I see posts cited in a way that provides a link to a specific post, but the text displayed with the link is the beginning of the first post in the thread containing the cited post.
What mechanism is being used to insert such a link?
Can the mechanism be modified so that the text displayed with the link is taken from the post being cited?

Is this is the same thing as #7 in Known Bugs/Regressions:?
"Unfurl"ed URL links to posts sometimes show a preview of the OP instead of the correct post (e.g. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/welcome-to-xda-2021.4197018/post-84073623

I've seen this as well but as I prefer to plain link without any inserted post section I change the unfurl parameter to false to force link only.

Confirming, yes that seems to be it.

Just removing unfurl="true" also works
HTML:
unfurl="true"

#7 says "sometimes". Any clues about when it does not malfunction?

I believe it's always, except in some cases when the link is inline and shows no preview.

Hi all. Haven't tried to download anything from here for a while, but now whenever I try and download a direct attachment ie borks the request. Seems to happen on all direct attachments I've tried of late - is this just me or am I noobing it up somehow?
Moved to About XDA section.

Is "borks the request" a technical description of this? Please send over a description what you are seeing so we can try to help. Thanks.

Hello, since the removal of devdb, were there any efforts made to archive devdb content before it was deleted? Its such a shame that alot of hidden gems became lost media such as zit flasher got erased.

Technically nothing was deleted, the DevDB files just were not migrated to the new servers.

They are to be available again according to this post.
Any updates to this may be posted in Post #1 or Post #2
Finally had some time to set this up!
DevDB downloads are available here: https://devdb.xda-developers.com/
https://devdb.xda-developers.com/
Tip:
Search for a filename or a unique part of the file name.
After you find one file copy the link and paste it somewhere like a search bar.
you will get a link like this.
https://devdb.xda-developers.com/3/1/8/0/otterx-u-boot_v2.01.zip
Remove the file name and this is the link to the folder with all files from that project.
https://devdb.xda-developers.com/3/1/8/0/
Or you can navigate to folders 3/1/8/0 for example.
I posted more here

Server seems to be a bit unstable at the moment.
When using the search function after tapping 2 or 3 characters the website freezes (tested on Firefox Beta and Chrome stable, both mobile). See attached screenshots.
Nevertheless nice to have it and I'm sure that are just some starting difficulties.

same here, if you wait a bit it usually allows you to continue typing, or try pasting text.
Actually it is just not really meant for scale. The search is slow and likely involves a lot of Javascript so it's freezing the browser.
There are just a lot of files that are only important for a handful of people that I can tell, I wanted to keep them accessible. If anyone wants to mirror them, please let me know and I will rsync them to your server. It's about 2.7TB

It works just have to be patient.
Sometimes when attaching a text file to a post, it uploads successfully but the file is never actually attached.
Attached to this post you can find a ZIP archive (attaching it obviously works). This archive contains a text file which is impossible for me to attach.
If for some reason it is not allowed to upload this text file, it should at least show an error message...
test
edit: it seems to upload fine, but doesn't show when I post.

Extracted the txt-file from the above zip file and tried to upload the log-camera.txt but failed. During the upload process the "moving upload bar" runs from left to right but at the end the file isn't uploaded.
This effect was already reported in the Better-Battery-Stats (BBS) thread; also that the issue obviously wasn't realted to the filename but probably to some content of the txt-file. In the BBS thread some logs could be uploaded as txt and some couldn't.

Yes, it certainly appears to be related to something within the text that is blocking it. Other text files are uploading and indeed parts of this txt file upload ok.
So it's likely getting scteened, though if you can just zip it then the screening isn't very effective.
I'll see if I can find out more, but that may take quite some time. Meanwhile zipping works I suppose, though frustrating obviously.
