Today, i've received my Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. And noticed that the Youtube App doesnt play videos quality higher than 1080p, but previously i'd a Xiaomi Mi Note 3 and it was possible to choose 4K Videos.
How does the Youtube App calculate their limitness? I mean Mi Mix 2 has a bigger screen and more powerful CPU than the Mi Note 3.

How has it got no value? Phone has a 1080p screen, not a 4k screen so selecting a 4k video won't show it in 4k, it will show it in 1080p. Not rocket science.

It depends on what do they include as hardware is very oddly when dealing with IMG series 6 compared with Snapdragon 800 series.
Shortly, one of the newest SoC, MTK6795 (Helios X10) has IMG G6200 inside while Your asked is equipped with IMG G6430, You may refer gsmarena.
It is believed the system you mentioned can handle 4K recording. However, There may be no accelaration when recording in HEVC.
According to this article (https://www.gsmarena.com/check_out_tfirst_samsung_galaxy_s9_benchmarks-news-29813.php), the 9810 can shoot [email protected] but purposely disabled to maintain parity with SD845.
Can any devs comment on whether it is possible to unlock this feature for Exynos chipsets?

Believe me when I say I will definatly try to unlock that option if the phone is capable of root and I can decrypt the camera app.... I've done it for the note 3-7 but gave up after getting busy... I'd also turn off the 5 minute rule

Nice to hear such devs are available who like to use all camera potential locked by business OEM . Please sir can you make 60/120fps 1080 to work on mi mix 2. Also 240fps @720p. Because sir Moto Z2 force has same imx 386 sensor same as mi mix 2 but it can do all above said. Xiaomi locked mi mix 2 only @30fps at any video. And slow Mo @120fps. Please help sir

Ohhhh that's a problem. Bye the way thank you. It means my mix 2 will remain pathetic in video department.
Buffers for 1080p/480 are most probably hardlocked somewhere in the kernel or samsung camera API or in the rom itself, the best answer we may have here is from @zeroprobe .
Hi, was wondering if anyone could do a Mi max 2 Gcam HDR+ vs Mi max 3 Gcam HDR+ front and rear camera comparison? I would like to see the maximum potential of these two cameras to see how much it has improved and whether I should get this or just keep the Mi Max 2? Thank you!

Only a few people may have both of these phones and even fewer probably use gcam on them so I would not be to optimistic about someone posting a comparison. I have used the gcam mod on many different devices from Xiaomi and the results has more or less been the same. I would guess that Max 2 and Max 3
produce very similair results when using the gcam mod. Photo quality from smartphones are like 90% software optimization and 10% camera hardware quality.

Not at all. I owned a Redmi 5 Plus and Huawei Mate 10 at the same time. I prefered the low light photos from 5 Plus with gcam even tough Mate 10 has way better camera hardware.

It's true, I guess it was worth a shot. I'm only asking because I checked the mi max 3 vs pixel 2 gcam comparison on XDA the other day, and IMO the mi max 3 was better than the pixel 2 in almost all the shots, I was shocked myself, so I wanted to know if it improved by a lot when compared to the mi max 2.

In January I posted a comparison between Redmi 5 Plus and Mi 5S, using the ported gcam app on both phones.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/albums/72157692005458944
Even though Mi 5s has a "much better" image sensor, the photo quality was very close IMO. The reason? As I said earlier, the photo quality from smartphone cameras is mostly about software optimizations.
IMO all phones produce more or less the same results when using Gcam and HDR+. You may find minor differences here and there, but not any large differences.
I'm waiting Max 3 6G/128G. As I know Max 3 has all Samsung camera sensors which are more compatible with GCam so result will be better. HDR+ processing speed also improved on higher performance Max 3
I got both phone. And also the third one, the mi max prime, first of all! ^^.
All are rooted. But i'm in vacation. So... You need to wait. But I can allready said that mi max 3 cam is more more capable that cam of the mi max 1...

The stock one. I have trouble with magisk module and i'm unable to install camera2api...
I have both Mi Max 2 and 3, both with GCam installed (but different versions)
The Max 3 has more/different GCams available (that don't crash), and thus has better quality

You should do yourself a favor and install a custom OS anyways, and have your phone rooted
One of the reasons I prefer Android is rooted apps that give me a more pleasant experience, like Adblock, custom keyboard add-ons, Xposed
It also takes 1 second to apply the Gcam patch if your phone is rooted

What roms offer a similar feature to Xiaomi's Second Space? I feel like I would lose more features when I use a custom rom.

MIUI is getting alot better these days with all those extra features too.
we pretty much only need a custom kernel to squeeze more juice / performance from it and that's it.
I've watched almost every Mi Max 3 video on Youtube but I always noticed that the Mi Max 3 display looks really dull, colours don't pop, blacks aren't very deep.
I know this is an IPS panel, not AMOLED/OLED but what concerned me is this video . As I am coming from an iPhone 7 plus that has an IPS panel, I want the display quality to at least be somewhat equal if i'm "upgrading", I know the specs won't be better than iPhone 7 plus but I really really want a bigger screen for media consumption.
I know this video is comparing the Mi Max 2 and iPhone 7 plus but I can't find any direct comparison on the Mi Max 3. Is the Mi Max 3's display significantly better than Mi Max 2 and is it comparable to the iPhone 7 plus display?
Can anyone who have an iPhone and Mi Max 3 show comparison photos between both phones picture quality if possible? :fingers-crossed:
PS: Also are there any display issues with this Mi Max 3? Such as the "Blue Shift" when viewing off-angle?
Send me an iPhone to compare it to and I'll gladly take those pictures.

With cream and cherry on top.
Edit: Seriously though, the display is just fine.
I came from a Mi Mix 2 and even had a OnePlus 3 for some time and have nothing to complain about.

Agreed, I came from a Samsung Note 8, and it's nearly as good.
I'm also coming from a Samsung Note 8 & Note 9, and am finding that I prefer the Max 3. The picture quality and screen clarity is almost as good as both Note's. Am actually going to be returning my Note 9 and keeping my Note 8 as a back up phone. Hope that helps.

That's awesome to know because my friend has a Note 8 and that phone has an amazing display.

Also I noticed you used to own a Huawei P8Max. I actually used to own a P8 Max 2 years ago but unfortunately water damaged it while I was holidays. :crying:
Could you please let me know how is the display/picture quality of the Mi Max 3 compared to the P8 Max? Is it much better?
Also are there any pros or cons between the two devices? Or is the Mi Max 3 better than the P8 Max in every way?

I didn't find anything about HDR display
Yes it is...
On European version, YouTube supports HDR videos
