S20+ SM-G985F exynos slow lte? - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

Hello, has anybody noticed really slow data speed on 4g/lte network?
i've been getting 1mbps or less on speedtest app. i was getting 4 network bars and network was 4g.
Something else i was a s20 ultra user the exynos version, from 30% of full charge to 100% i would take arround 40 minutes to finish, whereas now with the s20+ it says 1hr or more, i dont know what the problem is but
tomorrow i am going to get a replacement :/ .
I didnt stick with the s20 ultra because of the focusing issue.

[emoji2357] this s20 series and specially the exynos version was one of the biggest messed up of Samsung so far... normally I would go for this galaxy line but I decided to skip up.

[Q] Note 2 LTE or wait for Note 3?

hope im posting it on the correct section.
Anyways, I've been offered by my carrier a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE version. I have th Samsung Galaxy Note 2 3g version now.
All I have to do is renew my contract for 24 months and also I wont have to pay more for LTE, im already on Unlimited Data on my Note 2, I just have to change my phone to a LTE enabled phone to get LTE.
Question is, is it worth the upgrade now? Or wait a few months for the Note 3 to come out?
Wait.
Really, are you always thinking "this isn't downloading fast enough?"
Locking yourself in for 24 months is nuts.
note3 ofc

Here's the thing..
the fastest speed I got from my Note 2 3G is 5mbps
But I've seen people here with LTE go up to 20mbps and more...
Also, I think locking for 24 months is no problem with me. Since I've been using the same carrier for more than 10 years now
And unfortunately, where I live, we cannot retain the same mobile number if we change carriers, so unless that happens Im stuck with the same carrier.

What are you ever doing on your phone where 5mbs isn't fast enough?
I had a S3 and went to a Note 2 LTE. Have I ever noticed any difference apart from running wanky speedtest? No.
If you really need that speed, sure, get it. But it sounds like you're just seeing the bigger number and thinking you're missing out. You're really not.
If you're so vain you need to show off fast speedtest, then yes you should also get it.
It really depends, to be honest. I have a Note 2 right now, but I'd really like a N7105 LTE version. I briefly had a Galaxy S4 but got rid of it because it wasn't as good as the Note 2. If the Note 3 comes out and is just a SGS4 in a Note size, then I'd take the LTE Note 2 any day. The slowness and lag of the S4, particularly in the camera app, coupled with the outrageous heat it generates and the pointlessly short battery life while doing very little make it a no-go. Hopefully the Note 3 is better engineered.....
Had note 2 LTE version sold it but missed it and bought cheaper n7100 but not much difference. Best wait for note 3

Mi Max 3gb/64gb on T-mobile Edge. No 3g ?

I just had my Mi Max today. I did a research and saw that Mi Max would receive 3g service with T-mobile. My phone just happened to be on Edge, no 3g or H+. What cause the problem ? My phone is on miui 7/global stable rom. I lived in Iowa. Tmobile partnered with Iowa wireless. I wanted to know if this the problem. My honor 5x was fine having LTE on Iowa wireless ( with T-mobile sim). I wanted to know if other mi max owner have better data signal and you guys would have me solve this problem. thank in advance
I'm in Washington State on T-Mo. Get HSPA+ just time and am on wifi most of the time anyway. You suppose band 2 refarming has impacted your reception? I see some band 2 (1900) being phased out http://www.prepaidphonenews.com/2015/06/what-t-mobiles-shut-down-of-aws-band-3g.html but nothing in Iowa. Of course this is a year old article, so could be more were phased out.
Could be your area. I get HSPA+ on mine.

I get T-Mobile HSPA+ on mines in South Carolina and I can honestly say I can't notice a difference between HSPA+ and LTE..both are fast in my area
I can deal with H+ speeds, but it's the lack of signal in buildings. I can get close to full bars with LTE in some buildings and almost nothing with H+.

I'm on T-Mo, and it does not include LTE band 4 or 12, just 2/3G HSPA+ band 2, which is close to my LTE bandwidth at home (12-20Mb/s.) I don't think this phone is a good USA alternative because 2/3G can be spotty, well, that's my experience on T-Mo anyway when travelling around Seattle.

Thanks for info. Good thing I didn't buy it. Still looking for other phone that has LTE, 6.0" display or high and MIUI 8. I am on Huawei Mate 8. I get bored with it. I want something new.

I picked up a Lenovo Phab 2 Pro yesterdy (Lowes.com). Just getting it set-up and used to it. Bit of a learning curb with permissions, of which I have not encountered, but a few googles has helped me through my questions.
Huawei Mate 9 looks pretty nice, but it may or may not be released in the US, otherwise you're stuck with HSPA (2/3G) speeds. For a big phone (6"+) the Phab 2 Pro seems pretty nice. It's a tango device, but I don't care about tango, although I may play with it when I get board. It has all ATT & T-Mo bands. My speedtest verifies LTE, although the 4G indicator doesn't display LTE, it is non-the-less.

The Mi Max was the first phone in 5-6 years I hadn't rooted. I was happy with the large screen, although I was thinking a 2k display would be nice, something the Phab 2 Pro has. I might root the Phab 2 Pro, assuming it becomes available. My 3 biggest wants in a phone at present: 1) 6 inch or above display (P2P is 6.4"; 2) 2k display (P2P is 2k); and 3) a descent camera. The Phab 2 Pro has a demonstratively better camera than the Mi Max, which maybe isn't saying much (Mi Max camera is pretty bad for other than complete stills), so I am living large, as it were, at the present time.

S9 plus 5G capabilities

Does the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus have 5G capabilities built in it or does it need a software upgrade does anyone know thanks
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
No,
Galaxy S9(+) does not support 5G and will not support it because there is no hardware component built in.
Even the S10 will not support 5G but maybe there will be a seperate 5G version of the S10 later this year.
Regards
S9+ and 5g
My wife phone is s9+and we were I Orlando Fl and I notice that it was connected to 5g. Is that normal.

Might want to look at that network type icon again closely.
It really says 5GE. And, the "E" is really small.
That's really 4G LTE-Advanced. Not true 5G.
Have you not been paying attention to the news the past 6 months about how AT&T is lying and faking out their customers with "5G-E" on all their recent (within the last year and a half) phones?
I get that 5G-E icon in a few really small areas in Baton Rouge, LA. Including right downtown where I work. It gets a whopping 25 Mbps... woo hoo. At my house, just 5 miles away to the east, I get 120-160 Mbps on regular 4G.
Moral of the story - 5G-E ain't all that AT&T wants us to think it is.

Is the 10+ 5Ga complete waste of money (vs the 10+)?

I'm not concerned about the money difference, I just don't want to pay for nothing. My note 9 got 5g in nyc, so I can't imagine the 10+ wouldn't. Am I missing something?
Wait you got 5g on a note 9... Interesting

It said 5G, perhaps it was a software glitch but it only began showing up once NYC went 5g

Did you got 5G on Note 9 with modem which doesn't support 5G...?
Then You are first and only one in the whole world... Congrats
It's that stupid marketing gimmick from AT&T
They were being sued for it I believe
Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
have to assume it's giving wrong information for 4G+ as the Note 9 only has a 4G modem, seems like a gimmick so a carrier can claim to give people 5G while just giving them the top end of 4G that has been around for years.
as said above there has to be some legality to this deception as 5G and 4G require different hardware and the Note 9 never carried a 5G modem meaning it is impossible for it to carry anything more than a spoofed network signal.
I have a note9 and 10+5g. It's an upgrade without the 5g factored in, but I mean you're going to get a faster processor with the 5g version for $100 more so might as well if you're going to spend the money.
Don't upgrade for the 5g signal itself, this phone has bad antenna anyway, upgrade because the phone itself, which I feel is worth the money.
I have the 5g version and live 50 miles from a 5G area. It has been kind of hit or miss even when I'm downtown to make 5G work. If I'm aimed the right direction, then it's freakishly fast (1.8 Gbps). If I turn the other direction, it's about 25% of "freakishly fast." I would say it would depend on if you live/work anywhere near a 5G area, and even then, I would wonder because it seems like it only works outdoors. It's hard to justify spending the extra money if you can't enjoy it. Yes, I know. I bought the 5G version, but if I had it to do over again, I'd probably just get the 4G only.
5G is hit and miss at best as it is as everywhere that is upgrading only seems to be doing certain high traffic masts and not all of them just yet, probably going to be another few years until a 5G connection becomes like a 4G one for level of reception.
assuming idiots in places stop burning telephone masts as they think 5G and coronavirus are linked because some random made up source said so.

That all depends on how much you rely on a data connection vs WI-FI.
If you need high speed downloading & low latency on a data connection, then yes, it's worth it, all other things being relatively equal.
Of course, that all depends on your network's 5G coverage where you use your phone the most.
If 5G coverage is spotty & you're otherwise satisfied with the Note 9, I'd stick with it. I came from a Note 9 & am currently on the Note 10+ 5G. If not for the relatively decent 5G coverage in my area, I'd stuck with the Note 9 (a better phone, IMHO, less the lack of 5G).
