Hey folks, I may be swapping my HTC Amaze 4G for a Galaxy Nexus soon, but before I do, I'd like to know the general opinions of the downsides to owning a Galaxy Nexus! I've read about a lot of the weaknesses of the Galaxy Nexus, but until I actually own one, it's pretty hard for me to pinpoint the legitimacy of these points that I see in video reviews and whatnot, so I'd like to ask you guys regarding your first hand experiences with the device. List your complaints about the Galaxy Nexus here, any contribution is appreciated!
What I've come up with so far:
- lack of microSD card
- camera is decent but not as good as it could've been
- although the screen is gorgeous, the pentile display doesn't allow it to be as clear and crisp as it should be
- build quality of the phone leaves much to be desired
I plan on rooting and installing custom ROMs as soon as I bring the device home, so please put that into consideration as well

this one had me worried too when i first got the nexus but its not that bad you just have to keep and eye on the storage.
- camera is decent but not as good as it could've been:
its still pretty good and plenty good enough for casual pics. This is a phone we;re talking about, any $200 camera will take better pics than most phones maybe with the exception of the nokia 808 but that thing is more camera than phone.
- although the screen is gorgeous, the pentile display doesn't allow it to be as clear and crisp as it should be:
best screen ive used, imo its the best screen on a phone until the gs3 comes out with its rgb 720p super amoled plus screen. There are better screens that are 720p rgb but they are LCD not amoled, depends what you like better both have their advantages.
- build quality of the phone leaves much to be desired:
My major complaint with build quality are the screen inconsistencies. check out this thread for more info. otherwise the phone is solid, i really like the curved design it feels more natural against your face or in your pocket.
if you are getting a straight trade for the amaze than you are getting the better part of the deal.
There is absolutely nothing I can complain about, as I come from a Nexus One. I'm not even entitled to complain.
- pentile... i can see the pixels very easily on my gnex compared to an iphone4... i still prefer AMOLED though
- frontlit CMOS camera
- no cheap pogo-pin charger
everything else about this phone is pretty much perfect
The screen is totally clear as pentile isn't so noticeable at such a high resolution. Not sure where you heard that.
And the build quality is actually superb, super solid and no creaking at all. Its very impressive.

Not an issue, I like the back-plate, curved design and weight off the phone is spread out so it feels optimum light
I was using AKOP and now stock 4.0.4, I sometimes experience data drops, all of a sudden bars turn gray, I just reboot the phone. I'm sure it'll be fixed at some point.
Overall fantastic phone.
My biggest gripe is that I can't think of a gripe. I like being pensive, angry, bitter, despondent, even aggressively violent, but this phone has turned me into a lovable cute like a puppy type cuddle bug.

This deserves a thank you.
Biggest gripe? Not being able to make a reliable phone call with this device. My device suffers from what's known as the "audio reboot" or "one-way audio" issue. Not every device has this issue so if you buy Nexus, it's a crap shoot. Or, if you enjoy installing custom ROMs you may also not suffer from this issue. And finally, while I haven't found 100% definitive proof of this, it seems that it's only the Verizon/CDMA version that suffers from this... I don't think anyone with the AT&T/GSM version has this problem.
The next update, which was scheduled for "sometime in March" then "early April" - both which came and went and still no update - is supposed to fix this issue. If it does not, I'm going with another device. I need my phone to function as a phone and right now, it does not do that on a reliable basis.
Honestly, other than that one (but very important) issue, the device is flawless.
No SD card is my only gripe but I knew that going in. So I can't complain all that much. Just gotta manage data more often and can't keep backups on phone as aggressively.

My complaints are more so concerning the Os as opposed to the phone itself. Sometimes my widgets stop working, Beautiful Home the time stays stuck and I have to reboot. And often times the YouTube widget will not load. I'm using ADW Launcher EX, don't know if that has anything to do with it but it happens. I have screen burn in too. Where the navigation bar is and the virtual buttons on the bottom of the phone. Whenever I watch a full screen video or movie it's noticeable, and it's hard to ignore once you notice it. I wish they would have put in a better GPU and not one that is 2 years old too because the longer I use the phone the more it lags don't know if it's the ram or GPU but it lags from time to time. And the reason Google hasn't fixed whatever needs to be fixed so it can be as smooth as Crapples IOs is beyond me. But it's better than the Nexus One. So I'm good until the Quad Core Nexus is released.

I only wish that there was universal mass storage or sd card support so the thing would work with my car stereo. Going from stereo integration to aux cable was kind of a buzz kill.
And the camera is ok but I wish it were better too.
The phone is so slick you'll likely drop it and the screen may break. Better get a protective case for it. My Diztronic Rev3 case was inexpensive and adds needed grip. Great phone, otherwise IMHO.
I too came from an Amaze 4g...and man do I miss the camera. I was running bulletproof...but still doesn't come close to how smooth the Gnexus is. If you were looking to upgrade, id say go for it...but if your coming from a sense device, you might wanna check out the HTC one s or X.

I thought I saw your name around the Amaze 4G forums before
I'm sure I'll miss the camera too, but it's a tradeoff I'm willing to make for an overall better phone, plus I never really liked Sense anyway since it has way too much overhead on the OS

One thing I forgot to mention was the screen burn-ins, I've heard that they get pretty noticeable after 6 months or so... can anyone provide some insight on this and if there's a possible solution/prevention?
what i hate is the sound whenever i set it on a table or something...it rattles (i know its the autofocus on the camera...its waaaaaay to loose on this phone)
Had my s4 for about two weeks and I've only encountered problems with it. It scratches easily, the screen smearing in the settings, the screen flickering when opening and closing the keyboard on low brightness, the stuttering when opening and closing apps and swiping left to right on the home screen, the pixels looking terrible when watching a movie scene in low lighting. Im disappointed in Samsung. A quad core device shouldnt have all of these problems. Especially if we're shelling out 630 dollars for these phones.

I traded my HTC One on craigslist for this Galaxy S4 and I didnt have any of those problems.
I had one dead pixel, called tmobile and they sent me a brand new S4 to my house to swap out becaue of the dead pixel.
Not sure why your having so many problems.

i could agree with you on the smearing but other than that i havent faced any of the other issues you mention, and regarding scratches are you talking about the screen or the back cover?

Im talking about the bezzle around the phone and around the home button. Mine came scratched out the box.

i am not sure if you have noticed this but the bezzle more like around the side of the phone where the aluminum body is has a plastic film covering all around (you have to look closely) , maybe the film is scratched try peeling that off and see if you notice the scratches anymore.

I have gone caseless about 50% of the time since day one launch and my phone is still flawless. Not a single blemish anywhere. The bezel dents far less easily than my S2 that is for sure.
I get the lag from swiping left to right when touch wiz first loads, it is smooth after that. Try another launcher if you don't like that as that is touch wiz only, not the hardware. Or wait for a custom kernel.
Or get the HTC One which is nearly the same hardware aside from the screen. Or sell and try the ASOP S4?
Your post gives off an air of trying to bring others down with you. Not sure how successful you will be with that here. There are alot of ppl who like there phones on this forum

Amen to that! I traded my s2 for the s4 and the worst issues I get are lint and a crash here or there from playing Ravensword 2 while keeping other apps open (which is my own fault). Are you able to have your phone replaced? Cause it sounds like they sold you a returned phone by mistake or intentionally

To protect any scratches I use 2 cases. One flip cover to protect screen and another gel case outside it to protect edges. And its not bulky at all.
I am going to order s view case with extra holding (no need to change back cover ) to replace this combination.

I think its your phone dude, I don't have any of those issues minus the slightest amount of lag when wiz kicks in. Return it, tell them it stopped turning on, no Samsung boot screen, nothing, that way they don't run you through a million troubleshooting steps.
Everyone here loves their phone, I think you need to just be patient and wait for devs to make some ROM tweaks and it'll blow the HTC One out of the water...

Not trying to bring any one down with me. I'm expressing my experience with the s4. I love it but there are a lot of issues.

Well I hope we change your mind man, the more people with these phones is more incentive for the devs to work on them!!
I feel like people here are disillusioned by their own experience with the device. If you're honestly saying you don't notice a screen smear at the lowest brightness or any kind of banding whatsoever in greys at the lowest brightness, you're obviously not using an S4, or you have some rare perfect unit that Samsung had blessed by their unicorn god.
I've personally played with three S4's including my own which I've obviously spent an extensive number of time with. The AMOLED screen at low brightness definitely has a number of artifacts which someone who is sensitive too could find annoying or troublesome. I personally am used to it, because the Galaxy Nexus had the same issues at low brightness, even worse in some cases. I find it really hard to believe that all three units I used were broken in some regard and I find it even tougher to believe because AMOLED has had this problem for a while now.
As for the Touchwiz lag, that will most likely be corrected via software. As flashing Faux's kernel and using interactive governor pretty much removes the lag completely. It's obviously some type of governor scaling issue.
The other issue the S4 has is the audio crackling with low impedance IEM's. Currently there is no workaround, aside from using different headphones as Samsung calls my UE900's "not compatible" with their device. The reason why I played with three different S4's is because of this problem, which was present in all three S4's to a varying degree of annoyance.
Don't get me wrong -- the S4 is a great device, I'm keeping mine for the time being, but to pretend like it's some flawless experience is downright incorrect. It has a number of design issues that need to be remedied in order for me to go ahead and purchase another Samsung S(Anything) in the future.

Bless the unicorns, I don't have these issues. Any of them aside from touchwiz lagging after a reboot. I've turned my brightness all the way down and used the stick keyboard, Swiftkey and Swype with zero flickering; I've watched videos with no issues and examined several grey panels desperately trying to find faults and coming up blank.

Like I said before, warranty your device. Smearing and audio crackling are a known issue but only on certain batches mailed out. Surely, future ROMS will have audio patches to fix that but the screen is internal, obviously. We haven't figured out what caused it or who all has the issue but its a known thing. I wont speak on behalf of T-Mobile but being an employee I recommend just to tell them it randomly boots or doesn't power on at all; so you don't have to go through a million troubleshooting steps.
Just don't do the OTA when you get it lol

THANK YOU. +10000 I definitely LOVE my s4, but these problems are VERY annoying. My OCD is making me want to return it. Apple has definitely won the war of UI smoothness.

Well Apple has a couple of distinct advantages in that area. For starters they only have to worry about their hardware. So they can optimize all their software, SDK's, drivers, etc all for their one device. They also prioritize the graphics above everything else on the phone. Nothing short of a kernel panic is going to make the graphics hiccup/jitter in iOS. These two examples apply to other areas as well, like their audio processing latency being so low. Despite what people here say, the iPhone is definitely a sweet device.
That being said, if you haven't already you should try the HTC One. The LCD screen doesn't suffer from the same problems the AMOLED does. The interface is also much smoother. Plus you get better front facing speakers. You obviously trade off SD Card (which was one of the reasons I didn't get the One), replaceable battery, the S-Features if you like them, etc. But overall I think the One is a better experience if little things bother you.
You can try trading in your S4, but you're probably just going to end up like me, trading it and receiving a device with the same problems back.

A truly amazing device
This is the most exciting phone I ever got thanks to its impressive performances, unique features and classy yet scandalously shiny look (Chrome version). A genuine piece of art!

There's no category to rate touchscreen performance for some reason. In my case the known issue with the touchscreen missing clicks and swipes is definitely there. It is quite annoying, since in my previous phone - Xperia XZ - touchscreen was performing flawlessly.

The problem still happens on Oreo? Mine went away after the update. You can also try changing your resolution to near 4K. It also worked for my touchscreen issue

I just got my G8142 two day ago. Just out of the box it immediately downloaded Android Oreo. I allowed it to update. Afterwards I noticed two problems: the well-known 'com.android.phone' crash (fixed by disabling 'Visual Voicemail') and the intermittent problem with missed touches and swipes.

I'd get it exchanged if the touchscreen issues bothers you, if you still can

but if you live in the USA, dont buy it, there is no Support in here if the screen gets broken. You have to go abroad and then ask the abroad SAT to fix it for you. I will have to do it in Spain.
I love my phone except for the screen brightness issue. It's winter now it's impossible to use the phone during my commute since the screen flickers so much with the street lights. I wish I didn't update to Oreo.

I looked at this phone for a long time and I thought that it was the ugliest one I have ever seen, with that said I bought it because it is the best looking phone I have ever seen and it is the fastest one.
It's a great phone, everything is a wow, the plastic frame is the only point bother to me

Screen can be bought from AliExpress and any newbie can fix it. Particularly sony phones are easier to fix

Maybe u r late man go for a OnePlus or s9
I need to say, that this week I switched to an Oppo Reno3 pro with Snapdragon 765 and 12GB RAM. Since this I asked myself, how I could live with the XZP for three years? It was almost the worst phone I had so far. Permanently got hot, stuck, not as fast as CPU promises, blurry photos, dark screen, apps permanently closing on switching.
Was a good choice to say goodbye to Sony after 13 years, as 1 II doesn't look promising either.
After 2 and a half years, I still love this phone, it still looks good, can see that it has good material and solid construction, the back is not far from today, it is still so premium, even better with that mirror effect it has ... I have Deepsea black.
Speaking of performance, the truth is that I can't complain much on a phone from 2 or 3 years ago, everything is fine, generally correct performance for daily tasks with that SD835, some games may not be able to with the 4GB of ram, since the Idle phone usually leaves 1.8GB RAM free and high-quality graphics games usually take up 1GB or more.
And the camera, I have professional equipment, so to make snapshots, more than enough, and xzp takes really good photos in daytime. It's a little disappointing in low light conditions, but I can fix it with manual mode and snapseed or lightroom.
The multimedia section is amazing, I have never had a phone with such a good screen, especially I like the color calibration it has, it is very pleasing to the eyes, and it looks very sharp compared to the Samsung S8, S9, It is a 4K HDR LCD. I'm glad I had it.
Once the warranty passed, I unlocked it and tried several ROMs, the best the Niaboc eXistenZpie, the most stable and most SONY, I have also tried those of Android 10, but everyone has a little bit of problems..so I'm going to stay with the eXistenZpie until it lasts (and it seems that it still have time to retire)
Here's the upshot to anyone considering the LG V30, who has the Galaxy S8 already:
Try it out in person, and compare it to your S8 side by side, before you buy one. It's that simple. Hopefully you don't have the bad experience I did with the V30.

Man, I wanted to love the V30. It was supposed to be the better, snappier cousin of the S8. But I'm going to return it, and stick with the S8, which I don't love. I wanted to share a few of my observations, in case anyone else is considering a similar upgrade. Disclaimer: I usually prefer stock Android, but switched to Samsung after the Nexus 6. Imho Google hasn't released a good phone since the Nexus 5X and that's sad.
First, the screen quality on the S8 is much better than the V30's, especially at lower brightness levels. Looking at the V30 on auto-brightness settings, it always looked washed out compared to the S8. Even the V30's different color settings didn't help. And to be clear, it's not a matter of the V30 looking more "true to life" -- the screen colors just looked washed out, especially at indoor brightness levels. Counterpoint: You might not notice if you are coming from a non-Samsung phone like the OnePlus 3T or 5.
Second, the scrolling lag on the V30 was atrocious. And I say this coming from an S8 where scrolling lag is noticeable. The two apps where I noticed it the most were Instagram and Sync (for Reddit). Vertical scrolling, side scrolling, scrolling upside down, all of it was laggy as hell. I thought LG's UI was supposed to be more responsive? I compared the two side by side, and the V30 made the S8 look *buttery* smooth. Didn't make any sense. Super disappointed in this aspect of the experience.
Third, the V30 is just overall too big to be used with one hand. As one example, the volume button placement is way too high on the phone to adjust with one hand. And I have big hands. Ugh. The V30's placement of the fingerprint reader is VASTLY superior than the S8's... but that's kind of it.
Finally, the overall UX design on the LG V30's default skin feels cheap. This includes the default System UI theme, system apps, and their icons. Compared to the S8, the V30's UI is just bland and retro-looking. I immediately missed the contemporary design of the S8's system UI buttons. I searched for LG V30 themes that could help, and none of them fixed the icons problem. The dialer app especially was just hideous compared to the Samsung dialer. And for both, I wish I could replace them with the Google dialer, but they don't let you do a *true* and *full* dialer replacement.
So I'll be sticking with my S8, and probably holding out until the S9 rolls around. **** man. Not happy about this at all.
I've got zero scroll lag in Instagram, G+, Chrome... etc. As for the screen looking washed out compared to Samsung, it's generally well known that Samsung goes full tilt on the punchy cartoonish colors. First thing I always had to do was set my Samsungs to their mildest display setting. I even had to back the V30 off just a tad. As for the default LG skin, I replace it out of the box with the Google Now launcher, the beauty of Android no matter which manufacturer you're using.
Lastly, are you sure you have big hands? My Nexus 6 and LG V20 felt fine. The V30 feels small in comparison. It feels closer to my work iPhone 6s in size than it does to my V20.
I switched to V30 from S8+ for one reason only, the HiFi DAC. S8 (non Exynos) headphone jack sound quality is mediocre at best, couldn't stand it anymore.
V30 sound quality is incredible. Only thing I miss so far is Samsung Pay.

This is now the 4th mention I've seen of the V30 having noticably laggy scrolling. Making me nervous for my purchase.

1. The video camera features on the V30 are really swell, clearly superior to the S8. If I shot a lot of video and didn't care about the other stuff like ugly UI and laggy scrolling, this could sell the phone.
2. The V30 does NOT support Kevo deadbolts, even though it has BLE. Wtf? This ALONE is a deal-breaker. For SEO: the LG V30 does not work with Kevo deadbolts by Kwikset.
3. Quad DAC is a nice feature, and it seems to be unique in its class. But I don't listen to headphones very much, and it has no effect on the phone's built-in speaker.
4. I compared the scrolling side by side and the lag is NOTICEABLY bad on the LG V30. To show it off I'd need a THIRD camera though.
I'm surprised to hear that you were experience scroll lag on your S8. I have an S7 Edge and never experience scroll lag, and I use Instagram and Sync for Reddit.
I actually find the V30's size to be great. Compared to my S7 Edge, the proportions are almost identical. It's nice going for more screen real estate without adding on extra bulk.
One of my biggest concerns with upgrading is the quality of the screen and the overall build quality. Going from my S7 Edge, nothing jumped out at me about the screen, but the V30 feels cheaper in hand. Probably because of how light it is and that awful chrome band around the edge.
I have both phones, and except for the part where the S8 might have the 'better' (I think its just brighter, V30 is more realistic) screen, I disagree with every one of OP's points. I mean really, the size? The V30 is 3mm wider, 5 mm taller, almost a mm THINNER, and virtually the same weight. Thats barely any difference, especially considering V30 has a screen .2 inches bigger
If you have problems getting to volume button, you DO NOT have big hands. I have normal hands and I have zero problem reaching any button on the V30. Funny thing is that the Volume buttons on the S8 are actually a smidgen higher than the V30. There is almost zero lag in both of those apps for me on V30. S8 is pretty lag free also, so that's a wash.
The UX thing is just funny. There are a million launchers/themes/icon sets out there that can change the look of any phone. I think the V30 UI is more subdued and natural and just says 'use me right'. The S8 jumps out at you like an attention whore. I feel like I need to dial back the tones, colors and overall 'HEY LOOK AT ME' screen of the Samsung phones.
If you had the 'sky is falling' screen issues (that can only be seen in certain specific test instances) or maybe is so vain that the selfie camera wasn't up to your speed, I can understand. But you're complaining about 3 things that are absolutely not true. In my household are 2 V30, a V20 , a 6p, an S8, S8+ and a Note 8 (with a Pixel 2 on the way) and I tell you the V30's are by far the best phones in that group.
I love to see critical analysis of any phone and I have no brand loyalty to anyone. Out of all the personal reviews I've read, this is just downright the worse and farfetched. Sounds like you just wanted to hate the phone and you found ways to meet that hate. Enjoy your S8

My wife is 5'0, 100 pounds woman that wears XS everything, including gloves. She was amazed how small the V30 felt in her hands and how light it was for such a big screen.

Quick side by side test
S8 on left, V30 on right. S8 is running basic touchwiz, no other launcher. I have about 35 apps on phone, Adguard running in background. V30 has about 200 apps, running Nova, Adguard, Gear s3, Android Wear all running in background. Made this real quick to show the 'atrocious' scrolling lag in reddit app of the V30......

Have you tried a hard reset and tried again? This phone is buttery smooth compared to the s8. I downloaded Sync to test out scrolling compared to my s8 and it has no problem with Sync/FB/Chrome anything. Only problem i've had with it is the camera and taking fuzzy photos which I have a replacement coming.

Cool bud, glad you like your V30. I really want the V30 to do well since competition helps out everyone.
I handed the V30 to my buddy and asked him to tell me what he thinks. He IMMEDIATELY noticed the laggy scrolling and also noticed a new thing I had not, which is the irregular brightness of the screen with auto-brightness on.
When people don't notice the problems I notice, it's not so much that they're not having the problems I found, it's just that they haven't noticed them (yet), or they don't care. Attention to detail ain't everyone's forte, let's be real.
And of course there's always the possibility that a large percentage of V30s have hardware issues, and yours hasn't, so you haven't had any of the problems I've had.
Either way, I think LG can make it right, and I sincerely hope they do. Everything I've seen so far seems to be a software problem, potentially fixable in an OTA update -- but who knows when that will happen. The V30 should be the best phone on the market today -- but it's not, at least not yet.
LOL at the big hands thing, too. To each his own. Anyone reading this needs to grip the phone to know whether it's comfortable or not. I'm sure it's fine for some people. I'm also sure the volume buttons are too damn high on the left side.

Ya, I understand that being the phone was just released..... you can still get bad transfers etc when downloading all your previous apps from other phones etc. I agree with people earlier you are literally looking for every reason not to like it so just return it.

I do QA testing for a pharmaceuticals software and robotics company and previous to that I did consumer electronics hardware/software testing. It's pretty much my forte. (Or people could realistically die.)

I'm not saying that you aren't experiencing lag, because I believe that you are, however, I upgraded from an S8 and I will say that, yes, there was some lag when using instagram and sync. Though on the v30 I have found that not to be the case with Sync. Yes, there are moments of lag on occasion particularly when multitasking or using the camera app usually from quick launch and it often occurs when launching in terribly low light situations. That being said I would factory reset it.
4 people on my family plan all got v30s. 3 of us had no issues or lag like whatsoever accept for the occasional hiccup like I mentioned above (or a second delay when launching a fresh app from the home screen). Now, the 4th person had a terrible issue with scrolling like as you mentioned above and a couple other issues that none of us were experiencing. It confused me so much but I decided to factory reset their phone, twice might I add just to be sure, and lo and behold he has not had an issue with scroll lag once since then.
Just a suggestion to factory reset it It's just that a majority of users aren't getting any scrolling lag that is excessively bad.

Are you new to Android? If so then please allow me to tell you that a factory reset is basically the number one step in Android trouble shooting. I happen to know someone who works in a carrier tech support team and when a wierd, unexplainable issue occurs they always have the customer do a factory reset. Sucks that it's an issue out of the box but it sounds like from others that it's a fix so that's a positive!

The first thing I do with any type of lag is cache clear and if that doesn't work, factory reset from recovery.

The S8 was. The V30 was on manual with comfort view on since i was doing some reading on it.

A possibility of large percentage of V30 having hardware problems?! Where, when? Besides a few folks complaining about the screen when viewing a grey background at 0% brightness, there have been almost no reports of hardware issues, nevermind a 'large percentage'. You're making up stuff now.
How do you keep saying the V30 buttons are too high but you're fine with the S8 when the S8 buttons are HIGHER than the V30? Not only higher but then you have the extra Bixby button right underneath the down volume that I can accidentally hit a third of the time when reaching for volume. The off-center fingerprint button of the S8 is higher than the V30 volume buttons.
I give benefit of doubt but I"m seriously doubting everything you're saying. You said you have a friend, who I"m sure has a phone. Why didn't you ask him to take a video of your two phones side by side doing a simple test like I did?
Mind you, I didn't even do my typical factory reset when I got the phone. This is straight out of the box performance.
You come with your 'read this first' headline but you're sprouting zero basis statements with no evidence that no one else (even people with multiple devices) are seeing.

Then why not just try what people have said to fix it if you "really want to like it" . Like i said, try factory reset and go from there.... if it does it again, tell them and return it for another one cause its not natural
I have a LG V30+ and I'm thinking about to trade it in a Glaxy A70. In the case, I like to play Aspjalt 9 and the V30+ runs very well. The A70 has a better battery and will have 2 more OS update. What you thnk about it? Shold I get the A70 or keep my V30+?
Keep the V30+. The A70 has many bugs, and is not well optimized for games. Asphalt 9 runs like ****, alongside other game that should work amazing, but they don't. and the touch screen has sensitivity issues.

It's like it doesn't understand the deference between "Black, should be turned off" and "Dark, should be dimmed". This means that while watching movies and videos, or playing games, if you encounter a part where things are dark and spooky, you're more than likely to see nothing, instead of just seeing things get darker.

Look at the bottom of the screen, and you'll notice that the wallpaper is really dimmed there to the point that it's turning black, which ruins it. I saw that wallpaper on my brother's A50 and it's not that dark on the bottom, nor is it black. It's just dimmed a little.
I chose the A70 over the A50 because I wanted better performance. But the issues and bugs this phone has are to much for me. I'm currently looking for a new phone to buy, with a price close to the A70.
Asphalt 9 does run badly on the A70, yep.
That black issue only happens on the lock screen. It's a software issue. Touchscreen is fine on mine also ?

I have none of these issues with my A70. Can't speak for Asphalt 9 but I have about a dozen or so games installed and haven't had any issues. In fact, when I run the same games I cant tell a difference between them running on the A70 or my V30. There are 2 if I remember correctly where load times are a bit shorter on the V30, but that's all. I'm pleased with the overall performance of the A70, enough so that I've given the V30 to my daughter and the A70 is my daily.
To the OP, Battery is leaps and bounds better on the A70 obviously, but the v30 wasn't that bad battery wise either. Performance perspective I don't see a difference in day to day usage. Fingerprint scanner on V30 is much faster. Camera quality is better on the rear cameras of the V30. Selfie camera sucked on the V30 and is much better on the A70. Also if water resistance is important, than the A70 is not for you. Similar to the quad dac if you use it. I always used Bluetooth earbuds so was never really important to me. Display is very good on the A70, I haven't experienced issues and I watch movies daily on my train commute to work. Honestly though, if your V30 is running well, I wouldn't upgrade myself unless you absolutely want the bigger screen/battery. The SOC is still technically superior on the V30 even though it may not be noticeable in day to day usage.

Get S9+. Price is close. The rest is much better except for smaller screen and much smaller battery.
I'm keeping A70. Asphalt9 can suck my finger!
