Hello guys!
Sorry for any wrong word, not Native American here.
Well, researching on internet, I found a Samsung DeX website, where u can download a APP (for Mac) or EXE (for Windows) to use a Dex mode inside a PC screen (or Mac)
Requirements: Android 10 and a Dex capable device.
Tried to install the Dex on Macbook with Catalina OS (install run fine, without asking for Dev Guru thing). Restart the Mac, and the system can't detect the Tablet.
Anyone tried this too? Any clue?
afaik it only works with S-series phones running Android 10.
I have a S10 with the Dex application installed on Win10 : start the program, connect the phone and voila, Dex running.
When connecting my TAB S4 (835), nothing happens ...

Thank you Marcher for the test. Well, let's wait. Maybe someone discover how to crack this or Sammy give us this ability.
Following. I have the same issue. I don’t get the MacBook recognises my Samsung Galaxy Tab Active Pro using Samsung Dex. It does recognise the device using Android File Transfer for instance, instead. I have tried installing and te installing both softwares.
The Samsung Chat Support told me I need to buy the Samsung Dex cable, but as far as I know it is an USB-C to HDMI cable, so the connection would not be so “clean”. Actually I have seen Samsung Dex devices working on MacBooks without such a cable.
It runs Android 9 (it will run Android 10 on September) and I have heard that could be the issue (although I don’t think so).
May we need to use a special cable?

Hello! I tried with the original charger cable, with a second hand cable, with a USB-C to USB-C (MacBook Pro 2018 with 4 USB C ports) and nothing. My TAB runs Android 10. I use the TAB to take notes on meetings and lawyer school, so, the possibility to use on MAC to sync will be great. Tried to use Evernote, Onenote, etc., but the Samsung Notes it's more organized.
I think it's a string thing inside the Dex app. Like on detection, change some string, etc.
Let's wait for Sammt or some XDA "Einstein" to help us.
Samsung support answered me on twitter: the ability to run Samsung DeX on PC it's only for S Series. No plans to run on Tablets. Too bad. Thanks guys! Let's wait if some genius solve this to us!
Cya!

Hi there! I just bought the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 2. I'm trying to connect the phone to my MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion OSX so I can transfer my files and such and also access the SD card. On my previous phone, (HTC Sensation 4G), all I had to do was just connect it to the usb cable and I'll see my phone accessible on finder. This is not my case for the Note 2 right now. I even installed Android File Transfer and it still doesn't work. Android File Transfer reports, "Could not connect to device. Try reconnecting or restarting the device". And of course I tried all of that. The only thing that works is the Kies software from Samsung but the software is incredibly slow. It is telling me that it will take 10 hours to transfer a 125MB file. It doesn't make any sense at all. I'm running a maxed out MacBook Pro Retina Display and I got a spankin new phone using it's provided usb cable and I tried others. My only option to transfer files fast to my SD card is by taking it out physically and connecting it to my SD Card adapter
Please help! Thanks in advance

I've always had trouble with Android File Transfer and all my Samsung phones on my MacBook Pro. Sometimes it works and sometimes it don't. I avoid using it as much as possible now and just use AirDroid (which is slow and very similar to the Kies software) or I just remove the SD card and transfer files using an SD card adapter. I haven't found a fix or workaround to get it working properly.

Please, don't give me that "PC vs MAC" crap I have both PC and MAC and reasons why I use both operating systems. And from using Mac & PC for the past 7 years for the work that I do, Mac OS X has been by far the most reliable operating system that I've ever used. On top of that, I do a lot of radio mixing work and DJing and graphical designing and such and Mac is a must. I've had a Windows laptop before gave me nothing but issues whatsoever. I spend a lot of money buying expensive and top of the line Windows laptops and I always have to worry about maintaining the damn thing and went through a lot of stress because of it. So I'm happy with what I have. But on a side note, I find the iPhone to be the crappiest phone on the planet and I have a Dell XPS for gaming and as a multimedia box. So I hope that justifies that I'm not an apple fan boy.
I did install drivers and yes I had USB debug checked.
Anyways I found a solution for Mac users. I have VMware running Windows 7 & Windows 8. I have both operating systems connected and running seamlessly with the my Mac files so I'll be able to access and edit files that would be on my Mac on my virtual operating systems. And that was a fix for me without having to transfer any music, pictures, etc to a different PC and then transfer the files to my phone. Although it requires virtualization, it's the only thing that worked for me. I still wish there was better compatibility. I had no issues with my old HTC HD2 and HTC Sensation 4G. Samsung really got me angry about this one and their Kies software is complete crap.
Has anyone had any success connecting the Tab s to a pc using sidesync 3.
Both versions sit on 'scanning' finding nothing. I have a note 3 but due to the fact that it's still on JB I can't load sidesync on that to try it out.
I'm using Windows 7 ultimate x64
I believe that Samsung Sidesync is nothing more than bait to get people to buy these devices and not deliver as advertised. I've have never got Sidesync to work properly as they suggest with PC's (more than one) or even other Samsung devices like the S4 and the S5. I have to force the connection to the S4 anytime I want to use Sidesync. Thus far, this app is nothing more than a gimmick in my opinion since it has never worked flawlessly for me.
It doesn't support Tab to PC, read the developer responses to similar comments in the Play Store.
Only supports Tab to Phone, and Phone to PC I believe
Hi guys,
I'm looking for a software which will allow me to connect any android phone to a Windows laptop or a PC and then use the Windows device as a phone - to make & receive calls and to send/review/reply to messages.
This is already implemented in a lot of vehicles when you pair the phone and then call/answer through the car's UI. I'm looking for the same thing but using a Windows device (laptop, PC - with Bluetooth) like the car in the example.
Can you advise me about such a software?
Thanks!
Solution found!
I found a solution for Samsung devices and it's called SideSync. It's a Samsung app for the phone and a pc version with Windows and Mac support. It allows you to do everything on the PC which is great.
Since I recently switched from HOX to Galaxy S6 Active it works great for me. Don't know about other phones thought. It may be restricted to Samsung devices only? You can try and advise if it works for you.
I am using Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ (SM-N975F) with Android 10.
I am able to use the Samsung Dex on PC just fine but when i connect it to the TV through HDMI adapter, it only mirrors the screen and i get no option to turn on Samsung Dex. I have checked the HDMI connection setting too and it's set to start in Dex mode upon connection but still nothing happens.
I tried the same even on Android 9 before getting the update to Androi 10 but the issue faced was the same.
Any idea what to do? Or is there is any thing i am missing or doing wrong?
By the way i am using a USB C adapter which has 2 USB 3 ports, One USB C port and an HDMI port.
Any help would be appreciated.
I didnt know that dex also worked on tv...
it could be a fault in the adapter, it may lack the security or something that is required to pass through to HDMI. as with USB to PC it just transfers the info over a standard USB connection. but a lot of modern devices require certain security and HDMI revisions to actually work with a TV, partly to stop people putting the likes of netflix straight through a capture rig.
if you can get hold of a different make/brand of hub I would try that as it may just be that one.
Just to update that I used Samsung Dex Cable and it worked just fine with the TV. As soon as I connected through it, the option popped on phone for Dex. So yes, my Hdmi to Usbc adapter was at fault and there is always a plus side to use official accessories .
Hi All
I have a MacBook Air (yes I know) saw the light with the note 10 and wanted to get android over iPhone.
Anyway I can not for the life if me get the MacBook Air or my husbands windows 7 machine to recognise the phone. If plugged in it gives it power but won't pop up to recognise device on either machine...
I spoke to Samsung but they were next to useless about it... any advise on how I can get this working before I end up back with icrap!
Thanks
hello. I have also had this problem since the update to Android 10 and the Dex does not work.

I've got the same problem. Android 10+ and Dex(Windows 10,) does not work.
I can add, that originally, when Note 10+ launched last year , My Note 10 + (Android 9) /Dex (Windows 10) worked flawlessly.
If i connected my device to my Windows 10 laptop Dex would launch automatically, time and again.!
However lately, i think last 2 updates, to Dex,
it just really got worse. .
However,
If i connect to a tv monitor, Dex works 100 %.
No issues.
Further, Windows (Microsoft) My Phone Companion, always
had some errors. Now it working Fine.!
Point i want to make is,
If you watched, the live Samsung launch of Note 10 ((last year), Microsoft and Samsung
really" laid it on" regarding Microsoft and Samsung working together re Dex . The potential Dex had etc.
Now two big companies, with loads of experience,
cannot get it right.?
it seems to me they have been "working backwards" ?
Dex in General in its present state, errors, not launching etc, is useless for me.
