Hi All,
I have just purchased a one plus 3 after my nexus died a slow death.
I have seen a couple of post and comments online saying that i should ROM the handset and install a copy of Android "pure"? Is this best way to get the most out of the phone or should i stick with Oxygen? I've never used a phone with Oxygen so i don’t know much about it.
Would installing a copy of "pure" have an effect on speed, battery, camera etc?
Thanks
Darren
The purest android experience, paradoxically, is now offered by OxigenOS.
Most of the rom you can find here, are generally heavy modded by various teams (cyano, omni, slim, paranoid ecc..).
Instead, OxigenOS is mostly stock android with some small, fair modifications that allow you to better enjoy the device.
Moreover, with a custom rom not derived from the stock rom (like OP3Lite), you're always gonna lose something in terms of camera performance.
So, my advice is to enjoy the stock rom for a couple of weeks...
There's always time for modding..
We are still on 4.4.4 and the world has move to 7.0
So far their are no rom even 6.0 based.
I see some lower grade phone with 6.1 based rom like LYF.
Anyway i very happy with my C4, it was one the best phone by MMX.
I still have an A120 clone with stock. But I'm having trouble looking for its stock rom online. Just want to flash it since it's getting super slow.
I have wiko stairway clone canvas4 A210 i tested on it all stock or custom rom, he work fin, i changed a touch screen and back speaker, now i have a problem, i cant use camera!!! mybe kernel problem, or cosed by disassamly and assamly more than 10 TIME
Hey guys....
The world has moved on and this chipset has a maximum limit of Kitkat 4.4.4 and not further than that as Mediatek hasnt released sources for this chipset otherwise you will see a flood of roms by now.. I have moved on the LYF and enjoying 7.1.2 now.. How about you...
In the meantime, im trying to provide updates of some of the roms.. Lollipop is a dropped idea from most of the source developers.. so we are unable to port it for you...
Greetings...
Kannan
I had the worest experience with LYF phone.
Now i use it as wifi only.
C4 still rock.
My C4 fell in the water bucket. I took of the battery out, put the phone in rice jar for 2 days. Soft hot air pump the phone. Woola my phone still lives.
Hello there!
I just bought the Mi Mix 2, because I wanted to get rid of my iPhone SE, the screen was just too small.
I had a Redmi 4 Prime one year ago, and I was happy with MIUI back then, but I dont like Google and want to keep the Play Services to a bare minimum (comparable to the OpenGapps Pico).
I only need the PlayStore and nothing else.
Several years ago I was a huge fan of Cyanogenmod and used it on every Phone I ever owned. Though Lineage is available for the Mix 2, I didnt like the stock Android versions which came after Kitkat. I never really got familiar with it, especially after the HoloBlue design was gone and Google tried to make the OS look more mainstream.
MIUI was very pleasant to use, but even with the xiaomi.eu ROM Google is still present with all of the services.
What ROM would you recommend for me? And which ROM are you using and why?
Sorry for my bad english!
Regards
Edit: One more question: The Redmi 4 Prime had a weird audio recording bug, where audio in videos or other recording was barely hearable and very noisy. After flashing the AICP ROM of the user unterwelt (amazing work, btw), the issue was completely gone. Back to the official MIUI ROM and it was there again. So I assume its a problem caused either by Xiaomi/MIUI or some Google services?
Anyway, is this an issue with the Mix 2? I read somewhere that it has very bad recording quality, which would be bad, because I use my phone as a recording device when Im at my way to work and so on (Im kind of a "part time" musician).

Any custom ROM is going to give u what u want, just try them. What's good for one person might not be good for u
Try MiuiPro...I flash it on several Xiaomi and everybody are happy about it
OmniRom with skizo Kernel, good battery life.
LOS and RR (based on LOS of course) have a very poor battery life atm

I'm running Lineage OS and my battery life is awesome.
8 hours screen time / 36 hours total runtime per charge.
What kind of battery life are you getting?

The official site is in Russia (the hacking, malware and ransomware capital of the world) and there is very little information about MIUIPro that I can find other than people saying its good. How is it good compared to stock or other ROMs?
I think I will give the .eu ROM a shot then, since I like MIUI. Is there any possibility to turn the Google services off? I only need the PlayStore.
Also, what about the recording sound?
Finally received my MIX 2. Looks and feels really nice!
Sadly, I have to wait for 72 hours to unlock the phone. I dont know why, because I registrated the device, but I guess its some problem with the unlock app.
Anyway, I am stuck with the global ROM for so long now. Is it worth it to "upgrade" to another rom? Because global seems to run well so far, and I guess MIUI10 is already around the corner.

That's just Xiaomi policy. Wait it out and then unlock your device.
I tried LOS and found it buggy and also significantly less smooth and responsive than MIUI 9--but for some people having stock Android is apparently worth the drop off in phone performance. There's not much risk in trying custom ROMs with this phone because it's very easy to go back to stock using the MI Flash tool.
I've been a fan of this ROM for since forever and I have followed it since my Galaxy S2, I know that they've came and gone several times but there is recent activity out there work on Twitter ... Do you guys see this as a foreseeable future for aospa ?? Do you think our device would be officially supported by the devs? I recall aospa being one of the most battery friendly yet fluid ROMs out there, and I think it would be a great return for them if they did ever come back... What do you guys think, what's your input?

If PA were ever to come back to where they were in the Kitkat days, I'd get back into custom ROMs. Been happy on stock the past couple years but PA was one of the best phone experiences I've had.
Hi a total total newbie here I have no clue but I love to learn.
I really like the ElementalX kernel for my htc one m7 mainly because of the overclocking and undervolting for battery consumption and the doubletaptowake with some sound enhancement. I custom rommed lineage os 16.0(stable) Android 9.0 from the site and I tried installing ElementalX kernel 14.12 sense which was for Android 4.4.2 sense UI 6 and the newer ElementalX-m7-22.4-Sense, obviously it wouldn't work because none of them are built for Android 9 and it would just bootloop all over again. The phone is rooted and I did download some root-needed apps kernel editors but you know how they go.. I don't wanna go back to stock because of the newer apps I'm gonna miss out on
Is there any hope for me to find a kernel that sort of supports my purpose? Thanks in advance
I honestly can’t answer your question. Just wanted to say I’m impressed you’re still rocking the m7 after all these years.
Was an awesome phone when it came out, except for the battery consumption; and then Verizon dragging their feet, and eventually refusing to release official updates.
I eventually turned to custom ROMs for a couple years before I eventually moved onto an iPhone 5c. May not have been able to customize it. But, I knew Apple would keep the updates flowing for a while.
Good luck in your quest.

I knowww tbh I'm still using the LG V20, the Samsung note edge and the Nexus 6(which I still love to this day and wouldn't sell) from time to time. The main problem I have with those devices was the battery life.. "was" as in not anymore since I changed the battery and they're workhorses back again but the m7 is a hurtful little thing. I opened it once and immediately regretted unscrewing the first screw. It's a mess and hardware alternation is my current options . Anyways thank you for your input. I appreciate it. I might as well downgrade to lineage OS 14.1 Android 7 and there's a custom kernel for the same LIOS14.1 which might be compatible.
