com.android.phone keep stopping - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

Keep getting this error on my phone.
There is not error when running on safe mode.
I have already perform factory reset but it doesn't help.
It is T-Mobile Stock ROM.

I'm getting the same thing this morning. It wasn't happening yesterday. I'm using a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, stock ROM, T-mobile carrier.

Hard resets are good for Trojans, worms, viruses and old loads but most times not much more.
If it's a software or settings issue you will likely toggle it again on the new load. Track it down and learn.
Be patient and keep observing the behavior/doing google searches/trying different things until you sort it out.
PD MDM is useful as you can block packages and also easily clear caches and data.

Disable automatic updates; destroyer of worlds. Set apps back to their factory load. It may be one of the Google updates... and as always clear the system cache on the boot menu.

This started happening on my wife's S10+ with factory T-mobile September update. Performed a factory reset, it started happening again later that night. I then tried reloading the factory OS through Odin and the problem again came back later in the night.
There has to be something with some software or setting trying to pull a network setting or something. No problem in safe mode, but no apps really load.
She ended up going to T-mobile store and upgrading to S20+ . Hope it doesn't come back!

•Added: this sounds like an update induced issue. Reset any associated apks back to factory load but don't reload OS, lol.
It could be a Google system apk.
Shotgun get it done... you can update them latter.
Reloads are not the solution most times; techs are either inept, lazy and maybe just enjoy screwing with customers. Of course they wuv selling new phones too.
Only persistent is omnipotent...
Clear the app cache in Samsung Device Care>memory.
When you see it go south go back to there and see which apks just loaded (most recent are at the top).
Many times you can get useful clues like this to find really nasty little misbehaving monsters.
Developer options>running apps/cache may useful too.
Use a package blocker like PD MDM to interrogate suspect apks. Lol trial by fire.
Try disabling it, if that gets it then try enabling it again but clear the cache*, if that doesn't get it try clearing data. Or you may need to leave it disable or uninstall it.
Again turn off all autoupdates so if it's one of those you see it go south when -you- update it. Most updates are overrated anyway... some are destroyers of worlds.
*clearing cache/data in settings leaves behind what I assume are nulls. PD MDM were completely clears these. This can be very useful with system apks.
Best to use this app for troubleshooting because of this. It's saved me from a reload more then once.

[Q] Updated with Kies, the Update Service message won't go away?

I just updated to KL1 though Kies successfully, but the annoying' T-Mobile update service' message won't clear from my Notification bar.
I've tried rebooting, but it comes right back. I've also tried going through the update steps on the device, but it never does anything. There's no option that I can see to clear this message like other notifications .
Does anyone know how I can clear this notification?
try a factory reset. that was happening to me too and it went away after the factory reset.

I had considered that too. However after I re-rooted my device I did some searching in System App Remover and found the apk that was causing the notice. Unfortunately I didn't write down the name of the apk, but it had the same icon as the one next to the update notification. I believe it was some combination of tmobile and update.
Sorry to be vague, I was pretty much going at it blindly before resorting to the full factory reset.
Just a word of cation, deleting that apk also seems to have killed the phones ability to check for over the air updates. When I check for updates in settings, it doesn't give the normal 'no firmware' message. Not a problem if you're using Kies, but just thought it was worth mentioning.
If someone having the same issue happens to find the proper name of the offending apk, please post it. Thank you.
In TB I froze the apk 'device management V10.2.1' and the updates went away. Unfreeze it and reboot and they come back.
Had same issue. Rep @ T-Mo says Samsung pushes the update for them so they can't do anything about it. It's a known issue and it's supposedly being worked on by Samsung. ***** @ them.

[Q] Help troubleshooting Google Play freeze after app install

I'd been using FF18 for quite a while without incident, but after upgrading to FI27 (not OTA, via the one-click method), Google Play is hanging the system immediately after successfully downloading and installing any given app. It puts me on the usual page allowing me to open the app, I press open, and wham, the system freezes until it reboots automatically about a minute later. The app that I installed then runs fine.
(In testing this several times, I should mention that one time I actually was able to open an app I just installed, but it hung about 10 seconds in, and the system rebooted as usual. It ran fine after that.)
I've searched around a bit for this and see that I'm hardly the first to encounter this issue. Sometimes it occurs when no recent update has been performed at all. Unfortunately, I haven't really found a solution yet. The best I've seen is to delete the data for Google Play and Download manager, and rebooting, which I've done to no effect. I've also tried uninstalling Google Play, but I think in this case that just leaves me with the same version that I had, the one that came with FI27 (in any case, that didn't help either).
How does one go about troubleshooting this type of problem? I suppose wiping out the phone and starting over would fix it, but I was hoping for more of a surgical rather than nuclear approach. After all, on a PC, you don't reformat when you have a problem with a program.

I hadn't, but I did just now (there was just over 4MB there), along with a reboot following, and unfortunately it didn't help. Maybe Google Play services too, or something else?
Try deleting data for anything that says google play.

You stated you upgraded so I'm assuming you didn't do a fresh install. Even if you did do a fresh install, restoring data & apps from an older version could cause problems. You should try a fresh load and work your way back from there.
Edit: Saw you did the one-click. Still think you should try a full wipe and try it again with a fresh load to see how it goes.

I've now done that (though one or two had no data), along with the framework one you mentioned earlier, followed by a reboot, but it still happens. Arghh!

Yes, I chose the nodata FI27, since it said that it was good for same-version or upgrades (in this case, ICS to ICS), but I will choose the nuke-from-space one if there's no way out of this, though wouldn't just resetting to factory defaults at this point do the same thing?
It's a little bit disturbing that an issue with one app, albeit an important (though not essential) one, can require wiping the phone. If this were to come up again for some reason, maybe just one day out of the blue and not related to putting on a new ROM, it would be nice to know a way out.
Perhaps I can grab a log from somewhere with ADB?

If you have a custom kernel with recovery make a backup. Or get one and do it and then do a full wipe and fresh load. That is the only way you'll know for sure.
Yes, I will, but I thought I'd live with it a while to see what I could learn.
I've found that opening the newly-installed app is not the issue: simply installing a new app is. If I wait on the "Open" screen right after an install, and do nothing, within a minute the system will freeze and reboot.
Interestingly, updating apps does not trigger the problem, as numerous apps have updated this week, even one that Google Play wanted me to approve manually. Go figure.
Anyway, I have a logcat of an example in case anyone is interested. In this case, I initiated an install at 15:26, which is when the log begins. It ends shortly after the reboot.

[Q] Is there a way to reset/wipe the AFTV to a brand new like condition?

Okay, I have noticed over many resets that the AFTV doesn't actually get rid of many files and doesn't not actually reset you to a pristine clean system like when you got it (but still rooted, etc).
For example, I had a problem recently with my HD connected to it, so I needed to redo my stuff. Did a data & cache wipe & factory reset, only had 2.5 GB free on my AFTV (without the HD connected, not doing that for now). Which doesn't bother me as much since it's rooted & I can go in and delete old stuff, though not everything.
The big problem is settings, for example, I had installed the various wallpapers & tweaks. And I had accidently installed that TV addons crap for kodi (was just looking for a tool to modify my settings from in the program, ended up with that installed). And after that installed, my AFTV will NOT go into sleep mode.
So after a factory reset & data/cache directorys wiped, I still can NOT go into sleep mode because those do NOT wipe everything.
So how can I get my AFTV back into some sort of pristine state it was before I started making these changes that do NOT seem to go away after resets?

Theres a way but it might risk losing root and i wouldn't want to root from scratch on this box.
I doubt its the tvaddons thats causing it to not sleep. Make sure you set the shutdown timer in kodi to quit. If it still doesn't sleep go to aftv homescreen and click display then set screensaver start time to "never". Im not sure why but this has worked for some users.

Before TVaddons, my AFTV went into sleep mode no problem. After that it didn't. While it may not be the cause, it's pretty funny how it was the only change and after it sleep mode no longer worked. (I'm not knocking the tvaddons, it seemed cool, even suggested it to a friend who's into that stuff, it's just not what I need and I thought i was just installing a configuration tool, not some big package thingy)
But besides all that, I did a factory reset, that stuff shouldn't be an issue.
I currently have the bootloader installed (paritial bootloader i think) and Rbox's 51.1.4.0_user_514006420 installed.
If for me to clear my system completely needs me to reroot it, I have no problem with that. I still have updates turned off on my router.
I would just like to get it to a completely clean state seeing as factory reset doesn't do that. TBH, I'm sort of surprised that the factory reset doesn't actually clear everything, first device I've had where that has happened.
Anyways, any suggestions/ideas on it would be great.
thanks
My Kodi was set to Off, and I am trying the screensaver turned off now. One thing I want to point out was that after the reset and I reinstalled Kodi, it still had the settings for my networked drive in it, even though it did the "setuping up for first time" thingy. Just more proof that the factory reset sucks by not deleting everything that doesn't belong.
Turning the screensaver off didn't make sleep mode come back on right away, but some hours later I noticed that it finally had gone into sleep mode.

Glad its working. All my other devices use twrp and I do full wipes all the time but given the sensitive nature of rooting and keeping root on this box I'm not 100%certain how to advise. In twrp I'd do advanced wipe then check off everything and swipe. Then I'd reboot to recovery and push the ROM back to my device and the root process is simple and straightforward. Common sense tells me since rbox's ROMs are prerooted it would be simple but the way it was described to me awhile back seemed pretty tedious. I wouldn't mind getting a clear method to the op's question if anyone has it...
But a little insight into why I wanted to know--like you I thought I had installed some malware that caused glitches. It turned out to be something totally unrelated and a full factory reset would've been unnecessary. However, a guide on how to do a clean install might be useful if it doesn't run a high risk of losing root or bricking.
doess anyone have an answer on this yet? I am having some problems with different functions within kodi & factory reset doesn't do the trick. I've factory reset, reinstalled KODI & still had my old setup there & functioning! Fresh Start & factory reset still doesn't solve my issue.
I've been having a similar issue with a game. Hungry Shark Evolution. Somehow, the data has been corrupt and the game won't load beyond the splash screen. I recently upgraded to the latest Rbox pre-root after doing a factory reset. Not everything was deleted. I have also disabled the GameCircle whipser sync, so that if the data was stored there, it wouldn't be reinstalled upon a reset, but that didn't clear it either. I'm fairly certain other items remained as well after the factory reset/upgrade. I don't mind loosing root and having to start completely from scratch. Anyone have a full solution? I'm hoping that the upgrade to 5.0.5 might fully wipe it. Awaiting Rbox's pre-root.
*I also have noticed my FTV won't go into sleep mode. I did install the TV Addons as well, but have since removed it.

You may have to try ... a factory re-set (Settings - Backup & Restore), unfortunately. Use an app first to back up text messages and make sure you are backing up to your google account before doing the factory re-set to be able to restore all your apps, contacts, etc.
Good luck,
S.

you can try factory reset if it doesnt work then use KDZ firmware for your variant verizon and flashs with LGUP.
just make sure that you flash the correct KDZ.
A factory reset is a lot of work though. I am going to try disabling Verizon bloatware (DT ignite, VZ Navigator, NFL Mobile, etc) and removing other installed software first to see if this helps. It would be nice to know more about what this error message actually means.

Yes, it can be ... for an explanation of what the error may be (it was my first thought as well) and some other possible solutions you may not have come across or tried yet, check this out: https://www.quora.com/What-is-android-process-acore
The factory-reset may in the end, be less work than disabling/ troubleshooting every app, one by one - doing more than one at a time will not help you isolate the problem ... in the event it recurs.

i think it wont work.. youll end up factory reset.
Update: the android.process.acore error is gone for now anyway.
I got another error saying unfortunately contacts storage has stopped. This error stopped happening after I disabled the Verizon messaging plus app on the G4.
I believe the carrier bloatware is a source of system instability. Next phone will be an unlocked LG G6, hopefully it will run better.

Safest way to re-lock bootloader

What is the safest way to go about re-locking my bootloader? The reason I ask is that many apps on my phone just don't seem to work right, some refuse to open, some crash immediately upon opening, some I have to touch the screen multiple times to go back etc. Trying to figure out what the cause would be and thinking of re-locking the bootloader and factory resetting to see if that fixes it.
Thanks.

Do the factory reset first before even thinking about locking the bootloader to see if that fixes things. Even then don't lock it!
However, if you must lock it, be full factory stock with no mods or root and stock recovery. Leave OEM unlocking and USB debugging ON until your finished locking it. Good luck to you.

Don't relock the bootloader!! You'll just be asking for trouble and a possible brick. The problem you're having with apps has nothing to do with the bootloader being unlocked. If you're thinking of factory resetting then flash the stock firmware with fastboot. That'll accomplish the same thing and will also put a fresh system on your device.
Thanks, will try the factory reset first and avoid locking the bootloader if at all possible. I have my suspicions on the bootloader causing any issues with the apps, and sounds like it is not that, so am happy to leave it alone. Some of the apps it does not bother me, but for example I picked up a DJI drone and the DJI Go 4 app gets stuck in a loop constantly on my phone, yet works perfectly on my tablet. Figured trying getting the phone as close to factory as possible would be a place to start with figuring it out, just not looking forward to having to re-install all the apps!!

Is your tablet on pie? There are apps that have not been updated to support pie os. I'm guessing a drone app hasn't been updated.
Good point, the tablet is not on Pie. Is there a way to check if an app is updated? For example Stringify does not open at all, just hangs on the splash screen until Android asks if I want to close it, yet my phone has a permanent notification that it's running (it used to open). IFTTT will open and work, but after I create a new applet, it shows recommended applets, but won't let me back out of that without clicking it dozens of times. There are other apps that just hang in random spots as well. Figure if I can quickly check if they are updated, that may help.

I don't know of a good way. I just looked at stringify in the play store and it seems lots of people are having issues, including one who specifically referenced it not working on pie.
Looks like a factory reset did the trick, both Stringify and DJI Go appear to be working, what is now causing me problems is that I no longer have Samsung Wear and cannot find it to install it, which without it, makes my watch all but useless.
