Hi, I just switched from a Mi Max 3 to a Mate 20X since ATT is removing 3G, and haven't had any luck finding or setting up VoLTE on my Mate 20X. I'm fully updated to EMUI 11 and the option simply doesn't exist to turn on VoLTE. I've tried setting up a new APN as well, with no luck.
How should I go about getting it working? As ATT locks down any lines that don't have VoLTE.

I did a lot of reading on these forums about that. I had called into ATT support last night and they said enabling VoLTE was something that they were unable to do for my IMEI on my line. To the point that ATT will actually lock my line out from even functioning once I try to get that device setup. Would I have to give them an IMEI for another device with VoLTE, have them unlock my line, and then put the sim card back in the Mate 20X?
Update on this, I tried a friends T-Mobile sim card in my phone and it worked with no issue. VoLTE started up completely fine. ATT is just being dumb with me when they say they can't activate VoLTE on the line.
So, would I need to bring in a completely different device with VoLTE and give them that IMEI. Then plop the sim card back in my Mate 20X?

No problems with that, switch to T-Mobile it is then. Heck even Google Fi or something like that.
I think they're telling me the device they see off of the IMEI isn't allowed, not blocking the IMEI or anything.

Thanks ATT.
Most of my family is on ATT, but I have someone in it on T-Mobile. Will be heading there later.
I already switched to T-mobile after 9 years with ATT
They simply locked out my phone
T-mobile works fine no issues

Just bought an unlocked SM-G960U1 from Samsung.com. I used my active SIM card from the old Moto G4 on the S9 and it didn't work. Checked IMEI with Verizon and it said the phone should work perfectly with their network. I talked to tech service by phone and they told me to look for LTE/CDMA in Settings but I only have LTE/3G/2G and such. in settings. What is wrong with the phone? Is it a real unlocked one or they shipped me a wrong model? Please help. Thanks.
Reset the APN settings
then reboot the phone
and make sure you have store bought sim, they do update SIM models and sometimes it can matter.

Thanks for answering. I reset all APNs to default and reboot but it didn't work. It seems the phone does have any setting related to CDMA network.
That phone is perfect for Tmobile and Metro PCS ...
Is Verizon using GSM type phones ?

Yep there is definitely something wrong. Maybe I missed it but I don't see where you mentioned getting a new sim. The best option would be going into a Verizon store and getting them to put in a new sim. If that isn't possible get them to send you a new sim.

Thanks for the reply. I am using my existing sim card which was purchased two years ago. I will visit a Verizon shop and see if a new sim can do the trick.
New sim card is the solution
Thanks all. A new sim card from Verizon activated the CDMA connection of the new G960U1. I am a happy S9 user now.

Does your model number change to SM-G960U, after activation with a Verizon SIM or does your ABOUT PHONE section list your S9 as an SM-G960U1?

I've since found that out from Samsung.
Kinda surprised they were correct.
Hi, I'm trying to use an eSim only (without inserting a physical sim) on my pixel 6 pro on AT&T, however I cannot get it to work. When I say not get it to work, I mean with eSim only there is no cell signal and no data signal. Physical sim works fine on both signal and cellular service. If there's another Us AT&T pixel 6 pro user who's using only the eSIM for service please respond and let me know whether or not eSim only works for you. Thanks.
Not an AT&T user here, am using a European carrier, just from anecdotal perspective: I also use eSim only and never had an issue on my P6 Pro. So it appears to be something carrier related.
I remember that I had to activate my eSim, maybe you also have to do this? Did you try out the eSim/your contract before using this phone?

Yes, I tried 3 times with the help of AT&T and we couldn't get it to work. I'm going to return the device for a new replacement to see if that fixes this issue. Thanks for replying.

Before going through the hassle of returning the device for a potential fault - do you have a family member or friend, whose simcard/esim you could try out? That way you can find out if your phone truly has a defect or if its your contract/the specific esim. Of course you can always let them replace your device, but that will take a couple days, maybe there are faster ways to narrow the problem down.

i tried again today at another AT&T corp store and walked out of the store with it working as expected (wait till the end). the person helping did additional research on my issue and discovered the P6P shipped to me "was not activated" with the inserted physical sim (which i removed when i received the device). apparently, AT&T will park (or associate) a new device with a specific number when shipping to you vs. walking in to buy a device on an existing line. nonetheless, i'm going to return the phone because the data connection isn't working consistently; data is on and then after i go to website, data turns off. i'm probably going to send it back to AT&T next week.
Finally got the phone working, but will get an unlocked version later; this one is still going back to ATT.
I'm using an ESIM on AT&t and even originally got the phone My plan was to have a physical TracFone SIM card and my AT&t esim which is exactly what I had on my Pixel 5 and it worked great. Both SIM cards work great... when the other ones not active or inserted. It is impossible to use with both SIM cards like I did on my Pixel 5. Constant signal loss and the majority of the time. No signal at all. But as soon as I deactivate or remove a SIM card it starts working perfect.
I had a problem with provisioning eSim on my TMobile, well technically its sprint still, says tmobile esim but I am on sprint billing. Anyways, you need to maybe try to do it on another WiFi access point or something. I had issues with mine activating over Viasat2 satellite internet. I live in that area, its either LTE or satellite for internet. Had to tether to my work verizon phone to activate it on sprint/tmobile lol. If the connectivity to the esim server is not great, you'll split hairs until it is.

Exactly the same issue/behavior I had with my AT&T P6P on the AT&T network so I returned mine today. I'm contemplating a Fi version to see if it works for my use case.
So, just today, my Mate 20X stopped making or receiving calls. Looks like ATT shut down 3G calling. Anyone on ATT in the US find a way to continue using the EVR-L29? Anyone get anywhere with ATT tech support on this issue? I REALLY want to continue using this phone. If not, anyone know of a suitable alternative of the same size (7+ inch screen) that is VOLTE enabled with the proper bands for ATT? Don't want a folding phone. Anything else out there? Thanks!

I have the same issue with my Mate 10 Pro. For the last few months I had to keep calling to keep my IMEI whitelisted. This might be the end of the line. I called ATT earlier and this time they said there was nothing they could do. They said the hard phase out started yesterday for non-voLTE. Data and text still work, just not voice. I'm hoping magically there's still a workaround, but I dunno anymore.

I hear ya. I'll let you know if I find any joy . They are sending me a new sim but a guy at the att store said it probably won't work. Wondering if there are Huawei phones that have VoLTE and USA bands this is the third time I've been squeeze out of a great phone due to tower upgrades. sucks
Good luck. I previously swapped sims with the ATT u304aa phone they gave me, and it didn't save me this week.
Problem solved!! Ditch ATT. Went to T Mobile after they sent me some stupid E sim card that wasn't even compatible with my device. They put in one of their sim cards into my phone and BOOM...just like that, my Mate 20X has VoLTE. Turns out ATT doesn't want to help people out.

Hi guys,
My Samsung Note 10+ stopped making receiving calls about two weeks ago.
I have no option for VoLTE if that was the case; I updated my firmware to the last available (Android 12). I called customer service, and they did their "magic" with my IMEI and ID e t. c. I also went to their office, and they said they couldn't help me, but they have customers with the same issues with non-att phones.
Any solutions?
Thank you!

The sim card needs to be configured for 4 VoLTE.
My N10+ was already running it, nothing happened after the switch.

Was this originally an ATT phone?
No, originally Samsung US version, unlocked.
I have a N975U1 and a new N975U. These are both 4G only variants, no 5G*.
The N976U however is whitelisted by AT&T and should work.
I haven't fully configured the unlocked variant so after reading this thread I was wondering what it do. It hasn't been booted since the switch.
Slammed it the sim card and booted; it's working the same as it's sister.
Try clearing the system cache.
Network reset.
Reset on AT&T's side.
*5G Versions: SM-N976F (Global); SM-N976U (USA); SM-N976N (South Korea)
Thank you. My version is the US version. All those things are done. I think I will change the carrier. ATT is just doing nothing.

Something is misconfigured.
It may be the new sim card or ithe sim card may be damaged; install a new one yourself and handle it like a stick of ram, it's ESD sensitive.
Talk to Advance tech support at AT&T, get someone that knows what they're doing... may take a few tries.
Also clear the data in the sim toolkit app in addition to what I already suggested.
Try a hard reboot as well.
Access point names settings should be this:

I can't add NXTGENPHONE or ENHANCEDPHONE. It disappears right after saving.
There are many people with the same issue on the ATT forum. Many of them spent days talking to the support team; I tried it four times already and went to their office twice. Nothing helps, unfortunately.

I think the problem is the sim card.
On my unlocked new N10+ variant all I did to set it up was slam in the sim card from my other AT&T N10+. I didn't touch any settings on it.

I will remind you again the these circuits are suspectable to ESD damage. May fail instantly or days, weeks, even years latter.

After reading all of this, the only thing I have seen in regards to ATT not making calls is with WIFI calling if it does not have the carrier bloat.
You may have fun trying to find the user data file for ATT to flash for N976U.
If you could, load the carrier bloat U package and see if it resolves the issue.
The only other thing I have seen is when ATT deems a phone incompatible, they just suspend the SIM card and make it inactive. If the phone is whitelisted it shouldn't do this.
The best thing would be to go with someone like T-Mobile who won't mess with your SIM etc.

No. ATT Support just had to enable it on my device (OP 7T).
AT&T is pretty hit or miss with OPlus in my experience. They forced me out of their network when I had a OnePlus 7 Pro. Told me to upgrade, gave me the 3G network nonsense. Bought the 10 Pro, called support, they enabled all the switches on their side... two weeks later they cut my service completely right after a billing cycle and I couldn't text, call, and didn't have data. They kept telling me **** like my phone wasn't certified or something for their network, a brand new device bought from best buy, lol. The gall.
For OPlus I would use T-Mobile, as that's their "licensed" vendor so even global, EU, or CN Oppo devices seem to work fine. But that's just my personal experience last year, perhaps others are different.

That used to be the case but not since the 10T. OnePlus is now officially certified for AT&T network (but only the 10T and 11). In the past though, it wasn't certified and AT&T loved to kick people off for using a non-certified phone. As far as T-Mobile though, yeah OnePlus devices fully work on their network without any nonsense. They also fully work on Verizon without any nonsense too.
