Cannot attach text file to post - About xda-developers.com

Sometimes when attaching a text file to a post, it uploads successfully but the file is never actually attached.
Attached to this post you can find a ZIP archive (attaching it obviously works). This archive contains a text file which is impossible for me to attach.
If for some reason it is not allowed to upload this text file, it should at least show an error message...

test
edit: it seems to upload fine, but doesn't show when I post.

@MikeChannon
Extracted the txt-file from the above zip file and tried to upload the log-camera.txt but failed. During the upload process the "moving upload bar" runs from left to right but at the end the file isn't uploaded.
This effect was already reported in the Better-Battery-Stats (BBS) thread; also that the issue obviously wasn't realted to the filename but probably to some content of the txt-file. In the BBS thread some logs could be uploaded as txt and some couldn't.

Yes, it certainly appears to be related to something within the text that is blocking it. Other text files are uploading and indeed parts of this txt file upload ok.
So it's likely getting scteened, though if you can just zip it then the screening isn't very effective.
I'll see if I can find out more, but that may take quite some time. Meanwhile zipping works I suppose, though frustrating obviously.

[Q] How to edit (HSMenuItem).rbm

Well, I just found where all the icons are stored. It's HSMenuItem.rbm in the RSRC1 file (folder RSRC/BMP/Black). If we could edit this, we could finally add helpful Java applications with the right (or selfmade!) icons.
Now, we can open and view rbm files in Wave Remaker, but is there also any way to edit them?

Try to find Pics of same Format... maybe you can replace them.
At the moment no new Pics possible...

So, you already tried replacing? I noticed, same resolution, bpp, metod and mode don't necesarily mean same file size - so these files might be compressed. I then took a look at them using a hex editor and saw repeating structures inside which shouldn't be there in a compressed file. Duh...
Is Wave Remakers source code available? Cause, if it is, we could learn how these pictures are read.

T-Mobile GS3 "SamsungCamera.odex" file request

Greetings!
I originally posted a troubleshooting question relating to file naming conventions and the inability to rename a file once it has been erroneously named....
short version: I am requesting the "SamsungCamera.odex" file from the T-Mobile Galaxy S3 phone. Mine is corrupted and as such I cant utilize the camera or the video camera on the phone.. (not too fun on a brand new phone...)
For the long version(or to help me see how/why this happened or how to fix it the correct way... please see this thread.
Thank you, in advance, for anyone that can please help me to fix this incredibly annoying problem.

Here you go, dude. (.odex isn't listed as a valid file extension for upload on the forum, so I zipped it.)

Thank you so much!!!!
I'm going to try placing that file in the /system/app folder right now and hopefully that will restore stock functionality to the video camera!
Will follow up!
Thank you a million! .. quite sincerely!
That worked like a charm!
Dropped the (correctly named) SamsungCamera.odex file in the /system/app folder, renamed the modified camera apk to ".apk.modded" and renamed the original apk file back to ".apk" extension and viola: Instant camera functionality.
Thank you, again, so much.
You've literally made my day!
Thank you.
Hi! Could you upload the original SamsungCamera.apk, please? Because when I'm tried to install HX Camera mod, i put the two files into a zip, when the Root Browser crashed. The two files were gone, and the zip became corrupt. After this, i put the mod to system\app. On the first run, it worked, but after a while it crashed. I run the camera again and it crashed after a time, again, and again. So I decided to try the video. And now it doesn't even want to start. So that's why i request the stock camera, and please upload as soon as possible. Thanks.

Dont remember what apk its in. Its either in /system/app/systemui.apk, /system/framework/com.htc.resources.apk, or /system/framework/framework-res.apk. Use a zip manager like 7zip to open the apk and look for the pic file. When you find it, just copy and paste it to your desktop.
EDIT: Actually i think its in /system/app/phone.apk
Thread moved to Q&A, please post in appropriate forum in future.

Devdb archives?

Hello, since the removal of devdb, were there any efforts made to archive devdb content before it was deleted? Its such a shame that alot of hidden gems became lost media such as zit flasher got erased.

Technically nothing was deleted, the DevDB files just were not migrated to the new servers.

They are to be available again according to this post.
Any updates to this may be posted in Post #1 or Post #2
Finally had some time to set this up!
DevDB downloads are available here: https://devdb.xda-developers.com/
https://devdb.xda-developers.com/
Tip:
Search for a filename or a unique part of the file name.
After you find one file copy the link and paste it somewhere like a search bar.
you will get a link like this.
https://devdb.xda-developers.com/3/1/8/0/otterx-u-boot_v2.01.zip
Remove the file name and this is the link to the folder with all files from that project.
https://devdb.xda-developers.com/3/1/8/0/
Or you can navigate to folders 3/1/8/0 for example.

Server seems to be a bit unstable at the moment.
When using the search function after tapping 2 or 3 characters the website freezes (tested on Firefox Beta and Chrome stable, both mobile). See attached screenshots.
Nevertheless nice to have it and I'm sure that are just some starting difficulties.

same here, if you wait a bit it usually allows you to continue typing, or try pasting text.
Actually it is just not really meant for scale. The search is slow and likely involves a lot of Javascript so it's freezing the browser.
There are just a lot of files that are only important for a handful of people that I can tell, I wanted to keep them accessible. If anyone wants to mirror them, please let me know and I will rsync them to your server. It's about 2.7TB

citing posts

cc: @IronTechmonkey, @pocketrule
I see posts cited in a way that provides a link to a specific post, but the text displayed with the link is the beginning of the first post in the thread containing the cited post.
What mechanism is being used to insert such a link?
Can the mechanism be modified so that the text displayed with the link is taken from the post being cited?

Is this is the same thing as #7 in Known Bugs/Regressions:?
"Unfurl"ed URL links to posts sometimes show a preview of the OP instead of the correct post (e.g. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/welcome-to-xda-2021.4197018/post-84073623

I've seen this as well but as I prefer to plain link without any inserted post section I change the unfurl parameter to false to force link only.

I believe it's always, except in some cases when the link is inline and shows no preview.
