sidesync 3 won't connect tab s to pc - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone had any success connecting the Tab s to a pc using sidesync 3.
Both versions sit on 'scanning' finding nothing. I have a note 3 but due to the fact that it's still on JB I can't load sidesync on that to try it out.
I'm using Windows 7 ultimate x64

I believe that Samsung Sidesync is nothing more than bait to get people to buy these devices and not deliver as advertised. I've have never got Sidesync to work properly as they suggest with PC's (more than one) or even other Samsung devices like the S4 and the S5. I have to force the connection to the S4 anytime I want to use Sidesync. Thus far, this app is nothing more than a gimmick in my opinion since it has never worked flawlessly for me.

It doesn't support Tab to PC, read the developer responses to similar comments in the Play Store.
Only supports Tab to Phone, and Phone to PC I believe

[Q] SideSync and debloating / custom kernel

hello everyone
I bought a gtab pro 8.4 and first thing to do was to root, install a proper recovery and of course a custom kernel. After that I debloated my stock rom but I deleted nothing I would call important.
this is my first upper class samsung device since years (I own a galaxy nexus) and I have a question that may some of you could answer:
Does SideSync:
- need KNOX to work?
- depend on other preinstalled apps?
- not work if binary counter for custom roms or kernel is increased?
I can't get it to work, neither with USB nor over Wifi...
Thank you all
edit: or is sidesync on our tabs only to control the mobile phone and not to be controlled by a computer?
I have a GTP 8.4 and an S4 phone. I have SideSync 3.0 setup with them paired.
1) I believe SideSync is only between phone and tablet - no PC involved or supported.
2) After playing with it for 30 minutes or so, SideSync looks completely useless to me.
- SideSync will only connect the devices when they are both on the same WiFi network. So, if you're out and about, you can use it. If you're using your phone as a hotspot and the tablet connected to the Internet via the hotspot, you also can't use SideSync.
- There is a free app for Verizon customers called Verizon Messages, which I already have on my tablet, It gives me full SMS/MMS mirroring between my phone and tablet - without having to pair the devices.
- Leaving SideSync running all the time is a battery hog, so you wouldn't want to do that. So, when you DO want to use it, you have to start it on both devices. Well, if I'm going to pick up my phone to start SideSync, just to control it with my tablet, what's the point? I can just do whatever I need to do on my phone when I pick it up.
- Being able to place/receive calls using my tablet, with it actually going through the phone might be cool sometimes, but, as I said, if I have to grab my phone and start SideSync first, I'm probably just going to make the call using the phone. Alternatively, I'd try to figure out a way to pair my tab to the phone using Bluetooth and use the tablet as a handsfree device instead, leaving SideSync out of it.
If anyone can tell me something useful about SideSync, I'd love to hear it. I may have tried it and totally missed some cool use case.
any ideas why I can hear caller but caller cant hear me??

sidesync on note 8.0

Hello, I need to mirror the note 8 screen to my win7 PC (that doesen't have an HDMI input).
I've installed trhe samsung USB drivers on my PC, I've installed samsung sidesync 3.0 on both the PC and the note, I start sidesync on the PC, I connect the tablet via USB but when I start sidesync on the tablet it look for the PC but it doesen't find it.
The Same if I start sidesync on the PC and I ask him to find the tablet via USB, it doesen't find it. .
Any suggestion is welcome-
Thanks
Can't get sidesync to work either. Dunno if it requires KITKAT (which I don't want since that will limit write permissions to my external SD card unless rooted) I use other apps though.
1) There's mirror op presenter. Free for 5 min per use (trial) then you have to re-connect. Good thing about mirror op is that it's not limited to a pc. with mirror op on another android device or another android TV stick you can can virtually screen cast to anything particularly documents and ppt.
2) If its just a power point, wps office is another option.
3) There is the option to get a chromecast which uses native android screen mirroring.
Hope these options help.
I have my own question about sidesync though. I hope someone can advise me. I read here:
http://www.cnet.com/news/samsung-galaxy-tab-s-sidesync-takes-calls-on-tablets/
that the galaxy tab S can mirror the S5 screen as a miniwindow or app. I downloaded the sidesync and screen mirroring app from the galaxy app store (which obviously don't work even for PC) so these probably won't let me mirror the S5 screen to my note 8. Has anyone tried portiong the tab S sidesync app to the note 8 so we can mirror the s5 screen to the note 8? Here's my planned set up or use:
1) At a conference/convention/lecture
2) S5 on a small handheld tripod fixed on screen/presentation.
3) taking down noted on the Note 8.
4) S5 screen mirrored.
5) When there's a chunk of works I need to quickly take a picture of and attach to notes I just tap on the S5 miniwondow on the note 8, take a picture and drag and drop to the note 8.
Or do any of you have anyother suggestions for this usage scenario? Note 8 I believe is still the best note taking device in terms of screen real estate and size but the camera is well...just not as good as the S5. Any advice would be nice. Thanks. More power to the forums.

How to use your laptop as a phone?

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a software which will allow me to connect any android phone to a Windows laptop or a PC and then use the Windows device as a phone - to make & receive calls and to send/review/reply to messages.
This is already implemented in a lot of vehicles when you pair the phone and then call/answer through the car's UI. I'm looking for the same thing but using a Windows device (laptop, PC - with Bluetooth) like the car in the example.
Can you advise me about such a software?
Thanks!
Solution found!
I found a solution for Samsung devices and it's called SideSync. It's a Samsung app for the phone and a pc version with Windows and Mac support. It allows you to do everything on the PC which is great.
Since I recently switched from HOX to Galaxy S6 Active it works great for me. Don't know about other phones thought. It may be restricted to Samsung devices only? You can try and advise if it works for you.

Mac & Windows won't recognise note 10 for usb transfer or Dex

Hi All
I have a MacBook Air (yes I know) saw the light with the note 10 and wanted to get android over iPhone.
Anyway I can not for the life if me get the MacBook Air or my husbands windows 7 machine to recognise the phone. If plugged in it gives it power but won't pop up to recognise device on either machine...
I spoke to Samsung but they were next to useless about it... any advise on how I can get this working before I end up back with icrap!
Thanks

I've got the same problem. Android 10+ and Dex(Windows 10,) does not work.
I can add, that originally, when Note 10+ launched last year , My Note 10 + (Android 9) /Dex (Windows 10) worked flawlessly.
If i connected my device to my Windows 10 laptop Dex would launch automatically, time and again.!
However lately, i think last 2 updates, to Dex,
it just really got worse. .
However,
If i connect to a tv monitor, Dex works 100 %.
No issues.
Further, Windows (Microsoft) My Phone Companion, always
had some errors. Now it working Fine.!
Point i want to make is,
If you watched, the live Samsung launch of Note 10 ((last year), Microsoft and Samsung
really" laid it on" regarding Microsoft and Samsung working together re Dex . The potential Dex had etc.
Now two big companies, with loads of experience,
cannot get it right.?
it seems to me they have been "working backwards" ?
Dex in General in its present state, errors, not launching etc, is useless for me.

Using Samsung DeX with Macbook and a Tab S4

Hello guys!
Sorry for any wrong word, not Native American here.
Well, researching on internet, I found a Samsung DeX website, where u can download a APP (for Mac) or EXE (for Windows) to use a Dex mode inside a PC screen (or Mac)
Requirements: Android 10 and a Dex capable device.
Tried to install the Dex on Macbook with Catalina OS (install run fine, without asking for Dev Guru thing). Restart the Mac, and the system can't detect the Tablet.
Anyone tried this too? Any clue?
afaik it only works with S-series phones running Android 10.
I have a S10 with the Dex application installed on Win10 : start the program, connect the phone and voila, Dex running.
When connecting my TAB S4 (835), nothing happens ...

Thank you Marcher for the test. Well, let's wait. Maybe someone discover how to crack this or Sammy give us this ability.
Following. I have the same issue. I don’t get the MacBook recognises my Samsung Galaxy Tab Active Pro using Samsung Dex. It does recognise the device using Android File Transfer for instance, instead. I have tried installing and te installing both softwares.
The Samsung Chat Support told me I need to buy the Samsung Dex cable, but as far as I know it is an USB-C to HDMI cable, so the connection would not be so “clean”. Actually I have seen Samsung Dex devices working on MacBooks without such a cable.
It runs Android 9 (it will run Android 10 on September) and I have heard that could be the issue (although I don’t think so).
May we need to use a special cable?

Hello! I tried with the original charger cable, with a second hand cable, with a USB-C to USB-C (MacBook Pro 2018 with 4 USB C ports) and nothing. My TAB runs Android 10. I use the TAB to take notes on meetings and lawyer school, so, the possibility to use on MAC to sync will be great. Tried to use Evernote, Onenote, etc., but the Samsung Notes it's more organized.
I think it's a string thing inside the Dex app. Like on detection, change some string, etc.
Let's wait for Sammt or some XDA "Einstein" to help us.
Samsung support answered me on twitter: the ability to run Samsung DeX on PC it's only for S Series. No plans to run on Tablets. Too bad. Thanks guys! Let's wait if some genius solve this to us!
Cya!
