Question Does anyone else experience this Samsung display touch glitch? - Samsung Galaxy S21 FE

I purchased a new Galaxy S21 FE a few weeks ago, and I noticed that while the screen is responsive 90-95% of the time, every so often it won’t respond to a tap or swipe, necessitating an extra prod (or a few). Whether it's not pulling down the notification ceiling when swiping, or missing a key (or space bar) when typing despite tapping it, among others.
To reiterate, it’s not a problem with the screen itself because it mostly works fine, but every so often the software interacting with the display that responds to touches seems to glitch. And it’s not connected to any specific part of the screen either. And the phone in general is fast, and there's no lag in animations so it's not a refresh rate issue either.
I should note that a few months ago I returned a new Galaxy A53 with a similar issue. And a relative of mine with the Galaxy A32 5G said she has the same problem as well.
Does anyone else experience this with the S21 FE or any other recent Samsung phones? My 2016 Samsung phone's display/touch has none of these problems, despite being slower in general due to its age, and it being from the Samsung J series.

Anyone?

I come from an s20, and I received the s21 fe this week, and I noticed a little error, in the touch. It's like sometimes he doesn't recognize the fastest or light touch in a few times.

I admit mine does not feel very precise at times. I cannot pinpoint exactly what's going on but it's like it's slippery and I do not have a great accuracy on it. It did have a problem with the screen jumping up and down when scrolling sometimes but with the recent updates, this issue seems to be solved. However I still feel it is not precise or smooth as a S21 Ultra for example.

Please report it in the Samsung members app. With more people reporting these bugs, there's more of a chance that a patch will be released.

Yes, me. Got this phone a few weeks ago and have noticed it randomly not responding to a tap, pinch or swipe. Exact symptoms as you.
Wondered if this was a known issue with Samsungs or not and whether there was a software patch for it.
Any luck?

+1
I already wrote about it somewhere.
Often I have to double-click first or press a button, then a fingerprint will work. I can't find when this occurs. And I'm sure, this comes in December with Android 13.

Actually, in my case it seems to have gotten a little better after the Android 13 update, but it's still a problem.

I was adamant that this issue was the device itself. But funnily enough, having removed the glass screen protector, the problem has disappeared.
It must've been that layer interfering with touch recognition.

In my case removing the protector doesn't help.

I don't use a screen protector on my phone.

I am having the same issue anyone got any fix?

A truly amazing device
This is the most exciting phone I ever got thanks to its impressive performances, unique features and classy yet scandalously shiny look (Chrome version). A genuine piece of art!
Just disapointed Sony ditched some good things, like the FM tuner.. :'-(
There's no category to rate touchscreen performance for some reason. In my case the known issue with the touchscreen missing clicks and swipes is definitely there. It is quite annoying, since in my previous phone - Xperia XZ - touchscreen was performing flawlessly.

The problem still happens on Oreo? Mine went away after the update. You can also try changing your resolution to near 4K. It also worked for my touchscreen issue

I just got my G8142 two day ago. Just out of the box it immediately downloaded Android Oreo. I allowed it to update. Afterwards I noticed two problems: the well-known 'com.android.phone' crash (fixed by disabling 'Visual Voicemail') and the intermittent problem with missed touches and swipes.

i Love it,
but if you live in the USA, dont buy it, there is no Support in here if the screen gets broken. You have to go abroad and then ask the abroad SAT to fix it for you. I will have to do it in Spain.
I love my phone except for the screen brightness issue. It's winter now it's impossible to use the phone during my commute since the screen flickers so much with the street lights. I wish I didn't update to Oreo.

Maybe u r late man go for a OnePlus or s9
I need to say, that this week I switched to an Oppo Reno3 pro with Snapdragon 765 and 12GB RAM. Since this I asked myself, how I could live with the XZP for three years? It was almost the worst phone I had so far. Permanently got hot, stuck, not as fast as CPU promises, blurry photos, dark screen, apps permanently closing on switching.
Was a good choice to say goodbye to Sony after 13 years, as 1 II doesn't look promising either.
After 2 and a half years, I still love this phone, it still looks good, can see that it has good material and solid construction, the back is not far from today, it is still so premium, even better with that mirror effect it has ... I have Deepsea black.
Speaking of performance, the truth is that I can't complain much on a phone from 2 or 3 years ago, everything is fine, generally correct performance for daily tasks with that SD835, some games may not be able to with the 4GB of ram, since the Idle phone usually leaves 1.8GB RAM free and high-quality graphics games usually take up 1GB or more.
And the camera, I have professional equipment, so to make snapshots, more than enough, and xzp takes really good photos in daytime. It's a little disappointing in low light conditions, but I can fix it with manual mode and snapseed or lightroom.
The multimedia section is amazing, I have never had a phone with such a good screen, especially I like the color calibration it has, it is very pleasing to the eyes, and it looks very sharp compared to the Samsung S8, S9, It is a 4K HDR LCD. I'm glad I had it.
Once the warranty passed, I unlocked it and tried several ROMs, the best the Niaboc eXistenZpie, the most stable and most SONY, I have also tried those of Android 10, but everyone has a little bit of problems..so I'm going to stay with the eXistenZpie until it lasts (and it seems that it still have time to retire)

Weird scrolling/touch sensitivity?

Anyone experiencing less than perfect touch sensitivity when trying to scroll quickly? Happens to me in Facebook, chrome, Gmail, etc. It doesn't fully register some of the swipes and makes it a short swipe/scroll motion instead of a long one. Wonder if it could be the screen protector that comes installed on the device? I have not tried taking it off.
Not the screen protector. I removed it and still get this issue. Best way to describe it - if I want to scroll down very quickly (like when I change pages here in a thread and want to get down to the bottom immediately) - swiping up quickly doesn't get me down to the bottom of the page as quickly as I'd expect. It's like it takes a few swipes sometimes to get a good fast scroll. I didn't notice this on the Pixel 2 XL. Wonder if folks are seeing this. Not a deal breaker but annoying at times.

Is it miss taps/fail to register touch or just slow swipe speed in software?
It's inconsistent speed in software. Sometimes it's a fast swipe, sometimes not. So it's hard to tell whether it's a hardware or software issue. Happens a lot for me in Facebook app.
I've noticed this a bit also when web browsing.
I agree that it seems inconsistent as to how/when it happens
I was coming here to post the same thing. Sometimes I have to tap something twice so it wil register... sometimes three times. I thought it was the screen protector too but now that i see this I'm not so sure. Is it something that's fixed with a patch? It's not THAT bad but it's kinda annoying.
I agree as well. It seems that sometimes it requires an extra tap here and there. It hadn't happened to me instead little while but it definitely happened. I was thinking about opening a thread about it a couple of days ago but got lazy lol

It seems to happen more to me in apps that are loading stuff like Chrome (with a long web page) or Facebook (in the feed). In contrast, Gmail is almost always perfect.
This makes me think it's a software issue. But FWIW taking off the screen protector made the screen more responsive for in general (I guess that's not surprising).
Curious to hear what apps are most obvious/problematic for folks.
Seriously you are making me doubt... I wanted to buy it.. I think I will buy S8 plus instead....

Could you guys please share whether all apps are affected? What about stock ones - there's the same issue? Hope that's just software.

For me it's mostly on third party apps but it's VERY sporadic. It happens every 1 out of 20 touches. Still kinda annoying but not a deal breaker for me. Also, I noticed it happens mostly when tapping things on the left side corners of the screen. Like the menu button of the citi bank app for example.
I think I will go with Samsung S8+ ...
I don't think it's a hardware issue. For me it's not screen location specific, and I only notice it when trying to scroll quickly in certain apps.

Honestly it isn't a deal breaker. At first I was very annoyed by it and I still am but it doesn't happen that often. And the phone is so good that I'm willing to just wait for OnePlus to address the issue.

False. The pixel 2 XL and razor phones are butter. So is the OnePlus except for this issue which should be resolved soon hopefully.

You can check it by enabling the pointerlocation draw in dev options. And see if it it make some weird pines or only dots sometimes when you swipe. If its the case and you have no screenprotector its a hardware issue. I had the same on op3t with the preapplied screenprotector only. Now im really afraid because im going to buy op5t coming from op5
Even I'm having the same issue, noticed on a game. 2048
Buy the s8 n you will regret.. coming from note 8 here
No such effect on my phone

This. For a device to be their top tier monster, I'm surprised they didn't put something better than just basic face recognition in it.
I'm happy with it! it sucked on the first day but then I got that update that said it would improve fingerprint stuff and it actually did! it made it more sensitive and fast. it barely ever fails now.
Zero problems.
Having written that looking at this forum I must be unique in that I am a satisfied customer with the Note 10+. Nothing better or even close.
With respect some posters here really do need to look outside the box at what we HAVE here! Latest moans seem to be around 60hz. Last year it was something else the year before something else too.
What ARE our expectations of a smart phone? Where does this quest for bigger, smaller, fatter, slimmer etc end?

No device is perfect. I don't have any issues with criticisms, there is certainly nothing wrong with wanting more for the price being paid. Just because one person is happy doesn't negate folks that see negatives anymore than it affect someone that thinks it is perfect. That's the wonder of not being in an echo chamber.
I'll certainly defend design choices I see as beneficial, but I won't discredit someone's opinion of not including a higher hz screen for instance. You mean you wouldn't like that being a part of the device? That's just one example.
I just get an air of "don't complain because we have perfection", that kind of defeats a large purpose of these communities.
Maybe someone's gripe can be solved through another solution they knew nothing about. Maybe someone's gripes will help someone else make a purchase decision that better serves their taste.
Maybe it will help someone identify an actual defect and get it repaired..
I have zero issues with my FP reader. I know it's supposed to be the same sensor as the S10+, but I feel the one on the N10+ is more sensitive than the one on my wife's S10+.
I only have issues when I miss it, because I don't turn on the screen first and have to guess where it is. But I'm actually getting better about that too.
I'm excited to install my Whitestone Dome tomorrow when it arrived and see if it affects the FP sensor negatively. Online reviews say it doesn't cause any issues.

Great news! Thank you!
I feel like the fp scanner learns/or gets better as you use it. It was the same case with my s10. Never had any issues with it except the first couple of times. After that even with the screen off no issues. I know people that don't use it and they have "issues" with it.

I'm having zero issues with the fingerprint scanner as well. I have thumb and forefinger on both hands and let me tell you.....I have missed a front fingerprint scanner in the last two Notes.
I do make a point to rotate my fingers when I do the set up, I wonder if those having issues didn't do that.
When using good lock lockscreen, the fingerprint is worse than without it.
I have a Whitestone dome screen protector installed (perfect install too, I'm impressed with myself lol), and I noticed the fingerprint sensor is definitely hit or miss for me. Even with the sensitivity boosted it seems to have problems at times. I also tend to have dry hands which from my understanding causes problems with the reader.
I'm not going to blame the phone because I never even touched the glass before the protector went on, so I will blame it on the dome.
I would be interested in seeing if others with this protector are having issues.

I'm not having the best of luck either. I haven't got the Aug firmware update yet & that might help. I'm going to add my same finger a couple more times & see if that helps. I'm using the insecure face unlock as I miss that iris scanner so, so much.

I'm coming from the Note8 and the rear fingerprint reader is instant. The Note 10+ is a hit and miss. There are times where it registers instantaneously and there are times it takes a few times to register. I haven't downloaded the Aug firmware. Hopefully that will fix the hit and miss readings.

a8 2018 vs galaxy a70

I have a8 2018 and am thinking of getting a70 but i am not sure is it worth it?
biggest dissapointment of a8 is how slippery it is, edges of the phone are a disaster and with glass fingerprinty back theres no way to survive without case
other stuff was/is fine i guess, screen, cameras all ok, especialy selfie cam. altho camera app quite slow..
anyone had a8 or tired that can compare it to a70?
i know the specs but whats on the paper dont usually tell the whole story
bigger battery is nice
bigger screen also but is it as good or better?
i know the back is slippery but how are the edges when holding it ?
cameras better or worse?
how does gps work?
how is overall speed of the phone?
thanks
Screen is big and beautiful but it's not well made, so there's the touch issue, where the screen response latency is a little delayed so it's gonna be a nightmare doing stuff that require precession on this device, such as drawing or playing games that require aiming. Check:
Also tho the screen is beautiful, it has an issue where it turns off pixels that are supposed to be dark. So while watching something with a dark atmosphere, most of the time you're not gonna be able to know what part is pitch black, and what part is just darker than the rest. People don't usually notice this issue but I did notice it because I used my brother's A50 for a while and this issue isn't present on it. The issue with touch response latency isn't present on the A50 either.
The Snapdragon 675 isn't optimized by most games so you're gonna struggle with lag in games like PUBG and Asphalt and COD. The Exynos used on the A50 is optimized, tho. And by using the A50, I can clearly see how much of an advantage optimization gives to gaming.
There A70 isn't slippery, I use it without a cover, so that's a plus. I've dropped it a couple of times but there was no effect. The A50 isn't slippery either.
And that's about it. I'm gonna sell my A70 and get an A50, or I'm gonna check the A51 after it gets released. If it doesn't have the issues mentioned here, then it's gonna be a great device with a great screen.
PS: I'm not a hater, I'm just a user that's honest. I love Samsung, but the A70 just isn't good enough to be sold to millions as it is. The A50 is better imo. Good luck mate.
I personally haven't noticed any big touch issues. The only time the display seems finicky is of my hands are sweaty or have water on them, which is pretty normal, (although I did notice this happening more on this device than my previous device). I don't know what to say on the black levels of the device since I've never noticed any problems, but it could be possible. As for games, PUBG and COD run just fine for me on med-high settings, but I did notice that asphalt 9 didn't feel very smooth, 8 for whatever reason is A-okay though, so I do think that this chipset hasn't been fully optimised for all games, but I don't think you'll have many issues.
If you're now deciding between a50 vs a70, then here's the basic differences, you decide if it's worth it.
-A50 has a better GPU, but a70 has stronger CPU
-A70 has larger screen, but both have same resolution (I.e. 1080p)
-A70 has more storage(128gb), and RAM (6gb), and while the A50 has that too, I haven't seen that model being sold anywhere online (at least in NA).
-A70 has a bigger batter and a faster charger
-A50 stock camera doesn't support 4k (could be wrong as they could have pushed out an update for this)
-A50 is cheaper
They're both good phones tbh, I don't think you'll regret either as long as you weigh the pros and cons. Hope this helps!

STOP peddling that nonsense. That is an issue with the lock screen ONLY. it is not a hardware issue and it doesn't affect anything other than the lockscreen. I don't know how many times i have to say that for you to listen.

Look dude, I wouldn't talk about it if it wasn't there. You're just not noticing it because you've never put this device side to side with an A50 or a flagship and compared the displays. If I only had this device I wouldn't know that there are dark parts that I'm missing because the pixels are turned off instead of being dimmed. I only knew that because I watch my stuff on multiple devices, which means that I can notice it when a device has an issue with it's display.
+ If I'm still talking about an issue that you've previously addressed to me, then either I'm an idiot or the issue is indeed there. You're free to think of me as in idiot, but for me, the issue IS there, and I will showcase it later by doing a comparison between the A50's and the A70's displays.
PS: I'm not talking about the polarization on the lock screen. I know that that's a bug that only happens on the lock screen, that's why I'm not taking about it.

Question POCO F3 excessive touch pressure sensitivity

What I mean by that, is touchscreen reacting to a finger about 0.5-1mm before you press it, which causes all kinds of problems like keyboard misclicks.
My previous/current phone (Realme) also exhibits the same behavior, which was one of the reasons I wanted change it, but with POCO F3 it's actually a bit worse.
Is there any hope for Xiaomi fixing it in future patches (reading old posts it seems F1 had a similar problem fixed with updates) or could it be fixed with custom ROM/kernel/some build.prop tweak? My plan with F3 was to switch to custom ROM sooner than later anyway, because MIUI is honestly quite dreadful.
Or should I just return it and look elsewhere? But it seems these days overly sensitive touchscreen behavior is becoming a new normal sadly. I think Samsung had a dedicated "glove mode", while having sensitivity in a regular mode being... well, regular. Though I haven't tried any of their latest devices (i.e. S20 FE apparently has all kind of touch issues).
a way to compensate for this is to put on the phone a THICC protective glass. beacause using this tipe of protecion is becoming more and more common manifacturers are probably increasing the touchscreen sensitivity

Yeah, I tried that. It actually works throughout a stack of 5 (!) glasses on top of a stock plastic screen protector. So at least 1.5 mm. Probably even more, it definitely works throughout a thick stack of papers.
Don't see how that is acceptable.
