E5606 only red light - Sony Xperia M5

Hey, so, some days ago i found this device on my workplace. No one claimed it, so i took it home. After having a closer look, the phone is in terrible conditions. Back panel is totally shattered (it even has a hole in it) and is almost glue-free. Front glass looks to be good, screen dosent seems to be cracked or damaged (i cant tell for sure) and charging port seems OK. I tried everithing to turn it on, but the only thing i get is a red light, only when connecting the phone to a charger. After unplugging it from the charger the led is still on, so it might be software stuck. The battery is OK, i measured it with my multimeter, voltage is 4.2V. I tried disconnecting everything exept charging port, but still nothing. I totally dissasembled the phone to have a closer inspection, and it seems to be all right. No water damage, no dirt, no flexing on the main board. I also tried connecting it to my PC, and i noticed that the phone tries to do something, but it fails half way. When i connect the phone, on the first 10 seconds, nothing happens, but after that, my pc detects a new COM port (COM4). Its detected for 5 seconds, and then it dissapears. That is what happens indefenetly. Nothing, appears as COM port, disappears. I tried using Xperia Companion, but i got no luck, since phone dosent turns on, and it also wont get to the bootloader/fastboot. I also tried to connect to the COM port with PuTTY, but i dont know what baud rate to use, and also, its a very short period, so i dont think there is enough time to establish a connection.
What else can i try?

put in fozener 2 days and take out to power charger, it work for me

Probably the battery is broken in case it doesn't charge.
If you are bored, avoid all the hassle windows gives and try to make use of the USB thumb drive equipped with mAid that can be found here
Sorry, but Windows is still a ***** sometimes

Plug into sync/cradle/power gives black screen red light

Hi there, my wife and I liked the SX66 I got on Ebay a while ago so much that we decided to get her one too.
When it first arrived it wasn't working so I plugged it into my usb wall charger sync cable to charge it. I first noticed that the sync connection was a bit loose, and when plugged into the sync cable/wall charger the "Red" light (not Amber) came on. I left it on there overnight thinking the battery must have been fully drained or something. By morning it still wouldn't turn on.
So then I tried putting it into the cradle that came with it and plugged that in. NOW it got the "Amber" charging light.
I again let it charge for a while and it eventually turned on for me. The backup battery was low evidently, but eventually that charged to full as well.
I updated to a WM 6.1 ROM, installed UIs and all that fun stuff. The thing worked fine, but still would not play nice with a sync cable, only the cradle. Putting it on a sync cable would result in it turning off and the "Red" light. Putting it in the cradle would work as normal.
Well, yesterday we had a minor accident and a little bit of water got spilled on it. I did my best to dry it off with tissue and took the battery off and let it dry out. I didn't have a hair dryer handy at work, so I just let it air dry for a number of hours.
I then put the battery back in and turned it on. Everything seems to be working. I then tried to attach it to the sync cable so I could install stuff, forgetting that it never worked before on the sync cable. Once I did that the screen dimmed and got a bunch of lines across it like it was shutting off but was garbled, finally leading to black screen and "Red" light. The garbled screen before going black was different than what would normally happen.
I then tried to plug it into the cradle and the same thing happened. The screen immediately dimmed, garbled, went black, "Red" light. So now the cradle doesn't work either!
If I unplug the device and hit the power button it comes up with the 4 colored screen and displays "None" for the "R" and "G". If I do a hard reset the device boots up fine and seems to run without problems. It can go into bootloader mode still too. But there's no way to sync it! Trying to sync it with a cable or the cradle both now leads to immediately shutting down with no access.
Did the water somehow fry the sync connection since the sync connection already seemed flaky? Is there anything I can do to fix that?
Without being able to plug anything into the sync slot, how am I supposed to sync with my computer? Can I do it over a wifi or bluetooth connection? Or maybe beaming stuff from my other Blue Angel? What about installing a different ROM? Without being able to use the sync slot how can you update the ROM?
I only payed $70 for this thing, but money is money so hopefully there's something I can do that won't cost too much.

Empty DHD not charging, not powering on, no led.

Hello people
A couple of hours ago, my phone shut down due to empty battery. I came home, plugged it in and booted it, all was fine. At about 60% I shut it off and went to have lunch, when I came back and tried to turn it on, I couldn't.
Led was orange at the time, I unplugged the power cord but the led stayed on! I removed the battery to be able to reboot it, but when I re-inserted it I still wouldn't boot.
Now no matter how I try to charge it, led stays off like it's not charging. Tried various different cables/chargers, the same. Tried to plug it to the charger without battery but no led flashed. Tried to boot without sim/sd card, still the same.
Any ideas?
My battery has never been changed (for a year now) and has had a bunch of full drains. Could this be a dead battery? :/
Well seems the phone is fried... I tried two more official batteries and no go...
Sorry to hear it. I thought that at first when I read your thread but I thought because I am not the most experienced person here, there might be some kind of fix.
HTC will most likely if not certainly replace this handset for you, seeing as it just happened out of the blue.
Well I certainly hope so, problem is I suspect it's an import (from another European country) and local HTC service generally does not do well with European imports.
Anyway I'll give it a try, meanwhile I'm getting a sensation soon
I have a similar problem.
I'm lucky that my girlfriend has the same handset as I do, the I could compare the phone abnormal behavior tho that of her properly working phone.
The first thing I've noticed, after a while when the charger was attached, was that the phone is very hot and that the battery keeps draining out in a surprisingly high rate.
After a while I've noticed that even when the phone is turned off it wont recharge. Sometimes the Orange LED is on when recharging while it is off, and the LED stays on for a few seconds after removing the charger, as if it was still charging. Note that the affects of connecting the charger to the phone, are mainly the ones listed below (not necessarily altogether)
* The phone indicates as if it recharges.
* Going to an infinite loop of rebooting and crashing.
* Getting hot when power supply is plugged, or at any time when the phone is turned on.
Ultimately the battery was empty, and the only way I had to keep using the phone (mostly to diagnose the symptoms listed here) was to swap the battery with the one of my girlfriend's device, and charge my battery in her device while using her's. That's the place to mention that the battery works just fine and that the phone is draining any battery, no matter what.
I took it apart to have a closer look at the source of all of the heat emitted while the phone is turned on, and it seem to come from the motherboard itself.
That's all I have.
The worst thing is that a friend of mine who helped me opening it up broke the pcb of the volume keys. Now I checked and It turns out that that pcb is actually part of the flex cable, which sort of extension of the motherboard and is mainly the second most important piece of hardware of all the phone parts (not that there are so many). If I would be able to expose the conductors inside the flat cable I might be able to solder an alternative volume pad I'll make out of old some miniature switches I have. The cable is very thin. any Ideas of how to expose the relevant conductors without ripping the cable apart?
Just a (late) update:
It's been almost two years, I had given the phone to a close friend of mine after a couple of weeks since writing the first post, just in case he could resurrect it, nothing.
Then, a couple of months down the road, the phone suddenly woke up! He tried to connect it with the charger, after months of not being able to charge or boot it up and somehow it worked. And it has been working flawlessly ever since.
I just got it back to give to my girlfriend until her sensation is fixed, flashing Viper now
In case something like this happens to any of you, don't give up!

[Q] Phone Death

Screen was frozen,
So, took battery out and restarted, fine.....froze on HTC screen for like 8 min (really bright one)...so took out battery again...now nothing...zip...nada.
USB cord...computer will not recognize phone, just says device error...no green light ontop, no factory re-set options.
Think phone is well and truely fried..
Any suggestions?? Not even a year old.
Does the notification LED light up at all, for example orange blinking/solid to show charging when connected to power? If not, it could be a dud battery.
Nope, no led at all when connected to power supply or usb cable. Battery was fine earlier, when taken out and usb connected I don't get anything but when battery in and connecting usb the computer does its usual 'ping' that something is connected but nothing shows on the lists (ie, extra drive)....

Click to collapse
Well, if youre phone isnt turned on, it wont see it as a device therefore no ping.
Does it not turn on at all? Check if battery is correctly in and if your cable may be broken.

I had this problem on my old HTC HD2...zero power one day...turned out to be the actual usb port on the phone itself.....it had broken away from the main board at the soldering joints, but was hardly even loose or noticeable until taken apart.
Try a new battery first and cable - borrow off a friend/colleague or just buy cheap off Ebay.
If not working, then i'd take it to a competent repair place......but unless you're loaded with cash, NOT take it to HTC, coz the repair job will be good, but the cost will be........OUCH!

Z5P problems.

So I recently purchased a Z5P unlocked, with a contract in vodafone, regardless of that ive been having many problems with the Z5P. I love the phone and all its features. On to my problems and if anyone has an idea how to fix it please tell me!
1: my first problem is the water thing, if i take it in water its all fine, until water touches the jack, say if im in the rain, listening to music(which i have done to experience this problem) it will keep going into headphone mode, this isnt a huge problem, but if theres some work around to this id greatly appreciate it.
2: This is my biggest problem, the charging port just doesnt work properly! i connect it, it charges just fine, 100% in an hour or so, then it drains throughout the day i get home from college, from about 8-5/6 its down to about 50/45% i plug it in and no charge, or even worse half way through the day it'll pop up saying charger not charging battery, with nothing connected into the charger! its just died on me and will not charge at all, until i plugged it into my computer via fastboot and the lil blue light pops up and is now charging. Slowly, but is charging. any ideas as to why it isnt charging through wall charger? all official cables, and around 3 it was charging, in college fine. i get home and it doesnt charge.
other lil problems include the brightness thing, which i guess will be fixed in marshmallow? it keeps going into adaptive brightness even though i turn it off?
another problem is when i turn it off (Press the power button>Power off) it doesnt turn off, it forever restarts, red light, sony screen, black screen-repeat.
also another problem is the lag?! not in general, its all smooth but in snapchat the device starts lagging and then heats up? might be snapchat, i dunno. but the charging ones the big one!:crying::crying:
EDIT: i have done a full reset of my phone before it fully died on me, and this is the first time its ever fully died.
I don't know what country you're in but I'd return it for a new one. To many problems you got there...

I have the same problem as you, when i plug in the phone to the charge, nothing happend but, when i connected to my PC the phone appears to work fine until i restart it, after that, my pc wont reconice the phone either and i cant charge it until the battery is completely dead and of course, when i turn it off, the phone do the same as yours, white scren whit the sony logo after the red light and do the same thing over and over again, i tried hard reset twice but wont work, dont know what to do either............. did you connect your phone on a PC with windows XP in college???, because my problem start when i connecte to an old PC with Windows XP...

New device won't start

Hello everyone! So, I buy the ZE551ML and it's finally in my hands. It's brand new, box sealed and seems fine. BUT it doesn't start. No sign of life. Tried a different charger but nothing, and both chargers works with my Z1 compact device. Even when I plug it in the PC with Windows 10, nothing happens, with both cables. Only sign of "life" is when plugged in the PC Windows does the connected device sound and then almost immediately the disconnected device sound, with different timings. I think it could be the USB connector on the phone that's faulty. I tried open the back cover to see if there was some insulator between the battery and the phone itself, but I couldn't find any.
Is it hidden or is my phone damaged? Thank you!
Mine had to be charged for 3 hours to even light the charging led How long did you wait?
Well........ Based on my prevoius experience, I tought half an hour was long enough. Wait, now it did vibrates indicating a dead battery icon. It probably lives!
