Hi There!
I'm new on this page. Joined here because i have special question and my search on the web didn't lead to any solution.
I got the Samsung i900v omnia with windows mobile 6.1 and would like to improve the privacy concearning sms / email inbox fotos or the list of my recent calls.
The phone has a general password which switches on after a while. But that locks the whole thing. For example I might want my girlfriend to be able to use my omnia for a call or to check something on the web, but she shouldn't have access to all of my data.
I've tested skb mobile safety suite 2.02. but its all to complicated, it seems they want to put a whole new operating system over my phone.
i would be satisfied if the normal password check would occur if certain funktions are activated - which i could select upfront.
If anyone has a solution, i would be very happy. Right now my omnia hasn't been much fun to me yet.
Thx & Cheers
Roman
I didn't see a thread about any issues regarding post-Nodo forced update. I originally posted my issue, but have since resolved mine, but there are some out there with issues. Post them here, I'll try to keep main page updated w/ any options/suggestions for FIXES. Thanks

Attempt to access "find my phone" - gives "setting up find my phone" - dialog box with OK option - phone immediately returns back to start screen - (1 user)
Phone has been displaying the roaming triangle and cell data not working as long as the data roaming options is "don't roam" - (1 user)
HTC HD7
Loss of vibration on connect (when making a phone call) - (1 user)

Poor screen quality on certain web pages (i.e. Bing pictures, WPCentral webpage) - (4 users)
Lock screen screen wrapping not functioning - (2 users - 1 after pre-NoDo force, 1 after NoDo force)
Some users have experienced loss of 3rd Party Live Tiles and FIXED with uninstall w/ re-installing. Others, including myself, have had no luck w/ uninstall-reinstall fix, but did have success w/ Hard Reset.
Weatherbug works just fine for me. Motweets does as well. AP mobile and flixster work as well. Everything is working for me. Not problems here.

Nice. I guess it's a personal issue with my device. I've heard of people having this issue just in general, and sometimes a hard reset worked. I'm just afraid of going back to the original pre-pre-nodo settings. Would that be the case? or would a hard reset still have nodo update on it?
everything is working good for me as well....only app giving me problems is one of the theme color changers and just my luck is was my fav one...no problems with marketplace apps...
I just updated my Focus on AT&T. The only problem I've found is with the Zune software. I'm currently re-syncing my entire music collection back to the phone (since I had to remove a lot of content to get the install to go through), and after a random amount of time, the sync will stop. The error is that the USB connection has been removed, but it hasn't been touched.

Some of my live tiles have been blank in the past but rebooting fixed some, just opening the program from the tile fixed some, re-pinning fixed one and reinstalling fixed another.
Anybody notice that you make a phone call it no longer vibrates on connect? I really liked that... wonder if there's a way to bring it back...?
I played it safe and uninstalled all 3rd party apps, deleted all provxml files but left it dev unlocked as i did nodo update. Seems to have paid off cos it is still unlocked and sideloading is still possible.

QUite unnecessary if you would've followed the Prevent Relock instructions. I just left mine registry unlocked and updated to NoDo and my phone and all 3rd party apps are still functional. Even installed an XAP just to be sure.
Please have these types of discussions in WP7 General. These do not contribute or add anything specifically along the lines of hacking WP7, just discussing official update issues.

10-4 there big dog. So, about this vibrate on connect issue...anybody got any ideas? Maybe it's a setting in the registry?
Posted this on the Omnia form but no replies....Screen resoluti1on on my Omnia is poorer for some web pages (specifically noticed the pictures on Bing are really banded but used to be crystal clear, WPCentral webpage also even more banded than it used to be).
Anyone else noticed this? was hoping there may be a firmware fix, but haven't found anything (was running XEN JK1 prior to the NoDo update).

woah, I just noticed the same thing, samsung focus here
also, when i attempt to access "find my phone" it gives me a "setting up find my phone..." dialog box with an ok button, when I hit the ok it goes back to my start screen
Fixed my issue
I said "F it" and did a hard reset, and, voila, after downloading all my 3rd party apps again, the live tiles are working. Didn't take long to set everything back up, as outlook had all of my contacts set up. It restored to factory settings, but with NoDo update
Yahoo! Issues
I installed NoDo Yesterday and this morning I went to check my e-mails however now I cant sync my e-mails with yahoo! anymore =S anyone else having the same problem? Or hopefully know how to fix it?
Nevermind fixed it myself apparently when it updated to NoDo Yahoo! figured it connecting was suspicious so I changed my password and all works now =) Thanks anyway!
I lost windows live calendar and contact sync. Even inside of Settings>email & accounts>Windows Live, I only have the checkbox to sync email. I tried adding another Windows Live account and that is able to sync both contacts and calendar. I am going to try to remove the original account and re-add it. Will post results shortly.
Edit: So you can't even delete the original Windows Live account you set your phone up with. I don't want to hard reset, but I will if I have to. Any other ideas?
I noticed after the Pre-NoDo Update that on the Lock Screen text is running off the screen instead of wrapping, so now it looks like utter **** in addition to being unreadable because my Calendar is filled with items that may start off the same, but the part that isn't hte same is off the screen. I'm 100% sure this was wrapping before that Pre-Update. Before it looked like this:
Calendar Item Line 1
Calendar Item Line 2
Calendar Location
Time
Now it looks like this:
Calendar Item Line 1 Cale {rest cut off}
Location
Time
I consider the "find my phone" software a necessary must on any mobile device. The ability to locate, ping, and wipe your Mobile is an extraordinary advantage in the digital age. I've used it once to find an errant iPhone 3GS and again on WP7 with a Samsung Focus along with helping my sister who continually forgets where her iPhone is.
What do you use on your Galaxy Nexus? Have you had an unfortunate circumstance that allowed you to field test it yet?
I've always had Lookout installed with all my phones. Fortunately I have never had to use it.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lookout&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5sb29rb3V0Il0.
I used ' Where's My Droid' on my N One and continue to use it on my GNex, also had loads of added bits with tasker working off the same trigger like lock phone and give warning message with a contact number to return... just in case it was a nice old lady that found it Not sure if Tasker will work fully on ICS yet so i've not set it up.
I also had Lookout installed but whenever i tried to locate it on their site it could never get a lock on. I dont know if they didn't fully support the UK that was the problem or that i was always flashing ROMs and it constantly being installed caused problems.
I have a Google Apps account for my family and a few of us have Android devices, so I installed the Google Apps Device Policy app on all the Android phones (in the Market and it's by Google). That app enables device policies and such for each user/device (encryption, syncing, syncing while roaming... anything a business would want to restrict/allow for their device). The plus about that app is that it gives me access to this (the mydevices link):
http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=1235372&topic=1233222
It's free and allows Google Apps users to lock, locate, reset pin, ring device, etc for Android devices. Remote wipe and everything else is part of Google Apps too.
Don't need a separate app and monthly fees, it's all handled by Google and works perfectly.
Interesting. Do you have to setup a server or what? I understand the client side policy app but not the backend.
How do you tie them together?

Didn't have to set up anything, no servers or tying any services together. On my android phone, I just setup my account with my Google Apps email/password, install the Device Policy app, and .... done.
All the devices show up for my family in my Google Apps control panel (under settings -> mobile if you're familiar with Google Apps's panel). And that mydevices link "just works". Don't have to set up anything else, it's great. Google does it all for you.
I believe the device policy app periodically pings Google's servers every few days (it's a bare app with no settings, only a couple pages of info on policies and current status), that process lets the Google Apps admin (me in this case) restrict/allow anything via the Apps Control panel.
The mydevices webpage is more of a "push", since "ring device", "reset pin", "locate device", and all those buttons are instantaneous. i.e. I click "ring device" and a few seconds later my phone rings super loud, even when on silent (this is assuming there is a data connection available to the phone).
I got SeekDroid from the Amazon Appstore when it was free. It's pretty good. It gives the GPS location from where the phone was last used, lets you send alarms and messages to the phone, lock the phone, and remote wipe the phone and SD card if necessary.

Unfortunately the first line is: This article applies only for Google Apps for Business, Education, and Government customers.
Any work arounds found by XDA?
Anyone else?
Another vote for Seekdroid. It always worked well on my Desire and i plan on using it with my GN. One of the best features is you can actually remove seekdroid from appearing in the phone menu or app list which prevents anyone from removing the app without your permission.
I used http://www.mobiledefense.com/ on my nexus s. Not sure if they ever released a retail version yet though. Kinda curious about the Google Apps thing now though...
Cerberus, Cerberus, Cerberus!!!
Such an excellent application! Please check it out, you won't be disappointed!!
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Prey yet.
Just tried Cerberus. Wow. Awesome! Thanks for the suggestion.
I've always used prey - I actually had a friend get his laptop stolen in Africa, and he's currently coordinating with the African police to get it back. They've made arrests and stuff - I was extremely impressed.
African police drop what they are doing to chase down a misplaced gadget?
More stories please?!
I've always used wheres my droid, but after reading above about prey i am probably going to switch to that.
I've used prey since day one and find it very good and also the ability to alert you it's missing if the sim card changes is a god send as well.
Might check out cerberus as someone mentioned it 3 times so compelled to look now lol
Just launched prey and the logon prompt is all screwed up and you cannot put in some details so you can never login... time to try others now.

Excatly.
The best i've ever tried up to now.
Love the way it enables gps also if it's down.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned AndroidLost. AndroidLost has remote wipe, GPS locate (never had to use it), send SMS/MMS from phone remotely, make calls, take pictures without the user knowing, record audio clips with the MIC without the user knowing.... all through a web page. No one else uses this?
OK,I bought my device in mid November for Xmas gift. Since the beginning of the year, I decided to use one of the perks. Low and behold I am charged. I try to contact the company involved and they say that they only provide a limited trial. But Samsung states the trial period is much longer. I contacted Samsung abouot my issue, and wonder what I was not sent during my registration. I own many Samsung devices and have had my account since late 2008. So I know my account registered the device and should have had some details in regards to perks. The only thing I got was a one time webpage with a Google play code for my credits, everything else was just unlinked information for all new subscribers to the perks.
Has anyone dealt with perks and have any ideas to resolve such issues? I don't want to be charged for something I am trying out.
Possible fix
Well, I finally an answer back from the second point of contact... they stated that they normally don't support tablet but offer support through phone service. Any way now I must call Samsung support to run through the issue one more time, so they can figure out what to do.
Some head way
OK, got done with my call to Samsung.
I learned not to register the device through your Samsung account devices page. I have many Samsung items through the years, as I had learned it is easy to go and register that way.
The proper link is http://www.samsung.com/us/register-for-your-galaxy-perks/#note-8 for the Note 8.0
Also for some odd reason they want a google email account, which I never had until after registering. Take note that if you have an existing Samsung account, the email address needed for registration completion is your gmail email address.
I wish web developers had a brain, this is not the first time I have seen such a broken way cross linking account information, just annoys the krappa out of me.
Now to fix the issue with Samung Link unable to fetch account authentication information with my Samsung account. Yes, I deleted and recreated the Samsung account many many times. Just another annoying issue. (
While waiting...
OK, while I had some time, I fixed my Samsung link issue... had to make it a system app. Samsung loaded PS Touch, and Samsung Link need to be kept as system apps. Though most of all the system apps can be removed and side loaded for Google Play to manage install/removal processes. I prefer it that way for reloads and memory management outside of using Titanium Backup. The less utilities to perform tasks the better. Somebody should do a right up on using built in function to perform most all needs, instead of finding more apps to do what you can do on your own and without rooting.
I doubt I'll ever fix the Video Hub issue... seems that it is getting info from Samsung servers about the device. If the device does not match the white list at the authentication server, your a no go at getting content. At one time the Note 8.0 was in the white list, now it looks like it is region select and will check firmware along with device.
I have an app to fake the ID and location, but Video Hub is not a concern just an odd app that has some interesting features that go beyond google play hardware requirements.
Woopie! )
Samsung got me my perks rewards resent to my email address. The Google account that I had to make since I did not use goodle before owning the Note 8.0.
Now I am going to redo my account on which I paid a months subscription, so I can apply my perks.
So, I posted on here a few days ago in relation to some notification issues I was having on my Chinese Huawei Mate 20 X, long story short, I WAS receiving notifications perfectly fine when the phone was on Wi-Fi, but the second I left the house and ran the phone on mobile data, I either got long delays in notifications or in some cases not actually get them at all, applications affected were Facebook, Messenger, Reddit, Gmail and my banking app.
I was also having connectivity issues with Gboard and voice typing with Google. I received quite a few replies but unfortunately none of the advice work and as a result, I had to send the phone back.
The phones seller advised me of the international version of this phone, and suggested that I perhaps give that a go, I have so far messaged three sellers, and every single one of them has told me that I shouldn't experience any notification issues on the global version, even given that it runs the exact same version of EMUI as the Chinese version.
Can anyone on here verify this?
I don't really want to have to spend another $1,000 and wait several weeks just to have it turn up and go through the exact same problems I had with the Chinese version.
I don't know why people have notification problems I've had none on Chinese model I'm in UK on three network if that makes a difference or not ?
I have INT version, I got from FunkyHuawei, and I have no notification issues at all.
No notifications problems here on EVR-L29.
I have the Chinese version 8/256 and no notification issues whatsoever.
Did you disabled the app from running in the background or something like that?
Once I disabled certain apps like Wechat for example, all it's notifications will ceased.
I have notification issues WHILE CONNECTED TO WIFI WHEN SCREEN IS OFF.

Well if you disable the app from running in the back ground, how would you expect to get notifications? You disabled it from doing so.....Am I missing something here?

That's what I'm talking about. Maybe the op disabled it from running in the background and hence there's no notification.
Please try the following methods:
1)Make sure the SIM card is inserted. Setttings---Battery---- Click the gear button on the upper right corner--- switch on “Stay connected when device sleeps”.
2) Settings---Notifications----More notification settings---turn off "Smart notifications"

Go into settings - battery - more battery settings and toggle on the option that says "stay connected when device sleeps". This fixed all my delayed notifications on Gmail and WhatsApp.
I have the 8/256GB Chinese version and this was driving me crazy until someone here on XDA mentioned this and it fixed all the problems I was having.
Any app killed in the recent apps menu (hitting the trash can) will close all apps and will not run in the background, regardless which version you are running. You can see this by hitting the trash can to clear the apps, and then go to settings apps and choose the app and you will see force stop is grayed out cause the app no longer is running.
Trying to find the protected app location or policy so you can add apps to prevent them from being closed down.
I have the same issue with my China-bought Mate 20 (not X tho). Notifications for most apps (especially Chinese apps like Wechat, ...) work without problems, but certain apps don't show any notifications at all. These include: Splitwise, Couchsurfing, and maybe a few others. This is not a VPN issue since both Splitwise and Couchsurfing work in China without VPN. As soon as I open the apps manually, the updates come through. Before the Mate 20, I had a OnePlus 3, also bought in China, and both apps and their notifications worked without a flaw. So this is definitely a Huawei issue.
Battery optimization is turned off for both apps, they're set to manual with all options enabled (auto launch, etc).

I have done all the 4 above steps.
hi, have done the same for past few days but only certain applications show the notifications like WhatsApp /Facebook/youtube/ google./instagram
but still,
1) I am not able to figure out the notifications for Line / Discord / all the games installed in the device.
2) after long hours of non-activity ( say 6 hours ) the applications on the background once again closes automatically ( even after doing the 3 & 4 th points mentioned above )
3) Apps -> default apps ->assistance & voice input -> ( google automatically logs out for some reason not sure why ) even tho i have removed the default Huawei app, I am not able to get the G-assistant as default.
it works for sometime and after some time, the option goes to default as "none" and I have to choose it once again back.
( yes I have done the 3rd point run manually for google assistant )
4) Gdrive -> My drive -> backups -> backup settings -> all the application data is showing as waiting for backup ( except the contacts )
not sure how to fix it - all options are greyed out.
5) Always on display don't show the notification icons - I tried 3rd party " amoled "but battery consuming - ( I will wait for the update in Original built-in software )
6) Screen recorder able to record, ( in-app settings I have enabled all the permission, microphone etc ) but when I click on the screen recorder
by default, the application microphone is greyed out and not able to switch it on.
7) for google maps history to work, I have to root the device and rename folders as per this thread ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-20-x/how-to/al00-location-history-sharing-timeline-t3887627 )
but I haven't rooted yet. awaiting for proper method for rooting.

I got the same mobile like yours and I'm noticing also some delayed notifications with Microsoft Outlook app.
