Hi guys,
Actually the battery life of my Mi 5s doesn't satisfy me.
Previously I owned a Mi 5, and battery life was better!
And this is uncommon, because Mi 5s should have a better battery life than Mi 5.
Also, phone is often hot.
I've tried many roms, nothing changed.
Anyone with the same issue?
In the beginning this was also the case for me, but after flashing newer firmware versions it got way better.
I think no because my friends buy new mi5s and he have very good battery life but my mi5 very bad battery life.
I have 4-5 s.o.t daily usage
My friend mi5s 6-7 s.o.t daily usage ( he and me same usage ) whatsapp browser camera ...

Which firmware are you using now? How about of Sot?
I don't know, sometimes I think my battery could be faulty.
Not sure about SOT, but it lasts the entire day without a problem under medium use with the screen on more often than most people do. So it will indeed be around the 7 hours like bugra333 says. I use the latest official LineageOS build.
The firmware is here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72580452&postcount=663
/EDIT: Do also check if some app isn't draining your battery too much. Some bugs may cause this behaviour.
And with Miui do you have similar results?
Worse than currently, but not quite sure by how much.
Anyone else?
i have over 6 hours of sot on xiaomi eu rom, official miui, rr and mokee. official los gives just over 5 hours for me
My mi5s is the only Xiaomi to ever disappoint. The battery is so bad that i never take the phone out of the house. I use it mostly to run the incredible Xiaomi vacuum. As others have noted, the phone runs abnormally hot and that is a huge waste of power. Source of the power loss is unknown. Also, there isn't a Sim card in the phone, so it's not the radio. Global 9.5.2 makes no difference.
Hello,
The battery of my OnePlus 3 has to be fully charged to survive a day. I want to keep my phone as performance, camera and display are still fine and new phones have so many downsides somehow (no headphone jack, weird notch situation, high SAR values, oversized,..).
What are my options to extend the battery life?
- replace the battery with a OnePlus 3T battery?
- which custom kernel or custom rom do you suggest?
- other suggestions?
Currently i am on the Pie community beta. Battery life has gotten worse when i updated, i can tell you that. My personal preference for the next OS would be a privacy-focused OS.

Have a go at the skydragon ROM it's normally very good with battery but for more privacy focused you'd have to flash lineage with no gapps and use alternatives from f-droid or yalp store for things like playstore and messaging etc...

Thank you for the answer. I've heard of both Skydragon and Lineage OS. I was hoping for something like LineageOS with a battery-saving Kernel (I've no experience with flashing kernels).

@orawnnd
I wouldn't advise a 3T battery. It may create issues. In addition, the 3 and 3T batteries were likely manufactured a couple of years back and sitting on the shelf all this time. So they may deteriorate fast. Still a better option than going for 3rd party batteries.
Regarding ROMs, the OOS Pie Open Beta has been excellent in all respects, including battery drain, for me. May be a clean flash and not restoring apps will make a difference for you.
As for SkyDragon, I was using it for sometime and it was also excellent in all respects. But, of late, there are complaints of unexplained battery drain in its thread, not for all but atleast for some. I have not tested LOS in my OP3 though I run it in my N4. Again excellent results.

This is true. Settled on LOS after trying all other roms, they had explainable battery drain issues with time. Even tho, I don't see a plus in battery saving on LOS. Battery performance is "OKAY". LOS is just smoother.
IMHO stock is the best for battery. :good:
I recommend you install accubattery from the play store( free app) and check your battery health before you decide on a battery change. It also lets you see how much the battery has degraded over time. My OnePlus 3 is currently at 86% life

1. Replacing OP3 with OP3T battery won't work. This is debunked already - don't try it.
2. Sadly your only options:
a) Replace battery with new one.
b) Flash custom ROM onto your phone. Read comments about latest build on every ROM thread - people point out things like battery life etc. e.g. SkyDragon latest build seems to have battery issues (people reporting it in comments).
c) Power bank. Really. Things like this is also an option, but I don't see any on ebay for OP3.
I'm ordered a battery for my op3,this battery it's for op3t,in about a month I will tell you how it's it.

Sorry for the late response, the phone with the new
battery not booting.
I'm on official pie rom from OnePlus.
Have you got anything important on the device
use any custom kernel that supports cpu frequency changing. Underclock cpu to 60%(bit cluster have huge impact on battery) when you dont heavily use your op3/t . You will notice significant battery improvement.
My Mate 20 X AL00 updated successfully to EMUI 11 (close to 3 GB) and the initial impressions are good.
November 2020 security patch.
New animation for charging, icons, windows closing-opening, etc.
UI is smoother and fluidic than previous.
Loud Speaker output almost similar to Stock EMUI 9
Battery backup similar to previous.
Petal Search is awesome.
MeeTime
Will post more after using for few days.
Cheers!

Yes I am using stock launcher and I am happy with it.
Yep I got it on my AL00 using it in US on T-Mobile and ATT but was on my home wifi used Support app to do update. Still no way to set 3rd party launchers as default.
hey guys, received the update notification for 11.0.0.125 yesterday here in Singapore. Sporting a chinese EVR-AL00 8/256 GB model and was on EMUI 10.1.0.167 previously. Here the details:
So far so good, some of the settings are re-arranged and look different, new animations and vibration patterns, Security Patch got updated, as well as the Kernel version (didnt check previous Baseband but im assuming that got also updated). Lets see how battery life is!

Hi jbmc,
No offense but I cannot believe you get 17 hours SOT. Not calling you a liar. Probably accubattery is not reading your phone correctly.
I have the L29 from singapore - although I live in USA with both singapore and USA sim cards. Do you know when my phone will get the 11 update?

haha i get it, I also had to check my actual usage and the screen active time shown in the settings under battery, it actually pans out! after roughly 8.5 hours SOT i was at around 50% battery left.
as for the EMUI 11 rollout, really no idea my friend. it seems the timings of the regional specific rollouts are all over the place. only thing i can say is that it will surely come in general tho, chinese models usually get served first before the international counterparts-

dunno what to tell u man *lol*
but im serious, ive always been one to optimize the heck out of the system to maximize SOT
i.e. settings permissions for ALL apps depending on how i use them, restricting background data as much as possible, using wifi wherever available, tuning in min usable screen brightness, setting battery optimization for all apps, switching off all sensors whenever i dont actively use them (i.e. NFC, BT, GPS, etc.), using apps like Hibernator Pro or Greenify to hibernate all unused apps, using privacy focused browser like DuckDuckGo to save on unnecessary data, using 3G instead of 4G/LTE to minimize energy consumption....
every little bit helps and then u end up with awesome SOT

Ok youre confusing because before you agreed with me that it was not possible to get sot of 17 hours on android 11. Now youre saying it is possible but only by turning off unneeded background data, wifi, apps etc., not through android 11 alone. You also didnt confirm that you had android 11 installed.
Even if you took all of the steps you mentioned you cannot go from 8 - 9 SOT and double it to 17. Thats impossible.

ah no, u misunderstood mate, i was agreeing with you that it initially seemed too good to be true, but after checking SOT via different sources i was able to confirm those runtimes
I have EMUI 11 / Android 10 installed, Android 11 is not available on the Mate 20 series.
I was never down to 8-9 hours SOT to begin with...unless maybe at max screen brightness and using Maps with High perf. GPS on 4G mobile data all day long haha.
Before on EMUI 10.1 with Greenify and CM Browser I was at around 12-14h SOT, now im more in the range of 16-18h on EMUI 11 with Hibernator Pro and DuckDuckGo Browser.
Hope that clears things up!

Hi there,
I have android 10/emui 10.1 on my mate 20x. But you say you have emui 11 but that android 11 isnt available for the mate series. I think you made a typo.
You said you had greenify on 10.1. But how can that be if you cant root the 20x on that version?
With hibernator pro what apps and system services did you freeze? I will do the same with mine.
Its just not possible to get double the SOT on the 20x when max SOT is 10 hours. Hope youre not trolling. Something isnt right here.

Not a typo. EMUI is NOT equal to Android. EMUI 11 for the Mate 20 series is based on Android 10, NOT 11.
You can use Greenify in non-root mode, no problem.
I can provide a list of apps and services on freeze for Hibernator Pro, just give me a bit of time.
Not trolling. Who says max SOT is 10 hours? my current values are in the range of 14-18 hours depending on usage and averaging roughly 15-16.
Edit: I attached a screenshot of Battery usage for the past 7 days as shown in Accubattery. At 5.4%/h for screen on, you would get a total of 100/5.4 = 18.5h of SOT. But of course, that is only if you use a whole battery charge with screen on. So you need to add in the energy consumption during screen off: 300% screen on + 45% screen off = 345 % total.
55h55m total SOT divided by 345% = 16.2h SOT per 100% charge on average.
Btw, when I compare the SOT times measured in Accubattery with the values shown under settings / Battery, they check out, both show the same values (at worst only a few minutes apart).
Also attached preference files for Hibernator Pro, hope this helps!

Hi there,
I dont know if you have emui 11 so I cant confirm if you do or not. If you do indeed have emui 11 theres no way in hell huawei figured out how to double SOT on it since they werent able to before in 10.
Average SOT on 20x is 9 - 11 hours. Not double that. I've been reading this forum on the 20x for a year. I've never come across anyone claiming SOT greater than 12 hours. Never.
Is it possible to install your prefs into my Hibernator Pro?
If Hibernator Pro does that same job as greenify why use greenify at all? Which apps did you freeze in greenify?

yes i have EMUI 11 installed. never said they "doubled" SOT. as mentioned before, on EMUI 10.1 i was at roughly 12-14h SOT, now its about 2-4h more depending on usage. thats not double
tbh, i never fell down to 9-11h SOT unless in crazy circumstances (i.e. 100% screen brightness the whole time). so not sure how others are using their phone...
in any case, i cant do more than show u proof via screenshots. if you dont believe me, thats fine, not forcing anyone to do anything here. just providing info
should be possible by importing the preferences via settings i uploaded in Hibernator Pro. just double check the exception and hibernation lists afterwards, since i probably have different user apps installed than you. system apps should be almost identical though.
I had been using Greenify for years now, mostly on rooted phones. Since im not rooted on the 20x i used it in non-rooted mode. i wasnt aware of hibernator pro until just recently, so i just gave it a try and it works like a charm!

Ok I'm confused again by your statement. You cannot get 12 - 14h SOT when everyone gets an average of 8 - 10h SOT. Your claim of 17h SOT is roughly double what everyone gets. So in essence you did say "doubling."
Then you outlandishly claim that android 11 isnt available for the mate series which is NOT true. Why do you say that when websites say it will be available for the 20x? Wish you would explain this with proof.
Its not that we dont want to believe you its that we cant believe you because your claims clearly fall far outside the norm. Post as many pics as you want as proof but those are not impossible to alter.
Hey everyone, as I said! This is my E2E review based on my intensive testing for the past 5 days!
1. Performance:
Pretty much the same, and in certain circumstances, the performance on games is much more fluid compared to the previous version of the OS.
2. Battery:
BEST! Getting 6 hours of SOT (Refresh rate 120hz always) and 1440p. Usage - FB, Watsapp, telegram, gaming (Asphalt, PES, Genshin impact, etc.,)
3. BUGS / ISSUES
A lot! : "D Seriously! The first preliminary update was such dumb! loads and loads of issues - Phone gets changes during call, need to hard reset in some situations. Music player issues, face unlocking issues. But, most of the issues were addressed on the next update (730MB) and it's alright now. Still, there is a wired notification bug with hanging icons.

Did check some benchmarks after the update , in antutu it cross 86k . Seems like they really improved with the update. The issues i felt is that, lock icon is missing on lockscren, gallery , navbar has dpi issues( this is only in QHD. So i feel they need to align things in QHD resolution). Other than that build is stable AF, i dint face music player bug, notification bug. I dont use faceunlock so no idea. Very nice, they head heard our feedbacks. They even replied regarding gcam. Seems like oplus is not fully oppo. I think in a month or so, if they go in this pace, oos 12 will be a solid update for 9 series.

I can't believe you don't see font size issues. It seems you use your phone with standard dpi. I pteffer dpi 500. The problem is some apps and parts of the system ignore dpi settings and still ugly large font is used. And dpi set in developer settings is reverted to default after reboot.
I can't understand how anybody can use so large screen with default dpi, unless you are blind and you need large text.
It's blocking issue in my case. I will never install system where I can't set small fonts. It's actually built in Android feature, shame they wish to break it. Either they fix that (I don't think so), or I will stay on Oxygen 11 and will eventually use LineageOS if I decide to switch to Android 12
At this point and given what oneplus has done to Android 12, I will seriously be considering if Oneplus is still a brand I want to buy, CrapOOS12 is a disaster
I've been on custom ROM's ever since I bought T-Mobile Exhibit 4g used up until 8 pro & 9 pro.
Oxygen Os with a few tweaks had everything I needed, and now with no Oxygen Os anymore
I guess back to custom ROMs and hopefully source will stay updated.
So I've used MIUI, both global and xiaomi.eu, and also CrDroid custom ROM, all roms in android 11 and 12. What I've observed is that idle power consumption is higher on Android 12, I've used Accubattery but also other apps like Charge Meter to measure current used, and there is around 25-30mA more power used by Android 12, so when I'm doing nothing I can see around 90mA on Android 11 and 120mA on Android 12, both in MIUI or custom ROM, so maybe it's something to do with Android 12 itself, or maybe the firmware used by Xiaomi since Android 12 is just worse.
