Did a search and found some similar issues but mine seems a little different, so here goes:
This happened before when I was on the Darkstar ROM, switched to CM9 and it worked fine for weeks, until now. My list of installed apps in the store suddenly went from 82 to 36. The apps that are missing now say they are not compatible with my device. Also, the Movies button on the main store page is just gone, there's a blank space where it was.
I'm guessing for some reason the phone isn't being recognized as an Epic Touch. It's odd because this happened just in the middle of the day, I hadn't been doing anything weird and I hadn't just rebooted. I've tried unlinking my Google account and signing back in again but that didn't change anything. Anyone have an idea how to fix this? Any help is appreciated!
If you can download (or already have) Titanium Backup, you could try the Market Doctor and see if it will relink the apps.

Gave it a shot but unfortunately that didn't fix it. But thanks for the idea!
I think the main problem here is that for some reason the store sees my phone as something other than what it is. I'm not quite skilled enough to troubleshoot or fix this myself though. Any other suggestions are more than welcome!
Try using Device Spoofer on the Play store to spoof your own device. Just reboot and down load 1 free app for it to register the new device. Reboot and check your market again.

I had the exact same problem... and I tried the spoofer and it didn't work.
1st make sure your screen res is native.. i think it's 240
2nd the only way I found to get them back was to pull the .apk's from another backup I had on my desktop and then sideload them all... they work fine now.. but not sure about updating them..
hope that helps
Just remembered that I had the same thing happen the first time I installed ICS, the market said that Astro's key wasn't compatible with my phone. I had to go back to GB to get it to work. I think it is something to do with the screen res and the version because changing the resolution can make it do the same thing.
<JacK>
The problem is most likely that you've changed the screen resolution. You can set the resolution back to default and download programs or the easier fix although i believe it is not free is to download lcd modder pro. It fakes a lower resolution for market so that all the apps show up again.
Could be the screen res but what about those with this issue who have never changed their screen res? My wife and I could have the exact same roms however, hers will DL any app and mine will show a lot of apps being incompatible.
I've gotten on the play store on a computer and even though it's showing my phone as the SPH-D710 the app will still say it's not compatible. I think the issue is with the app store - even before the update it existed.
Same here
I'm having the same issue and noticed it wasn't an issue until I started flashing leaked ICS builds. I generally stick to sfhubs one click releases. Changing the screen rez back to stock didn't help either and the restore in TB didn't do anything.
It's annoying that the market hides apps that won't work on the phone but it'll show the result on the web site and list as incompatible. I'm not a fan of that sort of hand holding. I bet if I flash back to ginger it'll be fine.
Ug, I miss my nexus. I'll never go back to a none nexus android phone again. I don't care if the specs are better.
After changing the resolution back to 240, go to settings > applications > all
Force stop, clear cache, clear data for both Google Shopper and Google Services Framework.
Then reboot and open play store and agree to TOS (you should see YouTube/videos in the list of TOS if you did it all right).
After that, you can change your dpi back and reboot.
I tend to have this same problem and notice that the Movies/Videos option goes missing the same time I start having the problems.

You referring to the ro.build.product? It says SPH-710 now, I'll have to check it when it breaks the links again and try editing that before clearing data and such. For the curiosities and giggle ****s. Rom toolbox is really handy. Thank ya.

Hey guys, after a while I realized that quite a lot of people prefer lower than stock LCD densities on their phones. At first I thought it was stupid, until I tried it and now I can't go back to 240 without swearing because everything is too big.
My problem,as everyone else's,is with the Market not showing apps as compatible. So two days ago I stumbled upon this guide for modifying the Market.apk.I did everything the guy said to the letter(although I signed using Signapktik on my phone instead of SignApk),and it worked at first.I don't know how and why,but is stopped working after a while and it still doesn't work.I've modified more Market apk's,including the newest 3.5.15,but it still doesn't work.
Below is attached the latest one I made.I think,if someone can do something to help, many people will benefit from this.
Thanks in advance guys!

Lol, is somebody else confirmed is working just for some time or for a long time? From which thread is that guide? This market issue is really, really a big pain for me. I will be glad to help you and other somewhat to fix this issue.

Yes,this thing with the Market is a pain in the butt. The guide was just what some guy in the Android Themes and Apps section followed to mod Market 3.4.6 .In his thread reports were the same.It worked for some time and then stopped.I think it didn't work for everyone though.
However,my knowledge on apk editing is less than minimal. So I hoped that someone more knowledgeable than me would take it from here.I tried and,for the time being, failed.Maybe I will try again tomorrow...
Turns out that there is a temporary solution to density problems with the market. We just have to follow a certain procedure. So,supposing we all want to lower our lcd density and not increase it,we should do the following in the given order(as LordClockan's IceColdSandwich rom says-it's based on AOKP I think):
i)Using whatever method you like(I prefer Root Explorer, but you can also do it via other apps or even adb) change ro.sf.lcd_density=240 in your build.prop to ro.sf.lcd_density=160.
ii)Reboot.
iii)Once booted,go to Settings>Applications>Application Management(Or whatever,my menus are Greek)>"All" tab and find Market/Google Play Store.Clear its data.
iv)Go back to your homescreen, open Market/Play store and hit accept in the prompt.
v)Then again, change your lcd density to whatever value you want.Mine is ro.sf.lcd_density=200 for example.
vi)Check if it works.I suggest searching for Mobile Odin in Play Store because it shows up as incompatible with non-normal densities. You can check with any app you know that is incompatible with low densities. If it works, you're okay.If it doesn't,repeat from step (i).
I found that,if not followed to the letter,it won't work,so don't skip any steps.I hope this helps until a permanent solution shows up.Unless this is a permanent solution after all...
I haven't tried the above method yet but this version of the market works http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23336920
You'll need to make sure market updater is uninstalled but thanks for this, next flash I'll try this out.

Well,I'll make sure to give that a try next time I get trouble(almost sure I will ).Thanks
However, what makes the method I posted effective,is that it will work with any version of the Market, new or old.I for one am using latest 3.5.15 with no issues.
Can anybody help with the issue i am having in touchwiz. Changed the density to 200 and get following screen issue.

Well, yes: TouchWiz isn't designed to run on any resolution, so you're having this problem. The Email app and Dialer are smaller than normal - they're not handling other densities than 240. Strangely, Messaging works just fine.
Thanks. Oh well back to 240
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
Why ? unless you have poor vision (which I can understand), everything looks much better at a higher density; you should see it on 160, it's like a shrunk tablet
Just get a better launcher (Apex Launcher or Go Launcher are both good) which can be adjusted for the new screen density and you're good to go ! perhaps get a new email app and a new dialer if their small size bothers you.
Tried launcher pro and it was fine. But the issue with email and dialer would annoy me.

Found an old working version that was killable in running processes.
Been looking for this for a while and naturally it was right under my nose here at xda
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12890318&postcount=222
somewhere right around version 5.4 or 5.5 they modified the app to never die, when stopped from running services.
got sick of freezing the app in titanium after every use...and just stopped using it
now this old version 5.3.1 is killable right from running processes.
no more unauthorized big brother data collecting, thanks though for offering.
to install use root explorer and replace maps.apk with this version (rename it to maps.apk) in /system/app
then reboot, it will automatically install.
uninstall your current version with titanium backup first.
the latest google maps can be force closed from the app list...
its a little more menu navigating than desired to kill each time but i guess it works.
v5.3.1 can be killed from running processes and is a good solution if you dont need some minor features of the latest version
to create a widget to running processes, long press the home screen, select shortcuts, scroll to settings, select 'running processes'
just tested 5.4.0 and it remained in running processes after stopping
so this is it...for the weary...use 5.3.1
you need autorun manager. it keeps most apps from starting up on their own. works for me with the latest version of google maps.
and then you always have autorun manager, running...
one more thing i dont need

its not a task killer that needs to be running. it modifies apps by taking away thier autostart permissions. you close it after youre done, and thats basically it.
I have the most update google maps and its never in running processes. I read somewhere that unchecking everything gps related you'll be able to close it.
Your problem could be you have apps the poll your location every so often. Even if you have gps off it'll use cell towers and get a approx. Location.
Try going into location settings and unchecking these boxes.
Specifically Googles Location Services that grants apps premission to find you.

ok and then when i start an app that relies on these services they wont find my location like i want them to...

there's nothing wrong with v5.3.1
it works just as good as 6.x - or better imo
thanks jdee...sounds like a good solution to my issues with the new google maps
just a shame i should have to spend money on the pro version for my phone to behave the way i desire.

Double post.
jdee i tried autorun manager and was unable to make it die from 'running processes'
i tried disabling receivers and also chuck norris mode.
the only way i was able to kill it was to use 'force stop' in the 'ALL' app list manager
i guess this works, just a little more menu navigation than desired.
autorun manager is useless at killing maps, unless i'm missing a setting.
also autorun manager did indeed start itself after i closed it
Am I the only person who gets great battery life and performance (even on cm9) and doesn't have to modify/kill/force stop/freeze/remove apps/remove auto start permissions/disable apps/disable services/disable functions for anything? I just use the phone. No issues, great battery, great performance, system recovers as much ram as I need when I need it. Can go a week of up time without any slow downs or excessive battery drain no problem.

Hello all!
I have a T989D (Koodo) running the latest SlimBean rom v3.0.0. There is one game from the Play Store, Monopoly, that constantly refuses to install saying it's not compatible. It installs fine on CM10 stable and also on AOKP JB Milestone 1, both on the very same phone. But when running SlimBean, it just won't install. In fact, it doesn't even show if you do a Play Store search, you have to browse to it through your purchased app list, and then you're given the "This application isn't compatible with your device" nonsense. One obvious answer would likely be "Just use CM10 or AOKP", but I really prefer SlimBean. It's level of customization is astonishing, and I like that.
I have compared the build.prop files from the 3 ROMs mentioned, and have done 1 correction in the file under SlimBean, but it hasn't changed a thing (yes, I have cleared Play Store data and cache). Needless to say, I have rebooted a million times too, as well as reinstalling from scratch about 6-8 times.
Every other app installs fine, just this one. Of course, manually installing the APK works, and the game runs fine, but then I lose the updates that come through Google Play. And, you know, installing the "official" way just feels better...
Anyone experiencing the same issue?
Thanx in advance!
Same problem with the t989 (hercules). Electronic Arts' Monopoly cannot be found on the Play Store and I cannot install my APK that I backed up with ROM ToolBox. Can anyone help?
I'm running Slim Bean V3 with the AIO Inverted Package. Using TWRP v2.3.1.1.
Thanks!
Just for kicks, I re-did it all and installed CM10 stable. The Google Play Store can find the Monopoly game and it installs fine. Wipe all, install AOKP JB Milestone 1. Same thing, Play Store can find and install the game without problems. Wipe all, install SlimBean v3.0.0. Play Store laughs at me for even mentioning Monopoly.
Now, I also have a Nexus S and a Galaxy Nexus. Why not have some fun...
For some strange, unknown reason, Crespo and Maguro WILL install Monopoly under SlimBean v3.0.0 (using the same Google account). So it appears the problem is limited to the T-989D only...in my case at least.
Advice, anyone?
Thanx!
You think thats weird....If I have a Gingerbread rom on my phone I can go into the marketplace and search for bejeweled 2(which I purchased) and download it no problem......If ICS or JB is installed it doesnt even show up in a search.....I dont get it
the problem is in you dpi, follow the process in slimbean UI setting
set to default dpi (240), reboot, clear market cache, back, then select the dpi you want "slimbean defalt 180 dpi"
I haven't tried Gingerbread on either my Crespo or Hercules since I got them both after ICS was released. Might be worth the try though. But then again, on the Hercules, AOKP and CM10 both allow me to install Monopoly in Jelly Bean, just not when using SlimBean.
On a more positive note, the patch issued for the greyed out notification toggle switch (LED flashlight) works flawlessly and is much appreciated!
Thanx!

This has been done each and every time I retried an installation from scratch (full wipe). The procedure itself works flawlessly, it's a simple process (to change the DPI). But, still no dice. Every other app I have bought installs fine, but this one.
Thanx anyway!
+1 on this issue. It seems to be apps at random.

I followed your suggestions and changed my dpi to 240 and I'm still having the incompatibility issue.
I will try a different gapps to see if it does the trick. I'm currently using SlimBean inverted AIO package.

I just flashed CM10 Stable and the Original signed Gapps (gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip) and still have the same issues.
Original Monopoly, Qik, and other apps cannot be found in the Play Store and cannot be restored from backup due to incompatibility issues. Apparently is not gapps related and based on this fact it appears to be a JB issue.

That's really strange... In my case, only Monopoly refuses to cooperate. Not that I would want other apps to misbehave, but still... We seem to be in the dark at different levels regarding this issue. Then again, CM10 worked in my case.
Still searching for answers...
Just to knock DPI out of possible causes completely, try the multi DPI patched store:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31656210
Make sure you clear data for the store before flashing.
DPI changes is the only thing that has caused incompatibility problems. Another symptom is a incorrect count for installed apps in "my apps" in the play store.

Will re-try this again tonight when I get home. I had tried this procedure and it did not work, but I have nothing else to try anyway. I won't leave this friggin' phone alone until it does what I want, hehe.
Thanx!
Well, I could not believe this, but it happened. After seeing that once again, it did not work, I decided to laugh a bit and reinstalled the stock Koodo image. Back on 4.0.4 ICS from Koodo for T989D.
And now, guess what?????
Yep, yep & yep!!!! It won't install!!!!!!!!
Now I know for SURE it's not SlimBean's fault, something else is to blame here. A friggin' Monopoly game that installs just fine on Nexus S, but for some obscure reason refuses to install on a more powerful phone? Well, f* me!
Of course, sideloading the APK worked from the start, and worked good too! I just wanted to go at it the official way, but it appears EA or Google think otherwise.
Sideloading it is for this game! I'm done searching for the cause seeing it won't even install on stock.
Thanx to all who offered some help!
i was having the same problem installing some games but changing the dpi to 240 helped me.....:good:

I've read through a bunch of posts on this and agree that the GPS will turn on for no reason. Today was a good example it was on most all of today and I have no idea why.
So I decided to look around and while playing with Disable Service app from the market I found something about Carrier IQ. I can disable it so I did. Since doing so this afternoon my GPS hasn't been on and I cannot report any ill effects. Does it work? You be the judge... by the way this will require root access on your phone. My results are based on a brand new stock AT&T Optimus G Pro, well stock with root.
Process:
1. go to Google Play market and install "Disable Service" by WANGQI060934
2. open the app, swipe sideways to System Apps page
3. look for Android System, click on it
4. click on IQService to uncheck it
5. be happy!
I have confirmed this remains disabled after reboot. :good:

Yeah, definitely DO NOT delete or rename those 2 files. It caused android.phone to force close. It also stopped my ability to receive text messages.
I deleted the Carrier IQ after backing it up with Titanium BU and that did not affect anything. Renaming those 2 remaining files, however, did affect things.

GPS, Stock AT& LG OG Pro - Further Developments???
Without a doubt I need advise and assistance with this GPS issue.
I activated my new LG Optimus G Pro Saturday. The GPS began turning itself on yesterday so, I went to Settings and discovered it was on. I disabled it with the soft toggle switch, but had to repeat this several times throughout the day. This is annoying! This morning I turned the phone on GPS came on right away so, I checked Settings and it is disabled. No quality concern here...
I see I can download an application from the Play Store to disable, but also noted the update to a newer version of Android.
Please advise regarding my best option for be rid of this nonsense.
The steps I posted above should work for you. It still works for me on latest 10p software update.
Disabling GPS in 10P
I found and downloaded the 'Disable Service', but have not determined a known safe method to root my e980. Bin4ry's method appears to be suitable, but I need to read more. I also noticed the Asian version of Root Master being discussed as a universal method for rooting, but the warning regarding its use caused me to search for Bin4ry's method.
the asian version worked fine for my att lg e98010.what warning are u talking about worked fine for me

Since I bought the phone, the reminder subfunction of the Google calendar app doesn't work. I get reminded of events but not of reminders that I add. Other users jave reported it as well, but we haven't found a solution.
OnePlus support recommended this
"Please try reset options this will not erase data. If you only want to clear app data and restore your device to factory settings without losing the data stored in the internal storage, choose the Reset all settings option in the Reset phone menu instead of the Erase all data option."
With a perfectly working daily driver phone that's rooted and otherwise working fine, should I follow their suggestion?
Does root get wiped? Will I have to reinstall my apps?
Thanks
Try clearing just that apps data. Maybe use another calendar app if that doesn't work.
Google apps are a pain. Constant firmware and software upgrades/updates just mean more of your time spent trying to learn and troubleshoot them. Gookill is a mess.

Yup, did that, but I'll do it again. The app worked perfectly on my op7pro prior to this phone.

If you can uninstall then reinstall it try that. Check it's permissions and if it's able to run in the background. A Google search may give you more solutions; doesn't have to be that model or even brand as the same issues tend to happen on many different Androids.
If that's the only problem I would find another app to replace it. Not worth screwing up a good load over one insignificant app.
I use as little Google apps as possible. I use the native Samsung calendar instead. I use Gmail and Gmaps but Gmaps is a mess.

I tried to uninstall it but I was unable to. I couldn't even use titanium back to remove it for some reason. I should be able to remove it that way, right.
You have a valid point about not reseting over 1 app. Thanks
Blackhawks fan? Or you like the helicopter?

Indian warrior actually.
"It has pleased the Great Spirit that I am here today— I have eaten with my white friends. The earth is our mother— we are now on it, with the Great spirit above us; it is good. I hope we are all friends here. A few winters ago I was fighting against you. I did wrong, perhaps, but that is past—it is buried—let it be forgotten.
Rock River was a beautiful country. I liked my towns, my cornfields and the home of my people. I fought for it. It is now yours. Keep it as we did— it will produce you good crops.
I thank the Great Spirit that I am now friendly with my white brethren. We are here together, we have eaten together; we are friends; it is his wish and mine. I thank you for your friendship.
I was once a great warrior; I am now poor. Keokuk has been the cause of my present situation; but I do not attach blame to him. I am now old. I have looked upon the Mississippi since I have been a child. I love the great river. I have dwelt upon its banks from the time I was an infant. I look upon it now. I shake hands with you, and as it is my wish, I hope you are my friends.

This is what I get when I try to uninstall it using titanium backup.
That's interesting as it's not even present on my Samsung. With root permissions I would think you could uninstall it. However it may have dependencies.
Again I would bypass it by using another calendar app to replace it.
