Hello everyone.
I was wondering what ROM you guys are using for the best possible battery results? (SOT)
I used to be a gamer and recently quit all games I've been playing. I'm currently using a mi globe rom.
I also changed my battery like 2 weeks ago but the problem still persisted.
The battery drain is devastating.
Even with the screen off, it drains like mad.
I want some recommendations about a ROM that will give me good battery results, be it official/unofficial or MIUI/custom, it doesn't really matter for me.
I like both.
I think ur battery is dying, and U should replace it. Check for few days battery status by AccuBattery from google store.
How is my battery dying, man? Did you read the post? I just changed my battery 2 weeks ago with a brand new one. It's just the ROM that drains the battery.
Oh, i'm sorry. I missed it...
Hello, my gf's mi6's battery seems to be going downhill but she's had it for about 3 years so it seems normal, I'll have to change it soon - one thing that has helped is flashing Paranoid Android ("Quartz 3") to limit drain on the OS side. Since you seem to be playing a lot of games, your battery running out quicker than usual seems normal to me, but give Paranoid Android a try, it's better than MIUI roms imo (I've got a k20 pro on Quartz 3 as well).
Hmm, I see. No, I don't play games anymore.
If you see my post above, I said that I've quit all the games I've been playing in the past.
I'm just using normal and social media apps like Facebook, Instagram etc.
Guess I'll give that a try. Did you change the kernel to a custom one or something? Also, what firmware did you flash before installing Quartz?
Or did you just flash a fastboot official ROM then wipe data + cache, and installed Quartz?

I am in your situation, have you found a ROM with low consumption?
i think i will install:
- Evolution X
- Rev 0S Miui
- Paranoid
- Pixel Experience
I'm just looking for low battery consumption and having Gcam.
I have literally tried countless things for my phone and I'm honestly left without options anymore. Even though i love MI 6, this battery issue has led me to think about buying another phone. Charging your phone 2 times a day has destroyed the purpose of a "mobile phone".
I've tried Android paranoid, epic rom, havoc os, pixel experience etc, yet no rom left me satisfied as far as the battery is concerned.

I have again obtained a better battery result with the original ROM, changing it for a NOHON. But I think that the latest version of original ROM has excessive drainage. I think a Nohon + custom Rom battery can solve our problem. Have you changed the battery for a Nohon?
Of all those ROMS you tried, did any give you better results?

I'm pretty sure the results were almost identical with all roms I've tried, sadly.
I've changed my battery like a month ago with an original one, not NOHON, so it's practically brand new. Yet the battery still drains like mad even with the screen closed. It's just unbelievable. I really have no clue as to what to do anymore.

Xiaomi does not have original batteries for sale, they are all fake. Fortunately with this brand of battery I can give this mi6 more life. I in your case would try this brand.
I edit:
From this moment on I will test 1 or 2 days each ROM that I have mentioned above.
Yeah, i see. Then i don't know what battery i have because i had a technician change it in a shop around my area. Haha.
Then I'll be waiting for news from you. I will also try some other things i guess. It can't stay like this anymore, definitely.

If you wanna use Miui, install Xiaomi Eu Miui 11 stable for mi6. It has the best battery life I've seen on mi6.
Else if you wanna use AOSP/CAF, just wait for Paranoid Android Quartz 4. It's the best daily driver for mi6 right now.
I'm using Xiaomi Eu miui 11 stable right now and I'm so happy with it.

I currently have a nexus 5 and I'm looking to upgrade. The G4 looks like a great option as it have more RAM better processor, better screen and mainly an SD SLOT!!!! I currently am getting by with 16GB which is then around 10GB usuable. My question is is this phone worth getting considering I would like a custom ROM. I'd be happy with CM12 but there doesn't look like much support, I can get this phone pretty cheap but I'm not sure as the support just doesn't seem to be here. Anyone with this phone got any advice? Look elsewhere or buy it?

I recently switched to the G4 (H811) from the S6 Edge back in October. I would consider it a good upgrade. The official CM updates are already rolled out and I've been using it as a daily driver even through the buggy (not complaining) Alpha and Beta stages. As a lot of other users have already stated, most of us considered the stock ROM good enough, especially with Marshmallow rolling out pretty soon. The only reason I switched to CM 12.1 was for the near stock look and the lag in the stock ROM. I've heard good things about the CTT MOD, eliminating lag involving thermal throttling. I used MicroMod777's debloated stock ROM. It ran smoother than stock in my experience. I'll be happy to answer anymore questions you have, given my experience with the device.
[T-MOB H811/ INT H815] [Nightly] Cyanogenmod 12.1
CTT Mod for the G4 eliminates lag and more (10/16)

Thanks a lot. I really like this phone however I don't like stock. I am happy with CM12 though as it has all the features I use. How stable is CM? Are the bugs ironed out now? How is battery life and heat issues? What type of lag is it? Scrolling lag or gaming? I saw the mod but didn't read too much into it, also is over clocking an option via kernels?
Thank again for answering my questions, it will save me a lot of time searching the forums

CM is pretty stable so far, good enough for a daily driver. Trebuchet crashes every now and then and I've noticed some issues with the camera (besides the actual camera app, that's just AOSP camera in general). I'm not complaining, nor rushing the devs, but it's easily usable as a daily driver. To sum it up, bugs are present, but not bad. Battery life is iffy, I can get through an entire day with 2 batteries and sometimes a charge. I'd say it's around 3 hours SOT. Heat issues are way worse on the stock ROM, nothing too bad so far on CM. Lag on CM is little things like scrolling or keyboard animations, and apps crashing now and then. I haven't tried much gaming. Over clocking is possible.
if you guys use CM custom rom, which app use for camera? is the CM camera apps as good as stock to use all features of the G4 camera? or you don't care about photos, you just need other features covered by CM rom?

I think the issue is because of the bootloader and the fact that there are only 2 variants which is can be unlocked on.
I know CandySix is coming to the G4 though :good:

The other features are worth losing the camera. It's still great for regular pictures but don't expect a DSLR replacement. They're still working on getting the G4 Camera ported to the ROM.

you can use other 3rd party camera apps but you lose some features like night shot which is used by front camera as well.
also shutter time will not be more than 0.5s, stock goes up to 30s.
Its not clear to me how CM will make use of the colour sensor and laser AF. Are shots as quick to take, are they as clear.
Low light on auto ? this is buggy right now from the few samples i saw.
Whether unlocking bootloader automatically disables these features is not clear. Because if it does then its a one way process. You lose it forever.
or you don't care about photos, you just need other features covered by CM rom?

You get 3h sot on cm or stock ?
regardless you should be getting more, on stock.
3-4h on data, 4-5h on wifi. If your brightness is 25% you can add an extra hour in there. This is normal with stock and greenify.
If you can't get that then you need a reset.
I've seen very little to no benefits accruing to battery life by rooting, roms or exposed. if you must go down that route its about features.

3h SOT on CM, less on stock. That's with greenify and screen at around 30% brightness. I'm not going to complain to CM development for those numbers, but I'll try one of the debloated stock ROMs and report back after a few days. Thanks for the advice.

Looks like a ghost town to me. Compare that forum to the equivalent G3 forum, even at the current date in 2014, and it was way more lively.
With every passing day it looks more and more like the G4 has been abandoned. I guess you can't blame the devs, LG are being pricks about the bootloader.

Pretty clear there is not much to choose from and even then they seem to have bugs. This was a genuine question no need to be cocky although I'm sure it makes you feel superior.
Thanks a lot guys, it was basically a choice between the G4 or a Sony Z5 both have little support, obviously the Z5 has only just been released so it's to be expected. I'm just a little disappointed as the G4 seemed so perfect for me hardware wise vs price, plus the fact the G4 uses the 808 as opposed to the 810 which has overheating problems. The Moto X pure is looking like a possibility for this reason now. I tend to keep my phones fairly long so I need something quite stable. I think I will hold off for now until support for the phones I'm interested in grows, unless I see something really cheap in the black Friday sales
Thank you for your help everyone, I appreciate it!!

I'm in the exact same boat man, G4 looks like the perfect phone in terms of hardware but the software situation is just depressing. We'll see how things pan out once Marshmallow has made it to all G4s, but if thing don't pick up I'll have to look elsewhere.

if you can't get those figures in stock then Cm can't do more.
debloated if you have a carrier rom, its not necessary otherwise.
How long you had the device ?
People that can't get beyond 3h sot need a reset. something is running more than it needs to. a reset fixes it. dont just do a plain restore after, install apps in small batches and monitor.

Heavy usage. I got better in CM than stock. I've had the T-Mobile G4 since around late September. And yes, I need the debloated ROM because my stock H811 ROM is the carrier one. I've also noticed less lag on it with animations, particularly the keyboard pop-up ones.

Ah, then 3-4hrs of sot is normal.
was testing with youtube and speakers on max. 1 hr of youtube eats up around 27%. 3hrs of youtube like that and its recharge time.
With bluetooth it drops to 20%. Must be some more savings with wired speakers.
with screen off and just podcasts its 10%/hour.
So far the heaviest usage is recoding with 4k. Do that for 90 minutes and the battery is flat.

I'm actually not sure, I'm almost always using it. It drains around 10% over night (about 7 hours) if I forget to plug it in. That's on the CM ROM.
Bootloader is still annyoing to unlock for most models/ not possible, also this phone has so many different models.
On top of that we got from Lolipop to MM quite fast which may also be a reason for the lack of roms.
If I'd be a Dev I'd rather not put too much effort in Lolipop roms for the G4 if MM is right around the corner.
Dunno maybe it will get better now
Has anyone noticed this? I have been using stock rom since the start but after 7.0 update the battery drain by Android System is high. I tried different ROM's that are based on Stock ROM, there also the story is same. I dont know about AOSP based ROM's as i havent tried them due to camera quality. Is there any solution to this? Like if it is related to kernel ?

Depends on how you use your phone day in and day out. If you are using the phone as it was intended to be used (like a phone), then you would expect there to be a system drain component; if there wasn't, you've basically got your phone on airplane mode with every feature and settings turned off. I don't think the system drain is a stock rom issue, it's basically a part of every Android OS. No it is not a kernel issue (unless the kernel is poorly written, usually not the case with stock or any of the other kernels out there for the OP3).
And what do you mean by battery drain is high? You mean it's listed as one of the top 3 on the battery info screen? That screen is basically meaningless and is relative to all other apps/processes running on your phone. If you work 8 hours a day and you don't touch your phone once, I will guarantee you that Android System will be 1 or 2 on that list (next to Google Services). If you watch movies saved on your phone for 6 hours straight, I can guarantee you that Screen will be at the top of that list. That battery info screen is there to give you a rough idea of what's using up the juice.
The phone still has the battery to last you a full work day on a single charge (unless you're a heavy gamer) with email sync, texting, phone calls, music, minimal social media (many of these apps are battery hogs). If you run low early, Dash Charge is quite amazing.

I fully concur with your observation since I had also experienced the same issue when I switched from stock OOS MM to stock OOS N. I don't know what causes it. It was bad and I was forced to go back to MM till I found Vertex OS. It is Nougat and battery life is amazing. It is also stock ROM based.
Some may complain that Vertex has no gimmicks but I am satisfied with what it has to offer. Try it.

I have noticed the same thing since the second nougat beta released around December 15th. It is there even on debloating, trying custom kernels, disabling apps, etc. Then I changed to lineageOS, and surprisingly even on it Android System was on top. Till now I haven't come across any solution.
I had the same issue. It was due to OTG/usb host interrupts for me. Try better battery stats to find out what is causing it.
Hello there!
I just bought the Mi Mix 2, because I wanted to get rid of my iPhone SE, the screen was just too small.
I had a Redmi 4 Prime one year ago, and I was happy with MIUI back then, but I dont like Google and want to keep the Play Services to a bare minimum (comparable to the OpenGapps Pico).
I only need the PlayStore and nothing else.
Several years ago I was a huge fan of Cyanogenmod and used it on every Phone I ever owned. Though Lineage is available for the Mix 2, I didnt like the stock Android versions which came after Kitkat. I never really got familiar with it, especially after the HoloBlue design was gone and Google tried to make the OS look more mainstream.
MIUI was very pleasant to use, but even with the xiaomi.eu ROM Google is still present with all of the services.
What ROM would you recommend for me? And which ROM are you using and why?
Sorry for my bad english!
Regards
Edit: One more question: The Redmi 4 Prime had a weird audio recording bug, where audio in videos or other recording was barely hearable and very noisy. After flashing the AICP ROM of the user unterwelt (amazing work, btw), the issue was completely gone. Back to the official MIUI ROM and it was there again. So I assume its a problem caused either by Xiaomi/MIUI or some Google services?
Anyway, is this an issue with the Mix 2? I read somewhere that it has very bad recording quality, which would be bad, because I use my phone as a recording device when Im at my way to work and so on (Im kind of a "part time" musician).

Anyway, is this an issue with the Mix 2? I read somewhere that it has very bad recording quality, which would be bad, because I use my phone as a recording device when Im at my way to work and so on (Im kind of a "part time" musician).

Any custom ROM is going to give u what u want, just try them. What's good for one person might not be good for u
Try MiuiPro...I flash it on several Xiaomi and everybody are happy about it
OmniRom with skizo Kernel, good battery life.
LOS and RR (based on LOS of course) have a very poor battery life atm

I'm running Lineage OS and my battery life is awesome.
8 hours screen time / 36 hours total runtime per charge.
What kind of battery life are you getting?

The official site is in Russia (the hacking, malware and ransomware capital of the world) and there is very little information about MIUIPro that I can find other than people saying its good. How is it good compared to stock or other ROMs?
I think I will give the .eu ROM a shot then, since I like MIUI. Is there any possibility to turn the Google services off? I only need the PlayStore.
Also, what about the recording sound?
Finally received my MIX 2. Looks and feels really nice!
Sadly, I have to wait for 72 hours to unlock the phone. I dont know why, because I registrated the device, but I guess its some problem with the unlock app.
Anyway, I am stuck with the global ROM for so long now. Is it worth it to "upgrade" to another rom? Because global seems to run well so far, and I guess MIUI10 is already around the corner.

That's just Xiaomi policy. Wait it out and then unlock your device.
I tried LOS and found it buggy and also significantly less smooth and responsive than MIUI 9--but for some people having stock Android is apparently worth the drop off in phone performance. There's not much risk in trying custom ROMs with this phone because it's very easy to go back to stock using the MI Flash tool.
Hi,the source has been released few time ago....but there isn't custom rom, why?
This mobile is crap. The biggest bluf from Xiaomi
A lot of people are really, really dissapointed.I own the device less than month, ans think to sell it, and buy some phone with stock clear android.Any advice witch phone to look?

If you really want to run a stock ROM you could always invest some time into patching up the whyred device and vendor trees.
The two devices are mostly identical and essentially just need a blob swap.

Works fine for me. Whatever the issue is, it must be something you did wrong, or something the seller messed up with your device before shipping it to you.

Can you explain what wasn't good? Did you try resurrected kernel with it? That eliminated lag.
No custom rom yet probably because pocophone just came out. Development has already started for that first than mm3 even though it's released later and I don't think many people like big phones the same as us

If you go to the thread - use my settings for best battery or tweak the max frequencies to your liking for performance. You can also choose between Performance, Balanced, and Battery for governor tuner in L Speed cpu tuner section.
Well biggest difference, 117-119K antutu to 130-132K - big enough reason. Aside from no lag and better battery. Plus, more tweaks are coming with better governors.

i have got 13h of sot on eu
@opasha stop lying. Battery is worse, up to 10h sot and your settings do not work. Ondemand governon works so bad with this Kernel. Interactive + noop + OC gives up to 10h sot. Stock Kernel 13h-15h.
But performance is visibly better.

Go take a chill pill and come back after you've collected yourself. No need to call me a liar for no reason. I never said to use ondemand with noop on the latest kernel. Go check the resurrected kernel thread. My recent settings are there. What works well for me and others on 8.8.9 eu rom may not be the same for you since you're not even on the same rom. The newer eu roms have more battery drain - it's noted even in their forums from members. Everyone's SOT is also different. You stated the most useless information. Grow up, man. If you've got nothing productive to say, move along.
Hello all !
I recently buy an samsung galaxy s9, I love it because of his size, today all manufacturers are racing for the biggest screen diagonal, but forget about the people who like compact phones.
the only thing I don't like is that the battery doesn't really last. I use some social networks like instagram or whatsapp to chat and the battery is not consistent enough for me, I think. (I uninstalled the bloatware app and made a maximum of optimization).
So I'm thinking about the solution of installing a custom rom. I'm doing some research and I like the pixel experience or the lineageOS.
The reason of my post is to ask you, you who know much better than me, is it really going to increase the duration of use?
Do you have any advice on this ? I read that you have to calibrate the battery after installing a rom but maybe you have other advice, a rom in particular, settings to do ?
For rooting i find this thread in this forum > https://www.thecustomdroid.com/samsung-galaxy-s9-plus-root/
but i got a SM-G960U1 that is not supported..
Thanks you a lot for all ur answer and information good to know XDA members !
Well I have a galaxy S9(5.8" size) and it's running NezukoOS with android 11. Pretty fluid and with light use I can get it to last me all day long, however I turn it off during night. If you really want more battery life, you should considerer using a custom kernel, as that is what is really going to improve battery life. The custom ROM will bring new features and make your phone feel different, but it usually doesn't improves battery life(at least the ones I tried out didn't help battery at all).
Hope this is useful!

Very helpful, thanks
Can you recommend a kernel for better battery life?
And another question to NezukoOS or general AOSP roms.. can you unlock the device by pressing the 'invisible' home button on the screen? Is this option still available in these roms?
Best

I used Nezuko Os and Yes the invisible home button was working for me.. But i switch now from nezuko back to the stock ffirmware cause i love the one ui design etc..
sorry for my bad english Greetings From Germany!!
Well I never used a custom kernel as I didn't had any problems with battery life, but I do know a ROM which comes with a modded kernel. It's call Noble ROM, and brings ONE UI 3 with android 11 to the galaxy S9. I tried it out and it works pretty good, and when you install it you have a modded kernel that will ask you if you want to improve performance or battery life, here is the link if you are interested on it https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-03-2021-sm-n960f-fd-n-sm-g96xf-fd-n.4244747/ However if you prefer the stock Android I can't really help you, but for sure there are a lot of kernels on XDA forums, you just need to search one.
With the 'invisible' button, on all ROMs I tried(EvolutionX, Pixel Experience, HavacOS...) when the screen is off and you press it, the phone turns on, but once the screen is on it dones't work anymore. I didn't miss it actually, because I use navigation gestures, so the only moment I used was to turn it on. I don't know if that answers your question... Also I didn't find any options to modify pressure sensitivity on settings.
If you still have any questions feel free to ask me!

I also tried noble Rome, but every time it was very laggy and the interior assistant almost always crashed. I had to restart my device very often. My phone had also overheated and I uninstalled it again. no matter how often I did a reflash it was always laggy as described above

Oh yeah that's bad. My phone also overheated when I tried it however I thought it could be because I overclock it's CPU. My main problem was the camera didn't work almost all times and I needed to restart the phone continuously, so I went back to NezukoOS.
I also liked ONE UI however I don't know if that happened to you but my phone was very slow on ONE UI and animations almost all times were very laggy. That's why I start using AOSP, and also because I really like the new features.

I don't bo back because of various reasons. First and more important, it's starting to be obsolete and Android 12 is going to be released in August I think, which makes android 10 be 2 years old. Also this customs ROMs give a lot of features that I don't find on the original ONE UI, like caffeine. Finally, performance. My phone was slow and laggy on stock firmware but now its super fast, as if it was brand new. Hope this help you decide.

Wow very nice posts of all of you guys thanks a lot.
What do you think about arrow os? I am undetermined which one i should give a try. I prefer a very clean and hardly debloated os.
Some experiences?
I dont like the Samsung stuff so i'd like to try aosp. I think i can live without volte and wifi call
No problem! Glad to know that this is useful.
I tried Arrow OS however I used it only for 2 days. The ROM was good and seem to be stable however it didn't have a function which for me was crucial, smart charging (charges your phone only to 80% to slow down its degradation) so I went back to NezukoOS. Arrow OS and AOSP are in general don't have bloatware and useless applications preinstalled however if you don't want a lot of features PixelExpirience(not the plus version) is going to be good for you. It's simple, very smooth and almost identical to a Google Pixel experience. LineageOS and ArrowOS however have more features built-in.
Hope this helps you choose!
