Im having some trouble with my physical touch buttons. They seem to stop working every now and then. If I bash the phone on my hand a few times they usually start working again. I'm guessing theres a dodgy connection inside somewhere thats causing this. There are no other symptoms though so it's very specific to the touch buttons.
I've opened the phone to have a look if anything looked loose but on the face of it everything seemed fine. However, I wasn't sure which ribbon was for what and couldnt find a diagram anywhere on the net after a quick search. Can anyone help identify what all the connections are for? In the picture I have circled the 5 main connections. So far I have figured the following:
Black circle - touch for screen
yellow circle - metal docking contacts on back of phone
red circle - not sure possibly speaker/touch buttons?
blue circle - not sure possibly speaker/touch button?
green circle - vibration motor?
If you know better please correct me. I think the touch buttons either work off the screen touch responsive connection (black circle) or the red or blue circles but cant quite figure out which.
Thanks
i know the gold colored part on the bottom left of the phone is the digitizer connector, is the rest of the screen working? if not make sure the aforementioned connector is pressed down securely

Everything else is working fine, no issues with screen whatsoever, its just the touch buttons. Thats why im trying to figure which connector does the touch buttons

Its for sure a hardware problem. Also the Red botton reacts only by hard push. has anyone else had sucha a prob with his BA? Should I open the device and try to clear the buttons area? Any advice how to repair it would be helpful

I am having a similar problem. The down dpad only responds when extreme force is given to it; along with the row of horizontal pill buttons (ok, ie, mail, today). i took it apart and tried reseating everything to no avail. i also have a new problem, my display is fuzzing up or showing up in 256 color

There was a chap on here (fluffcat1) that sold parts for the m2000. I have bought from him and can recommended.
You can buy just the new button pad for the bottom of the pda for less than £10 and then just make sure you have the correct TORQ screwdrivers to open it up.
Matt
the down button on the keypad sucks on all b.a's
i was lucky enough to get a good one that theres barely anything wrong with.
the only problem is wen i press down and right (to get the 45 degree south west direction) it doesnt work, or its VERY hard to get to work, but thats it.
i think its just that the b.a down button sux, probly a design fault.
also check maybe a bit of dirt lodged itself under there. this happened to me once andi've only had my b.a for 2 weeks!
gah they shud really put more time into designing these things, i'll never forget my v3 <3
here is my problem..
at first.. my touch screen starts to act weird.. the pointer does not go to its proper place. =(... tried calibrating it but it does not work
then... the touch screen does not work.. i have to hold it in a certain way for it to work..
then.. it shows a white screen, and sometimes.. its looks fuzzy but i can hold it weirdly like pressing the side of the screen really hard so that it would come back... and then it works again but when I slide the keyboard... the same problem would occur and would stay that way for 5 minutes..
then.. the touch screen does not work at all
then.. the screen is white and does not come back
NOW!!! HOW CAN I FIX IT.. Is there a way or I can call my BA garbage.. but i really really want it to be fixed
you can download the htc service manual from my signature. it contains all the information necessary for an attempt to fix hardware issues. you should check the flex cable connections, check for dirt and anything that puts pressure on the display or its connections.
thanks.. =D
It seems that there are some dead sensors or something in the upper right hand corner of my screen.
I'm getting these 'phantom touches' that keep pressing whatever is in that corner.
I'm wondering if there is any way to turn this part of the screen off, so it doesn't continue to register touches that aren't actually happening.
Does anyone have a solution for this issue?

No software solution
it's a hardware problem ..Your touch screen needs to be replaced
Hi Guys,
Everytime I press the top part of my screen (front cam, ear piece part) the screen flickers and sometimes it shows a horizontal line anywhere on the screen and it only happens when i press the top part screen.
I ran a LCD test using #*808# and the screen is fine. It's just happens when pressing the top part of the screen. Even when I'm in the recovery mode and pressing the top part of the screen it still shows lines and flickers.
You guys think it's a hardware problem already that something might be loose connection on the motherboard?
Tia guys!

It looks like a hardware issue.
It started with it being hard to press 1,q etc keys on keyboard. When I enter developer settings and enable pointer location ,I realise it doesn't register at least hundred pixels on entire left and right sides of screen. Quite annoying. My gf phone is slowly going that way also.. any ideas apart from replace screen or phone? Also around entire edges of phone it looks like screen is delaminating,i.e. a lines and checkers pattern shows....
I have the same problem. It started with a crack, when the phone was bent too much (see picture).
But the unresponsive left edge started later, after I had fixed the phone in a car cradle. Probably the cradle held the phone too hard.
I noticed it because I was using gesture navigation and I couldn't use the back gesture when swiping from the left side. The right side still works in general, but in some apps I have a problem on the top right edge with the 3 button menu button.
You can check your touchscreen in the hardware test menu (*#*#6484#*#*) with test 8 Touchpanel edge.
Also test 7 ITO fails for my device.
Sorry, I have no advice for your problem.
My personal solution for this problem is: I will dump this device, which had hardware problems right from the start (like bluetooth disturbing WLAN) and lots of software bugs, which Xiaomi is not willing to fix. Instead a Pixel 4a will be my daily driver in a few weeks.
My problems also started after bending the entire phone.. was looking at replacement lcd and frames but in reviews they seem to not have proximity sensor..maybe just get a new phone and have this as backup..
