When I go to App Info, there is a button called "Restrict Data usage" - "Mobile Data".
When I click on this, I have the option to either click or unclick a button called "Mobile data".
Which setting will eliminate the use of mobile data and only permit wifi for data?
If I click it, am I clicking "mobile data" on?
Or am I clicking "restrict" on?
Thank you

Sorry, you seem to be french, so sorry, maybe that is why your answer is not understandable.
Make it simple
If I click "ON" next to mobile data, will it be allowed or not ?

Yes, maybe, but it is NOT written data and wifi!..
Is it really so hard to understand these simple questions?

Please calm down, depending on the roms, it may be different, know that by default everything is authorized, do some tests just in case.

But that is why I asked three times two extremely simple questions:
What exactly is it that makes it so hard to answre these?
Of course the problem is actually with Xiaomi, their english translator seem to be so inexperiencd that they do not understand that their settings are contradictory
If I click it, am I clicking "mobile data" on?
Or am I clicking "restrict" on?
In the photo no restrictions,if you uncheck it goes into restriction, Chinese devices..

Just wanted to share for the people that arnt aware.
Hit menu, developer settings.
1. Force GPU rendering.
2. Limit background processes to 3 or 4 (this will need to be set on every reboot).
3. Turn both animations off.
I say may work on aokp, because I havnt used it yet.
This may turn into a full blown "battery saving tips" thread, but atm its for ICS.

I'm sure most people know, but for the slow ones like me, would you mind a little how-to for your tips? I can do the limit background processes, but don't know how to do the others...
Thanks!

The tips 1-3 are all in the same menu, developer settings. Sorry I couldnt post the image, using xda app, not allowing me to, but theres the direct link.

LOL , thanks Adrian, and yeah Im about tired of the new advanced 3g in Atl. Better speeds outside maybe, less signal penetration, definitely.

Sadly that's where the advantages of GSM shine
I just went through the animations, it doesn't make sense why people would want to be turning at x10 its redunk lol
anyone know if in ICS theres an option like in GB to turn 'background data' off?

Yep. You can either shut the 3G off from: Settings > Wireless and Network > More > Mobile Networks > 3G data [checkbox].
OR you can just turn the background data off like you said: Settings > Accounts and Sync > ON/OFF switch in the upper bar.
Hope this helps. You can also use Juice defender or something like it to stop the background data automatically and let it connect once every 15, 30, 60 minutes or so...
Okay, I'm pretty sure this was just a fluke because I cannot find how to do it anymore, but I thought it was pretty neat. When I went into call settings and networks, it let me choose between a list of LTE, Maritime (3g), and 2g. I have read that there is a setting in the hidden network settings that deals with this, but have been unable to change the settings. Has anyone else run into this settings menu? I was just playing around with the phone, and there it was, now it is no more. Maybe. For those that have no LTE coverage, I bet this could really help with battery life.

That's what I thought it was, too. But, unless I'm being totally oblivious to something, it does not show up there anymore. The only list to show up is the APN list which I'm able to populate with full network settings, but what I'm talking about was the ability to switch between LTE, 3G, and 2G on the fly. I wish I would have gotten a screen shot. Can you do a screen shot of what you are talking about?

Nope. I don't have that. I have the lt28at, btw. Is that the international version? That's not even the screen that I got when I got into those settings. Mine was not a pop-up, it was another screen of its own. It listed "LTE" (not sure if it had 4G next to it or not) then it had 2 different "Maritime 3g" settings, then 2g. I remember this specifically because I thought the word Maritime being in there was odd. My network settings page is attached.

That implementation is flawed. In my experience if you just press ok it doesn't default, you have to actually uncheck / recheck for it to get defaulted. Odd and buggy feature.

can u tell me under which menu? thanks [emoji16]
I was saying that is flawed in the respect that if I just press OK it won't set the app as default , but maybe it's just me , didn't give it too much thought cause I like the menu to choose things and I just press the app and stay away from the OK button.

Does anyone know what the area below the search bar is called (the area where the link is displaying)? I'm trying to figure out which flag in the chrome://flags option to disable. I've already turned off recent bookmarks visited and recent downloads. I want all the clutter off the page. Google is crowding this page with tons of junk now. They need options in the regular settings to turn these off instead of going through the flags settings.

Well, if you mean "they need to put it in the regular settings instead of flags" then no, its not... because Google will never do that, but I used this guide and my "new" pages are 100% COMPLETELY blank- just the way I like it. Not sure what else you were looking for?

I do, and they keep coming back unfortunately.
I'm living in an area with a not so strong 5G-NSA coverage.
The 9 Pro won't connect to it most of the times, but if it connects the speeds are a lot higher than just with plain LTE.
Is there a way to force a 5G-NSA connection? (Like forcing LTE through *#*#4636#*#*). This would be amazing.
Have u tried the app, "Network Signal Guru"? It's a root app with base features plus paid features for a monthly subscription. It has forcing options available and might be worthwhile to check out.

That one is unchecked by default for nearly all providers as this feature is just dumb.
Still there's no way to force NSA. And please show a screenshot from your developer settings, wold be cool to switch between SA and NSA. I just cannot find the option there.

With root "network signal guru" will allow you to force what you want. I had mentioned, but just wanted to add again in case anyone needed the info.
You can try run in dialer *#*#4636#*#*, go into Phone Information and choose NR only in Set Preferred Network Type.
