Yes.. i was not aware of the number, only wen it vent wrong i saw that.
The only information on the qtek 9090 is "serial v2.60"
- Nothing wil it react on, soft reset, hard reset, any combination of the buttons
I have tryed to telnet to the device, and the only responce it came with is "Q995" ( as i remember) no matter what i wrote to the device, that was the only anser.
- So ... don't do that home
I have now contacted the firm that i have bought it from, and the say "bummer - send it back to os"
- and thats wat i have to do tomorrow.
Well.
Now for a month ago i sendt my qtek 9090 return to the company that i bought it from.
They have repaired it, and i got my own phone in my hand now.
The fee that i must give is €84 and - i think it was ok, so i payed the company and went home...
Next time i upgrade the firmware i will be more concerned.. if ever
Thats the end of this story.

Well, tomorrow I will go down to Accord HK (Hong Kong Service agent) and return by SECOND XDA IIs. This will be about my 8th visit to Accord in the three months of owning a IIs.
The first model had its internal microphone replaced three times before I simply got fed up and asked for a replacement.
Now, the replacement has a defect. Everytime I remove the Sim card, the unit HARD resets! Its ridiculous.
I really dont know what to do now. People still complain they cant hear me properly (with the old AND replacement unit), and now the hard reset issue is just too much to handle. I think I will ask them for a Mini and refund me the balance money?
What do you guys with the IIs think? Am I just expecting too much?
Not sure if this is a defect.
If I remove the battery from my XDAII for just a few seconds, my unit also hard-resets.
That's why I never never take the battery out anymore.
Cheers
Pat
Hi.
I would say that this is a defect/bug on the BA.
Several people have the same issue when battery is removed.
I don't have this issue.
I can remove the battery with the Device turned on, or turned off. No loss of data.
this is certainly a defect. The IIs has a backup battery specifically for this reason. My first (now returned) unit didnt have this problem. IIs users know about this of course.
I just wonder how everyone is living with the low sound problem...
EXcuse me but Jam sucks , i think XDa2 is the way to go 8)
Ok, so overall not impressed with the BA. It clearly has some serious issues... but I never expected this!
I noticed today that when the screen is on (ie. during a phonecall) my handset now makes a high pitched whistling noise emmitting from the screen!! It's audiable from a good 2.5 feet away and is horribly annoying!
Anyone else had this problem/found a solution? If someone could check to see if they all do it I would be very appreciative
-Mike
Yes, I had exactly the same problem. After various emails and telephone calls I sent it back to my distributor (expansys) and they sent it to Dubai. Exactly 4 weeks later it came back with a brand new screen.
Don't get too excited though, as the whistle came back after about 6 weeks. Just got used to it now.

wheeeeeeeeeee
Yeah, I can vouch for you guys here...
I'm currently on handset #3, and into month #5 with my Orange UK Contract. Within a month or so, the whistle comes back, and Orange send me a new phone.
I'm sure they must now have it in their diaries to just ship me a new one!
Thankfully I have Orange's insurance, which means I get new phones... but they've recently changed their T&C to say that I must pay £15.00 to process the exchange.
As far as I'm aware, if the unit is faulty within the first 12 months, it is Orange's obligation with HTC to provide me a new unit, FOC - statutory consumer rights etc? Or is that the first 3 months for an exchange, and 12 months for repair?!
Either way, their insurance (which costs £5/month) has gone down in value for money a LOT now.
R.
Damnit. Mine went today for repair. Apparantly it has to have the same fault three times before 02 will replace it
This truly is the worst handset I ever had for reliability.
Yep same problem here. Started after about a month....not found a cure.
strange, i never had this problem!!!! :?:
does it make any difference with Asia IIs? I haven't had that issue yet. Only issue i have is when the phone is in Vibration mode .. the volume slider starts to vibrate and make a buzzing noise (kinda annoying).
XDA IIs Asia model owners
did any on the XDA IIs owners with asia model ever face this problem? put in ur views!
Yeah, I had the handset just over a month. Maybe its just the odd one has some kinda dodgy component which after about that time has an adverse effect on the screen. Strange, I hate this thing so much but after a day of no PDA I miss it terribly
mike: whats ur country
hi mike,
whats ur country of origin and was ur XDA iis of Asian origin?
Sorry no, It's UK
I've had an O2 XDA IIs for about 3 months, other than it crashing randomly when I got it, it has been absolutely fantastic.
The crashing was fixed by removing the O2 software.

maybe you could try an IMATE rom 1.40 i have this and it solved all the minor problems that i had when i was on the pants o2 rom!!!
Apparently, the whistling we are hearing is from the backlight circuit.
I can't remember whether the BA uses fluorescent or elctroluminescent devices for backlight, but if you listen to almost ANY EL device (mp3 players, watches, etc) you will find they, too, eminate a slight whistle.
The emphasis, however, is on _SLIGHT_.
It's due to the high-frequency AC power that is used to give the glow - what we're hearing is the oscillator... well... oscillating.
That is (so I'm told) the technical blurb - and I've listened to all my other EL things I own, and yes, they do whistle too, very very quietly.
So - whistling BA owners - we have FAULTY DEVICES. :-(
R.
Wowzers you know your stuff. My whistling was immediately noticable when it first started and from a distance so it's defo not slight lol.
Cheers for the technical Jargon! I'll use it as ammuntion in the 02 shop when I try to trade this for a 2i
i spent 10min listening to my screen and another 10min on the phone to test out this theory. no whistling BA's here. maybe it's a bad batch of BA?
So the 02 shop just rang me at home. Apparantly the repair centre has decided that I have damaged the screen and that I have to pay £160 for a new screen or £17.50 to get it sent back unrepaired.
I'm not happy considering I KNOW I didn't damage the handset. If it was sat on the desk not doing it, I didnt move it, then it started doing it then I'd say I had nothing to do with it. I especially don't want to pay £160 to get a screen back which will only start whistling again in a month.
02 are scum.
hey all, my XDA II O2 is dead, i have a bit of a story to tell about it too. the poor thing won't boot up past the O2 spash screen.
i was initially selling my O2 around the traps as a working unit, then someone asked me to show them landscape view, and i didn't know how. i soon found out i needed to upgrade to 2003se or 2005. so on my homage to flashing my O2's ROM. i went and tried a 2005 and some random version radio stack hoping to upgrade two things at once, then, only one worked. my OS flash was fine, but my radio ROM didn't work at all. so basically i could get into WM2003, 2003SE, 2005 fine but couldnt use my simcard.
i've tried countless times to manually fix it aswell as using the official O2 ROM update off their site. then i went and sent it to O2 customer service or whatever it's called this year . they charged me $45AUD for general service fee which included flashing the radio and OS roms up to the latest. then they ring me up one morning saying my poor O2 needs a new motherboard (somewhere between $350 - 450 i think). i asked why, they said because it wouldn't power on at all. so i tried turning it on, it didnt work all of a sudden, so to speak.
i still had to pay the $45aud and ended up without a working O2, at all.
i felt furious but helpless and tried not to have to pay the fee, but had to.
long story short, heh, i need to do something with my shell of a XDA II, either sell, sell parts, fix, find a special ROM flash that might fix it. i don't know, i've tried so hard and have gotten nowhere. so, guys, any insight in what i could/should do?? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
OH OH OH also, on that note, i can't go into bootloader mode or any other mode at all, so i cant re-flash
Threaten to sue. It worked partially when you sent it to them as it would power up - they've made it worse.
Richard
hey, thanks for the reply..
i've left it too long, i got so discouraged from touching it after getting it back.
i will ring them up/ get their details on who to ...ring next, i guess.
thanks!

Some of you may have read elsewhere that there is a problem hard-resetting the Samsung i780. I bought mine 3 days ago in NYC. All seemed fine (nice device, well specd) until I ran a regular WM6 app which by chance locked up the device (how unusual for a WM6 device). Normally i would hard reset using a combination of buttons, but couldnt find out how to do it as its not in the manual. i checked online and turns out there are numerous complaints from people with the same problem and no solution. I finally called Samsung UK who told me that there is a special number for dealing with this device, and specifically this problem. I called this number and they told me that:
(a) There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO DO A MANUAL HARD RESET ON THIS DEVICE and the capability cannot be added!
(b) To get it fixed, Samsung will send me a prepaid envelope, I have to send the i780 to them, they reset it and send it back!! only takes 2-5 days (and what am i supposed to do then?)!!! But this is a WM device. it WILL lock up every so often, they ALL do. I asked 'am I supposed to send it to you every week?'. Of course, he said this is the only option. And they wont give me my money back.
(c) The best part: They have known about this problem for OVER A MONTH - which is before they started selling them!
Guys, we have been conned!
I spoke to the retailer. he claims it is not his problem. he also wont give me my money back. So im stuck with a bricked device that if I get fixed will go wrong again, and no one seems to take responsibility. Clearly its faulty design: how could they miss this?
I smell a class action suit coming...
So for all of you out there with this device, know that our model cannot be hard reset and take real care. For all of you thinking to buy this device, I wouls suggest you think long and hard about buying a device that you cannot hard reset.
Anyone with any ideas??
strange, really.. but some quy on modaco wrote:
Anyone tried this (as posted in the XDA forum)?
"with the i780 completely off, press SEND (green) + END (red) + Power ON - it will show up the hard reset confirmation."
many times... didnt work.

Funny haha, how similar is your case to mine (98%? the only diff here is locations)
Well, yes, we already made a few post about it, I am gonna start up a page for the i780 hard reset issue soon!!
Let all "Bricked club" member join!! and Sansung, you heard us, do something..
Or else....... (We will do it our own way, haha)
see:

this is the equivalent of a hard reset
i have a i780 , dead, because flashing with drain battery, how to put mode boot ,
Go after them!
This is ridiculous! If there is a class actions suit, count me in!! I am appalled by Samsung. I switched from being a long time Palm user (who have been very supportive if the device has been faulty) to the i780 because finally I thought here is the all-in-one device I have been looking for that had all the Treo 750 lacked.
They need to recall without questions, and provide everyone with new versions. I am so pissed off right now as the device is only 2 days old ... I will spend a lot(!) of time and effort to go after Samsung.
Calm down people They have fixed the hardreset issue in an updated rom released in Asia. So the green and red button works for making a hard reset. I am sure that Samsung in Europe soon will put this in an updated roms for us Europeans. I talked to Swedish Samsung today and an update to WM 6.1 is coming late summer.
Hello, I something serious. During the upgrade my qtek 9000 to WM6, I inadvertently unplugged the USB cable. Since QTEK does nothing, not even the bootloader. Doctor then? please, do not tell me that my qtek 9000 is dead or I will hang
PS :
we need to know before I made upgrades Roma radio and extrom without worries. we must also know that I have never upgraded the bootloader The simptomes:
1 - When I met bootloader mode, it displays the menu "press 0 to restore ...", and there if I type" 0 " or "x", Qtek does nothing more (off screen)
2 - This is not because batteries, I have tested with 3 batteries full.
3 - The software mtty does not detect Qtek, even with USB connection Activsync disabled.
4 - Do you think it is possible to upgrade the Bootloader? If someone knows where I can buy a motherboard for my Qtek 9000? ..
