Using PAN and Internet Sharing - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development
Maybe I am missing something here. I used to use the DUN with my 8525 and never had a problem with my laptop. I flashed today with XDA .20 and can not figure out how to work the new PAN. I tried everything and just can not get it to work. Am I missing something?
Use the internet sharing app. If you are tethering via USB make sure to disable bluetooth or your device won't get a DHCP lease from the PAN driver.
I have a problem connect Via bluetooth using Internet Sharing with all version of WM6. When pair with the PC, the PC can only transfer file with my 8525 only. But when using Cingular 3.3 aku my PC can find Serial port profile and connect to Internet Sharing.
Does anyone know a registry fix for this?, I am using a Sony laptop with build in toshiba bluetooth stack. When went back to 3.3 aku internet sharing Via bluetooth work again.
Thanks

I have vista and winxp with toshiba stack on the same laptop (dual boot), both doesn't work with all version of WM6 available here, but it work with 3.3 aku cingular rom.
Where can I find MS stack? when I unintalled toshiba stack, all the driver for the bluetooth is gone.
Edit: Thanks for the tips, I finally get it to work VIA bluetooth, the problem is the toshiba bluetooth stack. I uninstalled the toshiba stack, and do and manually driver installed and choose Toshiba as the manufacture, and intergrate bluetooth, Vista find a driver for it and activate the MS stack.
The issue with the Toshiba stack is this:
The auto discovery is the only way to set up services. However, the PAN service doesn't display unless the devices are paired. Toshiba can only Pair with devices seen during discovery....
Its a damn catch-22....

screw the toshiba stack! just dont install that junk, Vista will automally install Microsoft bluetooth stack!
Can someone please detail the steps on how to get Internet Sharing via bluetooth for either XP or vista?
TIA!
Interestingly, there's a help topic in WM6 that explains this! Tap Start->help and then choose "search"
Now search for "Internet sharing". How to set up the m$ bt stack on your desktop is explained there.
M$ stack
I just have the same prob. on my laptop with XP SP2 and toshiba BT stack...
how can i fix the drivers for M$ BT stack without install VISTA ???

Since upgrading to WM6 Black, I can't seem to get the Wireless Modem (internet sharing) to work. I am using a USB cable but when I start the DUN on the PC, it says there is no modem installed.
found the answer elsewhere - if you are using USB turn off BT on the device!
obvious really (?)
replacing Toshiba BT stack with Microsoft
Hey, I cant vouch for this since i dont have a toshiba but thought i might pass this on. hope it helps.

Hey bud, Microsoft ditched DUN in WM6. If you have the drivers installed properly (included with Activesync 4.5) you should see a new LAN connection in your Network Connections. In Windows XP it should be described as "Windows Mobile-based Internet Sharing Device" If you don't have the driver installed you will see Generic RNDIS in your Device Manager. From what i understand if you have Vista installed on your computer these drivers come stock (on the Final full version of Vista, not included by default on RC1, not sure about RC2)
hope this helps...
PAN with toshiba stack
I downloaded an updated bluetooth stack from
http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/pages/download.php
and it worked fine.
Pair hermes with computer. First turn on internetsharing then connect using pan profile.

i tried the v 5.10.06 too on my asus but still can't connect to my tytn WM6 LVSW first release .... maybe the different WM6 is the key of this problem...
wich options u use in the toshiba stack ( security level and so on ) ?
i tried high security level that force pairing with device ( and obviously pan enabled) but still get the message " only file tranfer service on the device ..."
i'm interested to get it to work too also if it's working now with m$ stack .
There may be some other users interested too...

BT pan problem (internet sharing)
Hi , i just upgraded my tytn with lvsw HTC style WM6 and all seem ok . My only prob. is to connect the tytn to the pc using the internet sharing . I have 2 pc , on the first i have the standard M$ XP SP2 bluetooth stack and it work using the tytn internet sharing also if this service is not recognized by the BT wizard . In the other pc ( laptop with internal BT ) i use the toshiba BT stack ( last is V. 5.10 ) and the BT wizard can't discover the PAN service ( or other services ) on the device ( was working before when the same tytn and WM5 OS had DUN service ) saying the device support only file transfer then the wizard end . I tried pairing the devices from the tytn and it is accepted but no BT PAN service anyway... There is a way to make my laptop BT stack recognize the service ( i.e. tytn registry hack or similar ) ? It seem a problem related to PAN/PANU services , maybe the last ( PANU) is not accepted by the toshiba BT stack . THX in advance vdavide

But when upgrade to WM6 the toshiba bluetooth stack can only support wireless transfer file, not PAN. I fix it by uninstalled toshiba bluetooth stack and use MS bluetooth stack and MS bluetooth driver for the internal toshiba bluetooth device.
Bluetooth DUN Profile
Hey all, I've got a bit of a problem. Since the release of wm5 AKU 3.0, BT DUN is no longer present, instead we are supposed to use BT PAN. I read the articles in which microsoft explains why they removed it, and also that it is optional in WM6. I saw the .cab files in MUN's WM6 thread but I can't get them to work. I use BT DUN to dial in to my domain with my VPN at the windows logon screen. BT PAN is about as useful as a frying pan in this case because I need to be logged in to connect BT PAN...I think they call that a conundrum Anyway ever since I've had the trinity I have been using ICS with USB which does auto connect before logon. The thing is I prefer BT because it is just simply more convenient. If anyone has a solution, either buy adding a working BT DUN profile or with BT PAN I'd really like to know about it.
Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307235
I already read that thread but it's a no go
I also would really need the DUN Profile, but it does not work on mine too...
I just went and tried superdave's widcomm stack for the hermes, no joy though.
I'm running WM6 SE (not TE) and my DUN profile is flawless. Use it from my TomTom 910, laptop and work PDA. Wish PAN was supported by other devices so I could use all 3 at once.
what's WM6 SE? and where can I get it?
Does the WIDCOMM bluetooth stack install work with Dell Axim x51v WM6 (Football)?
I want to be able to tether my Axim x51v up to my cell phone using bluetooth so I can access the internet occasionally. I tried to install the WIDCOMM bluetooth stack and then the x51v was no longer visible by Vista's Windows Mobile Device Center. I ended up doing a hard reset and am back to the Microsoft bluetooth stack which is so limited in comparison. Anyone have any suggestions?

rolwu: can you go into settings --> connections --> usb to pc and try to uncheck 'enable advanced network functionality' and tell me what happens please? also, do you still have a 'bluetooth explorer' icon in programs? what happens if you click on that icon? just a couple of the problems that i had right off the bat with the widcomm bluetooth stack and want to see if you have them as well. it is very possible that i installed it wrong or just did something incorrectly. thanks!
Broadcomm stack works on my ROM and works fine
Football said: Broadcomm stack works on my ROM and works fine Click to expand... Click to collapse Yes it works!!!! Hi Football, are you planning to remove the old Microsoft Stack ? It would be nice to release also a Widcomm enabled ROM... Cheers!
Football: first of all, thank you for the work you did to create the great WM6 image for the Axim x51v. You have breathed new life into my old device. If you would not mind Football, would you please give me a link to the Broadcomm stack that you installed and instructions, or a link to a thread that provides instructions, on how to install it? For some reason the one that I installed, Widcomm (which I assume is the same as Broadcomm), did not work properly. Oh, and do you have a paypal account Football? I would not mind sending you a small gift as a token of my appreciation for your efforts.
I went ahead and tried to install the BroadcomBluetoothStackX51V05 from aximsite (which I assume is the correct one to use) and performed a soft reset as instructed. I then made the change to the registry to set the flow control value to '0' (not sure if that is still required). However, I have a few problems using this bluetooth stack: (a) The Axim will no longer synchronize with Windows Mobile Device Center (using Vista Ultimate). If someone can please explain how to get this working I would appreciate it. (b) If I go into Settings --> Connections --> USB to PC, I can not uncheck the 'Enable advanced network functionality' or I get this error - "Failed to disable RNDIS to use Serial." It was suggested to uncheck this in other posts related to troubleshooting failed connections with WMDC. (c) Programs --> Bluetooth Explorer, when launched tells me that "Bluetooth radio is turned off. Do you want to turn it on?" Bluetooth is already on but I select 'Yes' and eventually it tells me "Failed to turn on Bluetooth radio." These are the problems I have noticed so far. Do others who are using this Bluetooth stack have the same problems with the WM6 A03 ROM? Can you synchronize with Windows Mobile Device Center? I appreciate you help and feedback.
Hi djlenoir... I installed the Widcomm stack from Aximsite and I also experienced same problems as you... The '0' in the registry is not required for normal operation I think. The Hardware Flow Control must be disabled only if you connect an A2DP device to improve performance and stabilty. I'm having issue about point (c) as you and I think the BT explorer only works with MS Stack... When I tried It, also created a useless bluetooth device folder(same as CF or SD) in the file explorer wich I had to remove deleting a startup menu shortcut created by the system. Another issue is the BT Obex file transfer speed wich cannot be sustained at so high default speed (I'm having chopping between 2 and 60 KB/s. Reverting to slow speed using BTSpeedSwitcher seems to solve the problem but speed si only 28-30 KB/s. Tryed with MANY BT dongles and different PC stack (Widcomm, M$, Bluesoleil). Cheers

dell aximx50v AO3 ROM
hi, i had just upgraded my dell axim x50v with A03 rom. It doesnt have a ftp bluetooth and connection cannot be made because it doesnt offer any sevices. pls advice , do i need to install any additonal pbluetooth program ? thanks.
What A03? WM5? WM6? Or is it just the point of the game to guess? For info, I have WM6 A03 Beta 1 and bluetooth works fine (with my GPS at least, so the serial port service works).
dell axim x50v wm6 ao3 how about the ftp bluetooth file transfer ? are they working ?
Dunno, I really only use bluetooth for the GPS. It's well known that WM6 has issues with WiFi and WPA on X50v, but with bluetooth, I assumed everything was working (since COM ports work fine). I used bluetooth for network sharing at some point, which required a hacked Widcomm driver for a USB dongle, but that's a different story (and a different PPC using a CF bluetooth card anyway).
Bluetooth ActiveSync Schaps 4.31 WWE Problem
Hello, for hours I have been trying to get ActiveSync to work with my Hermes (XDA Trion). Interestingly, everything worked fine with Schaps older ROM 3.54. Actually, the problem can be split into two seperate problems: 1. When I try to pair my Hermes with my Notebook (MSI dongle with Bluesoleil 2.3) and I search for new devices, it discovers it. After I enter a passkey on the PPC a window pops open on the notebook. I punch in the same exact number as before but my PPC just stalls with the "hour clock" running. Sometimes I get a time out error after waiting about 5 minutes. If I don't enter a passkey I can pair the devices with no problem. 2. Once I have paired both devices (with no passkey) I can manage to refresh the offered services to ActiveSync. Nevertheless, I still get an error message that there is no existing Bluetooth partnership with a PC with ActiveSync support. Thus, I'm still not able to sync via bluetooth If you have a solution, let me know! Thanks! sojakim
same HW no issues I happen to have both the Hermes with Schap's 4.31 WWE Lite AND the MSI Bluesoleil BT 2.0 dongle as well, and bluetooth Activestink is no issue on my end. Works perfectly.
using 4.31 lite as well.. no issues with rgd to bluetooth connections with my HP tablet TC1100 (XP Pro Tablet Edition 2005)..
