Technically nothing was deleted, the DevDB files just were not migrated to the new servers.

Finally had some time to set this up!
DevDB downloads are available here: https://devdb.xda-developers.com/

https://devdb.xda-developers.com/
Tip:
Search for a filename or a unique part of the file name.
After you find one file copy the link and paste it somewhere like a search bar.
you will get a link like this.
https://devdb.xda-developers.com/3/1/8/0/otterx-u-boot_v2.01.zip
Remove the file name and this is the link to the folder with all files from that project.
https://devdb.xda-developers.com/3/1/8/0/
Or you can navigate to folders 3/1/8/0 for example.

Server seems to be a bit unstable at the moment.
When using the search function after tapping 2 or 3 characters the website freezes (tested on Firefox Beta and Chrome stable, both mobile). See attached screenshots.
Nevertheless nice to have it and I'm sure that are just some starting difficulties.

same here, if you wait a bit it usually allows you to continue typing, or try pasting text.

Actually it is just not really meant for scale. The search is slow and likely involves a lot of Javascript so it's freezing the browser.
There are just a lot of files that are only important for a handful of people that I can tell, I wanted to keep them accessible. If anyone wants to mirror them, please let me know and I will rsync them to your server. It's about 2.7TB

Path problem?

Hi there,
I noticed when trying to open a file with for instance pqview, I can only see the my documents directory. I know there´s a fix for this somewhere on this forum, I only have not be able to find it with the search feature...
Does someone know what to do?
Thanks
Anyone any idea?
Please please? I know there´s a fix for this somewhere on this forum. Just can´t find it. Would really appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction
for starters...
update ur signature. tell us ur phone version ur rom ur radio and the details of who cooked the rom.
second more details on ur question such as the app u were using to open with.
i dont have this problem. the apps always show two three or four options as to base location to choose from.
either my device. storage card. network. or extended rom if unhidden.
these r usually located at the top left as a drop down.
u may have lost ur sd card... if indeed that is where ur looking.
in the end dude... urnt a noob with that many posts either that or u have been flamed some.
first signature. then lots more details. we r not mind readers n dont have time to bugger around with people who ask such half baked questions with inadequate details to give u an answer.

yes... which api are you using?
Thanks for the replies. I'm using the LVSW version WM6, of 26th march, for the Hermes. The program which has the issue, is pqview.
I have not lost my SD card. It is accesible through file explorer
can you post a link of the pqview website...

Walshieau, I don't know. I downloaded it from the "Rocking software" section on this site. But it's no longer there. Well, do you know of any other good picture viewer then? With easy zooming/thumbnail overview?
Regards.

why do u need custom app? wot ru trying to do?

I don't find the build in app easy. To zoom for instance, one must go to options, zoom. I like to see thumbnails as well.
@dmxl
Here is the link to the thing.
You will also find a nice flash animation on how to use it here - it is showing pictures like one attached.
Please use Google first. This is not a support forum for PQView.

The attached picture is printscreen of the instructional flash presentation there which tells how to open a different directory. In short to open a directory other than My documents there is a way: In Pqview tap file>>Open Image>>you see open file screen which offers my documents folder for browsing, if you tap the screen directly above left top edge of this box you will get dropdown box in which you can choose to browse : your device (which means you can browse further for whatever file you have on your phone) or My documents. See attached screenshot. It does not show the caption of the current folder for me but you can clearly see where to tap if you want to open a file wrom within PQView. I managed to open some pictures so you should be able to do so too.

[UPDATED] Miri ROM update watcher.

Hi everyone.
I'm a BIG fan of Miri's ROMs, and because of this I was always eager to know when he's released a new version. I could obviously keep checking the thread where his ROMs are posted & discussed, but I wanted something to let me know as soon as he posted something, without me having to manually check.
With that in mind, I came up with the "MiriROMWatcher" application. Simply download the file linked below and follow these instructions to install it...
Miri ROM Watcher - download
1. Unzip the rar file and place the exe file somewhere on your harddrive that you're happy with
2. Create a shortcut to the exe file (right-click and drag the file, let go and select "Create shortcut(s) here").
3. Move that shortcut file into your windows startup folder (so it starts every time you run windows.)
4. Double click the shortcut, or exe, to run the program.
Once it's running, it sits in your system tray and checks Miri's page every 10 minutes to see if the page title has changed. If it has, the icon flashes until you double-click it. (Double-clicking opens the thread in your default browser, whether flashing or not.) Since Miri changes the thread title to reflect the version number, it's a pretty simple way of looking for a new version of the ROM.
This is not a flashy, user-friendly program - it's a simple app that does a simple thing. With that in mind, there'll be no config files or front end, and it will probably never be updated in any way. If it doesn't work for you, send me a private message and I'll see if I can help, but I'm not promising anything. It's such a simple app that it should just work anyway.
Hope it helps some people out. If there's enough interest I'll look at doing a mobile version, so you know of updates even when you're out and about!
Thanks all.
Edit:
I've modified the application to ignore page titles "Error Message" and "502 Bad Gateway". Whenever the XDA forum went down (for whatever reason), the app was seeing the error or gateway message as a new page title, and showing an update. It now simply ignores the page if it sees one of those titles. If you need to update the app, simply replace the existing exe file with the new one (make sure that the app is not running when you do this, or it won't work.)
MOD EDIT
As this is an application I've moved it to Themes, Applications and Software forum. I suggest you also post a link in Miri's threads
Cheers Spartan.
cool, he really deserves that attention. Great artist.
great thanks ...
Thanks my friend, I added a link to the first post of the ROM thread.

QuickGPS
Might be a silly question but is Quick GPS included in this ROM? if not is there anywhere i can download it from?
Thanks
wtf? wrong thread my friend!
what a cool idea!! cheers
hej!
nice idea about the ROM watcher! I usually use twitter to follow Miri, or

Now Miri has moved to HTCpedia, guess the app needs an update

[APP][UTIL]wmDownloader

wmDownloader v0.2
This application allows you to easily download files from One-Click-Hosters like rapidshare. It can be used to download your files overnight without use of PC, but remember to plug your PocketPC to charger.
I recomend turning of not cheap GPRS data connection in case of WiFi lost connection.
Application using michyprima's manila SDK.
User guide:
After first start go to "Config" tab, select destination folder for your files and click "Save". Now you can add files in "Files" tab or by editing file "files.txt" and then reloading it using "Menu->Reload files.txt".
When you added some files you can start download process. Files will be removed automaticly from list after download.
Known bugs:
- not all rapidshare error messages are parsed
- directory browser can't create new directory
- some minor UI bugs like formatting timer
Change log:
v0.2
- code prepared for multiple upload websites
- added config for download folder
- new UI
- .NET CF 3.5 used
v0.1
- initial write

Nice idea, will test it.
edit: Works, but the problem with my device is , that i haven´t got a Storage Card, it called "Interner Speicher" on my german Diamond. So the files will download only to device storage -.-
Another problem is, that the device turn off, when I am downloading, so it would be nice if you can put in a function, that disable this, during the app is running.
And of course if possible more hoster support, for example netload, upload..
Thanks and this is another link

Rapidshare downloader.rar
Many thanks, elektro255, it simply WORKS!
There is a file, that for the past weeks I never got a chance from crapidshare to downlead it,I was thinking that the site will never give a slot for this file. But last night your lite tool did it. After about 20 times trying by itself, it downloaded the file while I was sleeping.
Here's some minor issues and suggestions:
Like others found, in my Chinese ROM, it created a folder and downloaded the file to main memory.
On my QVGA device, the font size for displaying details is too small.
Is that possible in future release to make it work with other sites like mediafire etc. I don't really have demand for this myself, but maybe others have better suggested site.
Last thing is that your app does not have an icon and the shortcut looks not good in start menu. If you want to keep the tiny size of it and does not want to include another file into it, you may just use one of the system icons that comes with shellres etc.
Anyway it already did what is expected to do.
Premiumaccount and "Speicherkarte" support - would be nice

Hi,
I made simple app to download rapidshare.com files over night.
1. App is just pre pre alpha version but works for now
2. I'm not planning to continue work on this app as long as it works fine for me [but if you have good idea what can be included in next version you can write on this topic]
3. For this app is required \Storage Card\ folder.
App written in C# .NET 2.0, tested on HTC Topaz
Downloaded files are stored in \Storage Card\Downloads\
Rapidshare links are stored in \Storage Card\Downloads\files.txt (after edit via external editor, app have to be restarted)
I advise to disable GPRS connection (to avoid big bill in case of wifi disconnected) and to conect charger

This software doesn't support Premium Account?
Software is working fine on qvga...but fonts are pretty small...if possible make it user freindly...thanks
Thank you for the excellent program. I apologize for my English. Not bad, it would be in the input line to copy-paste, and a great author, please do similar programs on letitbit.net and depositfiles.com. Many thanks in advance.
Thanks for the good job! Could you make it possible to choose the directory path to save the file?
Nice work Bro
Small little app but works like a champ!! Works just like rapidshare auto downloader (for those who don't know, just google it coz this is a really convenient software for those who use rapidshare often) but in windows phone version.
Nice job
I decided to continue work on this application. So v0.2 you can download in first post.
Currently I'm working to support other One-Click-Hosters like hotfile, so check this thread time-to-time.
This seems like a really neat program, will be using now!
Thanks a lot!

Search
Hey great idea, but yea writing the web address is a pain, copy n paste would be good, but how about incorporating search!!!
Maybe hook up to a few search sites, use their code, and then be able to click on it, which inputs the address into what you already have!
Just a thought lol

The lack of copy and paste is the one thing that annoys me about an otherwise great application!

[Q] Any way to _read_ the file system of WP7?!

Hey Guys,
i'm looking for a method to read (and maybe transfer it to my PC) the files of the WP7 file-system for an analysis (not only the isolated storage files - i need more )
( I don't want to run unmanaged code, i only want to view the files of the system)
Reason:
i'm writing my bachelor thesis about the possibility's of a forensic analysis (on WP7).
It would be very (very!!) helpful for me if there is a code example how to do this (if possible)
Edit: i'm working on a samsung omnia 7
Thanks!
endeffekt
(sorry for my english )
you can read the isolated storage files in your PC now?
Search the forum. There are a couple threads here discussing that topic. Normally I would link to it but today I'm not in the mood to do someone's homework for them. (Dang, I'm in a rotton mood today).
You can use what I have of my filesystem lib here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861501&page=3

There's not a whole lot you can do with that out of the box - It's mainly just a proof-of-concept, showing how you can use a COM Library to read the files. I'm working on a file browser that will attempt to load the files in a basic text reader, but there's little use for providing the sample as a XAP, it just attempts to read BasePolicy.xml.
thanks , then I will wait till you build a nice file explorer , so we can look what files are in the win dir .

Still very basic, not the most stable either, but at least you can browse the Windows folder, and read text files.
I'll probably put more effort in once I've got further with my SevenIRC App.

Question to app programmers

What is the reason behind naming apk "com.WORDHERE.APPNAMEHERE" is there a certain pattern to follow for this? Thank You!
Thread moved to Q&A.
It defines the namespace for your app. Usually it is a reversed version of your domain name. For instance, my domain is webosnerd.com, so my packages are com.webosnerd.appname. I think it's a Java thing.

It all has to do with the way the file system is set up. If u look in the apk after its recompiled in the smali files Ull see a set of folders...first one will be com then the folder inside of that will be the com.here then the folder inside of that will be next like this com.here.next. meaning if u were looking in on ur computer it would look like this com/here/next. Its a way of calling files
thanks for the help guys! i'm gearing myself to make my first android app... or maybe i'll start with themes. Thanks!

Yes, it's a Java development pattern / best practice. Android apps are written using the Java language so most developers follow Java best practices when they develop for Android.
As to WHY it's a best practice: The .apk is just a .zip file that makes it easy to move the app around. The Android Market only has to keep track of one .apk file instead of the thousand of files that actually make up the application. Once the .apk file is on the device it is inflated back into a set of files/folders. When it does the unzipping, dots are replaced with /'s and we end up with something like:
/com/SuttCo/AppNumberOne/FolderA/file.jpg
/com/SuttCo/AppNumberOne/FolderB/file.jpg
/com/SuttCo/AppNumberOne/FolderC/file.jpg
/com/SuttCo/AppNumberTwo/FolderA/file.jpg
/com/SuttCo/AppNumberTwo/FolderB/file.jpg
As you can see... both SuttCo apps share the /com/SuttCo/ directory.
tl; dr; It's so things stay organized.
