If you really want to run a stock ROM you could always invest some time into patching up the whyred device and vendor trees.
The two devices are mostly identical and essentially just need a blob swap.

Works fine for me. Whatever the issue is, it must be something you did wrong, or something the seller messed up with your device before shipping it to you.

Can you explain what wasn't good? Did you try resurrected kernel with it? That eliminated lag.

No custom rom yet probably because pocophone just came out. Development has already started for that first than mm3 even though it's released later and I don't think many people like big phones the same as us

If you go to the thread - use my settings for best battery or tweak the max frequencies to your liking for performance. You can also choose between Performance, Balanced, and Battery for governor tuner in L Speed cpu tuner section.
Well biggest difference, 117-119K antutu to 130-132K - big enough reason. Aside from no lag and better battery. Plus, more tweaks are coming with better governors.

i have got 13h of sot on eu

@opasha stop lying. Battery is worse, up to 10h sot and your settings do not work. Ondemand governon works so bad with this Kernel. Interactive + noop + OC gives up to 10h sot. Stock Kernel 13h-15h.
But performance is visibly better.

Go take a chill pill and come back after you've collected yourself. No need to call me a liar for no reason. I never said to use ondemand with noop on the latest kernel. Go check the resurrected kernel thread. My recent settings are there. What works well for me and others on 8.8.9 eu rom may not be the same for you since you're not even on the same rom. The newer eu roms have more battery drain - it's noted even in their forums from members. Everyone's SOT is also different. You stated the most useless information. Grow up, man. If you've got nothing productive to say, move along.

Best kernel with stock rom

Was your post *REALLY* necessary?
So, to answer your question:
I don't believe most of the kernels are for the stock ROM, with the exception of faux123's. I have followed faux over from multiple devices, and his kernels have always gotten the best battery life! It also doesn't hurt that you can get over 30 hours with over 3 hours screen on time with his kernel!
[Kernel][GSM][Hybrid-3.0.21]ICS4.0.2/3/4/UV,OC,TUN,CIFS,FIOPS,OTG(v013) [Feb-18]
Also, if its battery life your after as opposed to performance, you should go with the mainline version of the kernel.

nope, just like the thread. his years of "knowladge" didnt help him.
I'm running on Franco 17.2 kernel (too lazy to update to 18.6) with the "stock" 4.0.4 rom and I'm seeing a pretty good battery life improvement over stock kernel.
I collected some metrics last night...
11h 6m on battery with 2h 48m display on time (auto brightness). Wifi was on almost the entire time.
I know people have gotten better with non-stock roms (4 hour display time over 16 hours), but with the stock rom, I'd say it's an improvement (used to only get 8-10 hours with negligible screen time).
I have been using franco 18.6 with the leaked stock 4.0.4 with good results so far, but have seen crashes on 4g/3g border areas. I can't really say if it's the best, because my sample size is a single custom kernel.
Used the app off the android market for OTA kernel updates; and am reluctant to try other kernels until more apps are available like that.
There really is not definitive answer on what the best kernel is for everyone.
Each person uses their phone differently and differing configurations will alter results as well.
Your best bet is to experiment yourself. Flash a kernel and let it run a couple days, trying to take note of how your on screen performance is, what you have run, also how the phone sleeps.
Then you move on and try the next, that is part of the fun!

Well, you obviously failed to realise the point, this kind of thread pops up everyday. So you failed search.
Its like a pair of shoes, you need to try and find what is best for you. Best kernel threads will always be retarded to ask because it is a preference, like an anus, everybody has one.

One has pretty low score and another just the same. I was expecting 170K for a custom rom as Le Pro 3 typically gets 160-166K

That's kinda telling that the stock EUI rom is not as bad as many people thinks. I am not really expecting that the custom roms will perform better that stock roms anytime soon. This requires a lot of kernel level tweaking.

I think generally, most people don't complain about stock performance, but rather the UI. I don't have much of a problem with it other than I wish I could toggle WiFi on/off and go straight back to the app I was using. But that's minor.

I might give the Miui ROM a chance at some point. Anyone tried both CM 13 and this ROM? I wonder which one "feels" smoother... not really worried as much about synthetic benchmarks. I know the CM ROM scores lower on that end but it seems pretty smooth otherwise. Much lower benchmark score than stock, but it feels quicker to me.

I have, maybe CM, but they're all very fast/smooth. CM typically benches lower but feels slight faster than those 2. Miui is cool but has a few errors and a.lot.of Chinese bloat/menu items etc. Had to use google installer to get play store too. Battery on miui is insanely good though, even a bit better than stock for me. Not quite as good on CM but still OK. It has pretty aggressive touch boost and no built in greenify features. I ended up going back to CM personally. There's still notification issues on miui and stock in some apps. For example, I sold an item on eBay overnight on miui... Never got a notification for it (and I love that chaching!), nor PayPal notification that the item was paid.

Thanks for the info and detailed response! Yeah, I've been pretty satisfied with CM even though it benches lower because it feels really snappy. Battery life definitely isn't as great as stock on CM but not bad at all with the huge battery. I may just stick with CM and wait for an update. That stinks that there's still notification issues with Miui.

What's Your Favorite Kernel & Why?

I decided now that there are several choices, I'm going to flash a custom kernel. I'm going to wait until the Dec. patch is release, so I don't have to mess with it twice (WAY too busy). But, on my Pixel 2xl, I used the Flash kernel always. I didn't try anything else. So, all the kernels for the 3xl, I don't know anything about.
So, what is your go-to and why?
No one?
try them out yourself?
Stock because I don't feel like doing all the flashing and stuff that I used to.

What is good for one person and their usage is not going to be the same for the next person. It's best just to read the features and description of each kernel and decide for yourself.
Stock for now. Have not yet decided to go for it. Really itching tho.
Speed is the most important part for me. Proton kernel is one of I'd try.

Hearing why others chose a kernel, and what it does for him or her can be helpful to those of us not so familiar with some things. And to be honest, I don't understand why no one wants to be helpful at all with this. The pixel 2xl forum has this exact type of thread, and it has a LOT of pages. Apparently no one with a 3 wants to chime in and help those of us not so familiar with all what all these custom kernels can do, outside of what the description says. Sorry, but, just being honest. I went ahead and flashed Kirisakura, so far, it seems a tad faster. And I was able to overclock the CPU. Other than that, I don't know what can be done with it, let alone any of the others.
My $0.02
I have been using ElementalX. I chose to use it because I've used it on other devices before in the past and I know that it can be trusted to be totally stable with no wonkiness. If ever something should come up I am also confidant that Flar would address.
My experience so far has been solid. Reliable, no hiccups or anything, a few extra features and I have gotten slightly improved battery life over stock. I'm going to try the Kirisakura next and see if that gives me even more battery for my usage.

This thread making me want to step away from stock pixel and play with these kernel. Errr so tempting.

Kirisakura is updated very often and has been my DD. I tried most others but the mix of performance, battery and security with Kirisakura convinced me to stop looking. But, I am pretty basic in my usage so other kernels may suit you better. Good luck!
Also, I am getting 7-8 hrs SOT with Kirisakura. Been very happy!

I'm also on the Kirisakura kernel. He has already present everything, so just flash and go. It's updated regularly and the support is excellent.

I don't need much, don't even need kernel, Im just tempted as everyone else is doing it. My main concern is speed nothing else. By not trying them out I feel like there is something good and I'm missing out on it.
What do I need to do?
Unlock boot loader
Twrp and then flash the kernel right?
Been years since I've done it
I am currently using Kirisakura Bluecross, honestly I really don't see a difference between stock and this one. I don't think my battery is lasting longer and, yes, it seems that you can do a lot with cpu clocking and such, but otherwise, tbh I don't see a difference in my device. I am tempted to try elemental x as I purchased the elemental x kernal manager and it is always bothering me to upgrade my kernal to their most up-to-date. Not sure yet.
But full disclosure: afraid to screw with CPU settings and such as I don't want to overheat or kill my phone, so I probably am not doing as much as I could with the new kernal...

You know what my OCD thing is and has been on all my Samsung phones , with is one of the reasons I've moved to pixel in hope it be gone but it's not?
Clicking on: settings , sms, phone apps. Have then load slowly. I try to tell myself it's normal but it's still pissing me off.
Thus another reason to go back on playing with kernels in hopes they could help.
Clicking on those apps I mentioned and often the window will pop up but the info will apprear later. Like there is a delay. Again my OCD thing.

Best rom for battery(SOT)

Hello everyone.
I was wondering what ROM you guys are using for the best possible battery results? (SOT)
I used to be a gamer and recently quit all games I've been playing. I'm currently using a mi globe rom.
I also changed my battery like 2 weeks ago but the problem still persisted.
The battery drain is devastating.
Even with the screen off, it drains like mad.
I want some recommendations about a ROM that will give me good battery results, be it official/unofficial or MIUI/custom, it doesn't really matter for me.
I like both.
I think ur battery is dying, and U should replace it. Check for few days battery status by AccuBattery from google store.
How is my battery dying, man? Did you read the post? I just changed my battery 2 weeks ago with a brand new one. It's just the ROM that drains the battery.
Oh, i'm sorry. I missed it...
Hello, my gf's mi6's battery seems to be going downhill but she's had it for about 3 years so it seems normal, I'll have to change it soon - one thing that has helped is flashing Paranoid Android ("Quartz 3") to limit drain on the OS side. Since you seem to be playing a lot of games, your battery running out quicker than usual seems normal to me, but give Paranoid Android a try, it's better than MIUI roms imo (I've got a k20 pro on Quartz 3 as well).
Hmm, I see. No, I don't play games anymore.
If you see my post above, I said that I've quit all the games I've been playing in the past.
I'm just using normal and social media apps like Facebook, Instagram etc.
Guess I'll give that a try. Did you change the kernel to a custom one or something? Also, what firmware did you flash before installing Quartz?
Or did you just flash a fastboot official ROM then wipe data + cache, and installed Quartz?

I am in your situation, have you found a ROM with low consumption?
i think i will install:
- Evolution X
- Rev 0S Miui
- Paranoid
- Pixel Experience
I'm just looking for low battery consumption and having Gcam.
I have literally tried countless things for my phone and I'm honestly left without options anymore. Even though i love MI 6, this battery issue has led me to think about buying another phone. Charging your phone 2 times a day has destroyed the purpose of a "mobile phone".
I've tried Android paranoid, epic rom, havoc os, pixel experience etc, yet no rom left me satisfied as far as the battery is concerned.

I have again obtained a better battery result with the original ROM, changing it for a NOHON. But I think that the latest version of original ROM has excessive drainage. I think a Nohon + custom Rom battery can solve our problem. Have you changed the battery for a Nohon?
Of all those ROMS you tried, did any give you better results?

I'm pretty sure the results were almost identical with all roms I've tried, sadly.
I've changed my battery like a month ago with an original one, not NOHON, so it's practically brand new. Yet the battery still drains like mad even with the screen closed. It's just unbelievable. I really have no clue as to what to do anymore.

Xiaomi does not have original batteries for sale, they are all fake. Fortunately with this brand of battery I can give this mi6 more life. I in your case would try this brand.

Nope, not at all, at least not in Call of Duty Mobile or Battle Prime

How did you hardbrick it, did you literally smash it with a brick afaik these phones are 99% unhardbrickable
That's what i like to know as well.
I've flashed roms for about ten years or so and i never hard bricked a device.
And i can count the soft bricks i had on one hand.
I will also settle in a MIUI modded Rom. Because we hate Miui but our phones needed at least to work as intended, I know with a pair of bugs but at least we don't have empty pockets. I care about battery and SOT, I mean what I look for in a ROM. And with this one is what I got.

i have a oneplus 3t bought it new when it first came out, still run perfectly fine never opened, i have done all kind of experiments with it finally flashed PE about a year ago, i have all my authentication apps for work and personal accounts on it + banking apps and so on, flashing ROMs do not affect and longevity of a phone.
Arrow and Syberia are the best two roms right now. Syberia has more options than Arrow but both are stable and I haven't had any random reboots or glitches. The one plus side to Syberia is the ringtones actually play through both speakers instead of just the bottom one. It's the only custom rom with that feature which means they actually took the time to get that working and that's a good sign to me. I also like having Face unlock and any rom that doesn't have it I stay away from. Also basic things like hiding the battery icon and just showing the percentage and customizing the quick settings columns and rows are options I think all custom roms should have.

Why buy a MIUI based device if you hate MIUI.
Pretty bad self consumer choices there.

Because the hardware is unbeatable at its pricepoint. But I'm pretty sure you already knew that and were just trolling.
