Question Is it possible to port Dolby Vision to F3? - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

I've been wondering for a while, is there any way possible to port Dolby Vision codecs to our F3? Since the display already supports HDR10+ and SD870 supports it too.
Also, the F4 is already out with remarkably similar internals to F3. It has the E4 AMOLED screen and SD870 too, but it supports Dolby Vision. Is there any hardware difference that the F4 has and the F3 doesn't thus it supports Dolby Vision?

Any developer with an opinion on this?

I have the same question but not for F3 - what I have is the Redmi K40s which looks very alike to Poco F4 but lack of Dolby Vision => in the end DV is a software or hardware guys @[email protected]? if it's a software then can I add it to my K40s @[email protected]?

Exactly, we need DV to F3

So truee, we miss the full potential of F3 display since there are not many HDR10+ content, but DV contents are everywhere

Yes HDR10 content is everywhere but the brightness is fixed everywhere whereas HDR10+ and DV is dynamic which helps in dark scene or watching in low light. I mainly watch on Netflix and Disney+, but they only have HDR10 not 10+ for F3. Since i always watch on my phone on the bed to sleep, i notice the difference between those two HDR formats.
How do i know what HDR10+ looks like? I torrented some multiGB movies I don't condone this action but damn, i can't afford other streaming service that has HDR10+ with far less content . Besides, digital p * r * c y in my country is kind of loosely regulated

How does the 'Youtube App' decides his Quality output?

Today, i've received my Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. And noticed that the Youtube App doesnt play videos quality higher than 1080p, but previously i'd a Xiaomi Mi Note 3 and it was possible to choose 4K Videos.
How does the Youtube App calculate their limitness? I mean Mi Mix 2 has a bigger screen and more powerful CPU than the Mi Note 3.

Neither phone has a 4k screen so it doesn't matter.

How has it got no value? Phone has a 1080p screen, not a 4k screen so selecting a 4k video won't show it in 4k, it will show it in 1080p. Not rocket science.

Is there going to be EIS (steadycam) update for 4k 60fps on the G8?

I know that the SD855 is capable of doing EIS for 4k 60fps as I've noticed that other ones with the same chip are starting to come out with updates to enable this feature. I know that all SD855 phones already can do EIS for 4k 30fps but not 60fps (the option greys out or disappears). for example, the zenfone 6 recently had an update to enable this. i'm not sure which other phone can do this right now.
I'm not sure why there isn't more details when it comes to EIS as it is a very very attractive feature, as it almost replaces the need to have a gimbal. i 99% sure the G8 since the G7 also has been using gyro-based EIS meaning the stabilization algorithm is optimized by the data from the gyro. i hope that one day they also add OIS to the ultrawide cam as EIS crops in alot.
thanks,
Hi,
Are you talking about the SteadyCam option presence on LG G8/S/X devices?
As I heard of, for the moment only main lens and FHD 16:9 maximum but it may arrive soon. I'll ask my colleagues next week.

Is the display actually HDR capable?

It is mentioned so in the Chinese mi site.

Yes it is...
On European version, YouTube supports HDR videos

Question Same panel as Mi 11 ?

Hi, I'm torn between F3 8/256 and Mi 11.
What about the panel ? It's the same except QHD for one (Mi 11, 480 Hz touch sampling) and FHD for the other one (F3, 360 Hz touch sampling)
I need to save money so for me F3 seems to be the better choice, but I've one chance to get Mi 11 less cheaper than new one.
Thanks
Mi 11 is significantly better. However it depends on how much you want to spend extra as the Poco f3 is so good for its cost (better value then mi 11)
I was only talking about display.
Poco F3 starts selling tomorrow in my country. I need to make a choice.
I'm very interested, too.
By the way, F3 screen earned the highest evaluation (A+) at DisplayMate. It's only a full HD display, but less pixels = less energy spent to manage it.
I'm trying to make a choice between F3 and the Mi 11i (a rebranded Redmi K40 Pro+ for the global market)...
I think I should go for F3.
Mi 11i is not interesting for me (same display as F3). I need the best panel. Think Mi 11 has it, but I really don't wanna pay more than 500 euros.
Actually I own an Galaxy Note 10+ and I never use the wqhd+ resolution, It doesn't make any diference for me.
The phone itself is awesome, premium, but the exynos hardware is the reason i'm switching to Poco F3.
I bought 6GB RAM. 8GB was unfortunately not avalaible. Can it be enough ?
No DC dimming and no adaptive refresh rate.
It's still an outstanding panel nonetheless, just hope future updates fix the panel dimming under heavy load and high temperatures.
The Mi 11 had the same problem with reviewers upon it's release in January, seems like it's been fixed with the latest firmware update.

According to some reviews the 120 Hz rate is adaptable according to the displayed content and the DC Dimming function can be inserted with a future update or with a customized rom.
Is there any information what PWM frequency the F3 uses?
How much will be price?

Question NEW HERE NEED F3 HELP (F3 vs X3 Pro Display)

So I just watched this video (really good comparison between F3 and X3 Pro):
sorry heres the video:
So now I am wondering and wanna get actual opinion from F3 users - how noticeable is the dimming? Is it true that it's not as bothersome like the reviewer said in the video especially if you use auto brightness anyway?
I always turn on auto brightness.
I haven't noticed any noticeable dimming in my f3 while playing genshin, unlike the iPhone that i used previously, that thing ran HOT.
Learn how to use the search bar my friend, there are many threads on this topic.
The video above is almost 2 months old and outdated.
I'm sorry to be rude, but the Poco X3 Pro's display is not even close or in the same class as the Poco F3's display.
This should not even be a discussion or comparisson, period.
With the current latest firmware on the Poco F3, the dimming issues have been fixed.
