Hi guys,
I got a Poco X3 NFC and I hope you can help me.
I'm not on the Poco X3 NFC forum because I think this is related to the fact that I rooted my phone rather than my model.
I use an app called FreeStyle Librelink that is used to monitor my glucose level for my diabete using NFC and a sensor on my arm.
I read online that they locked the use of the app for rooted phone. (yeah, what a jerk move)
The app simply crash when I launch it. I tried to hide the root through the magisk app without success. Do you think there is a workaround for me or I have no other choice than unroot the phone ?
And I deeply hope that it's not the unlocked bootloader that is the source of the problem rather than the root itself. I have the classic method involving a drop of blood to test my sugar level but I will not give up the confort that this sensor is.
Thank you to anyone that can think of something.

You can send feedback about it. You can unroot mobile. You need to remove super user from sbin.
i had the same problem with my librelink app, the solution is open Magisk app and click Uninstall Magisk then once the device reboots, you can use the Librelink app as normal
reflash Magisk/install again with whatever modules you use
you need to uninstall Magisk each time you want to use the librelink app, hope this helps anybody
There's an easier fix that lets you keep root.
Go to magisk, shield icon, magiskhide and select librelink. Didn't need reboot.

Dear Fellow LG G4 users, I need your help. Especially if you are using Xposed, I can really, really use your help! It shouldn't take more than a reboot and 5 minutes of your time, I would deeply appreciate it!
I use a corporate email client called, Good for Enterprise for my work email. This app of course cannot be used on Rooted devices. For this, an Xposed module was written over a year ago, and then the developer stopped his development. This module (v3.5) worked with Good for Enterprise (v2.7.1.390) for me for over a year, for several devices, until my G4 (H810l), which crashes the Good app with a (Unfortunately, Good has stopped working message)... I am thinking it *could* be because G4 is the first phone I am using with a 64bit processor.
The developers are unresponsive on this to help me, which means that if it's the phone, I'd need to go to another phone, but I need help from my fellow G4 users. Could you please use the Google Drive link below:
1. Download the APK for the security patch and the Good app.
2. Install the security patch, activate it in Xposed, and reboot
3. Install the Good app, and launch it
4. Report what happens
5. Uninstall everything and delete files, if you like

Yes sir, I am rooted, otherwise I wouldn't have Xposed or need this module. It used to work like a charm on every other phone. Do you have Xposed? Can you please help me test this?
Thank you again!
Come on my G4 brothers and sisters! I know we all love our Xposed here, 85 views and 0 people willing to spare 5 minutes? Come on, friends, we're nicer than that around here, aren't we ?
Thank you in advance for the kind ones!
Hey man, so I tested this out and I think the problem is the patcher module. Try disabling it and getting the RootCloak module. Enable it, then clear cache and data of the Good app and reboot.
If superuser asked you for permission before (it did for me) and you allowed or denied the request, you'll have to delete it from the SU app.
I can get to the screen where it asks for email and pin doing that. Not sure if it'll actually let you log in though.
Edit: Just saw your other post where RootCloak didn't work. Not sure what else you could do.

Hey buddy! Good to see you on this forum, and coming out to help! :good:!
Yes, asking for the Root permission is normal for the module, because version 2.7.1.390 was also checking for Xposed I think. I can't get rid of the module, because I need it to run Good.
Can you confirm that you did see the same exact outcome as I did with the module installed? That is, Good crashing, after getting the super user permissions? If so, are you on Xposed version v74? If so, it seems like the module may have run it's life on a 64bit architecture, without any updates from the original devs. I am wishing so bad and messaged @Phantasm4489 to see if he would get involved again. No response yet :'(!
As you read in the RootCloak thread, RC fails Good too :'(. But the developer is at least working on that one, so who knows?
I still request my other LG G4 friends to please test this for me for 5 minutes of their time, I would really appreciate it. If we get enough reports like mine, I think the next step to confirm a 64bit issue would be to see if others on phones like M9, ZenFone2, and Galaxies are seeing the same thing.
In the meanwhile, I appreciate this test/help so, so, so much @Nowak4G!
I just tried out root for my Note 7 using the Sprint ROM method and I noticed I can't use the gear app. I don't currently have my laptop with me so I can't manually push Xposed, so is there any way to hide the app from seeing root from my phone itself?
I haven't used a rooted phone since my S6 and I don't really know about all this new stuff, or why Samsung would block a simple watch app from rooted phones.
Samsung doesn't allow the Gear app to run on rooted devices because it can be used with Samsung Pay.
Chainfire has a new method to hide root from apps without requiring Xposed, but you better know what you're doing.
It has no UI.

Well that's not good news, but is there anyway you could link it so I can take a look?
I might just flash back to stock and wait for the U firmware if it's that much of a hassle.
I'm also curious about this. I would like to be able to use pay, but also have the phone rooted as well.

There was a decent app for KK / LP but nothing has been made for M yet.
Not that my post is any help.. ^.^
Bank Aplication IKO NFC payments
IKO app is working but they added NFC payment and its not working
After fist launch there is NFC icon in IKO app menu but after tapping it, app will crash.
After second try icon just disappears.
Any ideas ? THx

There is a method to make the Gear VR think your N7 is an S7. It requires root of course. There was a thread on this somewhere here a week ago or so.

I can't find it now. That thread may have been removed possibly.
After rooting my Note 7, I've noticed that my Knox counter has been triggered, normally I would mind but several apps seem to depend on it to work properly(I can't even open S Health!). Is there away to reset it yet? thanks
Nope. When you root, a physical fuse in the phone is blown, so unless you have epic soldering and mad haxorz skills then you're pretty much screwed
get it exchanged in the recall, and don't root your new phone.
there's not that much you can do with root that you can't do without root, especially on recent high-end Samsung phones.
I am rooted and my S Health works. I believe the only thing that would be permanently disabled is Samsung Pay. Some banking apps will not run if you have root but you can always install an Xposed module called root cloak to circumvent that issue.

S-health is still there, do a search and you can find instructions to access it. You should only lose secure folder and pay, if you want those things you should follow the advice above and not root your replacement phone. I'm not beating you up here but as an FYI you should have known the ramifications of rooting before you rooted, it's best to know what you're in for before you commit to a course of action that may be irreversible.

Sadly depending on what you want not everything is available without rooting.
Unless you can tell me how to change all app dpi individually.

you're mentioning specific root-only apps.
obviously those won't work, but there are alternative methods with (close to) the same results.
adaway: adguard, it's better anyway(doesn't rely on a system designed for no more than 100 rules, easy to toggle on/off, supports whitelisting of apps, supports firewall functionality, and can target not just entire domains but also single lines of code)
adfree YouTube: yes this one is trickier, you'd need a 3rd party YouTube app or the website+adguard to avoid ads.
alternatively you can use "Cygery AdSkip for YouTube" to automatically skip ads after 5 seconds.
as you said, greenify works just not as effective.
similar "power saving" functions however are built in on recent android devices.
and from what I can tell every function in "smart network" except switching to 2G can be achieved without root using tasker.
synapse and per app DPI are the only things on your list that are completely impossible without root(although using game tuner's resolution settings you should be able to influence scaling in some apps)
Also if you use YouTube backgrounder, OGyoutube works great and allows background / downloading of content. I'm still looking for an ad free YouTube but this suffices in the meantime.

do you have the link for it? when I try to open it, it says the following:
"Unable to open app
Because of a new security policy introduced in version 5.0, Knox is not available on compromised devices"
I've already frozen all the knox apps I could find in TB.
strange, I just checked my 2-year old Note 4, the knox has also been triggered awhile ago, but i could use S Health fine. Why would S Health have anything to do with Knox?

S Health may use Knox to protect your health data (HIPAA in the USA).
The S-health thing is new, people are circumventing it by an app that lets you access the widget and from it you can open it up or some such, don't use it so I paid little attention to the fix. Don't remember where I saw that but it's here somewhere shine, I would peruse the development threads, I'm thinking I saw it in one of them.
Hi all
I've been looking for a custom rom that still allows me to use apps like Microsoft company portal.
As I haven't been able to find one I was wondering, in general, how an app detects all the things in the screenshot.
Safetynet is under control but it's the su binaries and dangerous props that have me puzzled. Is someone able to explain how all these detections work? Or point to a place where it's all explained?

It is called root beer app to detect root library. You can find it in play store. Here goes
Rootbeer
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.scottyab.rootbeer.sample
I was looking for something that could "scan" for criteria that an app developer could call risks and close down the app for using in those situations.
It seemed to fit my purpose. Now I am looking if I can find a rom that is able to "play nice" when it comes to those things.
I love the extra customisation that a custom rom provides and I miss it incredibly in stock roms.
Fyi: magisk did take away things like safetynet but others like su binaries still got detected.
HI All,
So I've have my 7T for about a month now and are very happy coming from a P 2xl.
Now I'm thinking should I or should I not root. When I had my Note 4 I rooted all the time but now that I think of it, even though it was kind of fun, I don't miss the bugs. On the positive side , due to so much bloat from Samsung, I liked the ability to delete and clean out the phone. Moving on the P 2 XL I didn't root because it was so clean and Google lets you delete practically everything you don't want. Now I'm with the 7T which seems to be another "clean" phone.
At this point , I'm looking for suggestions:
What are the pros and cons?

It's more like what you want to achieve with root.
It's a bit more complicated since there is no TWRP. And it case something goes wrong, it might be a bit tricky to get restore everything, but you should be fine since there's are plenty of instructions.
I've heard some banking apps does not work, but haven't experienced that.
Unlocking the bootloader makes the widevine Level L3, so you are limited to 720p Netflix.
Sent from my OnePlus7TPro using XDA Labs
I don't think it is necessary to root because you can debloat with adb commands. If you root the banking apps won't work for example and because of rooting you expose yourself to a security risk
I tried it, didn't end up working well, had to use the OnePlus recovery tool
Also as for banking apps stopping working, use magisk hide, may also work on Netflix but not sure
I'm usually a big fan of rooting, but have been using my 7t for a week without it and don't miss it. Brave browser and adb debloat has accomplished most of what I need root for.
In my case answer was simple. Titaniumbackup requires root. Not all apps have import/export settings or do so completely. Adaway, Vpn hotspot (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=be.mygod.vpnhotspot&hl=en_US), and some other apps I use also require root. Hell, I could of gotten a samdung product (on promotion) for a few bucks more. Root or bust !!!
Reasons to root:
Adaway
Reasons not to:
I rooted the phone a month or so back to use a custom kernel, install AdAway and even tried out OmniROM which was quite buggy and essentially a step down from OxygenOS. More importantly, it wasn't worth it because of losing Widevine L1 which is needed in my case for Netflix and Prime Video, as I occasionally connect it to other display devices over Type-C. Banking apps mostly worked with Magisk Hide but then some of them were a bit glitchy.
Moreover, it was a bit of a pain to restore OxygenOS as the fastboot roms fail the integrity check and the only option is to do a factory flash. I eventually settled on debloating through adb and using Blokada for adblocking which more or less serves its purpose.
I root on the first day. Mainly for adaway , viper4android and theming. Its just way easier to achieve these with root .

Thanks
