Question Z FOLD 3 INNER SCREEN CRACKS.. - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3

So, recently my z fold 3 developed some small Cracks on the inner screen along the "CREASE". It's more than a year of use and now it's not under the warranty. It seems to be a common problem as these folding screen have a limited lifespan..
What to do..??

Are you unfold in temperatures below 0 degrees celcius?
If you are cracks so only possible is replace screen, use like this for full damage or sold like broken and buy new device.

Just check it's not the factory fitted screen protector that's not cracked. Mine cracked after ~12 months.
This can be removed and the screen has been fine since (>2 months now)

No man.. I removed the screen protector long time ago when the factory fitted screen protector started to intake bubbles along the crease.. after using it for a while I removed the screen protector and now I can discover new tiny cracks in every 2-3 days... it feels the screen will break in half if this continues..

You removed the Screen Protector and now you complain, that the screen developped some cracks? and now you want to know, what to do?
It's easy: Send it in for repair or dispose your device and buy a new one ...

Thats a shame. I agree with the post above, I think cold temperatures make them more susceptible.

You HAVE TO when it bubbles up, because it traps dirt and actually cracks the screen early. The screen protector doesn't protect from cracks forming in the crease of the display.

Samsung under fire as Galaxy Z Fold 3 screens crack for no reason at all after warranty expires
Multiple Galaxy Z Fold 3 users are complaining about a cracked internal display even though their phone sustained no trauma.
www.phonearena.com
Bigger case

My inner screen protector went bonkers about a week or two before 1 yr warranty expired last August....contacted Samsung and they sent me to a place to have a new screen protector installed (no fee). The person didn't do a good job, had a few bubbles.....I eventually traded it in to Samsung at the time the ZFold4 came out. Hope inner screen protector lasts longer.

The same crack happened to me as well.
I had to remove the screen protector after 6 month because it started to peel at the crease, trapping dust under it.
Two month after warranty expired, the screen cracked internally in the middle.
Our local samsung dealer claim that I broke the screen though no damage can be seen.
Someone should put a class action against samsung. It seems that everyone who purchased a samsung foldable device, will join the claim.

One X screen very prone to scratches

Hi,
I have got my One X for about 2 weeks now and there are multiple micro-scrathes on its screen already... (some of them are covering half of the screen). They are only visible when the screen is off and under certain lighting and angle, but it is quite annoying - I am worried how would the screen look like after a couple of months.
I am very careful with the phone and never keep it in my pocket with any other items. I have got HD2 previously for almost 3 years and with the same usage pattern its screen hasn't got a single scratch.
I suspect it is not Gorilla Glass that gets scratched, but some kind of coating (oleophobic?) on the screen.
Is your experience similar?
Dude there something with the screen. Its sh1t. i dropped the phone yesterday from my bed and on the right top of the screen there is a brake on the screen and some scratches too.I had Galaxy S and i dropped it several times and from higher position than bed and non a single scratch i dont mention the ****ing brake.i am already thinking replacing the digitizer .its a fuking new phone its not that i have problem with the broke as long my lcd is working but u know what i mean
was the swearing necessary?
replacing the glass is hard- the screen and lcd are apparently attached and spare parts are expensive, let alone the effort required to disassemble the phone (as the m/board etc are attached directly to the screen)
the screen is also laminated - maybe this coating is getting scratched? i don't know exactly what laminated glass is, just what it achieves.
Its necessary when they say Gorilla Glass should be Gorilla Glass. Its the same screen as galaxy s.Anyway i am afraid removing the digitizer would damage the LCD too by accident and the problem will be larger. so i am not quite ready to do that.i can live with a scratch
Sorry to hear your dramas with the phone.
I have mine now over a month.
I use a flip leather case now, but had none for the first two weeks and I use my phone a lot but with no screen protector and I don't have any scratches on it.
You must have hit something with sharp edges hard.
I had a SG2, never had a screen protector and was exposed as I didn't use a flip case. It never got any major scrathes, but hundreds of tiny ones that could be scene in the right light only.
This is a much better glass in my opinion.
Hope you are able to fix yours without too much trouble.
Cheers.
I too have many minor scratches, it does not hinder its use so I'm alright with it, I was but no longer using the HTC branded flip case that phones4u have me when I upgraded. Offers no protection and is clumsy to answer phone quickly lol.

I have noticed these micro-scratches too (funny I googled HTC One X micro scratches and this page came up). I haven't dropped my phone and I haven't put it in my pocket with anything else. At first I only noticed them in the sun, but now I can see them indoors as well. You have to turn the display off and hold it at an angle to see the scratches, but they are there.
Today i returned mine after 2 weeks it had a scratch in the midle on the screen and it was visible when the screen is off...
I hope they replace it i dont whant to have a scrached phone that costs 700 euro and is suposed to have gorila glass.
And i havent droped it or put it in my pocket with other items.

Are you sure they are scratches? I noticed something similar on my HOX the other day and thought I'd scratched it at first, but the whole screen seems to have that pattern and it's far too regular to be tiny scratches. I think it's part of the screen (digitiser?) as scratches wouldn't look so regular.
Think I have a few on mine now...not gonna get too beet up about it, it's only a phone and will probably be swapping it for something else in six months..... Which will probably get scratched too, lol.

Wow I'm really surprised when I read these posts
My story I had my one x in my pocket no case or screen protector and was in a rush for the bus and just chucked my coins in my pocket not realising it was the same pocket my one x was in and ran for the bus only when I went to get my coins that I realised my phone had been bouncing around with the coins in my pocket like a washing machine while I was running
Subsequently I almost scrapped myself thinking I've commited the ultimate sin I expected to see a crapload of scratches
To my disbelief besides a couple of light scratches on the polycarbonate back that just rubbed off the screen was fine I remember think what?! That can't be right and for the whole bus ride I was furiously examining the screen, holding it on an angle in the light to try and detect even the most minor of scratches and still found nothing ever since then I couldn't stop praising the screen on the one x
The camera lens was also scratch free but I'm thinking that was just sheer luck

Guys I am forced to believe HTC isn't using Gorilla Glass on all models.. I had the Thailand version and it scratched crazy easy. I now have the HTC ONE XL and i can take a key to it..
I have two minor (about 5mm in length) hairline scratches on mine. Inspected my screen at an angle with powerful flashlight just to barely notice them after having read this thread.
I'm not going to be bothered by those, but I am going to do an occasional inspection and if I notice a trend I'll put a screen protector on.
I have some screen protectors for the phone and even applied one, but tore it off immediately because the bare screen is much better to the touch and does not have that stupid rainbow effect the protector had.

maybe some problem from there not using gorila glass.
Get a screen-protector ! I did as soon as I got my phone, why risk it

Yeah, these are definitively legitimate scrathes, very irregular, there is no pattern.
They seem to get worse and worse every day...
A $2 dollar screen protector would have prevented this. Just saying.

I am tired of reading about problems in HOX. I start to think I have another phone no one x. I have it 1.5 month. I have no problem at all.
I am not using screen protector and case. Just a poutch.
Twice I had drop it from the base of the car and hit the screen in different places. No problem.
Usually I put in my pocket without the poutch. There is no scratch on the screen and polycarbonate.

Replacing outer screen glass?

Since I got my new Note 2 LTE last week, I've got very thin scratches on my screen, which is only visible under direct sunlight - I ordered for a screen protector way before I ordered my phone but my phone came very early in the post. Since these scratches are peeing me off, is they any way I can get the glass replaced? One that's scratch free and genuine?
All help would be greatly appreciated!
PS - Is it possible these scratches occurred through the manufacturing process?
Thank you!
Regards,
Dave
The stylus could have done it?
Yeah, possibly! I mean the scratches are extremely thin. I knew I shouldn't have used that damn stylus 'till I got a screen protector! I think that particles that are able to scratch we're carried by the stylus and left a nasty scratch
After seeing the various scratch tests on youtube, with keys and knives and whatnot(with hardly any scratches),its hard to imagine that stylus couldve done that.
Sand,maybe.
Get it replaced for another reason, and buy a screen protector for that one?
Well, not sure. I think this Gorilla Glass we get on the Note 2 is bu**s***. I've got all these tiny scratches on my phone, after a week; my phone has always been on a table or in my pants pockets with nothing else in the same pocket, I don't get how the hell it got scratched, just noticed it today and was pissed at work lol.

Why would you not use one

I dont know what you guys are doing. I use my pen, I walk on the beach daily and have the phone in my pocket. I take it out on the production floor at work and dont have any scratchs on my display. Even after 9 months of doing the same with my Note1, I dont have any scratches.
If you're really paranoid, you could research the cost it would cost to get your screen replaced, say $100.
Sell it for $50 cheaper than RRP. Then buy a new one. Profit I guess.

I don't think it's the stylus or your handling as I have been using my note 2 for a few weeks now without a screen protector and I didn't notice any scratches. I don't know the real cause for your scratches but i have to tell you that in the note 2 user guide, there is a statement saying to don't put any screen protector. But it's purely your choice if you want to use it.

Because there is NO need to use any. If sand or dust gonna scratch it then a tiny protector, however pricey it is, won't save it either.
And really, these scratches come as per our usage pattern. I never could able to scratch my Note 1, which I used for 9 months and my S2, which was used for 6+ months. And no, I don't use my device carefully.
But the service center, where I submitted the Note 2 last week, was able to scratch the screen. I told them I'd give them an award.
is the lens glass (outer glass) replacable on the note2 ??on the s3 its quite a hard job to do and i ruined mine while trying.
is it not a combined unit outer glass and touch screen?

thanks for your reply..
i cannot see either in this thread or others a definitive statement if the screen is the same glued to the digitizer type that the s3 has.
i can see the a outer screen can be purchased .. yes .
i am interested if it is the same or not as the s3 as when i heated my s3 up to fix the outer screen on that it buggered it up. and would breath a slight sigh of relief if the note2 outer screen was easier to replace,
forgive my inability to find the part you say i should of read

as I've read and watched on youtube before, I understood that most of the latest LCD/AMOLED/etc (screen) and digitizer(touch panel) of mobile units are glued tightly if not "built" together, hence "further" reducing or providing slimmer waistline for the actual unit,. i believe it can be taken apart but will be a "very" difficult task to do without leaving a mark or worst damaging the LCD/AMOLED screen,. just sharing my thought based on what I've learned on youtube and reviews which mostly is about tearing down new mobile devices,.

Hardware quality of oneplus 3

I bought my oneplus 3 about 6 month ago. About 2/3 months ago, i dropped it once from chair height which had full tempered glass and a thin cover (barely protects phone). When it was dropped, there was only a small dent or crack at the bottom left of tempered glass.Mobile worked fine without problem. I can't remember any other drop incidents with my 6 month of uses.
About 2 days ago i got a touch problem at the lower part of the screen. Especially at the left and right bottom corners where it won't register a touch. The phone was in excellent condition without any dents or scratches. There was not water spilling or any kind of water exposed. I claimed for warranty as it was for 1 year and they changed the display without any problem. Here where i live have local re-seller who sell oneplus products as we don't have official oneplus. All went fine but i am concerned about the built quality of this phone as it's already opened after 6 month. I have bought several phones in past and all worked fine even if i drop or used them for several years. This is the first phone i had problem with.
So i want to ask if any of you have trouble with this phone.Anyone had RMA and repaired their phone? i am thinking of selling it already as it's opened now. There is small rubber thing that is loose inside usb-c port. Usb-c cable plugs in well without any issue but i think rubber thing(maybe grip for water resistence?)will come of after sometime of uses.
i havent experienced any issues with phone so far. also dropped it once out of my hand, all good.
Yeah I had my display replaced and my entire back cover because the volume keys were damaged at the same time the screen shattered. I had it sitting on my lap as I exited my car and it fell face first on the concrete without any case or screen protector. I sent it off and had those items replaced and the phone is like brand new again. I haven't had any problems or quality assurance issues after having two main components replaced. If you sent it to the authorized repair center you have nothing to worry about. They did a great job. Good as new!
They even sent me a free case and left the screen protector on the new screen or installed one for me if it didn't come with one which was really awesome

My replaced screen too came with screen protected pre installed. Screen protector was better than original one when i bought the phone as it doesn't cut side of the screen as it did when i bought the new one. Thinking about applying tempered glass for better protection but the applied screen protector is really good as it covers side of the phone.

Cracked screen replacement

Dear XDA users!
I have bought this phone 2 weeks ago, with the Huawei hard case. I was using my phone with the case installed, with the pre-installed screen protector, as my hardened glass did not arrive yet.
Today I dropped my phone for the first time and the screen got cracked on the top right corner. I guess, no warranty for this, I have to replace the screen by myself. I found several replacement on aliexpress around 80 euros, but I am a bit sceptic on the quality..
Any recommendations, experiences?
Thank you!
You have 30 days to register for HiCare VIP membership status via the app (preinstalled) which gives you a 3 month screen warranty. Once activated, contact Huawei via their website/online chat to take advantage of it. I did this myself. Unfortunately I did more damage than just a broken screen so I wasn't covered and used my insurance, but for just replacing a broken screen you should be covered.
On a side note, the supplied hard case is not fit for purpose in my opinion - Particles of dust and dirt get in behind it and mark the rear housing easily. Unless you take it out daily to clean them out you will almost certainly get the same. My phone was replaced under my insurance and I bought a new case (official Huawei flip case with the view window) and I have had no problems like this since.
Good luck!

General Replace your screen protector if there's air beneath it!

Couple months ago air got between the inner screen protector and the screen along the crease like we've all seen before by other Fold 3 owners.
When I opened the Fold today I noticed a few dead pixels right in the middle of the inner screen. Closing and opening it again apparently killed the whole screen along the crease. The left side is still working, right side is completely dead.
I think the screen suffered a lot when opening the Fold. The screen protector probably moved a little bit every time I opened it and created some kind of pressure to the screen because of the air underneath. At least that's my explanation for it.
So if you've got air beneath your screen protector, replace it before your Fold ends like mine..
When mine started to peel out, I've just taken it out completely. I've assumed it's safer that way, so e.g. sand does not get between the protector and the screen.
It's ca month I'm using it without protector and all works great so far (also there are videos on YT saying that screen presents better without it, but nonetheless I would not remove it unless it peels out)

I read that you loose warranty if you remove it, that's why I didnt do it. Now that I have to send it in I don't want to risk Samsung rejecting it because I peeled it off, you know.
There's also no official store close to where I live where I could have replaced the screen protector.
Taking mine in on Monday as I started to get an air gap at the bottom of the hinge... Hope it holds out until then
I got mine in mint condition from Swappa and it had the inner screen protector with no issues but after about a month of heavy use it started coming up at the bottom in the crease so I just removed it because it was getting hair and pocket lint under it and making the screen look bad. So far months later I've had zero issues.
Considering I got this second hand, I never expected a warranty anyway so if anything were to happen I plan on either trading it in for something else or paying for a repair at a local shop or do it myself (I own my computer repair business and I could probably figure it out)
