Question Voice Typing Repeat of Words as a New Sentence - Google Pixel 6 Pro

Does anyone experience an occasional repeat of a part of a sentence when voice typing?
For example, if I say say "I will see you on Tuesday" it will type "I will see you on Tuesday. You on Tuesday."
It happens to me maybe 15% of the time.
Still on the November update.

Yeah, mine will repeat the whole sentence over again every now and then

Hasn't happened to me before. Regular problems I get with voice typing are words getting falsely identified (my pronunciation leans more to British English, and it seems that Voice Typing favors American English). Plus, I have to "concentrate" on "properly" pronouncing every syllable, otherwise it won't work properly.
Punctuation also seems to be a hit and miss - I usually speak in multi-cause sentences ("long" sentences) with a lot of commatas... and, quite frankly, that AI is not up to the task.
(yes, I use the "new" GBoard Voice Typing)

Yep, happens to me sometimes.

Still happening, the December (really January) update didn't fix it.
It's really annoying. It may be related to the constant insistence on adding punctuation, although why does it repeat a part of the sentence is puzzling.

Yes many times that is why i just turned off the assistant voice typing feature.
It will also always add a space in front of what you start saying.
So if you have a habit of putting the cursor where you want the word say one space from the next, then there will now be two.

Letters/keys skipped when typing in WM6 (ONLY in the messaging application)

When I am typing in the messaging application, I find that many of my key presses are ignored, seeming as though I am not able to spell or use proper punctiation, even though I have actually tapped the correct keys.
My messages might look like the following:
"Thaks fo your message. I was nt able to take the call at th time buI will be avaiable after 6pm. Thanks again!"
This is really annoying. It ONLY happens in the messaging application. I can type an entire document in Word without a single problem but I correct numerous mistakes in emails and text messages in order to avoid looking like a moron to recipients of my messages.
Is there anything I can do to correct this problem? I am using the Black Edition ROM right now and thought that this version fixed the problem. I also Experienced it with the LVSW versions and the other before that. I did not experience it in WM5 at all...

I have the exact error with all the WM6 roms, very very frustrating
I too sometimes get this problem, normally at the start of a text if I start typing quickly. it doesn't happen all the time tho only occasionally. using the lvsw rom at the moment but also had it with the SA WM5 rom
I've got this problem too, but in WM5.
same here on WMXL 0.2
I have noticed this on other WM5 devices but never on the Hermes until now. Is there something that changed in the messaging application that can be changed back to the way it was in WM5...hopefully via a registry edit?

I had this problem but it went away after I selected the option to have word completion only select words after typing six letters. If you have it set to do it after pressing the space bar it seems to cause a delay in typing the text after a key press.
I agree with nmonger, I have alleviated the problem by setting the autocomplete to only suggest after 3 letters (it was set to "a space" before). Also I have made it only suggest 2 words (it was set to 4).
I had this from day 1, it`s just not designed to work that fast...
i hope it`s a driver problem and not keyboard hardware problem.

So far this seems to have solved my problem. Thanks!
I knew it had something to do with the word completion. I set it to suggest 1 word but it keeps suggesting four. I just changed it to after 3 letters and solved my problem. Thank you for pointing that out. Now i don't look drunk when messaging at 11am!
Thank the man above someone else is having this issue as well....trying the word completion trick and seeing what happens.
worked for me - great solutions thanks
BINGO! an obvious solution in hindsight... thanks
cheers for that guys, it was one of those things that had bugged me for a while but not enough for me to look for a fix untill someone else mentioned it.

Worked for me
I was just thinking about how often I had this issue today. I was SURE I was pressing all the keys. I tried turning word completion off and that didn't seem to change anything (strange). I'll give changing it to 6 a try, that makes sense.
I have noticed this problem on the Dash, Blackjack, Universal, and a few other Windows Mobile devices...all WM 5 and newer. This is the first time I have seen a solution. I don't think this worked on any of those devices and that is why I posted. I thought there was going to be a more complicated fix on this phone too!
What really stuns me is the lack of complaining about the skipping issue on other devices, such as those that I mentioned, as I am sure I am not the only one who sees this happening on multiple devices.
I thought it was all down to me being lazy, a bad speller and having thumbs too big for the small keyboard.
Trying the solution and all seems well so far.
thanks a lot, it's working

Keyboard lagging and dropping letters on WM6

I've noticed with the cooked roms (both LSVW and Black) have an issue with keypad lag and dropping letters.
I text message and e-mail rather fast. When i slide out the keyboard and start typing a text message or e-mail, the letters lag behind what i am typing (which is fine). But when the words catch up i notice some of the letters that i typed in were dropped from some of the words. The only way to prevent letters dropping is to wait 3-5 seconds EVERY TIME before i start typing. I noticed this lag and dropping letters only happens right after the phones switches to landscape.
I dont i ran into this problem with the factory rom. And with the MDA Vario and Cingular 8125, i would experience the lag, but when it caught up no letters were dropped. Are there any fixes for this?
That's been a problem for me since I got my Hermes. I think I'll wait a few months after it's been released next time I buy an HTC product. Too many problems with early versions, if you ask me.
Try reducing the auto complete...
When mine was in the default settings, it was suggesting four words as soon as I typed the second letter of each word - net result a busy processor and lags in typing...
I have now set it to suggest just two words after four letters and emails and texts are now a delight to type! (It does however also affect the auto suggest for email and text addressing so I now have to type four letters of someones name to get suggestions
Well if i turn off or limit autocomplete... that kinda defeats the purpose. I shouldnt have to step down my settings for it to work. I really dont think this is a hardware problem. There has to be some kind of fix for this...
As i said, roms with my mda vario and 8125 dont lag during typing text or emails. I have autocomplete suggestions set on MAX and it works perfectly...
even on the normal rom versions my hermes drops letters...
so no big deal for me

Trust me it will work ... am using
- suggest after entering 3 letters (instead of space)
- suggest 3 words
Works like a charme ...

Voice commands not understanding context

I was driving home from work yesterday. I happened to pick up my phone and see that my wife called. So I hold the Windows key and say "Call home".
.
.
.
.
It pauses and then says "searching for 'call home'".
It can't be serious. How does it not know that I was saying "call home" not "FIND call home".
It clearly heard me say "call home", yet for some reason pulled up Bing and searched for the phrase "call home".
Happen for anyone else? How the hell do I change that? Because I've definitely said "call home" in the past and it worked.
Mine doesn't even recognise what I say :l
I eventually start screaming at my phone :'(
Is Home actually your contact's name?

Err, some of my suggestion after few attemps now works more better.
I usually use voice command to do simple texting and call my girlfriend.
I press windows key, wait for the prompt, then say call / text (pause for awhile) Cha Lee (pause for awhile) mobile, which will let me to call /text her mobile number.
Just keep in mind that the name you speak after the call / text command must be the same in the contact.
I'm having problems with voice commands too.
Mango seems to have screwed it up. It worked much better on NoDo.
On NoDo, whenever I say Start "App name", it recognizes it on the first go and starts it.
On Mango, when I try to do the same thing(same accent and everything), it either 1. Searches Bing 2. Call one of my contacts 3. Application could not be found.
I think it's an OS issue.
Another example: Wanted to test Voice-To-Text, so I said "I just updated my phone to Mango". It came out "I just updated my phone to angel".
How does angel rhyme with mango? This was done in a quiet environment.
Perhaps it's an issue caused by forcing Mango?
I forced mine. Anyone with un-forced Mango having similar issues?
The pronunciation of angel and mango is pretty similar...
I don't know, it's worked pretty well for me for the most part, but voice recognition still has a long way to go.
Good replies here.
Yeah the contact is just the one word "Home" and our home line. And it worked just fine before.
I think acefiredx may be on to something. Maybe a bug in Mango. And yes I forced mine, although it wouldn't make any sense for that to be the issue. I could be wrong though, my 'coding' days were with QBasic.
It may be because the way you talk. The same way accents and things like that can fool the human ear, it can definitely fool a phone.
I don't talk slow, but I can say "Call <x> mobile" all day long and the phone does fine.
That being said, I've not big on voice command and barely use it, anyways - like 90% of the world.

To be honest, unless you're getting to Moon-like interaction, then yeah, voice commands aren't that useful.
When would you use them? If you're with or around even one person, you're not or you'll feel like a douche. And if you're alone it's weird to talk outloud to a computer, it also doesn't inconvenience you to navigate with your fingers.
Driving is the only thing. But like I said, only if it's sci-fi grade. Is Siri? I'm sure it has some neat tricks to understand humans, but no, it can't be. If it were, then Apple just discovered real AI.
-edit-
Although I just sent a text without pushing a button. Ok that was pretty cool.
AND I tried the "call.. home". And that worked. So maybe I was talking too fast who knows.
Same problem here, but it`s funny... one time i said "find little dog" and the phone searched for "legal drug" wtf
I have a question DO I NEED INTERNET FOR VOICE SMS? because when i connect it to PC and try to send a voice sms it works. but when i disconnect it doesn't recognise nothing and keep 'thinking'.

Yes you need internet.. it send your voice to your carrier i think and than it comes back with the words.. its I think for regionalization.. to identify your accent and not just uniform american accent accross all phones.. also it would take a lot of memory to save all those voice commands on phone.

This is exactly what I means, give a small pause after each voice command.
Glad that works for you. I always used that to call and text when I'm driving.
(Of coz with a headset on)
Yes, the following command has worked in the past. Seems that my arrive is just getting problematic. I can't use the flashlight anymore as the touch bottons on the front are too sensitive. I even have issues turning the phone off. I have to hold it on the top part of the size. Back on topic.
Call, louie's burger
Searching for Call Louie's Burger
Call, louie's burger
Searching for Hola Leesburg
Call, louie's burger
Searching for Carl Beber
I think I am getting trolled.
The only thing I use it for is to have SMS conversations while I'm walking down the street. Because when it's 25 degrees outside you don't want to take your glove off just to respond. However, I've been noticing it missing texts. I feel the Vibrate and hear the Notification tone, but it doesn't give me to option to have it read or reply to it.
But it's the only phone I have that allows me to do that, so I deal with it. The accuracy when dictating texts is much better than Google. ALMOST on par with Vlingo. The server round trips are very long, though...
^ Might want to check that in the settings...
However. I find that the voice input is not good at all, even worse with Mango. If you actually use "WhatIs" App, it is defintely way better in actually saying what it is.

Today on wp7 " call home " and it binged "taliban"...three attemtps failed.
Today on siri ... doesn't matter... it works every single time.. for everything.
Today, on android through my jacket (phone in pocket) with a dirt bike running "navigate to trailhead purdy" and it started navigation to the exact location I asked. Open dualsportmaps worked, starting plotting a gps (gpx) track immediately. "Text wife mobile im lost but ok, be home late".... all through my jacket.. wow

It's checked, that's why I said it misses them. It gets one and then fails to trigger on the next one.
I find the Speech Recognition for texting rather decent. I think the server round trips are excessive, though. I boxed up my Vibrant to use the HD7 as a daily driver and the biggest issue I'm having with the "transition" is the lack of Vlingo's voice service on WP7. On Android you can use their app and you can also set Vlingo as the default speech service for the phone to use in the settings. It's much more accurate and round trips a lot faster than TellMe.
Also, there are too few places where you can dictate text into input boxes (no Mic on the keyboard).
I think that will hurt them in the long run, though, since they won't be collecting as much speech data as Google/Apple does on their devices.
Great point
I wanted to bring this up after playing with my Focus S for a while I notice that my original Focus understands alot more items. I find it harder now to call people using voice dial on the Focus S as it was very easy on the predecessor.

[Q] Google Captcha

Guys I get these all the time, and it's really annoying. When I'm driving, I use google voice actions a ton. When it asks me to type in a captcha, I pretty much throw a nutty. I've searched up and down and found no way to stop these things from popping up. I'm not even sure why they do.
On top of that, they're so damn small and distorted I can barely read them. I end up doing 3 or 4 of them, and I don't even know if it's because I type it wrong or something else.
Is there a way to stop these things from appearing all the time, especially inopportune times?!
Halp Please!!!

Problems with voice to text.

anyone have a problem with voice to text? Every time i use it, it misses the first couple of words or screws it all up. VERY LAGGY Any way to fix this problem,??
I have noticed this and have no idea how to fix it, but I've learned to wait an extra second or two to start talking after hitting the microphone button, and it seems to work okay when I do that. Never noticed this behavior on other phones, I don't think.
What I have noticed on any other phone is that voice-to-text will sometimes insert the word 'oh' before a comma. Annoying. Tried the fixes I found online but the problem persists.
