Hello,
I have a s20 ultra (t-mobile) and a tab s7 plus. I use to be to search for a wifi connection, my phone woild pop up and bam it turned out the hotspot and I had internet on the tablet.
Whenever I try to connect now, my phone is on the listed list under "auto Hotspot" but whenever I try to connect it says Connection Timed Out.
Anyone have any idea what might be wrong?
I have being having same issue...need help
I was also facing the same problem
But I restarted in phone and Tablet both then the problem was solved
I had done every way I could think of and I had come to the conclusion that it is because I am living in Iran and because of the sanctions I can't auto hotspot while I was trying to fix this problem that surprisingly fixed,Although I live in this country, I hate IranŲI signed out of my Samsung account from both my phones And I entered my Samsung account again and the Issue fixed

My Note II is not automatically connecting to my home network. Instead, it just tells me there is a network available and I have to manually connect it through the notification. On my Infuse, after first connection there was an option to have it auto connect every time after that, but the Note II apparently does not have an option to turn it on and off. I'm guessing it's just supposed to do it automatically no matter what? I've hit forget and re-entered the password in hopes that would help, but I still the same problem.
This is on a stock phone, btw.
Maybe it's a problem with the router. Try resetting it also.

WiFi not auto-connecting (side-question: why would you NOT want to auto-connect?)
This is a huge problem for me as well, both at home and at work. It should be noted that my other devices (mostly iOS) don't have this issue so I'm not entirely convinced it's an issue at the router. If it IS an issue at the router what might it be? Maybe switching to a different channel would help? I'll certainly give it a shot.
I'm about to have a new router at home and will report back if that makes any difference.
(On a side note --> Strangely some of my searches have led to people asking about the opposite - I might be missing something but why would you WANT your WiFi NOT to connect or turn on? With a good connection available, shouldn't everyone want to connect? Saves battery and 4G data. I'm sincerely curious so if you know please do respond to this question as well. Maybe it has to do with privacy or battery life given an unstable connection or something.)
I got the same problem.
It started when I changed the wifi router (from Fritz!box to PKN Experia V8)
Now many times the device does not connect, but uses cell phone connection (meaning it uses the resources I pay for instead of my 'free' home wifi)
So, anyone who knows the solution, please tell me. I can only use Tasker to try to reconnect automatically, but it should not be needed!
I need your help everyone. My brother is using the Galaxy S II running ICS 4.0.1 that was bought along with my S III and it is acting up. GSII is running stock ICS, and still in stock configuration. Phone is not rooted or messed with in any manner. The phone connects and stays connected to the Home Network, but data transfer stops after few seconds. All the other devices at home (laptops, PC, other phones) stay connected and works fine. Home network is through Century link and wireless is through actiontec modem and wifi router - http://www.actiontec.com/products/product.php?pid=264#.UOyOPB3aI7s). He has been using this phone with no problems with the same wireless network for almost 4 months and this issue started almost a month ago. I have no idea why it went wrong all of a sudden and not had any luck in finding a solution from all my research.
Problem: When WiFi is activated, it will connect to the home wireless network and will work for few seconds. As soon as background activity that requires data stops, the WiFi stops working. If I am browsing or a video is playing on Youtube, it will stay connected, but as soon as I exit out of the application that is pulling data, it stops working. I have to turn it off and back on again for it to work, but this issue repeats. From looking at the signal bars for WiFi, its full (I was sitting next the router) upload arrow blinks once in a while but noting on the download. None of the apps are connected to the network. Browser will show loading for a while and then displays no network connection message. I tried google play, youtube, third parts apps etc. to ensure its not just the browser. When I turn off the WiFi, the phone seams to download a bunch of messages and updates that was not being pulled for a while. My GSIII connects fine with the network and it works fine even after being idle for hours. I have no idea what is going on and would really appreciate any help. I am close to calling Samsung and T-mobile, but thought I will try here first as we all know how easy it is to deal with those guys.
Things I have tried so far: I have tried all of the following based on suggestions I read from other forums I found through google search.
1. Factory Reset the system: FAIL. After the reset was complete, I waited for everything to finish loading and then I connected to WiFi by inputting all the necessary details. Same results, will work for few seconds and stops.
2. Restart the Modem and Router: FAIL. I do not think it is modem or router related issue as my S III seams to connect and work fine.
3. Turn off the security for wireless network: FAIL. Same result as above.
4. Try different encryption: FAIL. Same result as above.
5. Forget the Network and redo: FAIL. Same result as above.
6. Change the IP address to Static in advanced settings for the network: Worked for a while and then this stopped too.
7. Change WiFi sleep policy: FAIL. Changed it to " When device sleeps", "Never" and "Always", does not make any difference.
8. Third party apps suggested by everyone: FAIL.
This is where I am at right now. I have tried to include all the information possible. Please ask me if any other information is needed.
Last resort ... try a warranty replacement.
Is the phone experiencing the same issues with other wireless networks (coffee shops, McD's)?
[Fixed]
The issue was not with the phone, but with the router/modem. This was the century link modem with wifi and router from walmart that was bought for $99. Its an actiontech router with built in modem for century link. This does not work and dont bother purchasing it. I ended up buying the NETGEAR DGND3300 RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Router with Built-in DSL Modem from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001UHMB5O/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00) for a 30 dollars more, but it works. Only extra step was that i had to call century link for my username and password that needs to be entered during the setup procedure. The actiontech from walmart did this automatically (mainly because this was a century link branded product).
Hey guys,
So all of a sudden, my wifi is searching and not connecting in a campus setting. My Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 is still connected to the same wifi my Note 4 was. I have tried rebooting, removing battery, shutting off and on data and wifi, and airplane mode. Nothing reconnects it. Also tried forgetting all networks since there are 5 when searching for networks it finds and reconnecting to one, still no dice. It's been 4 hours, still can't reconnect. Any ideas?

Have you tried to forget the network and then ADD it with + Add Wi-Fi network? I actually had an issue playing with a Galaxy note 10.1 2012 edition, I turned my hotspot (sprint note 4) on and named it the same as our current network (was showing how open networks aren't always the network they say and anybody can create a Starbucks-Guest network.... I used starbucks-guest because I didn't want to put my schools on here). The tablet didn't see the network even after reboots, but when I added the network manually it connected right away. Also was this connecting to the same access points or different ones on the other side of campus?
Yep tried forgetting, re-adding the wifi spot and nothing.
I've been having wifi connection issues since day one of getting this phone.
Not sure if I have the same problem.
But at least once a day, it seems the phone can no longer make a connection to my wifi.
The only solution is to either just power off the phone and restart or do what Sprint asked me to do.
Sprint said to try and reset the network connection information by dialing ##72786#
The phone will power off and then restart do some background stuff and then power off again and restart.
Once that is done, all is fine.
I've never had this happen on any other of my Android devices. I even use a static IP with my phone setup.
And yes, I have tried just using the default of DHCP.
I had thought it was my router (Asus RT-AC68U) which transmits both 2.4ghz and 5ghz. I have both setup and I try to use 5ghz the most.
I did upgrade the router software because I was one version behind, but that did not fix anything.
Also, I had a Sprint femocell in my house (provided for free from Sprint) because I had bad signal issues years ago.. But because this phone uses LTE and now it seems the phone comes with built-in WiFi Calling. (Means instead of using the cellular network it will use my network and ISP to make Sprint calls, all voice and text messages come through normally, it's basically a built-in femocell).
I returned that, whoops still in the box, need to get that mailed out fast.
I'm not sure how widespread this issue is, but I suspect it's bigger that just the two of us here. And if I'm in the wrong thread, please let m know.
Thanks
Rob
Is anyone else having issues connecting to wifi? When I try to connect to wifi at my house, I get a pop-up error saying "AP currently not in use. Internet connection slow." If I click retry, it comes up again. If I click cancel, it says "Failed to obtain IP" and is not connected.
I have tried restarting my model/router with no luck. My Note 3, laptop, and other devices have no problem connecting to this wifi network...
I had a problem with wifi, but sounds different then your issue.Mine would just disable after obtaining ip.Samsung rep at best buy reflashed phone. That saved all data and apps.AND,it fixed wifi.If you can't work thru your issue,go to best buy or att store and get it reflashed.Cant hurt.
Good luck.

OK, so went to the ATT store today and they reflashed my phone. Got home just now and tried to connect to wifi, same issue
Is anyone else having this problem?
Fixed it.
SOLUTION: I changed my router encryption type from WEP to WPA and now it works no problem
Try rebooting your router, I had the same issue the first day I got mine and a reboot fixed it.

This is a forum, please read. At the very least, read the OP if you're going to post something....
Anyway, already solved.

Your neighbors are going to be pissed. They can't steal your wireless any more.
Seriously... You did yourself a favor... WEP = ROFL stupidity for wireless networks.

No go for me I just Got my N4 from Verizon last monday and having the same issue u had. I changed my encryption from wep to wap and still same problem. Ima go to a verizon store and see if the "reflash" the phone like some suggest here. Might help my problem
Hi all,
I also experience the same issue from time to time. I have this happen on both my home network (WPA2-Personal) and work (WPA2-Enterprise). My fix is to either reboot the phone or activate Airplane Mode for about 20 seconds and then disable Airplane Mode. After doing that, wifi picks right up for me. YMMV.
I can try to get the exact error log messages from our networking technician at work if it would be helpful to anyone.
Out of curiosity, do any of you have other peripherals connected at the time you experience the issue (Pebble Watch, etc.)?
Same issue
With my GN4, I can connect to my home WIFI no problem and my GF's WIFI no problem but when I go to my Dad's, I CANNOT connect to his WIFI (Netgear WTG624v3) but both of my sisters with a Samsung Tab 3 and Samsung S4 CAN connect to my Dad's WIFI. It's really aggravating. Basically, when I try to connect, it says "connecting" "saved" Then it says "scanning", and says "connecting" "saved" again and again ..... But never connects.
I have tried changing just about every WIFI setting on his router including resetting the router. Tried removing the encryption making an "Open" network and STILL can't connect... and tried every encryption type provided and still nothing. I set the dynamic address range from .4 to .254 (on router) so I could try connecting with a static address to 192.168.1.2 / .3 and still nothing. I tried removing my GN4 browser cache, and setting it to airplane mode(20 secs)... nothing.
I'm at a loss.. given that both of my sisters with two different devices can connect to my Dad's WIFI but I can't with my GN4? But I can connect my GN4 to other WIFI networks, no prob.
UPDATE: Next, I will try downgrading the firmware version on the router to an earlier version. Hopefully, that's the solution. I will report my findings here.
Downgrading or using an older Firmware version for this Netgear WTG624v3 router DID THE TRICK!
If anyone else is having the inability to log into a WIFI router, try installing an older router Firmware version. I got the idea from here:

GS6 Edge - New WiFi problems - Wont connect to work WiFi anymore
Ive had my GS6 Edge for a few months now and never had WiFi connection problems at work.
My family and I recently went on a 17 day road trip, staying at hotels along the way. Of course we wanted to use the WiFi where we stayed, and also at misc. restaurants along the way too.
Now that Im back at work, for some reason my phone wont connect to any of the secure wifi networks at my job. I use the same credentials as I did before, but all I get is "Authentication Error" when it wont connect. The IT guys say nothing has changed with the settings. I even had one of the IT guys try to fix it on my phone with no success. I have no problem connecting to my secure network at home however.
I downloaded WiFi Manager and "forgot" any old networks that I dont use anymore. Ive even tried clearing the cache in recovery. Im not rooted either.
Anyone else have similar problems, or know how to fix this?
