I've been working with the new update the last few days, and noticed some odd changes made by Samsung.
Most annoying is this huge gap between my toggles and brightness slider/notifications. I have disabled the media controls and have no background apps running.
I think they attempted to make notifications easier to access for one hand operation, but we need a way to change this! Or give me the option to add all of my toggles into the gap!

I think it's the place for "Device and Media buttons". Try to activate in "Quick panel layout". There's "Show device and media buttons above notification" option. Maybe on then off.
I don´t have that gap in my Note 10+. Just below the 6 icons I have the brightness slider. Weird.
No gap here either.
I have similar problem. Only that i have a problem with whole screen notification window even though it is empty.

Figured it out! Tidal was running in the background but not showing, so I turned off the app notifications for it.

That usually happen when no factory format is made between hard UI changes.
The objects and placeholders stay there even though they are empty. Have you tried a factory reset after UI3 update?
That also happened on KITKAT to Marshmellow and was a usual issue when the update wasn't factory reset afterwards.
The UI would update and new elements were put in place but the old ones would still be there and originated large gaps or invisible toggles.

Hi all,
I just wanted to show my first android app I developed. It is a bit similar as notification toggle, but I just developed it to learn java/android.
You can set 3 different settings as notification toggles (wifi, screen rotation, bluetooth), seems unnecessary for cm9/7
You can set any app as a shortcut
always-on-top accessibility service
notification panel folds when shortcut is selected
Please tell me want you think of it, i only tested it on cm10.

True, doesn't mean I know the code to program it (yet)

I have got a freeze with but perhaps, it's because I have been too fast in pushing the toggles... By cons, it will be good that the launching of applications closes the panel of notification in same time.
Nice app bro. It works well on Team NYX RC5. Tested with Wifi and Bluetooth. If you implement GPS toggle, Flashlight and Sound toggle, it will be a very good app.
Keep up the good work.

yes true forgot to activate that function of closing the panel. Will put that in the update and will try to look into that freeze
Very useful but could use a "Start with Boot" option.

Nice work mate! I've been looking for this since I had JKay on a Samsung ROM, but I would never go back to Samsung from CM9
Is there any way to hide the blank notification icon in the status bar? I assume this is inherent to the way the shortcuts are loaded as a notification.
Also, how's it going with the auto-close drawer update?
Great
This is great. Thank you.:good:

that's finished already, but need to make some more changes, for making it more memory efficient.
But i thought nobody was really interested
it is not possible to hide it, i might change it to a logo. It is also not possible to make 2g/3g or GPS switch due to android policy (even with root). Only a shortcut is possible to the settings page
For info:
This application works on Jelly Bean for bluetooth (on/off), it works too for Wi-Fi (on/off)!
Think you can add other as standby Toggle for example?
up
updated version:
Notification panel folds after app selection
Accessibility service added for always-on-top
A slightly better layout of the notification shortcuts
the accessibility service should be enabled if you want the notification shortcuts to be always-on-top of the notification panel.
see first post for apk
Great app

One of the new functionalities of Jelly Bean is the expandable notifications.
But this feature is not working on my Galaxy Nexus.
I get the same notifications as in ICS (e.g. when I receive a text message, only 1 line of the message is shown and not the complete message).
Is someone else experiencing this? Or does someone have a solution for this?
Thanks in advance.

ah, i found the reason why the expendable notification disapeared for me.
i've installed an app called Notification Toggle for Quick Settings in Notification Bar. Seems that this and the "Accessibility Settings" for the App disabled the expandable notifications.
Maybe you've also installed a similar app, or its just not the "top" notification as Unlawful has stated

Might be stupid but have you tried using two fingers to 'slide'down/expand the notification. Only the top notification is expanded by default and your top one from the screenshot appears to be Google Now.
Or a third-party application may be disabling expandable notifications as juxli125 has stated.
Pff, I'm stupid. I found why only 1 line was showing. Drag the notification up (only 1 line will show) or down (full notification) with 2 fingers, you will see the result

Sorry wrong thread
Does any of you use the GoodLock module QuickStar to hide Statusbar icons? If so, do they stay hidden after a restart? Mine don't.. everytime I reboot my device, I have to manually open QuickStar in order to get the icons hide again
It would be nice to know this. I'm in a region where GoodLock isn't officially available so I use NiceLock and can't report any bugs to the developer.
Same here.
Not really a big deal BTW
Works fine with Goodlock, everything automatically gets re-hidden after restart, so much be NiceLock.
Quickstar works well if your not using synergy themes, i found if i run quickstar with synergy theme i get inverse coloured notifications.

Yeah I was guessing this. Maybe GoodLock has something like a wakeup call that triggers QuickStar to do it's job. Guess I have to contact the developer.
Thanks for the reply's.:good:
you have to download Good Lock from NiceLock Downloader Companion and install it, that will fix this issue. (see screenshot)

This is the FIX! Thank you.
For everyone in the future, I don't want unnecessary apps on my phone, therefore I just downloaded GoodLock from apkmirror since the companion apps does nothing else either, it just directs you to the download page of GoodLock. Even if you start GoodLock and get a error message, the services in the background will start and do their jobs.
(Topic shift) I'm new to Quickstar, I can't find how to select custom colors. Back when using Goodlock on my old trusty Note 4, complete custom color selectability. Is there a hidden option? Or just stripped out of the Notification Shade customizer? Thanks!

Hi, thank you Xode. I actually understood that part, but what I was saying is that though Samsung has a good number of color swatches to pick, you just can't get true custom colors, such as an exact shade of TEAL for example.
I've attached a comparison of Limited Colors vs Unlimited Colors.

I'm confused also. That just looks like the aod. What's the problem here?
You mean that you have AOD off, and when you touch the screen you want to go directly to homescreen instead of the AOD, right?
The behavior on mine is exactly this one, I would like to have the AOD instead...
That "quick pickup" BUG has been really annoying me. It started with the december update -- did not exist before then. Glad to see a solution for it.

the bug is from nov, or maybe from beginning.
Is this about the phone screen constantly waking up whenever you touch the phone, regardless of whether you have disabled things like Always On Display and all the gestures like "Lift to wake phone"? If so, there's a fix you can use through ADB. I found this solution on reddit, and it's worked perfectly for me. No downsides.
Code:
adb shell settings put secure doze_quick_pickup_gesture 0
Found the solution from this reddit thread:

Yes, thanks, I did this, and when lift to check is set OFF, I have the ambient display when I lift up the phone, and this is OK for me. But if I enable Tap to check, the phone goes to homescreen, if I disable it the screen remains dark.

for me it is very annoying - previously I used to enter my password once a week and now it happens to me several times a day because the failure to recognize my fingerprint several times forces me to use a password (and I have a long one)
I have no problems with fingerprint recognition. But since I updated 4 days ago, the fingerprint reader didn't "light up" on turned off screen several times already.
I also experienced very heavy battery drain the day after I installed the update - 35% over night, then ~15%/hour during short geocaching hike. But rebooting the phone fixed that.
Other than that, I don't really see any difference in speed/performance - I feel it's identically great as it was before.
Oh and the new "pocket detection" screen with swipe up is really annoying and difficult to unlock.
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone else lost the ability to use the cellular band selection hidden network setting - under the Call Settings menu? I'm not able to access it in Android 13. It says the app is no longer installed.
This is the menu: com.samsung.android.app.telephonyui.hiddennetworksetting.MainActivity
Update went smoothly for me, no hiccups or crashing problems after it.
Biggest problem I've had so far, like jenda.69 mentioned, is the new accidental touch protection screen, not sure why Samsung felt the need to change something when it was already working well. I could not for the life of me unlock the screen.
Other than that, I'd say everything else is pretty good. Mini stutters from OneUI 4 are fixed, like the ones that happened often in the quick settings menu. Personally I prefer the animations from OneUI 4 but I don't have a problem with the new ones either. The new clock font options are pretty slick as well.
Lastly some nitpicks; The default animated call screen is gone which is a very minor thing but I did like that gradient animation a lot and how it changed according to contact pictures. New one is pretty dull. Samsung didn't make use of the new Android 13 media player either which is kinda disappointing but I don't have too big a problem with that.
Overall a decent update. 9/10 has a little something for everyone
