Sending SMSs with .net cf - Windows Mobile Software Development

Hello,
I'm new to .net cf programing (but I've some .net expierience on desktops) and I bought a xda2 last week here in germany.
And now I get sick of the poor sms client (pocket outlook) it can't send flash messages and it doesn't request delivery reports. So I downloaded the cf for vs.net 2003 and tried to figure out how to send sms with the phone editon. But I haven't a clue how to do this. I can't find a msdn article - there aren't any? I don't think so.
Somebody can give me a hint?

Send SMS
Sending an sms is straight forward, things to watch out for though is the message format, there are a number of options which can give you undesired results if you are not carefull. In particular Class1, 2 & 3.
Here is a link to some sample C# code.

Hope this helps

Receiving push sms messages

Is it possible to receive push sms messages with a Qtek 2020 with windows 2003se? I'm trying to download new ringtone's etc. but I do not get the messages with the link to download the tone's etc. On other phone's I do receive them.
If I remember correctly these messages are special wap/push messages and not regular sms messages. Maybe some 3th pary software is available but my search on the internet didn't bring a solution.
Who knows how this can be done? Or maybe it can't. Thanks
this post has the details on how to enable untrusted wap pushes:
http://www.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/9063.html
the crux of the discussion is this (i've just done this, and it works fine)
in a regeditor go to HKLM\security\policies\policies and change the key 100D to the new value 4095
enjoy

Does an app exist to auto retry sending text messages

Hi does anyone know if theres an app that that will do this for the wizard or wm5 in general , as i still have times when i forget to resend messages after they fail when im in a bad reception area.
Thanks
Matt
Unless there's something out there which already does this, I'm going to break out in a C# frenzy and attempt to write one myself.
Anyone got any pointers to code that does stuff in terms of accessing the WM5 mail folders?
There is one but hard to find...
The Palm Threaded Messaging app solves this problem and is very nice!
i have a verizon xv6700 and the sms app will ask to resend if there is a failure in the delivery its called text message retry and it appears in my program files dont know who makes it but the version info is 1.13 copright 2005 any other questions?
Hi all thanks for the replys i thought this thread had died , i think the issue has gone away with AKU3.3 though i need to have a look.

Error

I have upgraded to LVSW Windows Mobile 6 and satisfied with its performance. But the same SMS problem is still here.
When i get SMS and reply it using its REPLY option then following message appears:-
Your SMS cant be sent.
Your call barring settings are enabled.
But when i go to my contacts, select the name and then send him msg, SMS goes very fine without any error.
I did not had this problem with built in ROM at the time of purchase in TYTN. Its quite irritating as i communicate alot on SMS. I know there are alot of genuis people around, so any solution will be appreciated.
Reliance.

SMS problem: Can't send sms larger than 160 chars.

Hi all
I have come across the problem that I can't send SMS larger than 160 chars after I upgraded to the "official" WM6. I am using the Swedish version on a HTC TyTN. When I try and send a message that is larger than the 160 chars i get a message saying (loosely translated from Swedish) Can't send SMS. After I click ok I also get notification on the bottom left part of the sms window saying synchronization error.
Has anyone else got the same problem and if so have anyone found a solution.
/Nicklas
Just to clarify...
I take it to mean that you could sent sms that were over 160 characters before you upgraded?
Because most of the providers that I know don't allow that.
Found something on the forums about this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293505
Hope it helps.
Yes I could since the SMS program automatically sends the large SMS in smaller parts.
Say I make an SMS with 203 chars then it would send it as 2 sms, one with the first 160 chars and then a second sms with 43 chars and when the SMS arrive to the recieving phone it will be put together if that phone is capable of that. Now days I think all phones can do this. Or at least should be able to do this but after the upgrade to WM6 this fails on my TyTN.
i guess the previous version of the SMS application was allowing what is called multiparts message, meaning it send as many SMS of 160 car regarding your text lengh but with no guarantee that the reviever will have them in the proper order
usually SMS is limited to 160 car
larsuck: Thanx for the link but nothing in that helped.
So if anyone else have any idea I would much appreciate it because it is a bit frustrating that it worked with wm5 and not with wm6 so far
Have you tried to take a look at DiStefano's Cab Collection? There is an Palm SMS application. You can try it with this application if it is possible on you're device. Its a small test!
Good luck
Well I found out how to fix it.
I did this:
Once upgraded settings need to be changed to ensure desired operation, on the device go to start>settings>connections(tab)>USB to PC, untick the box (Enable advanced network functionality) then exit back to the today screen.
Click to collapse
??? Why would this have an effect on SMS limitations?
I don't know exactly why but what I did was that I hard reseted the unit and after that multipart sms worked as it should. Then I connected the usb cable and ActivSync wanted to reconfigure the settings so I went through the wizard. One of the questions I get is if I want to let internet calls and mms to be sent when the unit is connected and I choose that. Then I let the unit sync with my PC.
After that I couldn't send multipart sms again until I unticked the Enable advanced network functionality box
If anyone knows why this is please enlighten me

SMS - Spreading Software

Hi!
First of all plz excuse my bad english
I´m looking for a WM "tool" that spreads SMS
It should work as follows:
I recieve a SMS; the tool checks, if the user who sent the message is signed in my "spreading list"; if yes --> send the same message to all other users in my list (except the user who sent the original message)
If no such tool exists, or if it is not possible to code such a tool, i would be happy if you could tell me an online service wich makes this possible (must work in austria)
thanks for your help!
(THIS IS NOT meant for spam or advertisement !!!)
I have a solution for you.
Hi,
Try Magic call from Mobiion (http://www.mobiion.com/) it's your exact solution and i guess the only one.
I have tried to make it work exactly as you requested and it worked great.
Unfortunately i spent about 25 SMS while testing because i made a mistake by make it send an SMS to my number when it receives an SMS from my number too, so it went in an un-ending loop sending and receiving SMS. So don't make the same mistake.
If you found it unfamiliar and had difficulties configuring it just let me know to give you a hand.
Have fun
