Question Official Mi Pad 5 keyboard stuck on CAPS - Xiaomi Mi Pad 5

Hi all, I noticed this the other day, my Mi Pad 5 keyboard is stuck on CAPS. It doesn't matter whether the light on the Caps Lock button is on or off, the input registers as CAPS. If I try typing a number off the top row, it registers the corresponding symbol, e.g. if I type "2", it comes up as "@". In addition the Space Bar doesn't work.
I've detached and reattached the keyboard, and rebooted the Pad 5.
Any other ideas? It can't be just me, right?

I've tried a different (Bluetooth) keyboard and that works fine. This is the one that attaches via the pogo pins. Maybe I've hit a combination of keys which has put it into Caps Lock mode, but then the Caps Lock light would be on permanently I think?

yes it would be maybe check the pogo pins maybe there is something wrong for example it being dirty or something maybe clean the pins on the keyboard itself

It's weird. Cleaned the pins on the keyboard and the tablet. For a while I could get lower case letters if I had Caps Lock on, but I still couldn't get numbers. Now it's reverted so I can't get lower case letters. At no stage was I able to get the Space Bar to work. I think I'll reset it and see how that goes.

[Q] Problem with keyboard

Hi all.
I'm having an 'interesting' keyboard problem/bug. It seems as if the keyboard is too 'high up' on the screen (as in z-position).
In the attached picture the blue 'cursor' thing (1) that you drag to move the cursor around sits under the keyboard meaning you can't drag it.
Secondly, when holding down the '.' (2) key to bring up the symbols quick menu, it seems to appear under the main keyboard. I'm only guessing this because the main keyboard dims and the symbols are still entered if you randomly touch the screen near where they should be.
So far my only solution is to reboot.
Any ideas?

Yes the hiding keyboard problem happens to me as well but it's so rare, I didn't really give it much thought. Just use the Sym keyboard.

[Q] Dodgy touch buttons

Im having some trouble with my physical touch buttons. They seem to stop working every now and then. If I bash the phone on my hand a few times they usually start working again. I'm guessing theres a dodgy connection inside somewhere thats causing this. There are no other symptoms though so it's very specific to the touch buttons.
I've opened the phone to have a look if anything looked loose but on the face of it everything seemed fine. However, I wasn't sure which ribbon was for what and couldnt find a diagram anywhere on the net after a quick search. Can anyone help identify what all the connections are for? In the picture I have circled the 5 main connections. So far I have figured the following:
Black circle - touch for screen
yellow circle - metal docking contacts on back of phone
red circle - not sure possibly speaker/touch buttons?
blue circle - not sure possibly speaker/touch button?
green circle - vibration motor?
If you know better please correct me. I think the touch buttons either work off the screen touch responsive connection (black circle) or the red or blue circles but cant quite figure out which.
Thanks
i know the gold colored part on the bottom left of the phone is the digitizer connector, is the rest of the screen working? if not make sure the aforementioned connector is pressed down securely

Everything else is working fine, no issues with screen whatsoever, its just the touch buttons. Thats why im trying to figure which connector does the touch buttons

[Q] Lock Screen Keyboard Gone: Can't Enter Password

I just updated Swiftkey, and then the back softkey stopped working, so I rebooted. Now there is no keyboard on my lock screen, and just a gray keyboard-sized rectangle with a microphone icon in the middle. So I can't type my password to log in! And I tried saying my password, but it is not reacting at all to anything I say even though it seems to be awaiting voice input.
Rebooted into safe mode, but that didn't help.
Any ideas short of factory restore?
plug otg

maybe you can plug your otg keyboard and unlock with it.
It should work, because I can use otg mouse to unlock pattern screen lock.

Black screen help??

My screen has failed. Started with a black area covering 80% of the screen, centered on the middle (of course) - with a ring of working pixels around the outside. Over a short time, the working pixels declined, until there are literally none left now.
The phone still works. Everything but the screen. I can start it, shut it down, and it connects to wifi. My problem is I want to access the phone before I return to OnePlus for repair (still in-warranty). There are lots of files I want to access.
When I attach a USB-C to HDMI cable to my monitor, I see some sort of lock screen thats not part of the phone normally. The in-screen fingerprint sensor in this case is a MAJOR drawback - if it was the old touch one on the back, I could unlock and control the phone on my monitor. Without a functioning screen, the backlight for fingerprint is useless.
So I need to figure out where the keypad entries are. Could somebody send me a couple of screenshots of the first screen after you press the power button to wake it up? and then another screen shot of the keypad after you swipe up to get to the keycode entry?
I'm virtually certain if I can unlock the phone before I attach to USB-C to HDMI, I will be able to access the phone.
Thank you so much! Yes - the tactile response works, so I just need to know what the screen looks like at those several crucial moments before the keypad code is entered after the fingerprint.

Thank you very much! I was able to get into my phone. The USB-C to HDMI works fine - as long as the phone is not locked. With the screenshot I was able to get in, make my backups, and restore to factory default for shipment to OnePlus. Appreciated...

Anyway to disable Sharkspace?

So im having issues with my blackshark randomly turning on sharkspace even thought the switch is off and wont go back to normal mode if i flip the switch
is there anyway i can turn it off permanently? and does applying custom rom can render the sharkspace useless?
I AM in the same thing. I Buy it on march 2021 and now on january 2022 it happens to me.
The other day I was using the magnetic charger on my BS3 and when the connector was near the shark switch the launcher pooped itself for a second. So it's possible that the magnet that enable the launcher it's loose in your device. Try using a little magnet to see if that fix the problem

I'll buy the magnet, try it at home and tell you. one thing, can you try something? Can you activate your Shark space, then go to settings without closing it and check on the home screen option if it is set as the default launcher? I want to know if when activating the Shark Space it becomes like a launcher.

I can not believe it. I simply brought the magnet close to the button. I had accidentally entered Clash royale to open a chest and when I hit exit the game I was already on the normal home screen, the system asked me what screen I wanted and I put the one on it. then I entered to assign the default launcher and it already allowed me to put the system launcher. Bringing the magnet closer to the button worked!

Thank you so much for sharing. It worked on my phone today.
There is a manual override for that instance, sharkspace won't turn off even turning off the button. Hold the lock button, when power off popups tap and hold the power off another popup will appear and hit continue. Now, upon holding the lock button there should be another option to turn off the shark space.
