Will Googled Play Store Ever Be Cracked? - LineageOS Questions & Answers

I'm using LineageOS on my phone.
Why hasn't anyone come up a way to use Google Play store apps without Google Play Store being installed? Something like that would be a 2 bit Crack in Windows. Why is it harder in Android? Shouldn't it be easier since Android is (sort of) a distro of an open source OS? What makes it so rediculous is that GPS is only needed for in-app ads and has nothing to do with the app itself. Most of the time, the app DOES work anyway for me, but a few apps that I really want to use, don't. Do the apps just look for a flag somewhere that indicates that GPS is installed, or do they actually communicate with the GPS?
I'd love to the crack myself, but very sadly, I'm not a programmer. I wanted to be but I couldn't even handle Visual Basic, forget about a serious programming language like C whatever or Python. Maybe I should try one of those coding for idiots classes that are all over the place. Apparently they teach programming a different way than how it's usually taught? I guess I'm not capable of learning programming the normal way.

I rarely use Playstore. You can use another phone to install the app on then make an installable copy with Apk Export. I backup all my apps like that. Makes reloads and repairs much easier and quicker.

You *can* use Play Store apps without GPS, it just depends on the app itself - if the app doesn't use any proprietary Google Play Services APIs, then it'll work fine.

Not really, since Google Play Services is closed source and proprietary, and the apps which use these services are also generally closed-source.

GPS are used for several features, such as (and not limited to):
- Push Notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
- Location services (fused location provider)
- Account authentication (Google Sign-in / Firebase Authentication)
- In-App Purchases and Payments
- Maps (if using Google Maps APIs)
- Gaming (syncing save data to cloud, achievement tracking etc)
- Analytics (Firebase Analytics)
- Device certification / root detection (SafteyNet)
- ... and much more

As mentioned above, GPS provides several features and functionality missing from stock Android (AOSP). It's not just a dummy flag.
To get back to your original question, there are a few solutions:
1) Use microG - it's an open-source reimplementation of various GPS APIs. It's a work-in progress, so only a few features work, and some features will never work (such as IAPs). But depending on the apps and features you use, it might just be able to meet your requirements.
2) Switch to GrapheneOS, which supports running Google Play Services in a Sandbox, with limited privileges and potentially lesser battery drain.
3) Stick to open-source apps, as these tend to avoid using proprietary Google APIs. These can be typically found on the F-Droid store.
4) In addition to #3, consider switching to an easy-to-use de-Googled ROM with a working set of essential apps/functionality (such as location services and push notifications), that work fine without GPS. Examples of these ROMs include CalyxOS and /e/ OS.

But there is: Aurora

All the stuff that the Google Play Store has but without the need to login.I have met only few apps that don't work - some ****ty apps like ebay enforce Google Service Framework GSF.

I thought I'll compile a list of IMP apps that are missing. If someone knows a decent alternative to these please suggest.
1. Amazon
2. Kindle - I know this is coming
3. Skype
4. Good IM app - Like Fringe or Palringo
5. Comics reader - comixology (DC or Marvel)
6. Ustream or QIK
7. Dropbox or an app for SkyDrive

7 Private Chat ...an app from android that locks ur fone and gives u 2 passcodes it gives u a dummy code that will open another app and a real code to get u to ur text messages
Opera Mini - absolutely
BTW, InternetExplorer doesn't support my banks online banking

There's also WhatsApp.

Microsoft said they won't disallow apps that duplicate functionality, but I don't know if they'll allow you to change the default browser.
That would be very bad. Opera Mini is even available on iPhone.

after how many years though?
the reason you won't see opera/firefox/chrome on wp any time soon is due to the restrictions still on the languages. wp uses VB/C#, which does not allow for C++ which a lot of these more complex programs are written in. Though OEMs have capabilities to write native code.
I am pretty satisfied for the most part with the apps on my HD7 but I do want Skydrive integration and limited multitasking for apps like LastFM.
Bing also should be updated to match the superior iPhone app.
Many things have to be improved.
IE is great but lacks support for many features.
I got an app for amazon in "testing" in the marketplace. I can give out the xap if you like it, It's gonna be free anyway.
It has limited functionality at this time, but I'm improving it as I found new things to add.

1. Official Google Voice App - I know it might be a problem to intercept outgoing calls and/or using GV when you tap "Send Text" from the People Hub, but an official app from Google would probably be more fluid than what's available now. GVoice is a good solution for now, but it could use some small improvements. Who better to do that than Google?
2. I know emulators are not allowed, but I'd like to see a homebrew PSX and SNES Emulator. I'd definately pay the developer for it, Paypal maybe since Marketplace won't allow it... that's how it's done for WinMo.
3. BeyondPod

Google Play Store (Android Market) v3.5.15
Requirements: Android v2.2+
Overview: Play Anywhere, All your entertainment in one place, Google Play is your one-stop shop for all your favorite entertainment.
ChangeLog:
- You now have the Installed and All tabs you can swipe between. The former one is what we used to have before - it lists all apps installed on your device. The latter lists all apps you've ever installed in case you want to download them again or travel down the memory lane. This is quite handy, and I've seen this list before in the Play Store on the web, so it's great to get it here in the mobile app.
- The All tab contains a handy dropdown with all your accounts (if you added more than one) and lets you switch between them very easily (as opposed to clicking Menu, etc).
- The list of apps you have purchased but uninstalled or haven't installed yet has moved to the All tab... which means it's now mixed in with the free apps you no longer have on the device. I'm not sure how I feel about that - on one hand, I like that it's gone from the first list, but ideally there should be a way to filter paid apps from free in the All list. Maybe someday...
- A few of the stock apps that apparently never got linked to the Play Store before got identified and picked up this time, and updates to such orphans were waiting for me when I fired the Store up. I've complained about this very bug in my last rant, and it looks like someone listened.
- Just like in the web Play Store:
# reviews now show the device used by the reviewer
# reviews can now be sorted by Most Helpful first or Newest first
# you can now filter reviews to show ones for the latest version of the app as well as made by only the device you are using
Installation Guide:
1.Download the apk from the links
2.put the apk on the phone ,don't use adb install *.apk in won't work it will say it already exists
3.Open the apk from the phone using a File explorer (ASTRO for example)
4.it will ask you if you want to replace the current market, press yes.
5.wait for install and voila you have the new market
NOTE:this method replaces the old market.

Troubleshoot:
If you have download problem after Installing new market do this
" Connect your phone to your computer,
set in usb mass storage mode. Look for
a hidden folder called ".android_ secure"
and then delete the file
"smdl2tmp1 .asec". Unmount and you
should be good to go."

Oh thanks so much!!
Thanks. It works. Is there any way to delete installed application history?

These are the ones I disabled and had no problems, pretty sure most of the apps won't really do anything if you disable/delete them. I would try them out disabled first then if everything is fine then delete them.
Alright I will disable them for a while.. removing them would give me ~150mb

Quickoffice is part of 4.2 stock - it's a MS Office viewer - you shouldn't see any negative results when you remove/disable it if you're using Kingsoft.
If you have any other specific QO questions, let me know!
Hi,
Just my two cent, dont delete or freeze FusedLocation (it's related to GPS and network) otherwise your phone will stuck on the bootanimation with a vibrating loop.
Strange that just a system app related to GPS and network do that but it's the case, tested twice (one with deleting the app and another one by freezing the app with Titanium) and I ended to the same result.
My question is this; I have frozen several of the above mentioned.. When we get the OTA updates will that impact the update at all?
When I was with draconian Verizon, the OTA would not occur unless all stock apps were visible/available.
Also, when I tried to uninstall the Google apps from the play store, it merely uninstalled the *updates*, not the app itself. I use TB to freeze or uninstall.
Rooted Nexus 4
I use titanium backup and uninstall a lot of apps.. Live wallpaper talkback pico tts magazines, Books Google music, Google chrome using AOSP browser, weather and news, Google Wallet doesn't work anyways!! Movie editor. There a quite too much to remember.. But No problems at all:good: Most of the ROMS actually remove some stuff...
Btw backup your apps you wanna uninstall.Uninstall it if your phone gives you problem then you know don't remove it!!

[APP]Google Maps Update v8.0

Google Maps Gets A Huge Update To v8.0 With Better Offline Maps Management, Lane Guidance In Navigation, And More [APK Download]
What's New
Before we dig in, here's what's new in v8.0. Items in italics are not on Play Store list.
Turn-by-turn navigation now displays distance, arrival time, and quick access to alternate routes
Save and manage offline maps in a custom list for when you're traveling or have a slow connection
Transit results now display total walking time of your trip and the next scheduled bus or train
Sign in to see your “Places to review” list from recently saved or searched-for places
If you have the Uber app installed, open it right from Google Maps when comparing route options
Bug fixes
Lane guidance in navigation mode (US and parts of Canada/Japan)
Adjust and name offline maps before saving
Search filters (price rating, open, from circles)
The Navigation app gets a slight UI tweak this time that brings it more in line with Google's new aesthetic. Navigation also includes easier access to alternative routes and other relevant data about your trip. For some reason, Google didn't include lane assistance in the changelog.

Question Any luck flashing the T-Mobile firmware to a global variant?

I have a global variant OnePlus 9 pro. It seems that my phone may not have the full features that T-Mobile has to offer with their variant of the phone. I'm also noticing that with the new Google dialer that's been implemented, I'm unable to get the visual voicemail working (see picture for what it prompts). I guess the question here really is, would the T-Mobile firmware resolve issues like this or is this more of a sim card/carrier issue?

The regular tmobile variant doesn't even give you vvm via the dialer (op dialer) because you get to use their crappy vvm app where you are asked to pay for additional services.
If you want vvm, download their app.

I've seen threads on reddit and other forums where people had the native visual voicemail working and it was fully functional. I would imagine that there should be a fix for this. Their vvm app is trash so I'm not planning on doing that.

They probably used Magisk mods/fingerprint changes to make the Google Dialer work fully on their phones. Iirc, changing the fingerprint to a Pixel device not only "unlocks" visual voicemail within the Google Dialer, as well as transcription (if you pay for it, that is), but also call screening. However, as I mentioned in the thread detailing how to do that (here), it creates a lot of unintentional side effects. Also, as I mentioned, there IS a difference between VVM (which is free and simply allows you to listen to voicemails without actually dialing into your VM) and transcribed voicemails (which is the voicemail-to-text feature). Either CAN be accessed without T-Mobile's proprietary software, but the latter must be added to your monthly bill to actually work.

Would something like this be a viable root method with the additional mods that are added in this guideline? I don't want to cause unnecessary system app problems nor brick the device. It seems that the OnePlus 9 pro has the google dialer installed out of the box, mine being the global edition straight from OnePlus

Well, if you use any kernels or Magisk modules geared at specific devices (such as this one) you might run into some problems due to the device's fingerprint. Nothing potentially bricking or the like. Kernels and modules won't flash/install. They'll simply stop at the device validation and exit. With modules, the good thing is a lot of them aren't device-specific (with the exception of some geared at Samsung or OP devices, for example), and even if you run into problems with those, they're easily removed via recovery. Kernels, on the other hand, are a different beast. Any issue with those requires flashing the original boot.img (which will remove root, btw).
The only major issue I ran into with this mod, on my 7T, was with updating the ROM (via Oxygen Updater, anyway) and the kernel (for example, EX Kernel, which balks when it sees the device fingerprint, and cancels the flashing process). There might be ways to bypass these restrictions, but I wasn't able to find any, so I ended up having to revert the fingerprint changes to flash those, then re-do the fingerprints and Dialer setup again. This was on OOS 10, by the way. So with 9 Pro and OOS 11, the conditions might differ. YMMV.
