Mine is always less than or equal to 1.7GB.
Some times RAM is only 700 MB free.
Is that normal?
Is that same for everybody?
I felt app reloads are more often in MIUI 13 than in 12.
Any one else facing problems after this update?
Hi.
I've had MIUI 13 for a few weeks now and I'm also seeing apps relaunch more often than before. For RAM, I'm on an 8gb version of the Xiaomi 11 lite 5G NE and I often have about 3gb of available RAM left. I find it disturbing the applications that have to relaunch when we go to look for them in the multitasking manager. I tried disabling MIUI optimization in developer settings but that didn't change anything.
Hi @bill93
Yes, Ram management is worst in 13 as opposed to what Xiaomi promised.
Most frustrated part is when payment related pages reloads which I am facing a lot.
I have 6gb version and extended ram doesn't help at all.
Apps like Amazon are already not good and it worsen this more.
Although they promised 3 years of major Android updates I highly doubt that now based on the processor performance and ram management.
Using MI 11i lite NE 6gb, ram usage was 40% with miui12 after updating to miui13 ram is always 75% full even without opening any apps. Can't even use more than 3 apps. Camera takes for ever to load. Worst UI update from Xiaomi. Pathetic ram management.

I'm thinking of buying a Mi Max, and I was wondering, how big is the difference between the models with 3 and 4 GB RAM (in terms of speed, reliability, power consumption etc.)? Meaning, is it worth paying more for the 128GB/4GB model (if you don't really need that much storage space), or should the 64GB/3GB model do just fine (since everything else is, as I understand, the same)?
And how stable is the unofficial CM13 for it? Are there any critical components that are not working at this time?

I doubt you can feel any performance difference between any of the Mi Maxes available, only in benchmarks... Go with whatever you feel comfortable.
CM is good enough as a daily driver for many of us here, no major issues and as a matter of fact I run it from day one which was 1 week after phone came out, never ran anything else on it and my job depends on my phone... Never had problems.

CM... RR is a little too much for me. I like it simple and add what I need. Also some xposed modules made for AOSP don't work on it because code is too much altered. Never had xposed module for AOSP not working on CM. CM is the closest you can get to AOSP with enough advanced features and settings.

Yes, I like AOSP(slim would be better) + gravitybox more. Will you port slim to max please?
How's the connectivity doing on this device running CM? With Redmi Note 3, I've had were seemingly random issues such as only seeing 2G network (and not 3G/LTE), or being unable to connect to home wifi after one week.
Is it similar here?
Did you really want 64/128 gb version? I think, if phone has 32 gb internal storage, you don't need to pay more, because it's better to get MicroSD up to 256 GB (tested). If you want 2 sim cards, there is a mod, you can insert 2 sim's and MicroSD. Bought mine Snap 650 3/32 version from Xiaomi Authorized Store and tested it side by side with friends 4/128 gigs version ("best" version). And... I didn't believed my eyes, there was no difference. Snap 652 is just marketing thing, app/game performance is same as 650. Of course, more ram - more apps launched in the background, but 3 gigs is optimal (for the price). This phone is not "high end", so if price matters, get 3/32, it's the best price/performance version.
Well, yes. Here's how the current total price (including "gifts" and DHL delivery) stands between models:
128 GB - 298 EUR
64 GB - 246 EUR
32 GB - 220 EUR
So there really isn't much to think between 32 and 64.
All in all, before I decide (or change my mind), I'm also waiting for eventual comments regarding connectivity with this device running CM13 (it was bad on Redmi Note 3, and it is a game-killer).
It's your way to decide, which capacity will be enough for your needs. I didn't tested CM13 so much, but connectivities worked as good as with MIUI. Anyway, CM is not stable, you know it.
Like the others have said, from what I've heard there's no real-world difference between the 650/652 chipsets. Also note, there is a 16GB/2GB RAM version available for around £140/€155 shipped, which if you ask me is a ridiculous bargain!
I've noticed that both 32 and 64 GB models are now selling at about 209 EUR (plus delivery costs). LineageOS effect?
On the other hand, if You plan to take a load of photos / videos, or use Your phone as a music player with extra connectivity features, there's nothing wrong with hunting for a nice deal for the 128gb. It really is down to what You plan to use it for - if You're not media hungry it defeats the purpose. I got a nice deal on gearbest on the 128 - look out for flash sales - the amount of storage means I'll probably never need an sd card, but that option is there too should I be proven wrong at some point (I'm loading it up with FLAC music as soon as MIUI is out of the way).
The main difference is the 128gb has more fast internal storage, unlikely an sdcard you get will be as fast as internal.
I have the 2GB model and its fine with lineageOS. Less fine with stock rom, but still OK. 3 or 4 you will not notice the diff in daily use I personally guarantee you.
Me thinks that 3 GB would be enough. Running RR583 (hydrogen), have 1.2 const used, max 2.1 gb. With disabled big cores, the phone lives 4 days per charge.

And here I was thinking I should pay extra for the 650 to 652 jump for 2 extra big cores.
I know this topic has been discussed a few times already but i can't find the answers I'm looking for.
I don't know if i should go with the 128gb/4gb ram (helium) version or 32/gb ram (hydrogen) version.
My questions are:
1. Is there such a big difference in performance between the 4gb ram + snapdragon 652 and 3 gb ram + snapdragon 650? (~100$ price difference)
2 .Can you install hydrogen roms on helium? (miui for me doesn't seem very interesting)
The hydrogen community is a lot bigger than the helium one. (Probably because hydrogen has the same specs as the redmi note 3 pro)

Not really if you ask me. They are negligable if you won't do CPU intensive tasks. 3GB of RAM is sufficient if you ask me.
No, you certainly cannot. There are reports of folks who did this. They ended up with a hardbrick and they had to open the device up physically to flash it. MIUI is okay-ish. I would still prefer stock Android over it though.
1. I haven't used a Helium but I've read that there's no real difference in terms of real-world performance. Obviously there is a spec difference, but like I said I've read that the upgrade is so minor it's not really worth it unless you're dying for that extra internal storage. I've got the 32GB/3GB version with a 200GB Sandisk working just fine. Way more than enough storage for me!
2. I have read that you can flash Hydrogen ROMs on Helium with a few minor changes to the files (there's evidence of this in the official CM 14 thread), but like the previous poster said, I would not recommend this. Personally (and this is just my opinion...) every ROM available seems a little too buggy even for Hydrogen at the moment. The kernel source hasn't been out all that long and the source ROMs haven't had that much time to develop, so if you're looking to flash for a daily driver I'd wait a few weeks/months. (Seriously, just an opinion. I like my ROMs to be bulletproof!)

I didn't meant to flash firmwares on it. I meant use hydrogen custom roms that you install in recovery.

Well, according to a few people in this thread, Hydrogen and Helium share the same Kernel Source. So, I guess the only hold up would be optimisation for the hardware differences. i.e. getting the extra two cores online for the Helium's 652, etc.

Oh.. So there's not that much of a difference between the 650 and 652.
Get the Helium, it has more internal storage, more cores and when you go to sell it you'll get a little bit more for it.

There definitely isn't a huge difference between them, and it's debatable whether you'll see any real difference in daily use.
As ajsmsg78, you'll be able to resell the handset for a higher price later on, but you'll also be spending more to buy the 652 in the first place.
I already had a 200GB Sandisk that is only a few months old and I'm pretty used to 32GB internal storage. As I don't install many games 32GB is fine for me (I've still got 12GB internal free, and that probably won't change all that much). I use the 200GB for my entire music collection plus all photos and video I shoot.
It really is down to your particular circumstances. If you've got the dough, definitely go for the 652! 128GB internal would be great, especially when combined with a 200GB external!
If you're looking to grab a bargain, you'll be more than happy with the 650.
(When I purchased my handset the 128GB 652 was an extra $90-$100 more, which for me is a pretty big difference!)
Hello,
I'm looking into getting the mi5s (not the plus)
Not sure which one to get! But want to spend the least money.
To explain I have cloud storage, Google...
I stream everything to my phone, so 64GB storage should be plenty, but 128GB sounds tempting as I could store more videos and music.
The question I'm asking is, is there a noticeable difference between 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM?
If I could afford it now, I would go for the more expensive option, but right now I can only afford the 3GB RAM 64GB ROM version.
So should I hold out to get the 4GB RAM version just for the extra 1GB RAM? Like I say I can make do with streaming my stuff, as where I live, work and play there's always WiFi or 4G.
More RAM is always welcomed in Android.
I have 4GB 128GB version. With MIUI global 7.1.5, available RAM is always 1GB or less.
There's only 1 game app installed.

Exactly he same on my 3GB version, ~1GB free.
The fact is you can use the free RAM as a parameter.
The only OS I know that flush memory immediately is Windows, all the other OS I know give it back when need because the others use it also as "cache".
I don't have any problem with mine and the whole OS+apps are very smooth and fluid.
I would say, if you are on budget, buy 3GB version now. If you wait and you use free RAM as parameter 4GB will not be enough and you'll have to buy a 6GB device.
Atm I'm still rocking the Moto x play, and I've always got 500MB RAM free, so having a gig free on 3GB RAM phone will be an increase for me.
Would it be it be possible to block ads on the mi5s without rooting? As I want to be able to use android pay.
Edit: just realised I can block ads without root, using adblock or dns66. Though will android pay still work?
I'm thinking of getting the 3GB version.

Still remember that Moto is Stock Android and that Xiaomi is MIUI, so i guess its heavier, if u know what i mean. If u r running that low maybe your option is going for the 4GB 128GB but not the Mi5S, 'just' the Mi5 lol
The mi5 is great and it actually has development, but the Mi5S basically nothing apart from MIUI official ROMS. So the Mi5s doesnt have cm or anything like that to go to just in case u rnt sure about miui and prefer to go back to aosp

That is true. But that's temporary. When Xiaomi releases kernel sources for Mi 5s, there will be much more development as device has very affordable price for the hardware it provides which does make it rather popular...

Btw, lineageOs is more stable.
The thing is I want to be able to use android pay
I just updated to OOS12 but it's really bull$hit.
OOS 11 is also lousy upgrade. Both versions are not improve anything but lost many things.
What's they wanna do man!?
I'm thinking if they want us to switch to Coloros, so they did thats why they build last 2 versions of OOS look like China ROM. No, I will choose to throw away Oneplus Phone in the trash and never use China ROM
Please help me to revert to OOS10 on Oneplus 9 Pro. Many thank you guys!
Erhm... I hate to be the bringer of bad news but you might want to ready the trash can because the 9 Pro never ran and can't run Oxygen OS 10. Your best bet is a custom ROM
However, if you want to revert to 11 you can always use the MSM download tool:
OP9Pro - Repository of MSM Unbrick Tools (TMO, EU, GLO, IN)
By using these tools, you accept full responsibility for your actions. Your warranty is void should you run any of these utilities without OnePlus support present. I am not responsible for bricks, fires, nuclear war, etc. If you modified any...
forum.xda-developers.com
Just keep in mind that if you do go back you're out of luck when it comes to security patches
Lemme know where your trashcan is.. because OnePlus is the best phone company on the market.
More reasons than you can imagine.
- Price
- Technology
- Hardware (most phones can't even handle running PuBG without overheating and damaging the battery)
I run PuBG, while streaming on 3 platforms no problem.
- The smoothness of Stock Rom, not even other Roms run as good. Maybe more customization, but that's it.
- Oh I did I mention price, price, price.
- There Customer Service,
- Even repair service.
So lemme know where the trashcan is please, thanks.
That or whatever your paypal or cashapp is to buy it from you!
Edit: After trying to use it for the last day I'm just baffled by how this even got released. Hands down the worst update OnePlus has ever pushed out. I'm so happy I don't have to continue using it. Unlike what was reported by XDA, a factory reset does not resolve most of the bugs I ran into
Here are a few:
- Very bad reception on ATT
- No disable button for a number of apps
- Slow and shoddy animations
- No hyper touch
- Statusbar icons are confusing to me sometimes because it looks like they overlap
- The camera app is harder to use
- No circle battery icon. The stock one is harder for me to read
- Display scaling and font scaling are highly inconsistent. I constantly have to change them
- Battery life is poor compared to 11. I went from 7-8 hours to 5-6 of SOT
- Shelf is much worse
And the list goes on
Well, their software is getting more and more bloated as time goes on. It's hard to say how much of this is standard Android/Google crap and how much is Oneplus-specific, but when I went from Android 9 on my Oneplus 3T to Android 11 on Oneplus 9 I didn't even get ANY extra free RAM, despite the new phone having 2GB extra RAM(6->8). My 3T hovers around 4.5GB free after I trimmed running processes (disable though ADB), while my 9 hovers around 4.2GB... I could probably trim the 9 a bit more, but I'm certain I won't get more RAM than the 3T, it'll be equal at best.
It's ridiculous when you get less RAM after upgrading
Corect title is :
What is google doing to Oxygen OS ?
currently I have my hands on two S10+, one on Android 9 and another one on Android 11. Any1 know if there's any planned obsolescence features on Android 11 like lower battery life, bugs, and less features?
-based on 1 test, i do get higher benchmark scores on Android 11 vs. 9.
-day to day speed seems the same, I do notice Android 9 uses ~7% less RAM vs Android 11
-for the Camera, is it just me or on Android 11 the UX is worse or has less features than Android 9? I find it more difficult to changing video and picture resolution/ options gone entirely?
-camera quality: based on a limited test, Android 9 is equal or better than Android 11.
security/newest aside, do you prefer Android 9 or Android 11/12? and why?
Android 12 is good as android 9, really happy with the speed and battery duration.
I recommend you to upgrade your OS, the UI/perfomance changes are good.
Also, the little design changes and options make it worth the download.
Android 9&10 is good.. while 11 is laggy and the battery usage in a bit high. I often had to clear memory to get smooth again. Now using 12 I can say it's faster.. no animation lag everything so fluid.. batter also very good on 12
My S10+ came with Android 10. Didn't yours?
Personally I think that was the best, and at least starting from UI 2.5, everything has gotten worse. I'm currently writing a list of bugs or annoying features that came with the OneUI 3.0/Android 11 "update".

nope. i bought 2 refurbished so im guessing the Android 9 one was old stock. idk if its just my phone or all Android 9, but edge lighting doesn't work 99% of the time. Also the Android 9 version of the phone sometimes I feel it run hotter during day to day us, but not during benchmark testing. idk if its the android version or just my partciular phone.
