I am debugging some eVC4 programs on the PPC emulator using my laptop. The IDE can connect to the emulator normally whenever my laptop connects to the LAN.
But when I disconnect the LAN cable from the laptop, my eVC4 IDE can not connect to the emulator. I guess some settings on Platform Manager Configurations need to be changed.
Can someone help me for some hints? As I usually work with my laptop at home (no LAN).
Thanks
Quan
If you do not have an active network connection then you need to install a new network connection using the microsoft loopback adapter (something like that).
I found that I needed to disable the normal network connection and enable the loopback connection when using my computer at home.
You might need to disable the loopback as well as enabling the normal network connection when you reconnect it.
I did and it was OK now.
Thanks very much.

Hi, is it possible to connect the BA, via WIFI (P2P connection), to a PC with a WIFI card and use the PC's internet connection tu surf the web?
I tried: I can make the BA get the signal, but when I try to connect to a website it doesn't work.
Thank you in advance.
Bye.

I don't think its possible to do this directly using a P2P WIFI connection, but if you can get activesync to work over a P2P WIFI connection, it might work. I know is I use activesync over a USB connection & I can surf the net all day, so I'm thinking it might be possible to use the same approach over wifi.
Thing is I don't know if its possible to use activsync over P2P wifi
Solution
The problem is that windows not chain the IP Adrress of PC and Pocket bacause Nat not work under Xp basic system.
It's possible however to install a third party software to route packet from Pc to pocket i think all NAT's program can do that!!!!
Find one and Good Luck.
With WM2003SE i've used WINROUTE
Maybe?
Hi fabbor75!
Maybe your problem isn't the connection to the PC, it's maybe the DNS-resolution. Check your TCP/IP-settings on your BA, the important thing ar the DNS-Server.
The badest thing you must do is that you have to configure all TCP/IP setting manually: IP-Address, Subnetmask, Gateway and DNS-Server.
But you have to configure EXTERNAL DNS-Server on your BA, this one you got from your internet-provider, not the PC to which your BA is connected P2P. And the Gateway is the IP-Adress of your WiFi-card which is built-in in your PC.
Maybe this helps you.

please help ... I've just managed to establish a wireless local network between the xdaExec and a Vaio laptop through their WiFi adaptors (the laptop is connected to a fast broadband line through ethernet).
All I want is to be able to surf the Net on the xdaexec from another room of my flat (I don't own a wireless router and the connection between the laptop and the xda is in the "ad-hoc" mode).
At the moment I can't open any websites from the xda ... any ideas ??... (I attach the relevant screenshot) Do I need to go out and buy a wireless router ?? (there must be a way to do it without one I hope...)
you could try (assuming the Vaio is winXP) using terminal services to connect to your laptop then surf the net on that via the XDA.
You need to enable remote access on the laptop, (right click my computer go to properties, click remote tab and tick the box) set up a username and password for your account on the laptop.
Then open Terminal services on the XDA and enter the Local IP address of the laptop.
This isn't really the correct way of browsing with your XDA but it is an alternative, and cool when you show people how you can control your laptop from your phone!!

if using winXP:
bridge your ethernet and wifi connections using network connections and make sure that the "allow people to connect throught this connection" (or something like that) box is ticked
not winXP:
no idea sorry
oh damn why don't u simly buy a wlan router? its not that expensive... and its easier and more secure too.
I have no problem to connect to the internet (to update weather, news etc) when I connect my P3300 to my desktop (which connect to the internet through a hardwire modem and a hardwire router). When I connect the P3300 to my laptop (the laptop is connect to internet through the WIFI rounter), I then cannot update those weather or news in my P3300. What setup do I need to change in the P3300 in order to be able to get to the internet through the laptop's WIFI connection? Thank you for any help.
Should happen automatically if you have a standing ActiveSync connection. No special settings needed. On the other hand - Check your firewall. Maybe some soft on the laptop is preventing your PDA from getting access to the internet!
Thanks Theonly1....one other thing though, I am using Vista ultimate x32....
not tried this yet but....just plug in and it will recognise the phone as a modem or GSM connection for internet surfing on the laptop?
Thanks again
Thanks for the feedback
Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. I have try to disable the firewall, but it still cannot connect to the internet. By the way, the laptop us window XT. If I enable the WIFI on the P3300, then it can connect to the internet by it's own WIFI. But if I disable it's own WIFI, then it did not connect to the internet throught the laptop's WIFI connection. I think there must be some setting in the network connection, so that it will be able to use the laptops WIFI and get information through it. But I do not know how. Any help is appreciated. Thanks again
Hello !
I have router but without computer and i need to have administrator access for it.
I have BA with CRADLE (usb output) + USBtoRJ45 extenders + UTP CAT5e + AirLive WL-5470 Access Point/Router
Is it possible to setup the LAN card from BA TCP/IP (example: 192.168.1.253)
and then in opera 192.168.1.252 and enter in admin page from router.
See Attachment/Picture
Sorry for bad English.
sorry for the late reply.
unfortunately, there are 2 problems with that plan:
1. the usb to rj45 dongle you are using requires the device it is connected to, to be a usb host, the BA is not
2. even if it was, while the usb connection between the BA and the pc is bi-directional, control over data transfer always comes from the pc, the blueangel is not in charge of the connection, it cannot push or pull data.
but here's a simple idea: it is a wireless router, you could look underneath or in the manual for the standard wi-fi settings and connect the BA to it via wlan (if the encryption is not too strong for the BA)
then you should be able to use internet explorer to set the router up correctly. opera mini or skyfire are browsers, that probably cannot do that, because they are graphic browsers, that use remote servers to compress the webcontent before displaying it on the mobile.
yeah i know i can go through Wireless but while my router is working in CLIENT MODE for PC i cant change anything bucause it is then working as another BLUEANGEL that is connecting to another Hotspot.
I have poor 3G and 4G reception at my office. Is there a way to use my USB to connect to a wired network? Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide!
This would only work if you're on one of the newer ROMS that have the " internet pass through" option when you connect your phone this computer....
I pulled this from androidcentral..
1. Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet. Two things to check for your computer’s Internet connection. One, we recommend that you turn off your local network’s firewall. Two, if your computer connects to the Internet via PPP (e.g. Dial UP, xDSL, or VPN), Internet Pass-through will only support TCP protocol.
2. Connect the phone to the computer using the provided USB cable.
3. On the Connect to PC screen, select Internet Pass-through, and then tap Done.
4. On the message window, tap OK.
Edit: also htc sync will have to be installed on the source computer for this to work
Thank you very much for this information. I appreciate your help!
You're welcome, i hope it works for you. I've never tried it, so good luck!
