Hello,
I have a small problem with black border around the display. Sometimes I dont have some black pixels in one line at the right bottom corner. It is ok after restart or after turn off (to always on) display.
Pixels aren't dead, they are correctly working so it's probably a SW bug. I know about one or two next devices with the same problem.
Do you know how to repair this? I tried factory reset and many display settings and it is the same but it doesn't work. A simple solution would be to set a frame 1px larger. Is it possible, for example, with ADB?
It is S20 5G (SM-981B/DS), here is the photo:

Look through your apps which need access to drawing on the display or something like that. I don't think that is a bug with one UI. Try disabling all "draw over screen" apps you have and look if the problem still persists.

I can see the bug after factory reset. The device has only default apps at this time. I tried to disable special permission for all apps and it is the same.
See if it happens in safe mode.
Anything show up with Screen Test?
Could even be a bug in that firmware version.

Yes, it´s in safe mode too. Problematic pixels are correctly changing color in the screen test.

Interesting. I would blow it off as it's on the firmware or the original software load.
-or-
If you look at the loaded app cache* after a reboot before it appears then wait until it appears then check the cache for newer apks; it's one of those.
Likewise when does it appear; a fixed amount of time or after a specific action?
It may be an apk on the autostart menu that's down on the priority list.
The app Autostarts might be helpful in giving clues.
* Developer options>running processes (or cache apps) may be helpful although it may not show up there. The cache processes is more likely to pigeon hole it.
Device Care>Memory is an easy way to see what apks are cached. If you clear it and it happens afterwards you can easily see what apks were just cached.
PD MDM package disabler can be used to block a suspect package or clear it's data or cache.
It can completely clear the data, App Settings can not.
Apparently the latter leaves behind nulls or something that can still corrupt the data.
PD MDM is powerful tool useful for cleaning up messes but use it carefully...

Thanks for tips.
I haven't tried to stop all of the processes yet. There are a lot of them. I will finish it today.
If the bug isn´t shown, I can do anything or open all apps and it is still ok. Bug comes when I lock the screen and display goes to turn off. When I unlock the phone, one time it is ok, second not and still around...
Bug doesn´t show spontaneously during using phone - bug still precedes lock screen.
I received a new update of the system now and it looks like a fix of my problem. I tried all possibilities and bug doesn't show yet

This normally happens after I upgrade to a new ROM (doesn't matter which ROM) but not always.
I can have the HTC clock not displaying the right time, so for example:
- The big clock on the Home screen shows: 11:07.
- The little clock on the top right of the screen shows 11:18
- But if you press the big clock on the Home screen, it goes to World Clock and it actually displays the right time, which is say 11:36
Not sure why - sometimes 3-5 soft resets fix this, sometimes it doesn't. Anyone experiencing the same thing? I have G-Alarm and PhoneWeaver installed.

Disable time synchronizing in Phone settings.
Did you install a 01:02 clock flip fix?
Tried turning it off and reset, still the same.
I didn't install the clock flip fix. But even if I do, the clock on the task bar (top right) is still wrong (which is not part of the Manilla interface)
UPDATE: Anyway, after like 5 soft resets, problem seems to go away as usual..guess can't help it
Had such a problem on my old Hybrid ROM's. People where reporting it, however I personally never got it. So imho it's an issue with the timezone.
I've had exactly the same problem.
The time/clock in Sense seems to freeze on the hometab, but a smaller program (I use Battclock) is showing the correct time on the taskbar. If I go to "Start menu" and then back, the clock will flip and update correctly.
Haven't figured out the cause nor the solution. Anybody?
...and if it matters, I'm using "Co0kie's Home Tab" for modding the Home screen.
Easy. Just do a soft reset multiple times until it's fixed by itself somehow Make sure you turn off the time synchronization online like jackos said too
Firstly, turn the time zone synchronization is Phone settings.
If it doesn't work I'll provide you a bit more firmly steps.
PS Uninstall ANY 1:02 cloak fixes. There is imho just one version by amrullez (or whatever he is called, sorry) that actually doesn't freeze the cloak.
Thanks for your replies.
- I had Time sync. disabled under Phone settings, nevertheless, time freezing on home tab.
- I haven't installed any 1:02 fixes, but still the same clock freeze.
- Used both TouchLockPro and ManilaLock from Co0kie's Home Tab). Both of those lockers seem to display the time straight from Manila/Sense, so when the time froze on the Home tab, it was also frozen on the unlock screen (had to unlock each time and check the actual time on the taskbar (using Battclock).
I did find a "way" out of this (at least it has been working for almost a day now), although I'd like to find a more stable fix for this:
I installed the S2U2 locker (but I prefer other less memory demanding lockers). It seems as when S2U2 unlocks it "forces" home tab to refresh (similar to when I go to "Start menu" and then back). Will let you know if this fails.
Jackobs, have you got another way to fix this (especially so we don't have to depend on S2U2 or other "not quite" solutions)?

I'm using TouchLockPro too and I don't think that it does use the time from Sense
By the way, I'm Jackos not Jackobs Anyway Jacobs sucks, so please keep in mind that this coffee is ****
OK, be sure that the time isn't synchronizing with the internet. Sense -> Settings Tab -> Data Services -> Internet time sync -> Uncheck Get time from internet
Now the "hard" way. Usually the cloak freeze problem is related to autotimeupdate.exe. The file is in ROM, but we can just exclude it from loading at the start. Go to HKLM\init\ and delete the key called autotimeupdate.exe.
Remember, that I have never got this issue, but I had similar problems with my old Hybrid ROM's and a lot of users reported back that the issue is fixed by deleting this registry key.

Totally agree on TouchLockPro not using the time from Sense, but since it shows the Home tab with the flip clock "in the background" the time isn't correct when you want to quickly check the time (although the time on the little taskbar clock is right, but not quite as handy).
Also, all apologies for the name misunderstanding, Jackos, my bad =)
Will revert back to TouchLockPro from S2U2, see if the time continues to freeze as before, if so apply your fix and report if it keeps freezing.
Many thanks Jackos!!
Did a search and found some similar issues but mine seems a little different, so here goes:
This happened before when I was on the Darkstar ROM, switched to CM9 and it worked fine for weeks, until now. My list of installed apps in the store suddenly went from 82 to 36. The apps that are missing now say they are not compatible with my device. Also, the Movies button on the main store page is just gone, there's a blank space where it was.
I'm guessing for some reason the phone isn't being recognized as an Epic Touch. It's odd because this happened just in the middle of the day, I hadn't been doing anything weird and I hadn't just rebooted. I've tried unlinking my Google account and signing back in again but that didn't change anything. Anyone have an idea how to fix this? Any help is appreciated!
If you can download (or already have) Titanium Backup, you could try the Market Doctor and see if it will relink the apps.

Gave it a shot but unfortunately that didn't fix it. But thanks for the idea!
I think the main problem here is that for some reason the store sees my phone as something other than what it is. I'm not quite skilled enough to troubleshoot or fix this myself though. Any other suggestions are more than welcome!
Try using Device Spoofer on the Play store to spoof your own device. Just reboot and down load 1 free app for it to register the new device. Reboot and check your market again.

I had the exact same problem... and I tried the spoofer and it didn't work.
1st make sure your screen res is native.. i think it's 240
2nd the only way I found to get them back was to pull the .apk's from another backup I had on my desktop and then sideload them all... they work fine now.. but not sure about updating them..
hope that helps
Just remembered that I had the same thing happen the first time I installed ICS, the market said that Astro's key wasn't compatible with my phone. I had to go back to GB to get it to work. I think it is something to do with the screen res and the version because changing the resolution can make it do the same thing.
<JacK>
The problem is most likely that you've changed the screen resolution. You can set the resolution back to default and download programs or the easier fix although i believe it is not free is to download lcd modder pro. It fakes a lower resolution for market so that all the apps show up again.
Could be the screen res but what about those with this issue who have never changed their screen res? My wife and I could have the exact same roms however, hers will DL any app and mine will show a lot of apps being incompatible.
I've gotten on the play store on a computer and even though it's showing my phone as the SPH-D710 the app will still say it's not compatible. I think the issue is with the app store - even before the update it existed.
Same here
I'm having the same issue and noticed it wasn't an issue until I started flashing leaked ICS builds. I generally stick to sfhubs one click releases. Changing the screen rez back to stock didn't help either and the restore in TB didn't do anything.
It's annoying that the market hides apps that won't work on the phone but it'll show the result on the web site and list as incompatible. I'm not a fan of that sort of hand holding. I bet if I flash back to ginger it'll be fine.
Ug, I miss my nexus. I'll never go back to a none nexus android phone again. I don't care if the specs are better.
After changing the resolution back to 240, go to settings > applications > all
Force stop, clear cache, clear data for both Google Shopper and Google Services Framework.
Then reboot and open play store and agree to TOS (you should see YouTube/videos in the list of TOS if you did it all right).
After that, you can change your dpi back and reboot.
I tend to have this same problem and notice that the Movies/Videos option goes missing the same time I start having the problems.

You referring to the ro.build.product? It says SPH-710 now, I'll have to check it when it breaks the links again and try editing that before clearing data and such. For the curiosities and giggle ****s. Rom toolbox is really handy. Thank ya.
I have a couple questions regarding the ICS update, as I flashed FF18 One-click root last night.
1) What happened to the screen capture shortcut?
2) I know that the Data Roaming notifications are a little buggy, is there any way to permanently disable them? Either through removal of a apk file, or something else?
3) Is there a reason for such the quick battery drain? I had it charged to near 100 percent last night, so I unplugged it and left it connected to WiFi over night (that was ~7 hours ago). When I woke up, the battery level was at 52, and after 30 minutes of light use (browsing the web with chrome, looking at settings, and configuring tasker with an attempted "Theft Profile it was down to 38.
4) With ICS comes a new way to incorporate applications and what not, generally I like to remove as many homebrewed apps (like Social Hub for example) when I first flash the device. Is there a list of safe ICS applications to remove?
I am sure I will have some more questions over time as my dad gets the upgrade himself, he will be asking me questions as well, but those were the ones that were on the top of my lsit.
Thanks
1) it's power + volume down now, just hold it for 1 second.
2) I haven't gotten one yet since the update, but if they are like they were, there's that checkbox on the notification to permanently dismiss it
3) I had the same thing yesterday, on day 1 of my ICS update. Seems slightly better this morning, but we'll see... this morning I've used 6% of my battery in 34 minutes since unplugged, with about half of that time awake with screen on. One thing I'm suspicious of is the new Sprint ID switcher thing.
The good: Open it. Switch from "Samsung" ID pack to "My ID" pack. Bam. Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich launcher, no TouchWiz.
The bad: Download "Home Manager" app from Play market. Observe both "Launcher" and "TWLauncher" are running. ...and if you had a third party launcher like I do (Go Launcher EX), you probably ALSO see that one "running". You can use this app to kill the others, but it seems temporary, although I've been switching and configuring and have only used it 1 day. Having 2-3 launchers simultaneously seems like that could use a little more battery to me.
4) Can't tell you that, I'd think whatever the old GB list was would still be valid, as a baseline, and maybe you'll find more you can remove later.
Personally, I think the "better safe than sorry" route is to install a rooted kernel with a recovery, take a nandroid backup, so that if you delete an app that's "not safe", you can restore your nandroid and be back in business.
1) Thanks, that was bugging me.
2) This is because I am in a low signal area and switching back and forth between towers.
3) I don't have an issue with the launcher (I also froze the TWLauncher application though):

4) Will just have to start freezing things and finding out what doesn't work I guess.
5) Is it normal for the apps to be randomly force closing, stalling, black screening, unresponsive? Unfortunately, I can't wipe dalvik cache without custom recovery (or if I can, I don't know how)?

If you are rooted, you can wipe dalvik-cache using Auto Root Option E and choosing wipe dalvik cache.
Auto Root can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342728
You can also just do it from an adb shell
su
rm /data/dalvik-cache/*
reboot
Thanks sfhub, I will try that. EDIT: sfhub. that didn't seem to work:
(see attached picture)
END EDIT
The battery issues are still a huge concern for me. I am getting 4 - 6 hours less than my average:

All of these were taken today with low - normal usage. Checking e-mail, sending a small amount of text messages, browsing web, using Google Translate.

I've been working with the new update the last few days, and noticed some odd changes made by Samsung.
Most annoying is this huge gap between my toggles and brightness slider/notifications. I have disabled the media controls and have no background apps running.
I think they attempted to make notifications easier to access for one hand operation, but we need a way to change this! Or give me the option to add all of my toggles into the gap!

I think it's the place for "Device and Media buttons". Try to activate in "Quick panel layout". There's "Show device and media buttons above notification" option. Maybe on then off.
I don´t have that gap in my Note 10+. Just below the 6 icons I have the brightness slider. Weird.
No gap here either.
I have similar problem. Only that i have a problem with whole screen notification window even though it is empty.

That usually happen when no factory format is made between hard UI changes.
The objects and placeholders stay there even though they are empty. Have you tried a factory reset after UI3 update?
That also happened on KITKAT to Marshmellow and was a usual issue when the update wasn't factory reset afterwards.
The UI would update and new elements were put in place but the old ones would still be there and originated large gaps or invisible toggles.

I've never seen this icon until I installed then Uninstalled Edgetouch by Good Lock. Anybody knows how to get rid of this annoyance?
Did you set edge touch to optimized setting before uninstalling?
I don't think that's even part of that app.
I just ditch it, no issues.
Try in safe mode.
Try clearing system cache.

Yes I set it back to optimize before I uninstalled. I'll try Safemode.
No luck after safe mode and clearing system cache. I used the phone for a full week without a case and never saw this icon until I installed edgetouch. It happens every time my palm touches the screen while using without a case. Palm touches without a case are unavoidable with the S20 ultra

Thank you.
For reminding me of this apk.
I had forgotten it was running and with the case I use it's not needed. The bloody thing was causing edge zone cut/paste issues.
I had been blaming One Handed Operation + for that issue. Fixed
I don't think this apk is causing your issue though. Try reinstalling it and see if any change ocures. It's definitely a 3rd party apk though.
Sometimes poorly written apps will alter hidden settings. Never seen one do something like this though; I think it's a currently running app on your system. If safe mode removes it, there's no doubt.
If a system app it may be a bugger to find.
I look at the app cache (Device Care) after clearing it to see what loads first and/or when the icon first appears. I also use Package Disabler to troubleshoot this kind of issue; disable the offending apk, it will disappear.
I would not do a factory reset as it will likely reoccur unless you ID the root cause.
Play with it... sometimes it takes a while but the answer will eventually turn up
Note: always use a good case. These phones will get severely damaged eventually otherwise.
They are corner hitting, face planting happy devices. I use the Zizo Bolt on my Note 10+, it has provided excellent protection. The kickstand tends to break but that's it's only weakness.

I feel like such a noob. That was my edge panel handle that mysteriously got moved to the bottom of the screen lol. Could have happened when I was trying different resolutions and DPIs.
I take my case off only at home. The S20 ULTRA is already a big device and the added bulk of a case can become uncomfortable very quick. I've not cracked a phone screen since the S6 edge and I've carried caseless about 90 percent of the time. As heavy as this thing is I know one drop on concrete and it's over the screen
