There's no bypassing an Amazon blacklisting unless the device is rooted. But even then you will not be able to register it with Amazon servers to use the Amazon app store or any Amazon services. You would have to sideload everything.
Depending on which Stick model it is, and what firmware version it's on, you might be able to use one of the rooting methods on XDA.

Is it a 3g model? Provisioning is related to a data plan I believe so if he has not purchased a plan the I would imagine he would get a provisioning failure.
Not a 3G, amazon said it was their fault
No it's not a 3G unit.
Since the kindle fire HD was still under warranty he called customer service at amazon. They told him
it was their fault. They said they had a firmware update that caused this problem on certain units.
amazon is sending him a new kindle fire HD. They only thing is the warranty was not extended which sucks.
No way of knowing if the new one is junk or not. He spoke with a higher level manager and he got a new
1 year warranty which should have been the case from the beginning.
Can you imagine getting a replacement with only a couple weeks left in warranty and it craps out.

Well sounds like he got lucky. Maybe that was the reason they pulled the 8.4.1 update but that is what mine is on and I have not experienced this issue. The upside is systems are fairly easy to replace.
I'm trying to unlock my HTC One M8 from AT&T. I've already unlocked my Amazon Fire Phone and my Nokia Lumia 1020 and I'd like to unlock the HTC One M8 as well.
When I went to the unlock form, I typed in my IMEI number and it said that AT&T doesn't have my IMEI number registered. I triple checked to make sure I typed it right ad it still said the same thing. Any ideas?

ATT has changed their unlocking policies and I had no luck even with multiple attempts. In the end I decided my time was too valuable and I used this site (Less than $4) - unlockcode247 dot com

AT&T changed their unlocking policies to make it easier. All you have to do is fill out the form and they give you a code. I've done it three times over the last week. It's really easy. I don't know why you're plugging a site.
This was not intended to be a plug but after spending over a week getting my phone unlocked through AT&T including their website and not making any progress short of every rep telling me they won't do it any more I tried to find a cheap site on various threads on here. This was the only one I found to be reasonably priced. Just wanted to safe someone the time if they are in the same boat.
If the phone's IMEI associated with your account? If you bought it from another source, it wouldn't be and that is why the database won't locate the IMEI. Or even if you bought it from AT&T on your account, it just might not be provisioned properly on your account. I've seen lots of folks have luck with bringing the phone into an AT&T store and having the IMEI linked to your account, then the SIM unlock should work.

I don't think that's the case. I unlocked the Fire Phone and I got that from Amazon for full price. I even unlocked someone else's Fire phone that wasn't linked to my account in any way.

Sadly, I cannot. Several people contacted me after posting that and asked me to help them. I used three of the five that AT&T allows in a year. On the fourth they told me I surpassed my limit. I was more disappointed than anybody since they paid me $100 each!
If you know anybody who uses AT&T they can do it for you. It is very easy. Just find an AT&T user or even a former AT&T user and have them submit the form.
If you're s-off this worked for me. I have T-Mobile variant though, not sure if it matters. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708567
bought a second ZF2 from amazon. tracking shows it arrived 9/4 but i dont have it and had to have amazon open an investigation.....thats great but i have to wait for that before i get my new phone. So being i spent $300 on this new item and i dont have it, i am pissed and want to know if it would be possible to track the imei since Asus labels them on the box and i am sure amazon scans that barcode label. Couldnt they track the imei even if the phone is not activated? or would it have to be activated before the imei can be tracked?
i dont know how imei works with an inactive or active unlocked phone. Wouldnt the owner of the phone have to report the imei as stolen? but how would that work on a phone that didnt have a carrier?
Anyone know about this stuff? thanks in advance!
sidenote - i am sure amazon will send me a new phone once i call them in the morning. I did chat for the claim..... but it pisses me off to think someone might have stolen this from my front door. I would kind if like to find it.

Depending what country but here in Oz if you supply the police with an imei number of a phone that was stolen it can be blacklisted. That means no carrier here in Australia will allow that phone to be used however if it gets shipped outside Australia there is no problem using the phone...
Sometimes you see these phones for sale on ebay with a title saying "For sale overseas only"...
i am in the US. i know imei can be blacklisted with a carrier, but this is an unopened brand new unlocked phone. No sim, no carrier. plus i am more interested in trying to see if i or amazon can track this phone to find out where it is.

Was it sold directly by amazon or an amazon seller? if it was by an amazon seller he "might" have a database containing IMEI's of the phones he sell's, if it was amazon then your out of luck they do not keep records of IMEI of any kind, just explain the issue to amazon im sure they will gladly replace the device.

From Amazon.....not a 3rd party i would be surprised Amazon wont record a serial # or imei # especially since the label is on the outside of the box with a simple barcode label.

I called and they were very good about it. I get the impression this happens a lot. I don't know why they used usps. They make tons of mistakes.
I asked Amazon for the serial number and imei so I can file a police report. Sadly they emailed me the asin number instead. I can not believe they don't keep serial or imei for there products.
Is there a way to get this info from Amazon or even Asus? Police won't take a report with out that info
For most of you this info will be redundant, however, if you are one of the odd people who may still find a deal on Ebay or swappa for an AT&T locked fire phone and want to buy it, please be advised that AT&T will not give you the unlock code because: "The device is no longer supported by the manufacturer and we cannot obtain an unlock code." and they tell you to contact the manufacturer. Then if you try to contact Amazon they will tell you that only AT&T can unlock the phone and they send you back to them and you can spend a good part of one week between the two companies and at the end you will likely have to go to a phone repair shop and pay them $$$ to unlock it for you or purchase a code online.
So be warned, don't buy a sim-locked amazon fire phone unless you are willing to stay with AT&T forever.
This isn't true. At least not for me, I unlocked mine today via ATT request site and had it in least then 10 minutes.

I also couldn't get an unlock code from AT&T a few months back. After multiple calls to both AT&T and Amazon, what I found out was that Fire phones were sold through multiple third-party companies other than Amazon and AT&T. AT&T is willing to provide unlock code if the phone was directly bought from AT&T but if an AT&T branded phone was bought from a third-party (like mine), they were not allowed to give out unlock codes. Your phone was probably originally sold by AT&T directly and this is why you were able to get the unlock code. In my case I even tried unlock services on eBay but they also refunded my money saying they can't get the code. Recently, I bought another Fire phone on eBay for $20 (which was sold for parts but was almost new, nothing wrong with it) but it turned out it was locked to AT&T, and I was unable to get it unlocked so just been using it as a media player.
I also wouldn't recommend anyone intending to use the phone on carriers other than AT&T to not buy the locked version because more than likely you will not be able to get it unlocked (this is why AT&T locked Fire phones on eBay are considerably cheaper than the unlocked versions).
Mine was bought from some eBay reseller 2 years ago to get something for upgrading prime for another year.
I suddenly needed to use it as a backup up phone for a short bit and tested the site above and it worked fine.
I believe you that ATT won't bother with some phones. Just sharing my experience. I would steer anyone away from buying a Fire Phone without any bootloader unlock.
However, if you're like me and have one then might as well plug the IMEI in on the ATT form and see what happens.
Somebody knows a fix for fire phone? Mine is stucked at black amazon logo, can't reach fire logo, reboots continously and can t get into recovery. I am from Romania and i bought fire phone 1 year ago(i have 2 year warranty), so i send it in warranty and they said that my phone have touchscreen broken and liquid sign near usb charging port. I claimed the reseller to consumer protection. I want to say that my phone looks like a new one, and they lie about borken touchscreen and liquid sign. Btw, i can't fix this phone, pc doesn;t recognize fire phone. Fire os 4.6.6.1 all stock. Knows somebody a fix,please...?

@Android# is right. If the AT&T branded phone is originally purchased from any outlet other than AT&T then they don't have the unlock code to give you. In your case the original owner had probably got it from AT&T directly and that is why you could get the unlock code from their website.
Somehow amazon offloaded at&t branded phones onto third party vendors without giving them the unlock codes, and now if you are in the unfortunate position of owning one of those phones no one can give you the unlock could. The people who sell you the codes on ebay likely have an insider at AT&T to obtain the codes and as I said AT&T doesn't have those codes. So the only entity in the world who has those codes is amazon, which is being an a$$ and not giving you the code. I don't understand why they are doing this.

How does a device get blacklisted ? Is it from rooting?
If you order it from amazon and it does not arrive and you make a complain about it, amazon will blacklist the device.
If it arrives and you cancel the re-shipped one, the first one can still be blacklisted. In this case you need to contact support and explain them the situation. When you order it from amazon they register the serial number to your profile. If you have a different serial number in you amazon profile than your actual stick, that is the sign of the administrative problem, maybe the re-shipped (and cancelled) one is assigned to you. This happened with one of my friends in few weeks ago. Support corrected the serial number and it started working.
