP lease from the PAN driver.
I have a problem connect Via bluetooth using Internet Sharing with all version of WM6. When pair with the PC, the PC can only transfer file with my 8525 only. But when using Cingular 3.3 aku my PC can find Serial port profile and connect to Internet Sharing.
Does anyone know a registry fix for this?, I am using a Sony laptop with build in toshiba bluetooth stack. When went back to 3.3 aku internet sharing Via bluetooth work again.
Thanks

I have vista and winxp with toshiba stack on the same laptop (dual boot), both doesn't work with all version of WM6 available here, but it work with 3.3 aku cingular rom.
Where can I find MS stack? when I unintalled toshiba stack, all the driver for the bluetooth is gone.
Edit: Thanks for the tips, I finally get it to work VIA bluetooth, the problem is the toshiba bluetooth stack. I uninstalled the toshiba stack, and do and manually driver installed and choose Toshiba as the manufacture, and intergrate bluetooth, Vista find a driver for it and activate the MS stack.
The issue with the Toshiba stack is this:
The auto discovery is the only way to set up services. However, the PAN service doesn't display unless the devices are paired. Toshiba can only Pair with devices seen during discovery....
Its a damn catch-22....

screw the toshiba stack! just dont install that junk, Vista will automally install Microsoft bluetooth stack!
Can someone please detail the steps on how to get Internet Sharing via bluetooth for either XP or vista?
TIA!
Interestingly, there's a help topic in WM6 that explains this! Tap Start->help and then choose "search"
Now search for "Internet sharing". How to set up the m$ bt stack on your desktop is explained there.
M$ stack
I just have the same prob. on my laptop with XP SP2 and toshiba BT stack...
how can i fix the drivers for M$ BT stack without install VISTA ???
THX in advance

Since upgrading to WM6 Black, I can't seem to get the Wireless Modem (internet sharing) to work. I am using a USB cable but when I start the DUN on the PC, it says there is no modem installed.
found the answer elsewhere - if you are using USB turn off BT on the device!
obvious really (?)
replacing Toshiba BT stack with Microsoft
Hey, I cant vouch for this since i dont have a toshiba but thought i might pass this on. hope it helps.

Hey bud, Microsoft ditched DUN in WM6. If you have the drivers installed properly (included with Activesync 4.5) you should see a new LAN connection in your Network Connections. In Windows XP it should be described as "Windows Mobile-based Internet Sharing Device" If you don't have the driver installed you will see Generic RNDIS in your Device Manager. From what i understand if you have Vista installed on your computer these drivers come stock (on the Final full version of Vista, not included by default on RC1, not sure about RC2)
hope this helps...
PAN with toshiba stack
I downloaded an updated bluetooth stack from
http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/pages/download.php
and it worked fine.
Pair hermes with computer. First turn on internetsharing then connect using pan profile.

i tried the v 5.10.06 too on my asus but still can't connect to my tytn WM6 LVSW first release .... maybe the different WM6 is the key of this problem...
wich options u use in the toshiba stack ( security level and so on ) ?
i tried high security level that force pairing with device ( and obviously pan enabled) but still get the message " only file tranfer service on the device ..."
i'm interested to get it to work too also if it's working now with m$ stack .
There may be some other users interested too...

Bluetooth pairing issue

Hi all,
i am runing my trinity with WM6 and AX3l's rom. my issue is that i cant connect to my car stereo which is a pioneer DEH-P55. My trinity see's the stereo and gives the option for hands free but the stereo cant detect the trinity. my device is visible to others but the stereo wont pick it up. Any suggestions for a fix on this would be appreciated.
thanks

maybe you have to push a button on your radio to activate first time pairing, that was the solution for my bluetooth headset.
(pairing from both sides)
just a suggestion, maybe it helps.
Try the Jetware bluetooth extension it has a 30 day trial and worked for my Alpine headunit its at http://www.jetwaremobile.com/
Thanks for the replies, but still no luck. I can pair other phones to the stereo but not this. Are there any settings that i may need to activate on the device that i am missing? its abit infuriating as i need to get this up and running as soon as.

activated "receive all incoming beams" ? its in settings/connections/beam
its already activated stormyb but thanks again for helping.
I always had problems using bt and irda...
I never succeed send/receive any file using my pc (my pc irda always worked fine with others devices). Beam enabled on commManager and on settings "receive all incoming beams".
When I try to connect (pair) using (htc) BT I get this error: the connection failed or the passcode is incorrect...
---
One time I tried to send a file to a nokia phone and I needed 30 min to succeed: restart phone, restart BT, restart beam, restart phone, restart nokia, restart BT, restart, restart, ....
Now I'm using the radio 1.46.00.11, rom eLiAs2.11wwe (before I was radio 1.38 and udk rom) and when I pair from htc, on pc I don't receive the pin request. If I pair from pc, I see the request for pin no htc but when I type it: "the connection failed or the passcode is incorrect".
Only one time I was succeed pair (and saved on device list), I typed 3 times the pin code, but after I can't transfer files...
From pc, I see the htc on the device list, if I try the ftp service, htc ask me: "xxx wants to connect with your device using bluetooth. Do you want to add XXX to your device list?" I answer yes but when I insert the pin, the pc give to me this error: "error establishing the connection"
If i try the voice gateway, after type the pin on htc I get this error on pc:
"the remote device closed the connection"
Using this last rom, when I try beam a file, I can't see my pc irda (using the udk rom I can to see but without success), I only see my pc BT but always "failed" the connection.
Nobody has the same problem?!
What bluetooth comms are you using, windows or Widcomm's?
I installed widcomm onto my laptop as I was suffering the same problems as you mention and I couild not get a bluetooth serial port setup either, once installed and restarted the pc then I just powered up both BT's and set the phone to visable and the laptop found it straight away with all the services and could setup the serial port.
I seem to recall there are numerous problems with most BT's when using the default windows drivers etc..
HTH's
hi, I'm using widcomm...
I didn't test again a bt headphone, but I have problems trying to connect to a nokia phone for example (n95, n73).
The irda never works... I tried too with a nokia phone and a remote control software for wm6... nothing...
All ok using headset BT...
I installed blueSoleil BT driver and now it is ok.
same ppc, same rom, same problem with my bt bury in the car and with other ppl's triyng to bt connect to my ppc. i can "see" them they can "see" me but there is no transmission TO me. I can send.
i am using the bt phone (bury) but onlt when I initiate the connection. i think it's a rom bug.

Bluetooth ActiveSync Schaps 4.31 WWE Problem

Hello,
for hours I have been trying to get ActiveSync to work with my Hermes (XDA Trion). Interestingly, everything worked fine with Schaps older ROM 3.54.
Actually, the problem can be split into two seperate problems:
1. When I try to pair my Hermes with my Notebook (MSI dongle with Bluesoleil 2.3) and I search for new devices, it discovers it. After I enter a passkey on the PPC a window pops open on the notebook. I punch in the same exact number as before but my PPC just stalls with the "hour clock" running. Sometimes I get a time out error after waiting about 5 minutes. If I don't enter a passkey I can pair the devices with no problem.
2. Once I have paired both devices (with no passkey) I can manage to refresh the offered services to ActiveSync. Nevertheless, I still get an error message that there is no existing Bluetooth partnership with a PC with ActiveSync support. Thus, I'm still not able to sync via bluetooth
If you have a solution, let me know!
Thanks!
sojakim
same HW no issues
I happen to have both the Hermes with Schap's 4.31 WWE Lite AND the MSI Bluesoleil BT 2.0 dongle as well, and bluetooth Activestink is no issue on my end. Works perfectly.
using 4.31 lite as well.. no issues with rgd to bluetooth connections with my HP tablet TC1100 (XP Pro Tablet Edition 2005)..

sap bluetooth with VW passat

Hi there!
My friend has an Artemis and a VW Passat with a bluetooth radio (VW).
The radio requires sap, which was not supported with the old windows version that was installed on the phone.
We updated it with the newest T-mobile version (it is a t-mobile device) and now he has the sap-settings.
Unfortunately we still have some problems.
The car now finds the phone, the phone connects and both are connected.
Just to disconnect one second later.
We restared the device, we restarted the car, we changed the settings for the file-sharing.
We deleted the connection and connected again.
We still have the problem that the connection is lost one second after connecting.
Does anyone know the probelm and a solution??
Thanks in advance!
Cholera
noone having hte same problem?
I've got a Seat Leon (effectively same company) & i have had no problems connecting to the bluetooth within my car. I do however, have Meschles latest Rom installed & its based on Windows Mobile 6.1 professional - not sure what your T Mobile device is based on ?
I have had this trouble too. I can connect to the car OK but if I disconnect the phone will not restart, then if I try to connect to the passat again it connects and disconnects. Seems to be 6.1 is my problem. When I roll back to origanal HTC WM6 all is OK again. Maybe it is the new SAP becuae the HTC SAP icon is not the same (oldversion?)
I have a passat too. I've tried it with meschles and with mossis rom. There were
no problems with the bluetooth device.
My passat only can connect with bluetooth over the handy holder from nokia which has to plug in the UHV.
No SAP is possible.
So what system is in your passat?
My Passat is 2008 with premium bluetooth factory fitted (with the pop out keypad). I have to talk with my main dealer because they can change the module for a HFP instead of SAP?

Barcode Scanner Bluetooth to HTC HD2

Hey everybody
I searched forever and didn't find anything. My problem is a Cognex DataMan 7550 (barcode scanner) which establishes a Bluetooth connection to its base station. I want to bypass that and just get it connected to my htc hd2. I talked to the guys from Cognex tech support and they gave me a step by step installation for Windows xp (using a Dell notebook with Bluetooth) and it works there to pair it. However, if I try it on the htc, I can't connect because I have to put in a key to pair (on Windows I don't). Has anyone an idea how to establish a bluetooth connection on the hd2 without a key?
Thanks a lot!
The Name of the Device on Bluetooth is Taiyo SPP which I guess refers to the manufacturer of the bluetooth antenna and the profile.
Finally gave up. Nobody seems to have an idea on how to connect a bt 2.0 device with no pin to a bt 2.1 device on wm 6.5.
