Hello !
I have router but without computer and i need to have administrator access for it.
I have BA with CRADLE (usb output) + USBtoRJ45 extenders + UTP CAT5e + AirLive WL-5470 Access Point/Router
Is it possible to setup the LAN card from BA TCP/IP (example: 192.168.1.253)
and then in opera 192.168.1.252 and enter in admin page from router.
See Attachment/Picture
Sorry for bad English.
sorry for the late reply.
unfortunately, there are 2 problems with that plan:
1. the usb to rj45 dongle you are using requires the device it is connected to, to be a usb host, the BA is not
2. even if it was, while the usb connection between the BA and the pc is bi-directional, control over data transfer always comes from the pc, the blueangel is not in charge of the connection, it cannot push or pull data.
but here's a simple idea: it is a wireless router, you could look underneath or in the manual for the standard wi-fi settings and connect the BA to it via wlan (if the encryption is not too strong for the BA)
then you should be able to use internet explorer to set the router up correctly. opera mini or skyfire are browsers, that probably cannot do that, because they are graphic browsers, that use remote servers to compress the webcontent before displaying it on the mobile.
yeah i know i can go through Wireless but while my router is working in CLIENT MODE for PC i cant change anything bucause it is then working as another BLUEANGEL that is connecting to another Hotspot.

Hi everybody,
I can think of half a dozen ridiculous applications for a wi-fi connection between my xda2s and my PC, but I'm having problems determining what I need to buy on the PC side: access point, network adapter, wireless network card??
What do you think is the best/cheapest option?
Thanks,
Camed
i think that access points i'm not 100 sure cant connect to other devics and only be connected to from others
and i'm not really sure what you mean the difference between these 2 options are unless you mean network adapter to connect to the access point
" network adapter, wireless network card"
If you should choose to buy an access point, go for a AP with router funtionality.
The price is (should be) allmost the same..
This will allow you to share your broadband (if you got one) connection with both your XDA and your PC.
The phone via standard TP cable (or WLAN), and the phone through WLAN.
The way these will interact with each other, is just like two computers in a network (TCP/IP protocoll).
As for the network adapter and wireless card, these are the same thing..
The only difference is the way you connect them to your computer. (PCI, PCMCIA, USB, etc..)
With these you will be able to use Ad-Hoc, wich is just like a crossed TP cable between two computers.. Allso using the TCP/IP protocol..
As for price, a USB WLAN device should be the cheapest, at $30-$50..
The WLAN router is the most expencive component, priced from $100-$200 i guess..
DISCLAIMER: The prices are estimates! They may vary a lot! And they are based upon the 802.11g (54mbps) standard. 802.11b (11mbps) may be cheaper..
I have a wireless router (with 4 port lan) connected directly to my cable modem. It provides a lot of flexibility. For example, into the router I have plugged my main PC (upstairs), and a Bluetooth Access Point. Downstairs I use my wireless laptop and am able to be online through my broadband connection. I have an XDA II which does not have WiFi, but no matter, because I can use the bluetooth access point to get online. If any friends or family come with their PCs or Laptops, I just plug in either a wireless PCMCIA card into their laptops or a USB wireless adapter into their PCs and they too can get online. I also have a wireless printer server, which is great because I can print from any PC without the requirement of a different PC being logged in.
I can suggest you a bit more advanced solution, specially if you have dedicated internet channel with ethernet cabble on your side (e.g. ADSL modem with ethernet connector or even TP cabble going to you from provider): just buy gateway with access point built in.
An additional benefits of this approach are permanent internet availability via WiFi even if desctop PC is powered off and easy creation of secured SOHO (Small Office or Home Network) infrastructure.
There are a number of such devices. Most of them will provide you with similar functionality:
- one "WAN" ethernet port (where you connect twisted pair from your provider or ADSL);
- usually 4 "LAN" ports where you may connect all your home computers or just make network outlets in different rooms
- WiFi access point built in
- DHCP server for LAN clients headache'less connectivity, NAT server, Firewall (WAN to LAN, LAN to WAN, WLAN to LAN etc) with IP and URL filtering and different tunelling presets, DNS proxy and a lot of flexibility in creation of different virtual servers.
- almost all firewall settings may be scheduled allowing you to restrict the time your family wil play online games
- supports modern strong WiFi encryption and authorisation with WPA or WPA/SK protocols
For example I can suggest Asus WL 500g (which is I bought)
http://www.asuscom.ru/products/communication/wireless/wl-500g/overview.shtml
Cheap enough ($90), flexible, stylish and with number of additional features. With firmware sources available. Print server and FTP/Webcam server (optional)
But: 802.11b/g only, have no built-in battery for internal clock working while device is turned off. Internal clock are automatically sinchronized with external time server when it become available after power-on.
Or another solution, D-Link DI-784 (my office WiFi infrastructure based on this device):
-802.11 a/b/g
-have built-in AC-independent clock
-a bit more powerfull transiver
but more expensive ($200)

As I said above there are a number of such devices on the market, but I deal with these two only...
Hi guys, I recently destroyed my XDA2 and got a 2s on the insurance
Bluetooth on WM2003 SE if fair poor, but I managed to upgrade the stack thinger to 3900..... so I'm not completely XDA illiterate.
However, the wifi baffles me! I have access to an unsecured wireless network with internet access, and my 2s will connect to it. When I go on the the internet on my XDA, even with wifi connected it still tries to connect GPRS to use the internet. If I keep clicking cancel, it will load the page (presumably through the wireless network's internet access).
It has become clear that I have no idea what I'm doing with regards to networking. Could someone post a quick guide as to how to set up the wifi (from scratch) so that when it finds an unsecured network it will automatically use it for the internet.
Sorry if there's already a thread on this but I really can't find it. Cheers guys
-Mike
just what i need as well, i have just bought a wifi router so i can use the internet on my xda2s.
using the wireless manger -> wireless LAN manager i get:
STATUS: connected to network
SSID: NETGEAR
TX RATE: AUTO
MODE:INFRASTRUCTURE
CHANNEL 11
BSSID: 00-09-5B-D7-DC-2A
MAC: 00-09-2D-0B-C0-A6
but even when i pull the Ethnet cable (forgot how its spelt) out of the back of the router it still stays connected. so im thinking its more my PC than the xda. the thing is the router came with no software so i have no idea if its connected properly. when i pull this Ethnet cable out of the wifi router o get network cable unplugged. The network card is Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller. Which I have never used.
if anyone has a any ideas it would stop me pulling my hair out.
Sorry to hijack this thread

Mike, I dont think the wifi first and GPRS next works. It doesnt work properly on mine either. If I try a internet access via gprs and a local wifi is readily available, the system does not automatically switch to local wifi.....I think this could be a microsoft issue than a xda issue.

when u pull out the ethernet cable from the back of the router, can you still surf the net from you xda or PC?? that seems odd. So either you are not connecting to "your" own router, or someone else has a same router with unsecured setup and you were locked onto their service....if you follow what I mean. what happens if you kill the power to your router? you should definitely notice that the wifi service disappear in your xda and PC.
Dont expect a router to disappear by simply unplugging the ethernet cable, if the router is powered up, it will show up on your xda and the PC although obviously there will be no internet access.....
sorry if i wasn't clear. i meant i was still receiving a signal from the wifi router. i could never use the internet on the pda
update:
i can browse my pc files wirelessly using resco explorer, using the standard file explorer i can view the pc files using \\network/c and i have finally been able to connect to activesync.
however i still can not connect to the internet.
Any ideas, from looking on this forum it seems lots of peeps are having problems with this but nobody seems to have the answer
XDA Wi-Fi Solution....It Works!!!!
Hi,
I'm new to the forum and new to XDA2i (presumably XDA2s is same!) ....
I too had many frustrations connecting the wi-fi...but now I've cracked it, here's how.......
On first very first use (or following a hard re-set) device users are prompted to choose “What do you want WLAN to connect to?” The option bullets are ‘Internet’ or ‘Work’….’Work’ should be selected, this will connect them to the nearest WLAN (if this network is WEP encrypted it should be switched to ‘Open’ rather than ‘shared’ as is often the case).
Next prompt asks for any WEP Encryption ‘Pass Key’ to be input, when doing so omit any ‘-‘ between character pairs. Normal start-up should then be completed. Once device is up and running…..
From ‘Start’ pull-down on the ‘Today Screen’ select…. ‘settings’>’connections tab’>’connections icon’>’advanced tab’>’Select Networks’> pull-down ‘My Work Network’ > ‘OK’ out of selections to save and exit.
Go to ‘Wireless Manager’ in programs, select WLAN icon from main screen (which should turn green to show active), then select mini ‘WLAN’ icon from lower toolbar to see the status of the connection, quality of signal etc.
That did it for me......
Cheers

Hi, is it possible to connect the BA, via WIFI (P2P connection), to a PC with a WIFI card and use the PC's internet connection tu surf the web?
I tried: I can make the BA get the signal, but when I try to connect to a website it doesn't work.
Thank you in advance.
Bye.
fabbor75
I don't think its possible to do this directly using a P2P WIFI connection, but if you can get activesync to work over a P2P WIFI connection, it might work. I know is I use activesync over a USB connection & I can surf the net all day, so I'm thinking it might be possible to use the same approach over wifi.
Thing is I don't know if its possible to use activsync over P2P wifi
Solution
The problem is that windows not chain the IP Adrress of PC and Pocket bacause Nat not work under Xp basic system.
It's possible however to install a third party software to route packet from Pc to pocket i think all NAT's program can do that!!!!
Find one and Good Luck.
With WM2003SE i've used WINROUTE
Maybe?
Hi fabbor75!
Maybe your problem isn't the connection to the PC, it's maybe the DNS-resolution. Check your TCP/IP-settings on your BA, the important thing ar the DNS-Server.
The badest thing you must do is that you have to configure all TCP/IP setting manually: IP-Address, Subnetmask, Gateway and DNS-Server.
But you have to configure EXTERNAL DNS-Server on your BA, this one you got from your internet-provider, not the PC to which your BA is connected P2P. And the Gateway is the IP-Adress of your WiFi-card which is built-in in your PC.
Maybe this helps you.
Greetings, Peter
Hi there, I have a big problem that will force me to downgrade to WM5 if I can't solve it.
Here's the facts:
I don't have a telephone line at home and I'm connecting to internet using a flat GPRS/UMTS connection with Vodafone using my TyTN as bluetooth modem (using the old WM5 DUN profile).
Since I upgraded to WM6 (and I love it) the DUN profile and Wireless Modem has been replaced by Internet Sharing application. It works very fine but it messes up my network connection with my other PC.
I used to share the internet connection this way: the bluetooth modem was connected to my main PC (AMD Sempron). The LAN (manually setted up) on this PC was: 192.168.0.1 / subnet 255.255.255.0. The LAN (manually setted up) on other PC (AMD Athlon) was 192.160.0.10 / subnet 255.255.255.0 / gateway 192.168.0.1. It all worked very fine.
Now as I connect the PAN bluetooth internet sharing my main PC (Sempron) acquires a new network address (the TyTN seems to be automatically setted as 192.168.0.1) so the LAN on the PC is 192.168.0.153 /subnet 255.255.255.0 /gateway 192.160.0.1 and the connection works fine but I'm not able anymore to connect via LAN tothe other PC even if I try different LAN settings on the Athlon (I tried to manually set it as 192.168.0.10 /subnet 255.255.255.0).
Who can tell me how to configure the LAN setting on the 2 PCs so that I can access internet enabling PAN bluetooth on the TyTN with the main PC (Sempron) and still continue accessing remote folders and files via LAN on the other PC (Athlon)?
It would be great if I could share the connection with the 2 PCs like I did before, but I'll be ok if I can connect to internet with one and have a working LAN between the 2 PCs.
Hope I explained it well.
Waiting for suggestions. Thank you!
Pick a machine that is to be the internet gateway. Do this by initiating the BT PAN network on the first machine. On the first machine's IP stack, Enable Internet Connection Sharing. On the second machine, use the first machine's IP as your default gateway.
You should then be able to access the internet from both machines.

Ok, I started the BT PAN on my main machine (AMD Sempron) but how do I enable the connection sharing? When I was using the DUN connection I used the Advanced Options section to enable the Connction Sharing, but where do I find this opzion now?
On a Windows Machine the IP range to be assigned when Internet Connection Sharing is turned on is 192.168.0.x. That is also the range used by Internet Sharing on the phone. This is a routing conflict. You cant have a 0.x being handed out from the phone to the 1st computer and then have that computer handing out 0.x addresses to any other computers. The IP range the Phone hands out needs to be regedited to something else like 192.168.1.x As far as I know, you cannot change the address range in Windows Internet Connection Sharing. You will have to do it on the phone.
If this helps.
Fellows.
I was digging into the search an could find nothing about it.
I had my excalibur working properly and after a hard reset, I was unable to reactivate this function.
I'm telling about use USB cable to share PC internet connection to HTC. I mean, navigate over the internet (with HTC) using USB cable conection instead of WIFI or GPRS alike.
When I sync my mobile, it automatically disables the WIFI connection, but I can't navigate just through USB connection.
Any thoughts?
thanks
