I have been using a (ATT) Note 3 on TMobile for the last 7-8 years that I rooted and dialed in thanks to this Forum years ago.
Because I like the 16-1 aspect ration, I just bought a Note 5 to replace my aging Note 3.
Here is what I would like to do.
1) - Download all the Data from my Note 3 to my local pc. (which program should I use?)
2) - Root & remove all the bloatware from the new att Note 5
3) - drag/drop my choice of apps, messages, contacts from my pc to the Note 5
I took a screen shot of my *about page showing all the phone info, but unlike my Note 3, when I plug in N5, it does Not connect as a device, (it charges, but I can see nothing on my pc).

Not sure which forum to start in and came here for advice.
Thank you

I recently got the Note 4 Dev Edition and just took out my S5 SIM and slapped it in. Note 4 works as it should. When I log in to my account it shows non VZW device. Does the DE Note 4 really need to be activated? Just curious since my phone is working fine.
Mine didn't, it shows my DE (well just note 4).
Thanks for the response. Did you use the sim card that came in it?
I had upgraded my sim on my note 2 in 2014 to a enhanced sim (for softcard etc, which I dont use) and I just switched them out and no problem. Shows up as a note 4
that is weird. my developer shows fine no problems. just shows note 4 but no issues. my nexus 6 showed non vzw device but note 4 dev is fine
Strange indeed. I'm not going to worry about it for now. I guess when advanced calling aka VoLTE is available for the Note 4, I'll have to worry about it then since it looks like I have to manually activate the feature.
Interesting... I logged in today to my verizon account and now both phones are listed as Note 4s. Guess it took Verizon a while to update their database for the IMEIs.
Hi All- I had a Note 4 for a few days back when they first came out, returned because of all the bloat between Samsung and ATT. Looking for an Android device now, but have a question. Has the state of the Note 4, for either ATT or T-Mobile changed to the point where I can solve my phone bloat problems? Through rooting, or some other technique (iPhone user learning the ropes here), can I address all the apps and Touchwiz stuff I don't like?
If you want root, get the t-mobile version or the developer edition with Verizon, there is temp root for this at&t version which is like a tethered jailbreak but now you can do the re-root on your phone no pc needed, but you lose it if you do a hard reboot... Good luck
I have a brand new note edge ( it registers as a note 4 is why I put this here and due to no note edge forum ) and am using my t-mobile sim and it all seems to work fine except when I call say best buy and have to press 1 for electronics for example and I press 1 but it does not register and cannot get through to whom I am trying to reach.
I can use it to make calls and it's fine, just the automated systems it has trouble with, have done a factory reset.
I love the phone but this is a moderate issue for me, that and that I can't root it...
Thanks for any help / direction.
I received my Verizon Note 10+ today but don't want to activate it to my phone# until next week when my case and tempered glass screen protector arrives. I work in a hectic warehouse / retail environment and I know it would get damaged. Until then I was hoping I could continue using my protected Note 8 as my phone calls / text device and also setup the Note 10+ with apps, customization, etc when I get home at night. The Verizon sim card for the Note 10+ is still in the box, I have not installed it.
1. Is there any way to bypass the Verizon activation screens on the Note 10+ and get to the camera, apps, internet, customization settings so I can set it up how I like it before I activate it?
2. If I have to go ahead and activate the Note 10+ with Verizon can I deactivate it later tonight or tomorrow and reactivate my Note 8 until the protection for the Note 10+ arrives?
Thank you for any advice and sorry for any confusion.

With the T-Mobile version, I didn't move my SIM over until the new phone was all ready to go, no issues. You'll want to move the old SIM, not use the new one, if possible. If you use the new SIM you'll need to call Verizon to activate, probably.

OK thank you! I've never done anything with carriers other than regular activation. I just remember years ago with my HTC phone, and later my Note 2, I could setup Google, access apps and settings and then activate the new phone with Verizon when I was good and ready.

I purchased a Galaxy note 8 from Verizon years ago. After being with Verizon for a year I switched to TMobile to save some money and I brought my Verizon note 8 with me. I used the note 8 on TMobile for another year then I switched back to Verizon and got the pixel 4xl. I sold my old note 8 to a friend who was using straight talk as his carrier. The TMobile boot screen still pops up and he still get messages from T-Mobile and he doesn't have data when he is talking on the phone. Is there a way to fix this? The phone is unlocked and paid off. TMobile says they don't know how to get their stuff off the phone. Any help is much appreciated.
