Hello everybody,
I bought a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 last year.
Until August 2022 I have never had any problems.
Then now it is not possible to enable wifi and when I open it the audio no longer works.
I called Samsung about the warranty and they told me it's not covered by the warranty for them because it has a small mark
in a corner of the smartphone, absurd.
So since I am an IT and electronic technician and I have already repaired Iphone in the past, I am trying to repair it myself.
Also because to repair it out of warranty they asked me for 600 euro.
I have already opened the back cover and checked the various flex cables.
I wanted to ask you if there was a Fold 3 hardware expert among you, I mean that he knows the various components.
for example for the wifi problem that does not enable what should I look at exactly, does it have its own board or a flex cable that I can replace?
For audio not working when I open it here too maybe it could be a flex cable problem.
I have yet to open the main display to see the other components.
Let me know if there is any expert.
Thanks

Seems to be a very common problem , lots of info about it with many solutions that work for some owners

Ive had my G-Nexus for under 3 months, loved every minute of it but i sent it away to Vodafone to have it repaired as my USB port and headphone jack seemed to be acting a bit funky (intermittently working)
Got a phonecall today asking me for £100 to fix this fault as apparently it was physical damage !! Now i dont think this is the case and im going to fight tooth and nail to get it fixed for free !! But assuming i cant , any recommendations of places in the UK to get this repaired and an idea of the cost involved ?

Found this site already but looking for comparisons.
Give them this link from the Google issue tracker: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=23789
This proves that the USB port is indeed very flaky and Samsung should also be painfully aware of it.
I will do! Thanks !
just now I'm just getting very scripted offshore messages so hopefully when the actual complaints team call me I should have somewhere to go with it.
Hi guys,
I've had a Galaxy Nexus for a very long time now and have been very happy with it. These days however, a very annoying charging problem appeared on my Galaxy Nexus. Basically, the device doesn't 'recognize' if it's charging or not. You can read more about the problem here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427539
Now I want to fix my Galaxy Nexus under warranty, because that's the safest way and I don't want to invest any money in it anymore since I plan on buying the new Nexus when it comes out. Problem is, my Galaxy Nexus' screen broke a few weeks ago (For the people who are wondering how; phone fell on the ground and then a biker rode over it...) and I'm not sure if Samsung will fix my phone under warranty since I'm 99% sure it's a hardware issue and it COULD have been from the drop which broke my screen (which I'm 100% sure it's not, because I had the same problem some months ago, but it promptly disappeared and just a few days ago, which means it was a few weeks after the drop, the problem came back.)
Anyone here can tell me what Samsung's and my rights are and if they will fix it? I'm currently visiting family in China, so if I'm not sure if Samsung's going to fix it, I can probably let it fix in China for cheaper, but that's not my preferred option, since it will officially break my warranty (and still costs money of course ).
Anyone? There must be someone who has some experience in warranties... ?
Is the glass cracked?
Warranties cover problems/defects from normal use. If they see the broken glass they will tell you that the problem was caused by an accident or drop which is not their fault.
you may get lucky and they could replace it, but its their decision.

Yes, the glass is broken. So basically, you'd recommend me to let it repair for cheap in China? Thanks for your answer by the way!
Screen replacements aren't cheap either..$100-$150 at least

You should get quotes from a few places before repairing, If someone offers to replace it WAY cheap than the others it may be a poor quality screen they're using. The most expensive one will be samsung though. ( I supposed since its OEM)
I know screen replacements aren't cheap, I've done my research. The problem is that the glass is linked to the whole screen which means you've basically got to replace half of your phone just for the glass. The cheapest I've found for a repair is about 190 euro.
But that's NOT what I meant. Because it's so expensive I've decided to not repair the screen and wait for the new Nexus phone. I can live a few months with a broken screen. I can't live with this charging issue however so I just want to fix the mini USB port. I got my contacts in China, so bad quality isn't a problem.
So basically I got two options:
1. Let the USB port fix in China for cheap
2. Let the USB port fix by Samsung in Europe (where I live) under warranty, but have a chance to be denied thanks to the broken screen.
And you guys recommend me to do the first one right?

I don't know how comfortable you feel about getting it repaired in China, but if you really trust your contacts, then get both of them done there. Since you said that you are going to get the new Nexus when it comes out, you really don't have anything to lose.
I do have trusts in my contacts in China. Just wasn't sure if I should do it because I will probably lose my warranty and it costs money. But I've decided: I'm hoping to let it repair in China, thank you! (Only the USB port btw, not screen).
They will likely deny your claim for a warranty replacement and tell you that it was probably just damaged when it fell. Unless you can actually prove to a rep that the issue happened before the drop. Even so, cracked glass generally voids your warranty as user inflicted abuse. Factory warranty generally only covers problems cause by the makers of the device. Anything else and the warranty is voided and the claim dismissed.
Source: I dropped my last Samsung phone. Cracked glass, bad radio. Was going to be warranty replaced, until I dropped it. They had on file my claim for the bad radio, but since the screen cracked after the fact they told me that voided the warranty and they absolutely would not honor the replacement. I had to pay an insurance deductible and get it replaced for $99USD.

This was the answer I was looking for. Thanks!
Hi ,
My SGH-i927 was working quite happily sat on charge connected to a USB cable on my PC, I left work with the phone in my pocket and when I came to use it a couple of hours later it was completely unresponsive.
It will not respond to power button at all
It shows no activity when on charge either via wall wart or USB, it does not show up as connected to the PC when USB cable plugged in.
I've tried removing the battery for a couple of minutes and also a different battery with long and short presses of the Power Button whiles't holding volume with various combinations there of.
This is not as a result of my flashing anything it just stopped, the threads I've seen using search all seem to be able to get to a boot screen of some description mine is completely dead.
Phone was Unlocked / rooted / backed up + efs backup / running 4.0.4 UCLJ3 Lite Kernel
Anyone have a suggestion on how I might be able to resurrect it or should I put it in a long ship and set fire to it ?
Please note I imported this Phone into the UK
I approached a local SAMSUNG service center and they won't touch it as it's from outside the EU. - Further more on discussing the nature of the problem I was informed it's probably a hardware fault due to IC or Fuse or combination of them. As these are surface mounted components they wouldn't be repairable by normal means and they wouldn't even give me a number for an independent phone repair.
Can anyone know of and can give me the contact details of a repair person based in the UK who'd be willing to look at it ?

Thankyou,
I appreciate the time taken to respond and especially the offer, however although not completely inept with a soldering iron changing the motherboard may well be beyond my expertise, but I'd be willing to give it a go if all else fails.
I have managed to locate another repair center reportedly having Samsung Qualified technicians. Initial communications seemed to suggest they could deal with the assessment which they provide for free. I have sent the handset to them and am now awaiting their report.
If things do not work out with the repair center, I would like to contact you to discuss your offer further.
Regards
Response from repair center - beyond economical repair - but no further detail.
I think I'll call it quits now and just invest in a new handset.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2KF0YV4051 $145 brand new.
I might be willing to part with my own for a reasonable price too, but it wouldn't be less than $100. Has an extended battery. Probably better to get a brand new one.
Hi,
I have a Note 2 N7105 that has random statics when listening via the audio jack. A slight tap usually fixes this but it comes back quite often now. I use a pair of tweezers and have removed some lint that was in there. I read other online threads with the same problem, that's where I got the tapping it idea from. But I have also read that they replace the audio jack and it is still not working!
So I am fairly technical with phones. But ever since I opened my HTC HD2 phone before and shattered the screen (the hot glue was hard to remove) making it redundant, I am a little bit afraid of opening up phones with massive screens. I already have a spare audio jack port that I bought off ebay so I am all ready but just wanted to make sure that it is a fairly easy matter!
I re-flashed a stock 4.4.2 rom back on to my phone but I have the Knox 0x1 flag. But I have only had the phone for about 1 year 8 months (2 years manufacturers guarantee in the UK). Thinking whether I could try positing it to Samsung anyway, worse thing that will happen is they send it back? But it's not really a software related issue. Besides, the UK has the Sales of Goods Act consumer rights that overrules warranties, where devices should last up to 6 years, and this phone cost £500+ when it was released and it's barely been 2 years. Wonder if I could use this? However, I tried contacting Samsung before a few months ago twice about my audio port not working, and they refuse to fix it because of "wear and tear" and it's not a manufacturer defect. What a joke. But it turns out that the audio port was working and it was my earphones that stopped working haha.
I tried to go back to my carrier (EE UK) where I pay monthly but they told me to go to the Samsung website and get them to fix it.
I am not sure what my best option is. I've only just got a Note 3 so I simply want to get the audio port fixed to sell on.
Thank you for reading and I hope someone can tell me what the best option is and offer any advice. Cheers
Perhaps you can check with your bank ?
Sometimes they let you take out phone insurance for free if you have a bank/current account with them.
I know Halifax n Barclays do........

Thanks. But I don't take up on those insurance offers, just couldn't justify it . Now my choice is either to change it myself or try return it for warranty (although Samsung are a bit picky...).. Do you think EE should accept responsibility and do it for me? Just wondering whether anyone has had experience in opening the note 2 and replacing the audioport. If it's fairly easy with not much that can go wrong, I might give it a go.
Hey guys, my phone got slammed in a car door and I finally paid £130 and replaced the screen because it got damaged to the point of being unusable but in the process of replacing it I accidently broke the ribbon for the multitask button. I've tried searching for the part on eBay etc and can't find a replacement part, could someone link me please? If it's available. Thanks in advance

Dunno, not much parts for the OP3. Have you watched JerryRigEverything? He has a really nice disassembly video.
Confirmed, you DID f**k up.
There are NO official replacement parts available online because OnePlus does not sell them to third parties. Anything you may come across is not official - including that screen you got somewhere.
Even if you don't mind unofficial parts, it's really hard to get small single parts for devices with poor service support. Full screen assemblies are fairly common, pretty much anything else isn't.
BTW, screen replacement in official service center costs about as much as you paid for the screen. Didn't benefit at all doing it alone ...
Don't have many options now, go check aliexpress, dealextreme and similar sites if you find anything. If not, well, ... you'll have to shell out even more £££.
